My vote goes to Chainsaw Man. It's only one season so far (12 episodes), but I'd really like to hear what you guys think of it's characters and their motivations. Also, every episode has a different ending, each with its own song and art style (with the exception of episode 1 only having the song).

People have theorized that Truth knew that what happened to Mustang was unfair, which was why he simply lost his vision instead of getting his eyes plucked out of his head. Its been a brutal taking with every other sacrifice but the Truth was pretty merciful to Mustang.
Also Mustang is the only one whom the truth didn't talk to because he doesn't need to learn his lesson as he never wanted to open the portal. truth only admonishes those that open the portal willingly to get something.
I don't think Truth cares. The whole "it is punishing you" is just Father's hypothesis. It is an equivalent exchange in the sense that Mustang now has the knowledge from Truth in exchange for his eyesight.
May I remind you that Bradley has: - Had his train blown up over a gorge with him on it - Walked for at least 24 hours to get back to Central - Took down a tank by himself - Singlehandedly turned the tide of the fight between Central and Briggs - Was stabbed through the abdomen - Had his Ultimate Eye destroyed by Greedling - Was shot in the shoulder - Fell a minimum of 50m into a moat - Swam through a sewer - And is currently going head-to-head with Scar Bradley, alongside Levi from AoT, is the definition of badass in anime.
Ed had bleeding stumps where his limbs were, Al got disintegrated, and Izumi had long-lasting health complications from her organs being removed until Hohenheim came along. If it’d been equivalent to Roy’s price, the boys would be varying levels of paralyzed and Izumi merely rendered infertile. If Roy’s price had been like theirs, he’d have a huge, open gash on his face where his eyes used to be. As bad as it is for him to go blind, the nature of his blindness is far more tame a price than Truth has taken so far. It’s like Truth went easy on Roy, possibly because of how unfair it all was.
That only becomes more obvious if you watch the OVA / read the bonus chapter The Blind Alchemist, who introduces us to an alchemist that did human transmutation and had his eyes taken as a toll. Let's just say that for him, it wasn't just a matter of "your eyes don't work now".
Meanwhile Pride, a supposedly undying being, came through with a degrading body. I have a feeling that the majority of the Truth's toll was taken from him :P
There's another trope this episode turned on its head: normally a selfless sacrifice is used to defeat the antagonist of the story, however in this episode Al's selfless act might doom the world because Father now has all the sacrifices he needs. Just some more great writing by FMAB's author.
The thing i always found interesting about Mustang's crossing of the truth gates is that unlike the others he didn't lose a body part. Like, yeah he cant see but his eyes are still there and the fact that he isn't bleeding from them means the optic nerve is intact, and the fact that he isnt having a seizure means his brain is as well. I think the Truth took his eyesight because he did cross the gate and saw knowledge like the others, but because he did nothing wrong and was forced, the Truth was lienient and didn't actually left him bleeding. Thats my theory at least.
The amount of trust Mustang and Hawkeye put in each other is so incredible. They always trust the other is goimg to watch their back, and in this episode Hawkeye trusted Roy to understand what she was trying to convey to him with a single look, and Roy trusted Hawkeye's plan.
Everyone else has lost organs that cannot be replaced with alchemy, Mustang did open the gateway even if it was invulentary so he still needed to pay the toll, however he kept his eyes but lost his sight so truth seemed to have taken that into account.
There is one thing that I would have really loved to see. Prides interaction with the Truth which occurred at the same time as the Truth having its interaction with Mustang.

It’s hinted that Truth was cutting him some slack for being forced to do it. If Mustang did it willingly, he probably would’ve literally lost his eyes.
