"Bring It On Home" is a blues song written by American music arranger and songwriter Willie Dixon. Sonny Boy Williamson II recorded it in 1963, but the song was not released until 1966. Led Zeppelin adapted it in part as a homage to Williamson in 1969 and subsequently, the song has been recorded by several artists.

Led Zeppelin II was one of the very first rock albums I ever had. My grandmother gave it to me for Christmas and wondered if we should listen to it together (this is in the 70's) and there was no WAY I was going to do that! :) Times sure have changed! In 1969 we had a family gathering at my Aunt and Uncle's place. The youngsters (all teenagers - I was 13) were stuffed in the basement, with Led Zep 2 blasting on the stereo. I was mesmerized - I had never heard anything remotely like this before. I loved it! Every so often an adult would come down, hear the loud music, shake their head in disgust and go back upstairs. My dad, lover of jazz and classical music, popped down, stood there for a few seconds and deadpanned, "At least they know how to play their instruments," and walked back upstairs. Instantly, and for the rest of his life, he was the coolest uncle in the family.

The way I interpret it Jamal, the first minute of the song was a tribute to their roots, listening to old time blues and R&B, black music they heard as kids, then the transition goes into blues/rock on steroids, the hard rock style that the British guys developed to build and add their own style to what they heard as kids, and then the nice transition right back to the old time blues at the end of the song. Just excellent as you said. And yes, it was Robert Plant on the harmonica. You don't hear anything about him as anything but a singer, but boy, some wonderful harmonica playing on this song and others as well.

Roberts influences were primarily Mississippi Delta blues. He grew up going to blues festivals, introducing himself at 14 to legendary harmonica player Sonny Boy Williamson at a urinal. Williamson responded with a curt "f*** off." Plant's answer? He snuck backstage and stole Williamson's harmonica. lol. I love that story and another is when Jimmy played with Sonny on Yardbirds session. 'We started at 10.00 am and it was all done by 1.00 pm. Also it was done completely live: there were no overdubs. We all sat in a circle and played.' Sonny Boy got drunk, and his erratic sense of timing gave them some trouble. " Great stories, passing the blues torch to the next gen. Unfortunately, Sonny boy passed away not long after the recordings in 1965
