We all wish we had a Matt!! Lol
He's a great blessing!
Matt's method of concealing the fence poles is brilliant! I love seeing your creative and budget friendly projects.
I agree!
The idea was totally original ~ I never would've thought if that & it looks so good!
Rachel ......A star is born!! Matt is looking more and more comfortable with every video!!! He does a fabulous job as always!!! ❤❤❤❤
Haha!
Thank you. He actually makes videos fairly often for our painting business - he's way better at "shorts" and reels than I am. He's such a natural, clear & concise teacher! Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Spring! 💐
I think Matt did a fantastic job again. His idea for hiding the fence poles was brilliant. Thank you for another great video Rachel!
I agree, his fence post covers were brilliant! Thanks for visiting today, Miss Gloria. Happy Spring! 💐
Great projects y'all. It's nice to see that beautiful mosaic birdbath being repaired and cleaned up rather than being discarded.
Hi Rachel and Matt! I am new to your channel. I sure live all your projects. I will say you are very fortunate to have a husband that can do all that work. He is a very hard worker. I love that tree bench that really dressed up the yard. Thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed evening and stay safe my dear and Special u -tube Friends ❤❤❤

Love your new gate and bench. You two make a great team.

Agreed, he is a blessing!
EVERYTHING looks so beautiful! Fence, pole covers, birdbath repair and that fantastic tree bench! I love it! The pavers look fabulous, too!
Matt sure is a treasure! I think it’s so nice that you 2 work together on these DIY projects, not just sharing in the physical aspect but the creativity and design as well. Teamwork!
💗🌸💗
Good morning, Miss Heather!
Yes, Matt is a blessing, and we enjoy working together. Thanks for stopping by!
You're lucky to have a handy dandy hubby. ❤
Yes, he is a wonderful blessing!
I love the renovation you did on the birdbath and the bench around the tree is gorgeous, but the idea Matt came up with for those fence poles is awesome!!! You guys have the best ideas for DIY projects inside and out!!!👍
Agreed, Miss Ilene!
His fence post cover idea is brilliant! Thanks for the inspiration for our fence stain color!
What a lovely spot, with the birds chirping. I can see quiet days sipping sweet tea and enjoying all the beauty. Also, let's not forget what a blessing dear Matt is and is so talented.
That sounds relaxing! Thanks for stopping by today!
I have a ceramic (?) bird bath the birds don’t use because there’s nothing for them to grip. Now I know what to do!!! Thank you-1st time viewer.
Wonderful!
Welcome to the Stone Cottage Home family!
the bird bath looks beautiful. about twenty years ago I did that to my mailbox..
Oh, wow!
I'm sure that was beautiful!
The bench again. Closer inspection at the bottom of the legs. It looks like yours might have also been a glider.
The tree bench and pole covers look amazing.
I still have so much I want to do here, even after living here for 15 years. Wish I also had a Matt to do cool projects. At 75 things go slower for me but I am not giving up.
Good for you!
Your diy and money saving ideas are so practical! Thank you for sharing with us. Love, love, love, the bench around the tree! And, the renewed bird bath. So many folks would just throw it away - but, I LOVE that you repaired it and made it as good as new. You two are full of creativity and good sense!
So glad you popped by to visit and enjoyed the projects, Miss Patti! I love Matt's tree bench, too!
I love the benches around the tree and over the poles.
I thought you had a beautiful yard before your projects! What an amazing transformation! Way to go on cover up the unsightly fence post. Matt, your The Man!
Thank you!
What a joyful way to welcome spring....the gate, stone path, bench, fencing and post covers , all new plantings are such a delightful touch
to a beautiful backyatd...You will enjoy the glory of the earth and all the new growth this season. All the best...Melanie Fay
Thank you, Miss M! 😊
Rachel, you and Matt make a great team. The U shaped bench and pole covers to match the fence make quite a statement. Love that you repaired the birdbath and highlighted it with coleus. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of pillows you enhance your pretty bench with. Blessings.
Good morning!
I'm glad you enjoyed the backyard projects. We are grateful you took the time to visit!
Pretty, I like you 2 are not afraid to try new things
Thank you!
Matt is a gem! So talented and willing to share his expertise with all of us! You two have created a beautiful spot in the backyard- and of course the fence post covers are genius!
Good morning, Kirsten & thank you!
His fence cover idea surprised me, too! We're happy with how everything turned out. Happy Spring! 💐
This is one of my favorite videos that you have made!! So so good!
Thanks, friend!
We're glad you enjoyed your "visit!"
Have a fabulous day! 💐
It is always fun to get the outdoor spaces cleaned and ready for the season. I love the fence and flagstone addition. That green color is so cottagey.
Good morning, Miss Julie!
You're right, there is something hopeful & invigorating to sprucing up outdoor spaces in the spring! 💐
Love the horseshoe bench seating. I'm on board and adding it to my list, but my preference is to cover the support post entirely, just my preference!!!
I'm glad you found some inspiration! Creating your own design for a tree bench is what makes life interesting and our spaces unique. I'm sure your design will look lovely as well!
Hi Rachel.
I watched the video when you first diy-ed the birdbath. I still love it.
You made it look so simple in the video, but I know it was hard work and all so worth it. It truly transformed the garden. Excellent job ❤❤
Thank you!
Matt did all the hard work. We actually filmed this over the last two springs... it is nice to finally be able to share! Glad you stopped by and enjoyed!
You both did a great job! And you are right about one project leading to another . Your husband must be a woodworker or be in the trades because he is very skilled. Will you place mulch or gravel around the bench and metal vintage bench? And that metal floor mat that your spray painted....hang it on the fence behind that vintage bench. You know now that I think about it you should really paint that vintage metal bench a nice coral color. Imagine how beautiful that would be!
Glad you enjoyed the projects! Thanks for the feedback, I'm sure we'll jump into more projects as time goes by.
All your changes are terrific. Love how he covered the fence supports!
I love the fence post covers, too! Such a creative idea!
The fence looks so good and I love the bench around the tree. Matt did such a gret job. I bet if you sit really still, the birds will come drink if if you are there.
You're right, Miss Linda!
We've had the robins come and splash around while we're on the patio. Happy Spring! 💐
Beautiful update! That area is now just bursting with coziness❤❤❤
Aw, that's very kind, thank you!
Covering the fence posts was a superb idea!! Love it and looks fantastic. I also loved the birdbath refresh. I think I want to do that once I move because it is beautiful. The bench around the tree is wonderful as well. Matt sure is creative and so are you! Hugs
Glad you enjoyed the projects! You'd love doing a mosaic birdbath. It was a relaxing project and yielded such a pretty result!
Beautiful! You both show good stewardship of your blessings; great example to new homeowners. Be blessed as you bless!
Thank you so much!
I love what Matt did to hide the metal posts and the horse shoe bench.
Thank you, Miss Irene!
He has such good ideas!
I love the bird bath! Your choice of colors are so charming!
Thank you so much!

