This is easily the most informative video when it comes these clubs after watching all the other ones. I just bought these and you have set my mind to ease. Excellent video!!
I went to a club fitting and shot 6 different brand irons, I have always been a Callaway fan and have owned nothing but for the last 14 years, I loved the way the G425 felt and reacted with my swing. When all was done it came down to Callaway Mavrik or the Ping G425 and after a cople more rounds of each I purchased the new Ping's! Time will tell if my decision was correct but I loved them at the simulator! Thanks for the review!
I tested a 7 iron on the nearest golf store trackman, brought in my own 7 iron ping zing 2 to compare. I've never been fitted for clubs and ping zings were a hand me down from family member. Store club fitter gave me a club 1inch longer than my own, instant feeling of perfect set up. I hit 10 balls with my 7 iron, 134yds ave. Hit 30-40 with G425 green code 7 iron, 155yd ave and tight dispersion. Felt so good. I've ordered a set 4-pw and will have them in 6 weeks. I can't wait, super excited.
@@rolfmeijer1622 i've played 6 rounds so far, they are fabulous. Getting used to yardage increase compared to ping zing 2 of old. G425 Shafts are 1.5inches longer (green dot)
Definitely the best looking PING G Irons ever! Playing a set of Irons like these would make the game so much easier for the majority of Golfers, with these looking so good there are fewer reasons not to game them.
These might be my long irons 5-7 combo with i210’s in the short irons. GW-8 or maybe i500’s. Love the hydro Pearl finish for better spin in the wet similar to the glide 3.0’s. Custom fit will be in 2022 due to hip replacement surgery in December 2021
Good, balanced review. There are so many good clubs to consider if you’re in the market for a new set, so thorough reviews like this really do help. Well done.
Never had ping irons but the G400 is the best driver I’ve ever had. Would love to test them. Gotta be honest, I don’t really care about the noise a club makes as long as it’s consistent
Awesome review Dan I have purchased the set after hitting the driver and loving it, bought a set of irons 5 to sw with the ping cb graphite shaft unfortunately a snap 5 day lockdown here in Melbourne means they sit in the bag for a little while longer.
Nice review, much better than bashing into a sim. I was hoping Ping would bring out a replacement for i210. Going to test Srixon ZX7 & Titliest T100s irons when golf returns, as an outsider Wilson CB's but only if they look better in the flesh
I just ordered a set of these this morning after getting fitted for the first time. I’ve gone for 5 - GW and a 4 hybrid. I hit them longer than my current clubs and with a higher flight. Really looking forward to using them when they arrive!
Hi Dan. Very consistent and informative review. I’m 72 years old and the G425s are going in my bag. Following on from a treasured set of Eye 2s. Reasons; very good experience with Ping clubs over the years, + need the forgiveness. But the clincher is the playability of the wedges. Now I just need a 56* glide to complete the set. As usual, great work, and I so appreciate you not being an egotistical uTube person.
You won't be disappointed. Especially if you go graphite. Easy on the hands and in my opinion feels softer with less vibration on mishits. I'm 70 and played ithe 410s last year and they were great.
Dan another excellent video featuring the Ping G425 Irons. They look great and perform great aswell. It is a shame you are so far away from London, I will once lockdown is over contact Ping directly and go for a bag fitting. Brilliant video, I respect your opinion and value it aswell. Have a good weekend and look forward to seeing your next video.
Placed a custom order on these last week and cannot wait to get them. The label of ‘game improvement’ iron is a bit of a misnomer with the G425. They’re absolutely beautiful in the GI iron category and from the 7/8 iron on down to PW/GW, the offset isn’t as pronounced and the head size is just right. 👌🏼 These will be first set of PING irons and kudos to PING for winning me over. Would have never considered G series irons, but these are a winner for sure.
I'm definitely looking at a new set of irons, and the G425's are on the radar. I'm currently using the G15's and I guess it's time to consider replacing them.
Just recently placed an order for the G425s, after having thought about the 410s for a while, but am also using the G15, will be interesting to see the changes (loft alone looks interesting)
Just purchased a set today. So glad the review was positive, especially on the wedge. I tried 8 clubs TM P770&90, Apex Pro, Apex, Cobra Forged Tec. It was between the 790 and this and the 425 just came out on top due to price £113 pc vs £144 pc and dispersion.
Very interested in these Ping irons. Your review covers all that I was interested in finding out about the irons. I like your thoughts on the use of the PW. I use that iron a bit around the green. Thanks.
