Great review! One thing noted, there was no mention of the hydro Pearl finish 2.0. Seen Rick Sheils put water on the face and hit balls and virtually lost no backspin which is amazing! Ping Glide 3.0 wedges have the same finish and they are the king of wet spin. Certainly a great reason I’ll be testing the i210’s and possibly combining them with the G425’s in 7 iron thru 5 or 4 iron. Need that decent angle to be closer to 45 deg so maybe have the G425’s bent weaker 1.5 degrees. This will match up with the i210’s in power spec.
Thanks for the feedback and input Stephen, Ping's Power and Retro Spec capability are really useful if you're looking for very specific characteristics. Let us know how they go.
I have just discovered your channel. Excellent data-filled reviews. Thanks. I have been a Ping player since my dad handed down his eye 2's to me. I have had many Ping sets of irons over the years and currently play the i20's. My handicap Index is currently 12.7 and I am looking to get new irons. I am interested in the G425 - OR - whatever might be replacing the i500s with. I certainly like the extra forgiveness of the G425's compared with the i500's (reviewed in other videos), but how limited will workability be with the G425's? My i20's are not very forgiving and my misses can easily lose 20-25% distance. Probably a lot like the i500's. So, do you believe the i500 (or it's replacement would be a better fir for me than the G425? Thanks, Tony
Thanks for taking the time to say so Tony, really appreciate the feedback. How often are you realistically looking to 'work' shots? In the modern game a lot of pro's are hitting lots of straight shots that fall one side of the target line or the other, there's a lot less shaping that some might think. As much as the G425 irons are lovely, their longer blade lengths do make it more of a challenge to shape, if that's a priority in your own game.
We're just running our Best of 2021 tests now Matthew. We'll have a 'Best Mid-Handicap Iron - 2021' video up in a few weeks, it will include both models.
Nice Review. Hopefully, Today's Golfer will do irons comparison test among Ping G425 irons against all irons which have 30 degree loft on their iron #7. It will be a real apple to apple irons comparison test with different brand.
Thanks for the feedback Narendra. We're just working on our 2021 test sessions at the moment. There will certainly be a "Mid-Handicap / Game Improver'' iron test. We will include 7-iron lofts so viewers can see for themselves how clubs with the same lofts perform.
We've just hit all three as part of our winter testing program Darren. The Wilson was by far the longest (187 yards compared to the 175 yards - Ping and 170 yards with the UHX). Ping had the smallest cary distance drop-off though 4.6% compared to the Cleveland 8.8% and 10.2% with the Wilson. Once the tests are written up you'll be able to see the results here bit.ly/3cS07Ll and we'll do a video in March too.
@@todaysgolfer i love what you two guys do and Thank you ever so much for your reply. Would you say the cleveland are a good bet at a much cheaper price than the ping as i think the ping are ecpensive? Which set has the least offset would you say
@@darrenbell6376 The UHX are nice Darren. Offset is 4.5mm in the Cleveland and 4.25mm in the Ping so there's not a ton of difference in the mid irons at least. The Cleveland are two years old in July, so there might be some bargains around on them a little later in the year. Hope that helps.
@@todaysgolfer Many Thanks I've been watching reviews of the cobra radspeed and I'm going to get a fitting on them as they look more compact with less offset i think

The offset is more progressive,. There's still quite a bit in the longer irons (where golfers need it) where the shorter irons have less. Hope that helps.
HI GOOD EVENING I am from India ,I am playing with G2 and my 2nd set is G5 but now want to get a new set the G425 ,can you please guide me were in india I can get fitted for my new set ... Thank you .
@@todaysgolfer thanks for the response, I have hit the 425s and they are a very nice club, I did not actually notice the gouge when playing but it still looks odd. I also tried the 710s and did not like them at all, it could have been the shaft as they were consistently pushed right vs my normal straight.

How do these compare to the T300 in the forgiveness category, particularly on off centre hits?

Love my ping 424 irons and driver
Using the G30, so may be worth the upgrade.
Looking at these with the wilson d9, any thoughts have you tried the d9. Don't suppose you've hit cleveland uhx have you

I just bought a set I can’t wait
Good choice Mike, hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for the feedback Paul, very much appreciated.
Is the offset on the 425s less than the G5’s? The offset on the G5’s don’t seem to fit my eye..

Can't get on with that offset unfortunately 😕
Performs exactly the same as g410?
HI GOOD EVENING
I am from India ,I am playing with G2 and my 2nd set is G5 but now want to get a new set the G425 ,can you please guide me were in india I can get fitted for my new set ... Thank you .
Hi Rahul, sorry we're based in the UK, so we have no contacts in India that we can recommend. Apologies.
These are now becoming my 1st choice of upgrade from my i3's.
Maybe it’s time to upgrade from my G20!
We'd love to know how much difference you see David.
My thoughts exactly.. time to update the g20s
But what’s that gouge in the back of the shaft for? Does it have a function?
It's the back of the heel, it removes inefficient weight and means the hosel can be more easily bent for loft and lie angle changes.

The guy with the glasses uses the word brilliant every sentence. I don’t think the word means what he thinks it means.