Agreed!
So happy to see your video today.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the water fountain project. Well, I love all the projects. ❤
Glad you enjoyed the projects!
Your patio area is definitely much improved. Will you be working on getting grass to grow in that area now? Our biggest challenge where we live is to keep the grass healthy and growing, we work on that every year, reseeding and watering. I love the tree bench we have a huge maple tree in our yard that we have talked about doing that too. I shall have to show my husband how your husband did yours. Great video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the projects! For now we are focused on the infrastructures more than the grass. Someday...
Thanks for stopping by!
The birdbath and the bench around the tree, love them both.
Thank you, Miss Robin!
I love everything you guys did in your backyard. The bench around the tree and hiding the fence poles was just awesome. I love your new gate that Matt made it’s so cottage style. Thank you for sharing it gives us some awesome ideas for our backyards Have a great weekend.
Thank you, Miss Sylvia!
The gate & flagstone just might be my favorite...
How lovely! The irises are some of my favorites. I just wished they bloomed all summer.
That would be lovely!
You guys are so darn cute!❤ and awesome besides...
What a wonderful, peaceful, and well thought out cottage retreat in your beautiful back yard.. amazing ❣ thank you both for all your hard work in creating and inspiring all of us.
I love you guys. ❤❤
Good morning, Miss Joann!
So nice to see you stop by to visit, we appreciate your encouraging words and kind support of our channel. Thanks, and have a lovely spring day! 🌷
Great job! Such a peaceful and private area. We are trying to make some improvements also. Lumber and materials are so high. I’ve always enjoyed your videos. 😊 I just loved it all.
Glad you enjoyed the projects, Miss Karen! Yes, materials are higher than ever... Just one trellis is $50!
We appreciate you dropping by today. Have a lovely weekend! 🌷
I love your *SMILING green gate* ! 😊💚
Aw, I hadn't thought of that. Makes me happy, thanks for sharing!
Oh my goodness! Let me say first that I love the color of stain you chose. Your green garden gate just looks perfect against that warmth and depth of stain! It actually lets green growth be the focal point! I can just see a large tray with fresh squeezed lemonade in tall glasses and a new best selling novel to read under the tree. I think a trellis to frame in the glider would look amazing with some solar powered lights on it! Talk about inviting!! I have wondered about the flex seal. We get so much moisture in our back yard that we need something like that. I am always so excited to see that first major project that jump starts the ‘outside’ months. It looks just wonderful!
Good morning!
Thank you for the kind comment. We went with the true dark brown stain because it looked so good on our neighbor's fence! It wasn't redish or orangey, plus it creates a formal backdrop that plants look great against.
I've still got that trellis idea in mind, but hadn't thought of adding lights - great idea!
Well done Matt. The bench need to be moved a bit to the right and a nice colored cushion on it. And fu want to go all out make one for the tree bench. Also ur idea on covering the metal post was brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed!
Good morning thank you for sharing love all the diy your videos always inspiring and you and Matt work so awesome together. Have a wonderful blessed Friday and weekend.

