    In these tug a war competitions it's about traction mostly. That weight definitely gives toyota the advantage on traction. I love tundras, I have one myself, but that's a 3/4 ton chevy, it's definitely built to pull better. Especially if it's a duramax

    Nice! The weight in the bed played a big roll in this tug of war game. Off topic though, Look at the size comparison to the Chevrolet! Tundra is a big big truck if not the biggest truck of all the American made full size pickup trucks! Wish they made a 3/4- 1Ton truck. Even if they used the same 5.7L iForce V8 engine. Turbo charged or supercharged with a heavier suspension, and a dually would be nice!

      I own a 2010 crew max Tundra and have carried pallets that compressed wood bricks that I use instead of messy real firewood with all the surprise insects that are dormant hiding in the bark, that is until they get into a nice warm house. Anyway each pallet weighs just over one ton and I have the pallet right up to the cab and the trip back from where I pick these up is 85-90 miles from my house and the truck handles that weight easily.

    People rag on toyotas all the time for "not being a real truck" (despite being the most american truck on the market), but I still remember, long before i was even a toyota fan, going to a local truck pull out here in the IL boonies. One of the local toyota dealerships sent out a demo truck and actually had a salesman enter it in the truck pulls, pulled in stock class and beat every single truck out of about 30 that night on stock tires, stock suspension, even stock exhaust. 100% bone stock and got a full pull with more power to give. They may get horrible gas mileage, but they are a force to be reckoned with when it comes to towing/pulling.

      Tundra would probably still win, there is like 2 videos of stock Chevy's winning and like 20 of stock Tundras winning. Not to mention they put the payload in there because the stock Chevy is: Diesel, in 4wd, and already weighs like 1000lbs more. And the Chevy couldn't even pull it with the tundra doing nothing but sitting there. Weak ass Chevy. I know you Chevy fans think y'all are so great, just wait until Toyota puts out a one ton diesel truck. Chevy will be sent packing EASY.

  • @MrItsthething
    @MrItsthething 6 лет назад +21

    The Chevy weighs a good bit more than the Toyota; I think it's a fair fight. The Chevy has way more torque than the Toyota but that doesn't matter if the wheels are spinning. Lots of variables here - everything from weight to tire width and thickness.

    Doesn't the heavy Chevy weigh more in the 1st place? Isn't the weight over the front wheels of the Chevrolet also? Isn't the rear weight of the tundra giving it less weight in the front end? There are too many variables for this to be fair either direction. I like when they line them all up with a horse trailer that weighs 5000 pounds and drag race. That's fair

    Put Equal weight in the Duramax and do the test again. The weight in the Tundra help give it traction and the wheels don't spin.

    • @johnboswell441
      @johnboswell441 3 года назад

      The Duramax probably still weighs more than the Tundra even with weight in the bed of the Tundra. The 2500HD weighs around 7680 pounds and at most the Tundra weighs 5675 pounds(without the weight in the bed). So the 2500HD started out with a 2000 pound weight advantage

    • @edpauly1650
      @edpauly1650 3 года назад +1

      I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500hd with the Duramax. Most its weight is in the front half of the truck. It has more torque going to the wheels. If it loses traction the tires will break free and spin. When I put weight it the bed when driving in snow that's on the ground the tire don't break free as easy. Weight in the bed of a truck over the rear axle makes a huge difference.

    Let's look at it this way, Tundra has weight in the bed, Duramax has none. Duramax does have the weight advantage on the front end though. Looks like the tundra also had better tires. Also the driver of the was smart enough to wait for the Duramax to lose traction 1st. Guy in the duramax should've just stood on the brakes after he drug the tundra and let him ruin his tires.

    what happens that brings weight the tundra looks crushed from behind because the silverado does not grip the tires well because it is scraping over the pavement put a load on any truck and you will see which pulls more it is as if you were to be off road you lower air the tires if you don't do that, you get stuck.

      As in most (at least fair) tug-of-war contests, weight was added to the Tundra to equal the overall weight of the Chevy. If you look closely, you'll notice the rear of the Chevy was also sagging a bit (lower than front), meaning it was carrying some weight as well.

    Honestly, it was considered cheating from the Tundra guy because his tires were thicker which means more grip, on the other hand, the Duramax had thinner tires (almost no grip), before someone comments something negative, I work for a tire shop. Also the Tundra is low, making the Duramax to be levitated from the front.
