Hmm, a truck with no weight over the back axle with syncro/4motion. that'll mean putting in a bunch of weight diff and total rebuild of suspention.. but than it'll have weight over the rear so the 4wd will be usefull :p
@@clarksonisgod you're right nothings impossible but fitting a haldex drive line designed for a monocoque vehicle into a ladder chassis vehicle is a massive undertaking and they still want to use it to transport cars if I remember correctly.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing this episode. A fast paced recovery truck is a unique aspect to your business 👍 Plus I can’t wait to see the ringtracktor update with the new engine in 💯
BTW these frames are made that way straight from the factory, so they are not chopped. Imagine how they look on the transport truck when two of these cabs are bolted together back to back (as this is the normal way of shipping them to campervan, rescue vehicle etc builders) so it looks like a truck with no back but two front, looking like a railway vehicle.
Hey I've just replace snapped manifold studs on my bnz where it had warped , I see you used cap heads as replacement, why , do they not suffer the same fate when manifold warps again ?
The bolts are a slightly higher tensile that the studs, if the manifold wraps enough they will have the same faint, these can just be easier to install
Amazing build! Just bought a vw t5 camper with the bnz engine from 2007... It has 270k km on it. How much power does this engine produces stock? Thanks
@DarksideDevelopments thanks for the answer!!!the think is that the guy that sold it to me told me that the car has 174hp.. I bought it blind and when I drove it I felt that it was slow for 174hp.. but I couldnt do anything I had already pay him...
Not easily, its a physically longer engine than anything fitted from factory into that chassis, while the 2.5 PD TDI's themselves where only found in Toureg and Transporter, so you'd likely be modifying or changing most parts forward of the flywheel. If your willing to step up one size to the A4, the longitudinal 3.0L V6 TDI was a factory option that can make great power (although getting the 3L TDI, quattro and DSG in one car is still a rare beast)... otherwise if you really need to keep it golf/A3, your looking at boosting a 1.8-2.0L and the DSG (sold as Stronic) is fairly plentiful, but be careful as its also fussy about its care and expensive to fix/replace. I'm pretty sure there are DarkSide vids featuring all those engines already if your interested.
@@SheepInACart keep in mind the RS3 has an inline 5 with DSG. So a golf and A3 aren’t too different to an RS3, so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t fit with some work.
@@sje106 RS3 was also a wider track width, which depending on how it was implemented may have been a factor. Not to mention your now talking about the petrol's rather than diesels, so there are some differences there too. I'm not saying its impossible, just you'll end up putting a vast amount of time and money in (and likely regulatory hassle most places to get it on the road) vs finding an A4 configured with the larger motor standard.
@@SheepInACart what’s wider track got to do with it? They’re practically the same chassis. Track won’t matter. I’m not asking about A4’s, really don’t care about an A4.
Hi Darkside! 👋 I have a question about flywheels, since VW uses dual mass flywheel a lot. My 2k caddy started making some rattling noises. I kinda thought to my self, can we get from dmf to a single mass flywheel? Is the vw dmf lighter or heavier than other standard smf? And how can the weight of the flywheel affect the driving and the behavior of the engine!? Thank you.