Just learnt a new way of looking down, visually! Just got some Zing 2 s that I am hoping to take out soon. They look good especially visually. Now I have a set of G5s, great irons. Both have good feel very close to forged.
You made a very good case for buying them, I might be looking at changing irons soon from my Titleist 716, which look fairly similar in design, ( not having seen the G425's other than on RUclips), I was fitted last year at Ping Gainsborough and enjoyed the professional experience, so I will definitely be looking at these to swap. The only down side for me are the strong lofts, I would prefer slightly weaker lofts in my irons
Those are some very nice looking irons. They continue along Ping's line of clubs of being extremely solid, and good value. I am sure they will be very popular.
More Awesome work..Thanks I am going too buy either a set of g425 irons or mizuno 921 hot metals...I have hit the hot metals..seems very easy to hit and forgiving..
Thanks Dan. They look good and seem to go well. The noise is not an issue for me - outdoors it will not be so noticeable. I may test these to replace my Cleveland Launcher HB irons.
Dan, nice review. Not in the market for a set of Pings, but I particularly like the comparison with your clubs. It keeps in perspective clubs with more aggressive loft. Most times all you see is, wow, it goes a lot further than my 7 iron. Yep, sure does because its really a six with 7 stamped in the bottom. :-)
Hi Dan, great video review. I’ve just been custom fit for these clubs and looking forward to getting these out on the course. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
Up to this point I’ve been planning/intending on buying Titleist irons, based partly on your content but also because I like their designs. But your comments about higher-handicappers plus what I’ve read online suggest that for around £800 I could do a lot worse than a set of these. Starting to think that the best thing to do, post-lockdown, would be a custom fitting and do this properly. I’ve been playing with a set of cheap eBay irons and doing ok (can shoot 98 on our local 72 par course which I’m happy with) but now with a little money to spend I feel it’s the time to do it properly.
Great review Dan. Beautiful looking clubs from Ping yet again. Lots of loft options too in the sets so they should be very popular. I would like to test them out, maybe during your coaching clinic in France (hint hint) later this year. Great review.
Great review Dan. Can't tell you what it means for someone to address the wedges around the greens with these type of clubs, this is a big issue and no one addresses it on youtube. I have the Ping G-Max Irons from a couple of years ago and the S & U Wedges are unusable around the greens. The ball springs off the club face on short chip shots, had to buy some specialist ones. Good to know that isn't an issue here. Keep up the good work, hope you and the boys get on the course again soon for the vlogs.
Great review Dan love your videos very well explained. Lovely clubs tryed them along with DCB, Sim maxO/S,, T400, JPX hot metal, just have to try Radspeed and P790 to make a decision. The G425 and Mizuno were excellent and fair price. The others are lovely but very expensive as a senior 22 handicapper.
Great review Dan as always.... any chance you could review the new Apex DCB irons and possibly a comparison with the G425's? These are the 2 sets I am looking to try once I am able to.
Great review Dan. My No1 iron to try after lock down. Not keen on Arrcos though, surely everyone knows where they played good/bad after their round. Most players i have spoken to who have Arrcos fitted say it is a novelty effect at first then never used again. Talking average golfers mind Dan.
Certainly will be looking at these when allowed and had some more swing practice. Compare these to the COBRA RAD Speed Irons.... have you tested those?
I currently play ping I20 (20handicap short yet good striker) with zero 7 shaft. Do you know if I would benefit to G425 with AWT regular shaft. Do these clubs dig on short irons and wedge and would the extra weight be a problem,? Sorry for long winded question. I did enjoy your review
Arccos actually put me off getting pings when I got fit recently. Love the idea of stats & have got a shot scope v3 ready for when courses open here again…just don’t like the fact I would have to pay a subscription after the first year
As a 18hcp player my wife is buying me a new set for my birthday. I currently use g400 and was at buying the g710 irons. Until these came out. What would you advise Dan ?
Great review again dan and you seem a bit more excited about these clubs or maybe it’s just me lol I’ve never played ping club I had a go of my mates driver years ago and had a laugh with him as I hit it further and straight than he did lol I may in the next few years be looking at clubs like these as I get older and slower and more things not working properly with the body lol
Hey Dan, love the review. Being a Ping i210 player, there not an iron I would look at this stage, but a very similar looking iron and could blend with just about anything in the range.
