Nice video! I bought it a little while ago, I used it only twice but what I can say from first impressions is that it is a great reel, it throws light baits from 1.7 onwards. The smallest brake adjustment I got was exactly 4, below that it starts to give backlash more easily. I realized that the perfect weight range for casting is 2 to 5 grams, Incredible as it may seem, I was not able to throw more than 30 meters with 5g which in spirit fox I can cast easily with 3.5 grams, it was strange, but I will test more often to see if I get the hang of it. But anyway, the reel is very good, very well built, it is beautiful, it fulfills its purpose.

You should try the zephyr reel on the kastking blackhawk m 6-6 collapsible rod. The tip is perfect for BFS. I LOVE THE SCRIPTURES YOU PUT UP IN YOUR VIDEOS BROTHER!

i got one and freaking love it. i hated my other regular bait caster because i didn't want to throw big lures all the time and this really has changed my game. i highly recommend this reel. im a spinning reel guy but this changed me for sure.

I have 7 different KastKing Baitcasting reels and I am about to order two more they are worth the money to me.A lot of people say they want last long I say B.S. I use mine a lot never had a problem with them oh I have had a few backlash sure but who has not lol.
Brand new product on amazon ordered when first available. Showed up used without any product info and no wrapping. Kastking may have filled amazon's inventory from other countries previous sales returns. Hope yours shows up in better condition if you get one

Hi there. Definitely want go check that reel out. Can you by any chance do a review on lines to use for bfs this time? Like mono vs fluoro vs braid? Perhaps some casting tests as well? I personally dont see why someone would use braid for bfs. If Im really fishing and not trying to record a youtube video I use straight flourocarbon.

I've had this reel for about 4 -5 months now and I'm extremely happy with it. I fish it in salt water and it has handled conditions and fish out here in Sydney, Australia really well. I have the zephyr with the drag clicker which makes it extra fun. It does the job for the price. Highly recommended

@@davidraguse2106 it's handling Salt water fishing very well but I do give a clean after every use and an internal clean once or twice a year. It only comes with one spool. I purchased it of Ali express.

@@davidraguse2106 I have 14lb braid on it that's ultra thin, can't remember which line it was, haha but it's a Japanese Shimano made braid.
I'm throwing plastics, small grub tail plastics and minnows, up to 3grams. Lightest I've thrown was about a gram. Crazy light.
I got mine in the mail a few days ago and put it on my shakespeare agility 7' ul rod, I haven't been fishing with it yet but the reel does feel good and I am very excited to try it out

dude you want to use an actual baitcaster for saltwater.....
this reel holds 150 feet of line and is only for shallow river/stream/pond type deals
@@escapetherace1943 I know this sounds abit crazy but in my country we have recreation fishing pond that is contained saltwater fish. Usually the pond is not too big and too deep so is ideal for using baitcasting reel to catch them. I already used this reel several times in those pond already, if you're interested you can find those video in my channel 😁 and my conclusions is this reel can use in saltwater but only for bait finesse and shallow purpose 😆

In terms of physics; the bigger spool ("taller") is better for BFS than the smaller JDM offerings. Kastking based on science has just set a new standard. Great R&D by KastKing.✌🏾

It's the most sought after BFS reel because it's the only one out there that most people have a chance at being able to afford. I have it on my wishlist, just waiting until I can scratch up the money for it.

I have noticed the brown thing. Recycled plastic? Lol! Definitely time to do a quick side to side box comparison. Can't wait for your cast test! I don't think I will flip and pitch like they have advertised... spool is too thin. I think the Valiant Eagle is made for that due to its heavier spool... but I had zero say about that reel haha... I did send an email over about that reel!

Isn't the brown part just the plastic on the outside of braking system? A few KastKing reels have that brown color on the braking side. I hope he is right and it is an upgrade, but I don't think it is. Will be interesting to see if there are any upgrades.

I'm sure it will flip and pitch, but I doubt the spool will hold up. I'll use my megajaws long cast spool for that.
I have no problems giving credit where credit is due brother. So is this it for the BFS reels? The Megajaws, Zephyr, and Valiant Eagle? Or is there one more higher end coming? If theres another higher end one in the works Ill definitely give my input if they want it.

From across the pond great vid, just ordered the Zephyr instead of the GH100 after holding back questions about the breaking system, is the Zephyr's usable/effective or is the Alderbaran copy on the GH100 better in your opinion

I have used Crixus dark star from kastking , spool slipped on second fish hooked ....they replaced it but it was not a comfortable experience.
Spare spools are also not available for these reels.
Shimono , Abu Garcia and diawa are the best

This would still work well on my Diawa arid x m or ml rods...gives a fairly decent combo (just about, +/- a few bux ) $100
You turned me onto the GH100. Will we both find a NEW favorite BFS reel? Please do cast comparison tests with baits under a true measured weight less than 0.20oz. Most of what I use on my GH shows @ 0.10oz on the scales.
I just filmed the video and the lowest weight was around 2 grams
Excellent. I can't wait to see your cast comparison between it and the GH100. I love my GH100 despite it has terrible tolerances between the bearings and housing. I had to wrap the crank bearing in aluminum foil to knock down the wobble and slop, but the darn thing just casts lighter lures so well. I fish it more than my Aldebaran MGL.
The Reel Test,
I was trying to hold out for a Shimano reel, this might sway me. Nice price @ $70. On Amazon it was mounted to a beautiful Zephyr rod. I would love to get both. Can’t wait to see the casting tests. I sense they are going to be very good based on your tone during this video. Not sure you could contain your enthusiasm for the reel.

