Once again, another absolute banger from these boys - they just don't let up - The Zepathon is well and truly underway and I'm totally here for it! What a journey this is going to be!

Plant was not only hugely charismatic onstage, but his voice, just by itself, as you can hear, was just gobsmackingly charismatic.
One of the cornerstones of Zeppelin’s sound is the concept of Light and Shade. This is a Jimmy Page term. Don’t forget that he formed the band and produced all the albums. So he had an agenda from the get-go. He wanted a band that could go from gentle to thunderous in a heartbeat …..and he sure got one.
Page was the definitive “leader”
Of the band, although it was a band of equally talented people who all contributed equally. This dynamic held until 1976 or so. But will go into more history and personalities as we go along. No need to overwhelm you out of the gate
Just know that Jimmy had a vision and a plan. And that it came to fruition at breathtaking speed. Within a year, they were top of the mountain

Of us who met on a channel four or so years ago which did ALLOT of Zeppelin and the algo bring us to those who are doing our favorite band. 😁✌️
The bassist's name is John Paul Jones, but you'll get it and I, for one, greatly appreciate your effort - believe me, *so* many barely try. This song was originally written and recorded by American folk singer, Anne Bredon in 1959. It would then be re-recorded by a different American folk singer named Joan Baez in 1962 and it would be Joan's version Jimmy Page heard. When Jimmy was assembling the band, he had Robert come over to his home to discuss musical tastes, etc., so he could see if they'd be able to mesh well. This song was one of the few they bonded over and Jimmy told Robert he had an idea of re-doing this song to make it heavier and harder, which resulted in the version of the song you heard. Something Zep was never afraid of was to use a mixture of acoustic and electric guitar in their songs to great effect. One of Robert Plant's nicknames was "Golden God", so you're not far off the mark lol. I'd say don't worry about going at a methodical pace with Zeppelin; you don't want to rush the songs but let them sink in to savor. In addition to your wife, I do hope that you eventually share Zep others who aren't aware of them also - the Zep family is a welcoming bunch and can always use more acolytes. 🙂

Yes another great song, I’m so glad you are enjoying them, because they are hands down the greatest. Another reactor I followed from the beginning, bought each album after he finished hearing it. He also would pick a few live performances from each album to watch, their lives are so amazing too. No two live performances are the same, they improvise solos & also with some lyrics, yet stay so cohesive. Plant in my opinion has the greatest vocals, amazing range tone & textures, he plays his vocals perfect for each song. He can go from 0 to 100 in half a blink of an eye, & he makes it so exciting. All 4 are MUSIC GODS, but I think having a vocal instrument like his, is even harder to play. This song isn’t about this, but it always makes me think how they loved touring, but hated being away from their wives & kids. Drummer John Bonham married his high school sweetheart in (1966). John Paul Jones or (JPJ) married his wife in (1967), & are still together. Robert Plant married his wife in November (1968), they sadly divorced in (1983), he’s never remarried. I know Jimmy Page was married a few times, but I haven’t found when his first marriage was. Bonham passed away in (1980), his wife never remarried, his wife still lives in the home they shared. The next song is one of my favorite studio songs. Thank you for your reaction.

After you finish each album, I hope you plan to watch live versions of several of the songs. Zeppelin live is a whole other animal. Live is not necessarily “better” the way so many say , imo. It’s just that they were so visual ….so charismatic with SO much swag. Plant set the mold for a decade for rock frontmen.
Jimmy might not have been the most technical player ( nor was that his goal) but he played with such swagger that effectively he and Plant were both “Frontmen”.
And then there was all the “switching it up” onstage …so much improv going on. This band had the guts to push the limits live and sometimes just fly by the seat of their pants into the void. Sometimes it didn’t work. When it did it was …….spectacular

The first year, you can see the chrysalis of what they would become. When you hit 1973 videos, you will see the band at their visual best ( that performance and the Earls Court videos)
Their first album is considered the best debut album by any rock band

It's okay to fall in love with Led they won't break your heart even once
John Paul Jones, Bass guitar and keyboards, often both together (plays bass guitar with his feet while playing keyboards). Led Zeppelin are not really about head nodding but more about light and shade, inventiveness and a whole range of influences and styles among the blues and rock.

Playing a bass with his toes while he plays keys.
He plays the bass part on the foot pedals of the organ/mellotron etc. obviously, it will mainly be bass chords as accents, not a complex bass line….in those circumstances. When he played bass, he was one of the very best EVER.

" Choose a lane..." lol Loving your expressions, Steve. Led Zep are one of the best if not THE best, rock bands in the world. They could do anything, hard, heavy, blues, folk, even a snippet of reggae which you'll discover as you go along. Their songs are like a fine meal, not to be wolfed down, but savoured to enjoy the taste. There's another who comes close to Robert Plant in vocals and that is Ian Gillian of Deep Purple. I mentioned before about their song 'Child In Time', which starts slow and builds to a crescendo. Anyway, take your time and enjoy this journey.
You can make the wife a "LED HEAD" , she might be hesitant at first to take the journey but I'm sure once she starts she will love it.

There is only one Led Zeppelin, because there is only one Robert Plant, one Jimmy Page, one John Paul Jones and one John Bonham.
As a teen in the late 70s their music will always be a part of me till im gone Just like Rush Floyd Sabbath and many more One band i never got in to was old Genesis until about 10 years ago Blew me away that guys in their early 20s were that good Try Firth of Fifth then when your ready try Suppers Ready its a little over 20 mins of prog music bliss The moment i heard it it moved to my top 5 all time songs Keep Rockin man Peace from New Orleans

Really enjoying these reactions! I'm lucky enough to have been there when these first came out and this was the first Zep song I latched onto. From there on it was a fabulous ride. I recommend that at some stage you try "Since I've Been Loving You" - for my money right up there with the best they've ever done. As, indeed, was this one.