Tested them. Bought them. Looking to break 90 for the first time this year and even the pro shop guy said I just looked the most confident with these irons. Will update with results!
@@Birdie-Putt have not broken 90 lol but they are fantastic. I’ve actually never broken 100 but I’ve played the best, most consistent golf with these irons. Absolutely love them, can’t blame my terrible game on the tools. 1 in 3 shots is a real golf shot but always find a way to mess up the hole. Shoot 101-103 consistently with these puppies
My first pings … love them They don’t look “game improvement”… I came from the rogue x and those looked way more chunky at address… also hate the name “game improvement”. Anyone shopping for new irons is probably to improve their game…or else why buy new irons, to worsen game??? Anyway, love them../ took them to fitter, upped loft 2 degrees and was already hitting them great before that.
Just subscribed Dan, my first time viewing your channel, really like your presentation. Currently playing Srixon Z565's and Ping G400 woods but at 74 I'm needing some more yardage from my irons. Looking at G410 or these G425's to get fitted soon. PS its currently minus 11°C with snow on the ground here in Kansas so nowhere to go right now, lol
Thanks for tuning in, I have just woken up to snow here also today but not -11 🥶 we have lots more on the channel, feel free to take a look at what we do 👍
Very impressed that you compare Ping 6i with your 5i since you are comparing 2 180y clubs instead of focusing on the number att the bottom of the club 👍
Hi Dan, I do like the look of these clubs. I am an 18 handicapper and looking for a new iron set this year so assume these would be a good test option for my handicap? I’ve always been a Titleist AP1 man as Ping have always looked a bit clumpy but definitely like the look of these.
Currently playing I210 looking to try G425 lost a bit of distance due to age question does the cavity gather debris after playing hate the thought of dirty clubs would put my of buying them for sure 👍🏴
Great review as always. Hoping to get my first custom fit set of irons at the end of this year when my swing is a bit more consistent and these are at the top of my list! Would you recommend getting the matching wedges (UW, GW & LW) to this set or going got speciality wedges e.g. glide 3.0s? What I be gaining/losing by going for one over the other? Thanks.
Excellent review. Nice clubs. Ping have built their reputation on consistent quality, would have liked to see tham have kept the high toe (half the height of ping eye) as this was their signature. “Pinging around the room” 😂🤣
Dan, you are never going to game these clubs. Having said that I might. It was a good honest review and I have hit them and agree with what you said. I think Ping has this clubs evolution to a point of almost perfection. 10 years ago I wouldn't play their version of this club but today as it sits in front of a ball it really looks good and performs well.
Love the content Dan. I do dislike the "game improvement" tag for the more forgiving clubs. Surely all new clubs blades included are designed to improve your game. If they aren't designed to help you improve who would buy them.
Hi Dan, did you happen to try the Utility and lob wedge of the G425. by all accounts Ping have really done well with all the wedges and if I was to go with them I would be tempted to get the full wedge set rather than and more specialised set. just wondering what you think? Thanks, Peter
Nice review Dan, good detailed info that is relevant. I am essentially starting over again with the game and at beginner status... 50+ yrs old. Would these clubs be a good choice for me? I was considering these, the Mizuno JPX Hot Metals, Callaway Big Bertha 21's and Cleveland Launcher UHX. Any info would be helpful, cheers.
Really great review! I'm seriously considering these irons, I'm a little torn between the stock steel shaft and the dynamic gold 105s. Both in regular flex. Can you tell me what if any differences their would be? I demoed the stock shaft and hit them great. Want the try the dg 105s too
Would you consider these in the bag?? Although spin is lower the desent angle would be steeper. So will probably stop just as quick?? I've love to see you game ping "it suits you"
Looking to change my current set of mizuno jpx919 hotmetals and have been researching ping the entire lockdown, was pretty much set on the G710’s but the reviews on the G425’s are giving me a conondrum. What is your view on overall performance/forgiveness on both sets? Thanks
Agreed. Cleveland is substantially cheaper too which is a big one. It’s hard to justify spending a lot more and clubs that don’t really offer any more forgiveness. Is it just a brand thing?
This is easily the most informative video when it comes these clubs after watching all the other ones. I just bought these and you have set my mind to ease. Excellent video!!
Just purchased the entire 425 line, driver, 3 wood, hybrids and 425 irons. Thanks Dan for the review.

Would love to see these against the i525. Also like that you tried them on chip shots around the green.
