Crazy, in Germany you're looking at 8-10.000€ just for the parts alone. Very nice to see the BAC and consortium to see some love. I have a Touareg R5 with a simple chip which woke up the car in many ways. Fuel consumption went down from 9,8L/100km on mainly city and country to 7,7L/100km and the torque limit beneath 2100 where the engine just died, making accelerating even in first gear a problem, went away and now you get power from 1800 onwards with more power beneath 2000 in every gear. It's quicker and cleaner too, no smoke anymore and at the TÜV the clouding/smoke value was at 0.08 whereas the acceptable limit to pass exhaust inspection sits at 0.25, crazy!
I never seen someone gaining this T5 R5 engine like this. Really cool. We are sleeving these blocks in our workshop and doing full rebuild for customers, but this is something else. Great job!
If ever you have the sump off again, I'd suggest welding reinforcing on the baffle plate unsupported section towards the oil pump, these crack at the curved corners and break off....awesome build though on these god damn problematic engines. Surprised no injector bridge, best thing I bought from you guys!

Never knew these engines were plasma coated. We use the plasma ion coating at Cosworth on the Valkyrie and Honda engines. It's an extremely hard surface that it honed really smooth to reduce friction, improve longevity and efficiency. It's a very intersecting process to see.

@14:46, for the timing adjustment just a question (if I may), I remember VAG request to set the pivot counter clock wise to 50Ncm (witch is misleading, why no putting 0.5Nm?!) with the special tool T10234. Is that absolutely compulsory? Do you have a rule of thumb to set this, looks like you set it by hand before torquing the main bolt. Thanks very much! Wonderful handcraft
How come you can run a filter straight onto the turbo with no maf sensor or do you re position it. I have the AXD model. Just purchased your large AEM FILTER. Do you guys do a new intake pipe for these engines/filter??? Love the engine builds 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
I like the 2.5 displacement and I really like the fact that it’s gear driven and can comfortably do around 300 hp. Would this be the motor you guys would recommend if I were swapping it into something or would there be something to better fit the bill?

And it was put on a rolling road, the first time I drove it after it was like a group B rally car. Took it back and asked for low down torque. It did 300,000 miles tuned like that, and was excellent on fuel. Honestly the best money spent.

Great videos guys. Looking to put your turbo kit on mine. How does the Race cam feel under normal driving? Mines. 2.0 140 DSG Wondering if it’ll make it idle or drive rough under normal driving? Want power but also don’t want to affect normal low speed driving.

From a Trainer perspective is is always a good idea to start with a small agenda, if in a series, with what is the background, what has been done. What is the goal and how do you need to change parts to get there/why.
@@DarksideDevelopments actually those werent that bad if you change the oil 8-9000km Had a 2000 passat v6 tdi 4motion drove it 5years not a single scoring on the cams. But if you stick to factory intervals you are in trouble.
This is the only channel I know of that goes into the detail required to really understand how engines work. I've learned a lot!

We don't use the tool but we did have to adjust this as the head and block have been skimmed so the timing was 'out' as far as the ECU was concerned.

Why did you choose a single turbo over compounding? Sounds counterintuitive for a vehicle that needs low end torque
We might do something later but this is a tried and tested route turbo wise, spool will be reasonable enough I think.

Cheers, the injectors are the same shape but the offset angle of the nozzles different so they smoke like mad if you interchange either way ;)
