That is Robert Plant on harmonica!!! When he was 16-17 years old he went and saw Sonny Boy Williamson in concert. He was in the restroom and Sonny was in there as well. Robert said something to him and as he was leaving Robert swiped Sonny Boy's harmonica. He recently in the last 10 years took the harmonica and placed it on Sonny Boys grave.

Like with this song, Robert's harmonica fades away, but it leaves enough of a subtle drag that it makes you feel like something big is coming...then BOOM! But not just a bunch of loud noise, as Zeppelin leaves MANY memorable rifts in its songs.