So here’s one of the most fascinating things of truth. It’s secrets and aspects are ALWAYS on the table. There’s no special day where it’s better to be done. Ed wants to retrieve ALL of Al from Truth, and Al wants to get Ed’s limbs back. But if they don’t have some kind of solution in mind, all it does is make them pay another toll. Al likely wouldn’t survive another toll being paid, and Ed has little else to give. Without some sense of certainty, they’ll lose EVERYTHING they have. The only way to bypass it is use a philosopher’s stone to retrieve Ed and Al’s form. But because that comes at the cost of sacrificing life, neither will go to that length to return their lives. Lust when she perished actually eluded to Mustang’s fate within truth. “I love how cold and focused your eyes are. I look forward to when they are wide from agony. It’s coming.” They likely understood what each of their presumed candidates within truth would sacrifice. Marcoh wanted to be free from the military and wanted to help heal people to heal his sins of Ishval. My guess is he would lose motor functions of some kind and be unable to escape from anything he feared for all eternity. Kimblee himself was marked for not having the nerve to use truth because with his ambitions, I imagine he figured how steep the cost would be. Terrible but true. It’s the intent that causes the rebound. It’s the action that causes the entrance. Once you step in without a philosopher’s stone, you sacrifice. But as we noticed, Pride appears worse for wear as well. The stone doesn’t go untouched. It gets depleted. Wrath made a distinct decision in choosing to fight scar. He allowed May, the chimeras, and Hawkeye escape as they go to fight father. Humans can learn, can change, that’s one more reason why I can’t stand you. Yet his decision fueled by emotion leaves an opening to Father. This episode is outstanding. But this is just the START of the insanity to come.

It also breaks a lot of anime codes or clichée so you can’t really predicts what’s gonna happen. Anyway I hope you’ll react to it one day, I love your reactions !
The thing is, neither one of the people who willingly opened the portal got what they _wanted_ (the person they had lost9 but they all got _knowledge._ If Mustang was able to see the Knowledge too, then he has recieved payment for the eyes and the exchange is still 'valid' so to speak.
For healing alchemy without a stone, I presume it's essentially the same concept as when Edward restored Al's metal body. Since some of the metal was just completely gone he had to slightly thin out the metal to fully put him back in once piece. In terms of a living body, it's just refusing and reconnecting the flesh, skin, and organs as best as possible. Certainly not 100% as durable and would require further natural healing or medical help buy at the very least, you can reconnect what was damaged.
I agree with Montana on the losing your vision part. I would much rather lose even my whole body (like Al) than have my vision taken from me. I might be a little biased since I have bad vision due to a disease, but still, my eyesight is easily one of the most important things in life to me, even more so than all of my other senses.
If you ever have the opportunity to stand under a total eclipse of the sun, you really should. It's unlike anything you've seen. Most people think it just gets dark like it does every night, but it's a completely different experience.
Truth is like the truth of the universe and human transmutation circle is more of an gate way to truth in a sense and the tolls they paying is for them to get all the knowledge of the universe. Mustang probably got the knowledge and payed the price. My Mother always says if you put your hands on fire you will be burned doesn't matter if you did it knowingly or unknowingly and in this case forced I guess. At least that's what I think
the real name of Scar is "Jugemu-jugemu Gokōnosurikire Kaijarisuigyo-no Suigyōmatsu Unraimatsu Fūraimatsu Kūnerutokoroni-sumutokoro Yaburakōjino-burakōji Paipopaipo-paiponoshūringan Shūponoshūringanno-gūponīkoprinda" but Scar is more easy... XD
Just as a follow up, when both the boys and Izumi used human transmutation what was created was not a body waiting in “the truth” but a random assortment of human parts needed to create a human. Remember they gathered all the chemical ingredients of a human being, these ingredients were not traded for a body they were deconstructed and then reconstructed to form them. That’s why when Pinoko is going through the remains the parts do not all match up and it’s why death is permanent and cannot be undone, Als body could not leave “the truth” without his soul as only it was compatible with him and it’s why he couldn’t leave with Ed earlier
Also slight thing I just noticed. Idk if it’s just al’s body sounding more tired and quiet but it almost sounds like al’s soul in the armor has a higher pitched voice because the armor can’t… yknow… go through puberty. Meanwhile the body’s voice might have gotten deeper than the soul’s over the course of their separation
The irony is if Al did the mildly selfish thing and took back his body, he would’ve beaten Father without throwing a single punch, but Pride was right. Al is TOO selfless, SO selfless in fact, he’s gonna end up giving Father and the other remaining homunculi exactly what they want.
@@ritster21 because Al’s body and Al’s soul would merge and be stuck there with the truth until Ed came for him. Now the suit of armor would be empty and still on Earth, leaving Father with only four candidates not the five he needs, and it be too close to his objective to try and figure out something else to do. Father getting thrown an unexpected curve ball by Al being uncharacteristically selfish would have been just what they needed, but that’s why Ed and Al were chosen, because they’re selfless; and that’s what Pride tried explaining to Al back at the dome, that him and his brother are selfless even to their own detriment. Not that Al knew he should stay.
