The funny thing here is that whenever my dad makes fried rice at the restaurant, this is what he does 😂 tosses the spices into the giant spoon and goes to town on the rice
yeah this fried rice thing is really common in thailand actually. TBH im not much big fan of it but the classic fried is the best ahah. Maybe its because i grew up eating it nearly everday and also when i have the time i cook by myself to because its quite easy and delicious. edit: Lime is the best thing awnay to refresh every food especially in asian cuisine.
my favorite fried rice is... my mom's. usually just : - Garlic, carrot, pork, chili pepper, cucumber, and green onion (diced) - Tomatoes and Chinese cabbage (cut to bite size) - Green peas and bean sprout (for extra veggies because she uses a decent amount of pork) - Seasoned with : 2 tbs of soy sauce 1½ tbs of Chinese cooking wine 2 tsp of garlic oil 1 tsp of pepper 1 tsp of salt 2 tsp of 5-spice powder lime juice

Oh man, the plating and presentation here looked so authentic. usually, I'm not a big plating guy, but the spherical look of the rice and the pineapple stem looked really gorgeous!
For me, my favorite really has to be Khao Pad Gai, Thai fried rice with chicken. I really like this combination of rice, egg, tomato, chicken spring onion and white onion. Add a dash of Prik nam pla, combined with a little of some additional spices like lemongrass and galangal, and sprinkle with fresh coriander leaves, add fresh cucumber and lime slices - and thats's it. Simply awesome. And if you make the Prik Nam Pla yourself, you can adjust the spicyness to your tastes :)
I had leftover Chinese fried rice and yakimeshi from a Japanese restaurant. I made some scrambled egg with miso stock and a little bit of canola and sesame oil in the bottom of the pan, adding a little orange marmalade to mix into the oils. I then mixed the two and lightly mostly heated it through enough to blend the flavors. It was divine.
I gotta say this is really close to what we have here in Malaysia. Probably a similar recipe since the one we have here is originated from Thailand. The only difference is a few spices (whole Star anise, cumin and cinnamon sticks are used when baking it) and we cut the pineapple in huge chunks for texture. The lime is placed at the side and squeezed before we eat it. But all in all it’s really close. Kudos chef! Really good job on this recipe !
"Your pineapple under the sea" I'm really wanting to make this it just looks great, btw just looking at your subs and your so close to peanutbutter squid lol
Fried rice made from a leftover stew sauce. Dried fish with a simple seasoning of pepper, onion and garlic, the dried fish is salty so lessen the salt or use kosher salt instead. And Sisig fried rice, spicy the best. 🍛🤪👌
I'm so glad I did my grocery shopping before this video haha. So now I'm eating caprese salad while watching this video, otherwise I would have perished of hunger. I am also very glad we have the ability to buy real Italian buffalo mozzarella in grocery stores here & there are no real shortages of anything. I needed to have caprese salad again, it's such a quintessential summer food for me 😋
“Season your spoon because we don’t season the stir fry” Later adds more salt 😂. Your content is always the best! Appreciate you so much and can’t ask for more lol.
I can't believe how well that rice turned out. It looked just like how it did in the show! That's so freaking cool!! I like to have my rice a few different ways: Simple white rice with a pad of butter When I make teriyaki chicken, I like to add it into the pan I cooked the chicken in to whatever crispiest are left at the bottom. I dump it in a baking pan to absorb the fat and vegetable juices when I make tri-tip, pork shoulder, or chicken. I love Spanish rice. My mom and aunt used to make it all the time when I was a kid. I never got around to learning how to make it though. And then there's my old favorite rice and sauce. Just rice, tomato sauce, ground beef, and some corn. Sometimes we make a pork sauce, but I always preferred the ground beef. One time I was able to make the transforming furikake rice. That was the coolest thing ever.
When I was younger my parents took me to a really nice open air Thai restaurant with some ice-cold pandan water and the tom yum kung, the usual. The killer for me though, was pineapple fried rice served in a pineapple half. It's something I would definitely consider a childhood favourite of mine that I still indulge in to this day. If you want a suggestion from me, cook this and incorporate tom yum in some way, you will not regret it. The acidity of the pineapple just fuses itself with the tom yum's sweetness and spiciness. Not only that but tom yum by itself already typically uses lime in it so I think it's right up your alley.
I usually start with the half of the green onions and garlic w/ the oil, creating that fragrant green onion oil before putting everything else. That looks lovely
Pineapple fried rice is a huge thing around the thai restaurants around my home, and even with my friends and family (filipino islander malaysian and viet peeps). Curry powder and garam masala plus spicy spice of choice (cayenne, gochugaru, thai chili), protein(s) of choice (chinese sausage and shrimp here), nuts of choice (I use peanuts or walnuts or cashews, whatever is around), oniony and garlic-y things, and sweet thing of choice (apple juice, raisins, cinnamon, clove). Then omg easiest and tastiest home fried rice ever
My favorite fried rice is the "3 ingredient special" from a local Asian restaurant: spicey rice with mixed vegetables, smokey ham, egg, giant shrimp and your choice of either beef tenderloin, chicken breast or extra shrimp.
Considering I like pineapple salsa and yes, PINEAPPLE ON PIZZA, I think I would really like this dish. I think pineapple can pair very well with a savory dish because I think the sweetness is like a good palette...divider? I just think the sweetness of pineapple can compliment certain savory dishes.
I like shrimp and pineapple fried rice. It's one of my favorites. I qa a hoping you'd add some 🍤 to the recipe. It goes so well with the curry flavors and the sweet/tart pineapple flavor.
tip: seperate the yolk, medium fry whites, mix yolk with day old rice and stir fry , add the other fried ingredients and give a good toss, the yolk covered rice gives a better mouth feel and the flecks of white is pretty appealing too
1:37 when you want to trim some ginger, use a spoon to scratch the peel it is way faster and easier and you have less waste ! (sorry for the bad english)
Interesting. Most of my fried rice is just me recycling old rice so I won't need to throw then away. Very basic, onion, garlic, egg, salt and pepper. I'll probably go for this once I get my slice skills up to par. I have a hard time slicing stuff very even at the best of times. Looks good, though. Have to wonder if not cooking it in the pineapple will actually be that big of a difference. Nice wok, too. Bought mine a little too big but it gets a lot of use. Haha

Also because I was following my notes from this video while I cooked it, I forgot to add in the ham I wanted to! Oh well. Still pretty good. I'm not a fan of spice, so I skipped the spice part. I did though put safron threads in the rice to give it that yellow color. My cats were also very interested while I was cooking, but decided it wasn't for them when I let them sniff it.
