    I've always wondered what would be the difference between rinsing your hands vs washing your hands. also most people wash their hands for less than 5 seconds not whatever the recommended time is. thank you for making this channel. I've always wondered how clean things really are. this is probably one of the most useful information channels on you tube.

    I use vinegar and Pine Sol in my laundry in the wash cycle with detergent for many years and my clothes are always fresh vs. before. It works for me. I don't use it in the final rinse cycle, at all. Appreciate the science you offer behind these techniques. Very informative and awesome!

    What vinegar does a GREAT job at: I'm an artist that works extensively with construction materials (think set builder and that almost describes it.) I end up at That Thing In The Desert because some of the art I contribute to is intended to be experienced and burned out there. The dust on that dry lake bed closely resembles drywall dust, which I'm also very familiar with. If you have ever gotten either of these on your hands, or worse on your face, or deep in the threads of textiles you can appreciate how horrible it feels and how hard it is to get out. Detergent just won't do it. Many regular attendees quarantine the outfits they wear out there, and the gear they use, not even allowing them inside their homes. Anyone having to clean up after having worked with drywall, or having remodelling done in their home knows this problem. Drywall dust is just awful. A simple solution is to add baking soda to the tub of the laundry machine and vinegar to the soap dispenser, but honestly, if it's only the dust you are trying to deal with you can skip the soda and just include vinegar. The acid breaks down the base. That terrible feeling from the dust - like all life is being sucked out of everything- goes away!

    • @FieldOfFocus
      @FieldOfFocus  3 месяца назад +4

      Interesting! We built our home ourselves, so I am no stranger to drywall dust!! I have some mop heads that still have drywall dust on them, so I am going to soak them in a bucket with some water and vinegar! Thank you!

    My research tells me that vinegar is a fairly weak antibacterial agent and can work optimally on hard surfaces to kill some bacteria but only if it's left in place for at least 30 minutes. If you put it in the rinse cycle of the washer it will be so attenuated with water that it will be useless. You should try it with 20% or 30% vinegar.

    Another good reason to avoid vinegar is that it's acidic and could damage internal washing machine seals. The seals are designed to handle highly basic solutions like bleach. I do wish that in the conclusion you named your top 3 products that do work instead to direct us to those videos.

    Love your videos and time you put into making them.
    This is just a suggestion.
    In this video i do believe that the vinegar was way too diluted with as little amount of vinegar you used. I pour 3 -4 full cups of vinegar directly into my washer in the first of the wash cycle that is filled with dirty clothes and filled with water. I use about 3-4 full cups in my laundry depending on how big my load is and if its really stinky.. I would recommend retesting the vinegar and adding 3-4 full cups directly to the washer in the begining of the washing cycle. A side note, different brands of White vinegar have different acidic levels too. The strongest i have found is the
    " Heinze" white distilled brand. I would think that the stronger the acid level is, the better But, some bad stuff love an acidic environment. I do know that when i use vinegar in my dogs laundry that it completly removes all doggie odors. I use an all natural unscented enzme laudry soap so the vinegar does a great job of removing stinky odors. Which would lead me to believe it may be killing the bacteria that causes odors??

      I was going to suggest adding vinegar to the wash tub directly as I believe the fabric softener setting might not run as long as the first wash setting. I use white vinegar in both and it helps with odors and myself personally have noticed a bit more softness after the wash. I unable to use store bought fabric softeners because of skin irritations for my children

    A vinegar rinse cuts the soap from laundry (and hair - making it shinier) and apparently eliminating static electricity after the dryer. I use cheap apple cider vinegar cor my hair and white vinegar in place of (stinky) fabric softener.