By far the best review! Finally one out in the real world, swinging on some real grass for a review! haha

Excellent review. Nice clubs. Ping have built their reputation on consistent quality, would have liked to see tham have kept the high toe (half the height of ping eye) as this was their signature. “Pinging around the room” 😂🤣
And Peter Finch is now included the Ping Driver in his bag 😉
The most important part of any review is a comparison how does it perform against other clubs in the same class.
Got the 4 iron in the bag 😉
@@DanHendriksenGolf Dan your not going soft on me are you? :)
Love the content Dan. I do dislike the "game improvement" tag for the more forgiving clubs. Surely all new clubs blades included are designed to improve your game. If they aren't designed to help you improve who would buy them.
What is the swing speed for these results? Did you do any gapping analysis?
Hi Dan. Great Review. Hoping to try these when we can , also planning to try Srixon zx 5 What’s your thoughts comparing the two
We can do that 👍
Hi Dan, did you happen to try the Utility and lob wedge of the G425. by all accounts Ping have really done well with all the wedges and if I was to go with them I would be tempted to get the full wedge set rather than and more specialised set. just wondering what you think? Thanks, Peter
I’m using the 4 iron in my bag right now and going really well 👍
I am not that good but when I tested the PIng irons and Titleist T300 I could not hit them solid because I got terrible turf interaction.
Love ping irons great review
Nice review Dan, good detailed info that is relevant. I am essentially starting over again with the game and at beginner status... 50+ yrs old. Would these clubs be a good choice for me? I was considering these, the Mizuno JPX Hot Metals, Callaway Big Bertha 21's and Cleveland Launcher UHX. Any info would be helpful, cheers.
I think all of the ones you have mentioned would work nicely, my advice is to pick 2 that you like the look of the most and then test 👍
@@DanHendriksenGolf I will do just that. Many thanks and keep up the good work...great Golf info on your channel!!!
Really great review! I'm seriously considering these irons, I'm a little torn between the stock steel shaft and the dynamic gold 105s. Both in regular flex. Can you tell me what if any differences their would be? I demoed the stock shaft and hit them great. Want the try the dg 105s too
I think the only thing will be a weight difference, which may change your strike performance, get testing when we are aloud and let me know 👍
How long is the coating supposed to last, after a few rounds i can see it changing so wonder if the performance would change.
Just left ping g15s for the titleist ap3s. Loved the pings just dont have alot of groove left lol
😂
Solid review👍
Would you consider these in the bag?? Although spin is lower the desent angle would be steeper. So will probably stop just as quick?? I've love to see you game ping "it suits you"
Never have played any Ping irons, as nice as these are, I would not start here, to many other nice clubs on the market 👍
Dan. With arcos built into the grip, does this mean you have to take it to a ping supplier rather than a PGA pro who doesn’t sell ping clubs?.
You can get the extra grips direct from Arcos of which your pro can get 👍
Is the Arccos system worth it?
It’s really good, just have to use it a lot 👍
Looking to change my current set of mizuno jpx919 hotmetals and have been researching ping the entire lockdown, was pretty much set on the G710’s but the reviews on the G425’s are giving me a conondrum. What is your view on overall performance/forgiveness on both sets? Thanks
I think I would prefer the G425 over G710 based on looks alone but that is why you need to test 👍
@@DanHendriksenGolf that’s my plan to test as soon as lockdown is over. Will be intrigued to see how they both go. Thanks for your reply and opinion
Are they as forgiving as launcher HB turbos? I doubt it.
Similar, I think the Launcher will pop them up a little higher off the face 👍
Agreed. Cleveland is substantially cheaper too which is a big one. It’s hard to justify spending a lot more and clubs that don’t really offer any more forgiveness. Is it just a brand thing?
I'd ordered Ping G410 irons before Xmas but Ping have offered to swap me to G425 I have accepted. Do you think that was a good decision?
Yes, definitely 👍
They look lovely, but I'm happy with my i210👍⛳
Question: I am planning to buy new irons this year. With all the wedges with different lofts available is there still room/use for the sand wedge?
Very true but you still need to find a club or two that can work from the sand 👍
great review
Thanks Tom 👍
I was fitted for these irons and bought them do you ever think that I can improve my swing to get a set of p790's in the future?
With work I’m sure you can 👍
what were your yardages for each club? was there a big gap between 9 and pw? or other clubs?
The gapping was pretty normal to be honest 👍