Dear Rachel & Matt....When are you coming to my house? 😃 I absolutely love this video today. The weather is turning so beautiful, flowers are waking. You all work so well together and come up with the best ideas! The seat bench for the tree is awesome, as is, the hidden metal post project! I think Matt is starting a movement and every man in America has a new addition to "the list"! Haha! Rachel, the bench you put out is so sweet, hard to find these here in the NW. Keep at it you two, we love to hear from you!
Lina

Thank you! You should try one!
I'm still thinking about doing our tree tiered fountain...
I used to have a wrap around bench on a tree in my front yard. After time the tree grew so massive it destroyed the bench. You will get so much enjoyment out of this. You both did a great job, it looks beautiful ❤️
Thanks, we appreciate you dropping by, Miss Sharen!
What a beautiful back yard to sit and enjoy. Everything looks so pretty.
Thank you, Miss Marlene!
Have a lovely spring day! 🌷
We liveaboard a sailboat and are familiar with FlexSeal. A word of caution with the clear, it will yellow if in sunlight. Love the bench around the tree!
Thanks for the tip!
Any recommendations for a sealant that doesn't yellow?
@@StoneCottageHome Sorry, we've used the flex seal as well but the opaque white. A friend used it on his boat and it's really evident where he did, mind you boats are in full blast of the sun 24/7, so you may be okay, especially if it's shaded.
Good morning, friends!
It's patio season!
Today, Matt & I have some new, creative spring patio DIY projects for you. Enjoy!
The overall project is beautiful Rachel and Matt. I think I like the gate best.
Thank you, Miss Terri!

Looks great!
Thank you!
I'm sure you will spend many happy hours in your lovely new space! Great job, both of you!!
Thanks, friend!
What beautiful and fun diy projects! Q: with the spray staining on the fence, what is going on with the neighbors side, does the spray go through the fencing, or over the top, and does it spray/wreck anything on their side of the fence? Love birdbaths!
Good morning!
Great questions! Stain does have a tendency to float, so it's best to stain on a day that isn't windy. Also, it's important to use the proper sprayer tip to better control the distribution. A minor amount of stain does go through the fence, but not enough to cause any damage. When staining the top of the fence, Matt switches tips on the sprayed to one that is angled downward to control the direction of the spray.
This neighbor split the fence installation with us and stained his side as well. Thanks for stopping by!
I did a birdbath like this. Was gorgeous, but has weathered terribly. Some plates I used had the top layer peel off just like shale rock. I was brokenhearted as some cannot be repaired. I used a lot of the blue and white, too. I may try another one, but mine was huge and very labor intensive. I actually mourned its demise.
Remember, friend, it's just a birdbath and old plates. Try again! You'll enjoy the out come for years!
That was a beautiful process. Everything is so well made and handcrafted! Great ideas! 💚
Thank you!
Beautiful job. Matt’s painting tips are helpful. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome!