Shimano doesn’t have a $170 BFS reel on the US domestic market. I was waiting to see what they came out with this year before spending money on a new reel. This does look like a good candidate. I would love to get the matching rod.
Sorry in advance but im new to bfs and trying to make and educated purchase. What are the advantages of bfs with 4-6lb line versus a spinning setup?
For me mainly its just more fun., which is why we fish right? Accuracy might be better for some
For me it's great because I don't like using a spinning reel. This reel allows me to bomb light tackle. I've caught a few bass recently on it fishing a little Snacky Swimmer from Googan

If you are talking about the original silver one Ive heard mixed reviews, but Ive never casted one or even seen one in person. Tackletour did a review on it which you can find in their review archives
You should test Plusinno Elite Hunter Baitcaster. I think it's a fantastic budget ($36) BFS reel. It weighs 5.6 oz and cast real smooth. It feels weightless when I use it.
I bought a "johncoo" bfs reel on Amazon, which is the exact same model as the plussinno but withvavbfs spool. I also got the plussinno Normal baitcaster, both cast a mile, but lack in the smooth category. But I hardly notice while actually casting them. Great reels
@@mattmain237 I actually got the Johncoo's Ares. Solid reel made of aluminum body and cast the farthest, even farther than my Daiwa Fuego. The handle seems not as tight as compare to my Daiwa but still good. Can't wait to see how it performs through the season catching King Salmons.

I looked at it and I personally dont consider it bfs. Finesse similiar to the Curado 70/Tatula SV probably. I may get around to getting one eventually but it will be awhile

Have both curado bfs and zyphers bfs and fish both could times a week.
I will say the curado feels better in terms of build, everything fits together better. The Zephyr feels not as sturdy or smooth.
In terms of actual fishing, the casting, reeling, drag, is just as good, if not better.

I’m not 100% certain but I don’t think it’s based on the C9 air frame. I do know it’s based off of the Crixus frame. Not sure if that’s on the C9 frame but I don’t think they are. Tooling looks different
the Crixus is based off the C9 frame, just a different nose. The C9 came out before the Crixus

from what I saw, they changed the brake hub on the spool from black to red so you can see which brakes are on better and hopefully made the brake shoes a little bigger
I ordered a kastking reel a year ago to see what they were all about and I got the Spartacus and boy was I disappointed. I sent it back and got another one and boy was I disappointed. It was the worst reel I’ve ever owned. Both squeaked and Seized up after a week. I will say on there behalf that I dish saltwater but I take really good care of all my reels and they are a waste of money because for just a little more you can get a low end name brand reel that actually work. I even ordered a spinning reel just to see if those might be better and nope. I will say there peregii rod is actually nice and some of there braid is ok but there fluorocarbon is absolute garbage. I never seen line fray from thin air. With that being said I have a love hate for kastking

@@rragan58 BFS stands for Bait Finesse System. It was the Japanese Way of saying Ultralight Baitcasting Setups. To me, you can use these BFS reels for UL, L and ML rods and throw lighter lures than your typical bass lures on a casting outfit. Most people don't realize it, but there are plenty of smaller spool and super small size low profile reels above BFS rating for finesse fishing. For instance, Daiwa Tatulas got so many smaller spools to help folks who doesn't want to go to the BFS level. But sometimes, those small low profile/small spools doesn't allow folks to get the best out of the finesse world. That's where these super shallow spools rock! ;)

Whats with the hype around bfs? Is it for crappie or trout? I dont see y u would throw lures that weigh grams at bass
Grams is just a measurement.. ounces can be converted to grams. You don't have to throw the ultra tiny stuff on an UL casting rod, you can throw your typical finesse style bass lures on a BFS reel but mounted on a L or even ML rod. Plenty of hard baits at 1/4 oz or even 1/8th oz that would benefit from a BFS reel. There are also mid size spools for distance casting that many people uses already. For instance, Daiwa have a whole line up of tatulas that have smaller spools than your average BC reel that isn't at BFS level. For me, unless I am open water fishing, i Go heavier fishing for bass in my areas as bass are mainly in structure. Only out in the open during spring and fall to feed up or winter in deeper holes. Try Ned Rigging on a BFS reel on ML or even L casting rod. it's perfect!

@@Wampuscat6970 However you want to see it. I don't associate my lures between a spinning vs BC reel. The only thing type of fishing tackle that I would personally associate with a specific reel are flies for fly fishing which require fly rod/reel/line. Perhaps we should look at it from another angle. Why would one use a BC reel over a spinning reel? For me, it's more accurate, efficient, ergonomically balanced, lighter than most spinning reel, especially in the budget realm (more cheap spinning reels are more heavy where as it is opposite on the BC world) and less line twists with light lures. The 3rd and 4th allows me to fish so much more longer as it causes less fatigue.
