In Sweden in the 70s 80s and 90s, they showed a LOT of British humour on Swedish television. Fawlty Towers, Mr Bean, Benny Hill, Blackadder aso so I guess we sort of learned a lot of humpur from you guys. Or maybe British humour just suited us to begin with.
maybe the other sign of the coin of both countries being quite serious and dry a lot of the times means we end up with a similar level of whackiness to our humour
As a christian in sweden I would say most of us laughed with the rest of the people, at least in my circle. Then we got the conservative Christians that 17 years later think this is such a big deal that everyone should know what happened the 21:th of november 2007, when SVT "humiliated" Jesus 😆
@@Ortos5 Oh yes... The leader of the Christian Democratic Party, Ebba Busch, actually more or less mentioned this video last year on Facebook (and boy was she hurt by this video): "Where were all of you who now claim to defend the feelings of believers the 21st of November 2007, when SVT on prime time humiliated Christ?" British humor has always been appreciated here in Sweden, I grew up with both Swedish and British humor. Some good ones I've seen over the years are Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers, Bottom, The Young Ones and Little Britain.
You must finish it. The story is a broader picture not just this sketch it´s ends with him beeing saved and happy walking out of the church and then being shoot whith a harpoon in his chest fore absolutely no reason at all. Thats the ending. And that is chocking humor of Grotesco.

As a christian myself you just laugh to things like this, I mean it doesnt stop me from believing or having a faith at all and doesnt stop others from doing it aswell so why take humour so serious. I know for a fact that the only thing stopping peoples from changing beliefs no matter if it is religions or not is then people try to force it on someone. So laugh while you live :D
I don't think the Swedish (protestantic) church is the target for this joke, rather it's most probably free churches as 'Pingskyrkan' (called Filadelfia church in the US) or 'Livets ord' ("Word of life').
Swedes definitely are very open-minded and positive about that particular activity. In Finnish sketch series that activity is portrayed in a much more negative fashion-if at all-and on top of it's portrayed as something that originates from Sweden: "Vemparen - Finland edition (Ihmebantu)". The only person who speaks about it with some level of openness is a Finnish-Swede comedian, and not even he is praising it: "André Wickström. Stand-Up Comedy in English. The Finnish Winter War vs.". The correct response is probably somewhere between.
I am swedish and a christian and I don`t mind. This is comedy at it`s best. To me it reveals the negative sides of religious belief with satiristic humour. Makes me laugh.
Baptists churches are rare, so most Christian Swedews where like "lol, Baptists are nuts". I saw one comment from someone who said that he grew up being part of a Baptist church, and he said that this was like a perfect representation. I once accidentally ended up in a sermon the day after partying on a Saturday (with a sleep over), dressed in silly student union clothes and hung over (as one easily gets). I went in to the wrong part of the Church. Was going to go and see a friends choir performance in the youth quarters of the same building. It was one of the dumbest shit i have ever done. I couldn't leave early because it was so embarrassing, but they appeared to be pretty neat compared to what I have heard about Baptists in America. A lot of amen and hallelujah. The theme was honey, which was yellow. So they where all told to put their hands on someone who was dressed in yellow. I was dressed completely in yellow and black XD. It was a nice experience. Something I would never have experienced if not for it being an accident. The people sitting next to me probably realized that I was in the wrong place and smiled gently. :)
Runka bulle is just some kind of slang for masturbation but soggy biscuit is that the same thing? It don't translate to the same thing if it's just a direct translation either. Direct translation is "(male) masturbation bun"
@@P4hkoIt’s a proud ancient viking tradition where we stand in a circle around a cinamon bun and wank on it untill the last one to finnish is forced to eat it. I think it is a myth from the locker rooms of Sweden, or something like that :)
This comedy group is a lot of fun but they lack the one thing that is the mark of greatness in their field: provoking current hegemony and main lines of thought. Instead they are kicking the people who are already on the outskirts of society (yes strong christian identity has been long ridiculed in sweden). Monthy python did the opposite - they made fun of christianity when it still was very powerful in the uk. They made a difference. If Grotesco (the people are still very, very active) wanted to be great they would do this type of comedy about islam. (Islam is still not modernized and humanized which is desperately needed.)