If Scar destroyed the floor while Wrath and Pride had Mustang… I feel like Mustang would be at best joining Havoc on the Broke Back Bench… and at worst joining Hughes one way or another
Mustnag losing his vision wasn't a lesser toll, it was a lesser transaction. Ed, Al, and Izumi all tried to raise someone from the dead; Mustang was only forced to physically transfigure a person, not try to bring them back from the dead. His transmutation didn't have as high of a cost as an actual soul, so he didn't pay the cost of a soul. And then, as Father pointed out, the Truth takes from those who would bargain through a sense of irony. Izumi wanted her child, and lost her womb (can never have another). Ed wanted his mother, and lost his arm to hold those he loves. Ed also wanted his brother back, and lost his leg so that he could never stand on his own again. Al wanted to feel the warmth of a mother's love, and can never feel anything again.
I have always thought like... perhaps alchehestry uses the energy from the infirms own body to heal itself, maybe? So you're not necessarily gaining something from nothing, you're just using the energy that would be used over time instantly instead.
I think the truth knows Roy doesn't deserve to lose something, but he had to take something from him, so taking his sight is the absolute minimum that wouldn't harm him physically. I guess you can argue what would be a minimum, but perhaps him losing his eyes teaches him to rely on the people around him more, especially hawkeye, being the final stage of training he needs to go through before becoming leader. Sort of... Learn how powerless you can be, you need the people around you?

11:35 you figured out that foreshadowing, everytime a character dies in a épisode, it Can be seen on the break animation, but we don't hear "fullmetal Alchemist"
Gotta be honest, I don't think I will ever quite understand how, even now, Kenny thinks that Father would potentially take Al's body to use for himself. Father has gone on and on and on about humans' inferiority, the homunculi (which are aspects of him, thus share his beliefs) also generally look down upon and despise humans, and it's been made pretty clear that Father is aiming to become a perfect being, so why would he want to inhabit an actual human body? Would it thematically make for an interesting final boss, Ed vs Al's body? Sure. Does it make any sense at all for it to happen? No. Has there been any real evidence pointing toward it happening aside from Kenny's headcanon? Also no. It's just weird that it's still on the table in Kenny's mind.
look at 23:48 at this point you can really see Mei has developed strong feeling for Al, despite not knowing how he really looks. this coming from someone that when first appeared show only interest in Edward because she thought he was really handsome.
Losing your sight is scary but having your soul grafted onto an inanimate object could be potentially worse, depending on the object in question and also if your soulwas grafted on an animal or another human body, it could be quite horrifying
Scar's name is "Percival Ramgene Gregory Nicolai Jacques Scozer Leonardo Gabriel Socrates Ming Victor Nostradamus Alistair Predisha Vladimir Stiegler Rasputin Boromir Walla Walla Shadiga Alexander Oliver Abalard Arnesto Zippy Zappy Angel Eyes."
One thing that occurred to me on this most recent watch through- why not use the Gold Tooth Doctor as their 5th? It wouldn’t be hard for Father to manipulate him into opening the gateway, I feel like, and we wouldn’t need all the risk of this path
I mean yea I'm with Montana. If you take my eyes from me I gotta go. They are that good to begin with but not being able to watch anime is too much for me.
To be clear, it is not specified that Alphonse can cross the gate with his body. The assumption is that Al would be stuck at the gate and instead return Ed's arm. So by choosing to return at all, Al has completed the five piece set that Father needs. That's why in an ironic twist, his selfness may in fact be the undoing of the world he wants to protect.
19:43 Nope... Almost All the sins death is based on their sins, or the opposite of it Envy = Envying humans, Gluttony = Getting Eaten, Lust IMO (Wet) = getting dried up Wrath = Gratitude and Love, Greed = Contentment (Not spoilers, they are now finished)

if Alphonse hadn't come back, they'd miss the eclipse, and the plan would fail, or maybe the homunculus would make another last-minute sacrifice to make up for it.

Right, fmab and Death note are considered the top tier for hearing anime in dubbed, and Aot is considered a modern masterpiece.
@@Lawtoncro exactly + a well written story
Yup. I think Monster, Steins;Gate and Cowboy Bebop scratch their itches so hopefully one of those come next.
I believe the author claimed that Edward and the team would’ve lost earlier if King Bradley was in his prime youth with his powers.
Meh. Maybe. If Greedling would just use his Full Ultimate Shield, Wrath wouldn’t be able to hurt him at all.
@@ritster21 have you forgotten how fast Bradley is?
@@Apophis.004 And?
What would his speed do if Greed is already Full Ultimate Shield?
