I have a 2011 LX150ie. Last time I took the front end apart I wired the clock so the battery is in the glove compartment. Now I don't need half a day to change the battery. I guess the Vespa designer should have had an espresso corretto before planning this!

Shame on the Piaggio engineering to hide a clock battery as such! Lots of tricky disassembly here.

Well. To the clock. Horrible design for the battery. / To the gentleman saying Italians don't buy Vespa/Piaggio scooters: October 2018 for weeks vacations. Florence to Sienna to Rome etc... Vespa's where I was driving all around on the streets. Maybe Italians are proud again of Italian engineering? I actually drove because of it to the Piaggio museum. I am actually thinking of buying a Vespa in Panama.

Pretty sure they’d pay out after seeing this video lol

Thank You. I thought my Clock was broken then I discovered it has a Battery. So I learnt from your Video. Though at first after I changed the Battery it didn't work when I put the Bike on the Stand after a ride there was some activity on the display. Then the next Morining I checked the Clock and it was spasmodic , then in the afternoon it worked perfectly needing only to be set. Why it didn't work at first I don't know. There was some Battery leakage from the old Battery so I didn't mind the change but to be dead at first after the change was a concern only for it to work after being left alone. Well done. Though one week on the Clock runs fast gaining 5 minutes a day.

Owner: "What's the first part of the dash assembly that will need servicing"
    Piaggio: "Probably the clock battery"
Owner: "OK, and is that quick and easy to get to?"
    Piaggio: ........
My battery died 8 years ago after 12 months of ownership. I'm replacing the headlight next week and thought I'd put a new battery in at the same time. I'm not going to bother!

Hi I have replaced the battery as shown by you, but when you see if everything works, just colleagues, you have to connect all the cables or just put the battery, you can see if it works or not because until now I have changed the battery, but it won't work without reconnecting all cables.

Your local Vespa dealer may also be a good place to check. I imagine it’s a part that gets replaced whenever changing the clock battery. So a dealer should have a few of them on hand.

As I live in the UK, I found a vespa agent in Manchester who sells them for £7.00 each, that's not cheap for a piece of plastic!, they call this part a 'battery float chamber' (battery tray).

Was für eine bescheuerte technische Lösung. Da muss man dann halben Roller zerlegen, um die Uhr wieder zum Laufen zu bringen. Peinlich, Piaggio. Das ginge auch übers Bordnetz. Können andere auch.

Piaggio's design choices with this are just so annoying. Yes, they could just put the battery in the glove compartment which would take 5 seconds to swap out. This is a company which never listens to their customer's complaints. :(

Not sure if it's just me but I'd find it easier if you were to talk through the video. A lot of the later part, we are just seeing your hand and it's unclear what you are doing until you see a screw in your hand or a clip as your hand pulls away. I'm down to the last clip (in front of the battery) to disconnect the panel but can't figure out how it comes apart. I'll keep trying (gently) till I get it. Thanks
Edit: I got it! Once you push the release latch, the clip comes towards you (not slid up or down)

What an absolute palaver! Such an absolutely terrible piece of design. The battery holder should be easily accessible in the glove compartment. I'd rather just get a stick on clock if I need it! What's my mechanic's labour bill going to be just to change a clock battery? £50?!
