- Hello Everyone! Welcome back to my channel! This video will be PART 1 of 3 Videos on how I come up with color combos. I'm also doing a bead for bead tutorial on one of my most sought after designs. This first part will cover a lot of what you'll need to know. Here's a supply list of what you'll need to join me on this tutorial! LET'S BEAD!
I'm using blank hoops I purchased at Wal-mart. You need the right thickness in order to get 7 beads around.
The hoops are 1.5 Inches wide (across).
Size 11 Delica beads. (Check out the Delica Bead Shop Co.)
Size 10, 11 or 12 beading needle. (Check out the Delica Bead Shop Co.)
Hand quilting thread. (I buy it from Wal-mart)
Wax or thread conditioner. (I buy wax from HalfordsMailOrder)
I do not have a drawn out template for this design. But, feel free to draw one out for yourself if you like. I haven't drawn out any of my designs nor have I copied from any other bead artist. I take the time to see the designs in my head and suffer through a lot of trial and error.
Thank you for watching!

You’re so kind to do this. How selfless, thank you!
Thankyou so much for this ! I've been procrastinating on beading now for a few weeks, my Aunt just gave me a beautiful selection of new size 11 beads for Christmas but color blending is always so difficult for me ! Your channel was exactly what I needed to get my butt in gear and start my work already ! Nyah Weh 💜
You are so kind to share. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Your color choices are awesome!! Thank you for sharing your color theory and technique!!

I love your work!!
Thank You!
Oooof I tried to learn this tutorial. . I cannot . Thanks tho!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us, these are beautiful! Would you mind sharing the Delica numbers for all these colors, they are stunning.
I'll see if I can get the numbers this week ☺️
@@MelissaChilcotinChar Thank you, I would appreciate it! You are so kind!
I've been teaching myself how to bead tutorials have helped me so much. I was wondering if you could do one of a beaded hair clips. I've already beaded my flower but cant figure out how to put it on a hair clip
Yes, I'm hoping to do a tutorial on clip on earrings, pins and maybe hair barrettes 😊
Thank you so much for sharing
Can I use a solid round hoop for the project ?
Thank you very much .
You can, yes 🥰 I've uses one recently ☺️
Do you wax frequently while beading or just when you begin your project?
I love your videos! I’ve learned a lot. Thanks, but I do have a question how do keep the beads from twisting? I’ve made a couple pairs of peyote stitch hoops it keeps twisting on me, how do I prevent that?? I’m talking about the columns.
Thank you 🤗
I bead 1 quarter down (or halfway depending on how big the hoops are) then I put little dabs of nail glue at the beginning of my beadwork. I make sure I place the beadwork where I like it to sit before I dab it with nail glue. And when I complete the hoop I dab it again. Only on the ends though. Nail glue or super glue isn't really good for these little projects with thread. It's mainly to fuse the beads to the hoop but, I can't control where glue goes.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar thank you so much! I really appreciate you 🥰🥰
thank you. do you put your design on peyote graph paper. i want to learn your kind of designs, not sure what you mean, when getting your colors. i learn by graph paper.
Im going to follow your tutorial. When it comes to skipping every second bead is that for only whe you add a new color or is that for the entire hoop all around?
Is this the same process you use for ropes and wristlets but with 9 beads
I actually order my findings from Fire Mountain Gems because they sell in bulk with a discount for the larger orders-and I use a special middleman supplier who orders from FMG and charges me the highest discounted rates. It get my findings, beads, they have everything.
Love your work!! What kind of wax do you use?
Nice tutorial. However, when doing peyote in the round, you have to step up at the end of each round. To step up, you go through the last bead on the row you're sewing into and the the first bead of the current row. You might try Fireline or Wildfire beading thread.
Only on even count. I'm doing odd count. No step up needed.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar Good to know. Thanks.
How long does it take you to finish that size of hoop?
I think 1.5 Hoops take a couple hours to bead. I've never timed my hoops. Just the lanyards. Because I'll time how long it takes to bead an Inch and then I will multiply that time by how many Inches I've beaded.
I ended up finding 4 pairs of stainless steel hoops on Amazon for $10. But they are about 2.5”. You used 3 beads in your design for a hoop that is 1.5”. How could I do the same type of design for the 2.5” hoop? Use 4-5 beads in a column or add another color?any suggestions
I would do 4 beads in the columns and choose up to 7 colors to blend or you could stick with 4 colors that contrast and alternate how you feel. Just make sure you find your center and mirror the opposite side 😊 I have pictures of 2.5 inch hoops on my IG: @chilcotincreecustom and on my FB page: Beauty and Beadwork By Melissa.
Chi Miigwetch for the quick reply. Can’t wait for my beads and hoops to come in to start.
If my hoops is too thick for 7 beads and too thin for 9 beads. What should I do?
May I ask, did you mix the pastel chalk with resin or alcohol?
No mixing of chemicals involved. It's all beads and thread ☺️

😷Hello there Mrs. M.ChilcotinChar, I have a question for you. Where do you get your delica Beads? Like on-line? Could you please recommend me a good on-line store to get them.
Scary to go out to shop for them any-where else. 🙂
Thank you. Stay safe with families.
She gives us a source in the description. click on the words "show more" in the description.
Delica Bead Shop Co I just copied and googled it and came to this
delicabeadsshop.com/ Hope this helps.
Shoot! The proprietor is out of commission for awhile due to surgery! Praying for healing! Orders will start going out again after Thanksgiving.
@@hndygrl Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. I am 58 yrs old with health problems & don't wish to go out shopping here in SLC. Thanks again. Stay safe.
The Delica Bead Shop is a main suggested because I haven't had any issues with them and they have quite the selection when it comes to beads AND supplies. They are located in the US. Another place that you can order from is Beaded Edge or Shipwreck Beads if you are located in the US.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar Hi. Thank you. I'll check into that soon. I appreciate you telling me. Beautiful earring hoods your making. I do hoop earrings too but the wrap kind.
Stay safe 😷
@@MelissaChilcotinCharthank you for the shout out! Lovely earrings!
Muy lindo pero se ve muy borroso la explicación gracias
Muy lindos xq no poner sus palabras en castellano soy desde argentina

Delica beads means seed beads??
They are more of a cylinder cut than round.
Delica beads are more uniformed than regular seed beads.
Ничего не видно, жаль

Am I the only one not getting it ? I feel like I did every step 😭 and it still doesn’t look right
I use a tiny amount of nail glue to hold the Beadwork in place. It helps to get that uniform look and keeps my work from sliding around.
@@MelissaChilcotinChar thank you! I ended up getting the hang of it like the 7th try 😂 I finished my first hoop! But my knots I have to work on. They’re so bulky and stick out
I can't see! The work goes off camera & out of focus. Iove the look of the finished piece, and would love to try it, but I can't follow what you're doing. Sorry!
El video se ve borroso !