@@ritster21You must be the biggest King Bradley hater I’ve seen lmao. First of all If Greedling went fully armored he would’ve been slower, meaning he wouldn’t catch Bradley who has the best reflexes in the series even without his Ultimate eye. The king is literally the second strongest homunculus behind Pride not including Father obviously
@@ritster21Looks like you don’t know how scaling works. Bradley overall has the better feats and is literally Fullmetal Alchemist’s Zoro 💀
I love seeing how upset people get when these episodes end... the story is so enthralling that when it ends on these cliffhangers you just gotta roll your eyes lol.
13:20 See this moment is why Wrath is THE ULTIMATE OP of the Homunculi in Brotherhood. This man is tore up and battle damaged yet he still wants all the smoke! Lmao he is a demon 😂 thank you Kenny and Montana for reacting to Brotherhood. And I really hope you guys get to Original Fullmetal Alchemist from 2003-2004 and both movies. I promise y'all will not be disappointed:) keep up the great work dream team 💪
Mustang has a vision for the future of a better country
And they took literally his vision

you going to post Deathnote in RUclips? too poor right now due to Covid forcing unemployment
I got this vid to 1000 likes
Have you reacted to FMAb bloopers? They pretty good to watch after the show is finished
7:05. The cat is like "This Bradley-thing looks interesting, possibly a threat....nevermind, it's gone."
Lust - "I look forward to the days those eyes are wide with agony"
5:08 alkahestry is about redirecting the natural flow of qi through the world. It’s still equivalent exchange, but it has its own unique rules
Recommandation : I really think you would like Mob psycho 100 ! The last season just came out, the English dub is really good. It’s a really fun anime with intense fights and a very emotional story about growing up and life in general. It also breaks a lot of anime codes or clichée so you can’t really predicts what’s gonna happen.
Anyway I hope you’ll react to it one day, I love your reactions !
Seconded! Mob psycho is one of my favorites of all time!
OOOOH TRUE! UP FOR THIS
23:12 he can only leave with his own soul.
The thing is, neither one of the people who willingly opened the portal got what they _wanted_ (the person they had lost9 but they all got _knowledge._ If Mustang was able to see the Knowledge too, then he has recieved payment for the eyes and the exchange is still 'valid' so to speak.
Cant believe I had to open today, this is my favorite episode. Sorry I missed the premiere! Yall's reaction to "mustang's dog" was priceless lol
Something that I never noticed until now - the religious theming of pinning Mustang's hands down like that
so excited for you to get to the end of this anime it really is one of the best anime if not the best of all time
every top list where it isn't at minimum in the Top3 is rigged!
It's awesome on Muatang's door, it's the symbol used for Flame Alchemy, on Hawkeyes back. :)
I agree with Montana on the losing your vision part. I would much rather lose even my whole body (like Al) than have my vision taken from me. I might be a little biased since I have bad vision due to a disease, but still, my eyesight is easily one of the most important things in life to me, even more so than all of my other senses.
You literally can’t function without your eyesight.
Sight is humanity’s most important sense.
Just like Smell is a dog’s most important sense.
NOT THE SUS FOR GAPING HOLE! Y'all are wild for that! XD lol
If you ever have the opportunity to stand under a total eclipse of the sun, you really should. It's unlike anything you've seen. Most people think it just gets dark like it does every night, but it's a completely different experience.
Losing your vision is a big deal, just ask Wanda!
bu-dum tss..
Aw man, next episode is the BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER I'VE EVER SEEN.
I can't wait . . .
That signal. Always look at what Hawkeye looks at. She looked up.
Man, I tried holding my cat the same way Kenny does and I must say he didn't like it
Pride and Wrath Duo ☕
Father-son bonding time!
What Pride and Wrath did was the dirtiest trick you could pull, but it was desperate. There will be repercussions for both sides.
Assuming he got to see the Truth for the price he paid, Imagine the last thing you see being Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Wrath: Homunculus too Angry to Die. More News at 11.
“ I bought that shake weight you see on tv ten minutes a day everyday”
18:56 Bradley? Pride? This isn’t 2003!
The irony is if Al did the mildly selfish thing and took back his body, he would’ve beaten Father without throwing a single punch, but Pride was right. Al is TOO selfless, SO selfless in fact, he’s gonna end up giving Father and the other remaining homunculi exactly what they want.
Huh? How would Al getting his body back beat Father?
