Unless you compare the long term durability of each companies alum alloy micro-mesh gears. Daiwa seems to be stronger. Look at all the posts in forums of metanium owners having to upgrade to brass gears to get them not to turn noisy within a yr. Mine was the same . Same thing noticed with the Calcutta Conquests vs even the cheaper Lunas. The shimanons start out smoother but within 6-12 the daiwa is noticeable better with no change while Shimanos got louder and grittier. My 100 and 300 were both gears replaced under warranty b and were not throwing large swimbaits nor huge fish. Casting a few yards farther has little to no effect on 99% of fishing given the distances all the top reels reach.

@@tonykomer2997 Ive been worried about the gear in my metanium but its been 2 years so far and its going strong. Maybe its cause I dont really go hard on the reel when it comes to hook sets and cranking the drag down. But id believe that reelz with bigger gear teeth especially made of brass would outlast the micro mesh aluminum gears.

Back In the 80s the world record distance cast used to be held by the venerable ABU 7000. Not the 7000C, which had ball bearings. The plain 7000 model that used bushes instead. High quality bushes have very low start up inertia and maintain very high momentum. And I've often wondered why they're not used much In modern reels.

All top 5 were within the distance of 150' - 156' which means that the top 5 reels average deviation from max recorded distance was 3' or 2% difference in performance. This was a fun video, interesting test. Because casting difference in the top 5 was not enough to worry about, the more important test would be durability under stress.

My opinion is that the nylon bushings cause for far far less friction. Every bearing is added friction. I have a kastking should be called kingofbearings 11+1. It cast fine super smooth for what it is. But the more bearings the more friction and more things to go wrong, get dirty, make noise. Etc.. but it’s the MegaJaws series and has an open port for maintenance 👨‍🔧 which is super cool awesome vide bro

The newer revo 5 reels are sickly casting, cast way better than the revo 4s, cast further than my spinning setup, on a foot shorter rod!! They have been great reels. Only downside is the daiwa and especially Shimano Curados do feel higher quality and are smoother. But casting, i dont think there are a large amount lf reeels that throw longer.. very very free spool. With the mag Trax, havent had one single backlash either, as i fight hard with now on my curado 200M..

@@danielmcnish6555 Thanks for your comment. Two years ago I was looking for a baitcast reel for zander fishing (similar fish to walleye). Usually, I use small swimbaits (3"-5") with jigheads 3/8-3/4oz. My proirity was to have a durable baitcater, that cast as far as possible. So, I considered to buy a Bantam mgl, but my colleague said, that the bantam isn't a good choice, because it doesn't cast very well. He said that a Metanium would be the best choice (He is a fan of Metanium 13, but he has a Bantam mgl as well).
Now, I have two reels of Metanium 2020. Recently, I've compared Shimano parts diagrams (Metanium 20 and Bantam). I'm supprised, beacuse the both reels have the same bearings supported the spools and the same pair of gears. The spools have simmilar weight and line capacity, so we can expect, that the filled spool inertia should be similar. Therefore, I asked if there is a significant difference in the casing distnce. I haven't seen a direct competition betwen these reels on youtube.

You really think 3 yards is gonna catch you more fish dont you? 😂, damn I like your vids but sometimes you're a bit over the top ngl. You should one day start reviewing reels as a whole and devising a system to score them under so people can actually know what the reels are like and which one to buy not just how far the max cast distance will be at your local lake! And please, try not to reply with "yes it will certain times of year this and that" because no it wont, youre not spinning off the rocks for tuna, you're baitcasting for bass in local lakes and man made ponds. Hopefully you take something positive from this so your channel can develop and cover the whole spectrum of these reels which will help viewers greatly, so I do truely hope you take something positive here "instead of just getting triggered"🤦‍♂️😂.

Load them up with 20 lb P-Line CXX and a 3/4 oz bait and see which one wins. I’d say a Curado K or Tatula 200 would beat them all. That’s more my style of fishing in Texas. That light line will get your heart broken here.

@@andersriksson100 I know what it was I watched the vid. That’s why I said do it with a 3/4 oz bait and heavy line. These low capacity reels will run out of line ( 20 lb copoly diameter ) or slow down because the spools are so small while the Curado and Tat 200 have plenty of spool capacity left. I’m pretty sure they’d beat those small reels.

    • @jamesbarron1202
      @jamesbarron1202 3 года назад

@@andersriksson100 yes but he always puts small diameter lines on all his reels. Makes a big difference large vs small diameter line. When a spool starts getting low on line at the last half of the casting distance that really cuts distance because not as much line is coming off the spool per each revolution. At the beginning of a cast on a full spool about 3” of line is coming off per revolution. When the spool gets low toward the end about 1” is coming off. Large line runs out fast on small spools. Sure those super expensive reels will outcast a Curado but I seriously don’t think so when both are spooled with 20 lb copoly. Spool capacity makes a big difference with big diameter line.

So...you say to be fair, you want to include a 200 reel? How about a "heavyweight" Olympics, in addition, not instead.

It’s odd that you spent “a good 30 minutes tweaking the brakes and messing around with the spool tension” on the 13 fishing boss but didn’t touch the Zillion spool tension/zero adjust. I’ve bought multiple zero adjust reels and the tension is set a little different from reel to reel, they all needed to be fine tuned for max performance(like any other reel). But given your weird bias and childish obsession over “fan boy” nonsense, I guess its not surprising you’d handicap the Daiwa.
My 21 zillion consistently outcasts my met mgl by about 5-10 feet with 1/4-1/2oz baits, but that’s nothing to get excited about.
Where it really shines is control, casting predictability, skipping, pitching, casting in wind & reduced backlashes.
I do prefer the ergonomics on the Met though, as well as the non-T wing line guide.
Both are great reels that will always have a place in my boat.

Only a fanboy would get upset when I say fanboy... fanboy... and as the typical fanboy you are.. you dont like my videos because I actually show proof. Unlike you fanboys who make up stories and expect people to take your word for it about how your Daiwas outcast this reel and that reel blah, blah, blah... If your story is true(which I doubt) that just means you dont know how to set up a Shimano... period.