@@R.J.Godzilla81 Ah. Yes. You’re right. So much easier if they just left the country until the Promise Day was over.
@@ritster21 exactly 👍
If Scar destroyed the floor while Wrath and Pride had Mustang… I feel like Mustang would be at best joining Havoc on the Broke Back Bench… and at worst joining Hughes one way or another
no, the exchange was taking a glimpse inside the portal of truth and having your powers amplified.
Furer Bradley died, not by wrath of another but by assistance of the very ting he refused to believe in and by a hand of a person who believed it.
Really Attack On Titaning towards the end with these cliffhanger endings
"His brain?" 😂
Indeed, regardless of gender, all characters are amazing. The author herself is certainly a good representation of a powerful and amazing being.
Every time the death note theme starts playing when y'all are talking about the new series is so incredibly hype
For Mustang, it's still equivalent exchange because he now have seen the truth.
This anime is so good it's frustrating 😂 I wish I could wipe my memory just to watch it again
16:56 is my favourite part of this episode cos Father is my second favourite character in this show
scar's real name is Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonā no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke.
also by complete coincidence Bradley's real name is also Jugemu Jugemu Go-Kō-no-Surikire Kaijari-suigyo no Suigyō-matsu Unrai-matsu Fūrai-matsu Kū-Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yaburakōji no Burakōji Paipo Paipo Paipo no Shūringan Shūringan no Gūrindai Gūrindai no Ponpokopii no Ponpokonā no Chōkyūmei no Chōsuke.
Cool little fun fact: In the German dubs Edward and Sokka share the same VA. It was actually the reason why I got into the series at first.
They come to the stupidest conclusions sometimes
look at 23:48
at this point you can really see Mei has developed strong feeling for Al, despite not knowing how he really looks.
this coming from someone that when first appeared show only interest in Edward because she thought he was really handsome.
Losing your sight is scary but having your soul grafted onto an inanimate object could be potentially worse, depending on the object in question and also if your soulwas grafted on an animal or another human body, it could be quite horrifying
i cannot wait for you guys to watch the last few episodes they just keeps getting better
Ah but Roy received the same “gift” everyone gets upon seeing the truth
why are they so committed to father wanting to take al's body. its literally never came up in the show before
Scar's name is "Percival Ramgene Gregory Nicolai Jacques Scozer Leonardo Gabriel Socrates Ming Victor Nostradamus Alistair Predisha Vladimir Stiegler Rasputin Boromir Walla Walla Shadiga Alexander Oliver Abalard Arnesto Zippy Zappy Angel Eyes."
One thing that occurred to me on this most recent watch through- why not use the Gold Tooth Doctor as their 5th? It wouldn’t be hard for Father to manipulate him into opening the gateway, I feel like, and we wouldn’t need all the risk of this path
I love how Kenny forgot about the first and strongest homunculus 😆
I mean yea I'm with Montana. If you take my eyes from me I gotta go. They are that good to begin with but not being able to watch anime is too much for me.
To be clear, it is not specified that Alphonse can cross the gate with his body. The assumption is that Al would be stuck at the gate and instead return Ed's arm. So by choosing to return at all, Al has completed the five piece set that Father needs. That's why in an ironic twist, his selfness may in fact be the undoing of the world he wants to protect.
Mustang lost his sight and not his actual eyes...
Imagine if FMAB was remade with modern animation, I'd lose it
19:43 Nope...
Almost All the sins death is based on their sins, or the opposite of it
Envy = Envying humans, Gluttony = Getting Eaten, Lust IMO (Wet) = getting dried up
Wrath = Gratitude and Love, Greed = Contentment (Not spoilers, they are now finished)
I think the transmutation took something out of Pride. This is why matter, for matter, the toll for Mustang was not equivalent.
18:12 why do you think his vision’s gone and not his eyes?
Now mustang can do alchemy without the glows with transmutation circle
I love mustang and riza in this ❤
Truth takes what the people who did human transmutation value the most for them to learn a lesson.
Lust literally predicted the future
I am super excited for the final episodes here and the start of Death Note!
You guys are so smart so it will be interesting to see how well you keep up with the show and even if you can predict some vital things. :D
if Alphonse hadn't come back, they'd miss the eclipse, and the plan would fail, or maybe the homunculus would make another last-minute sacrifice to make up for it.
Brace yourselves, it's going to be a *wild* ride from here on out...
Your banter is so funny/ sweet-- cutest couple ever! Also, Cheyanne is just radiating love and its beautiful to see :D
