Yes - to make it on the show you have to be liked by Taylor and Stephen or someone they trust. Comedy isn’t that big a pool.

I was crumpled up like a blanched and battered open mic night handbill that happened three months ago, but I tried to compose myself nonetheless, nevertheless.
She kept on: "That squeal? That's a red tailed hawk. Most people get 'em confused..." she trailed off. I loved her, but could never tell her why. Never had the right moment on a show like this, with an audience like this, in possibly the most carbohydrate confused place in the whole wide world, hands down. Just then, a faint crack clapped around our ears, and the outline of a pantsuit was visible in the undulating stray beams of the dim, glittering light. A plume of flour dust kissed the air above us, and I could sense a new hunger hitting my bones. "Sourdough....a fresh loaf," said the shadow. It was her.

Hate to be the “well, ACTUALLY” person, but fun fact - the classic “Eagle sound” used in basically everything is the scream of a red tailed hawk, not an Eagle. Bald eagles mostly do this sweet kind of chirping sound. Ok, I’ll show myself out…..

Taylor is not only one of my favourite stand up comedians, she's also one of my favourite panel show hosts. And it's not because of her looks. It is because she is funny, clearly naturally. To be fair that makes her more attractive. I think she has the cheat code. Be hot AND funny. I sound like the bottest bot in the world right now. But I'm not. I am just a sad man who has smoked a lot of weed. It's fine. It's not a problem. But like...come to new zealand and i can be awkward at you in a really memorable way. I just like talking shit.

...How bad is it that I now feel like I've been challenged to write an AM fanfic?
If I'm understanding correctly, Taylor would like an excerpt from the story in which the show decides to humiliate fans who think they could do well on the show by having them play instead of celebrities, but we hit it off so well that we become best friends and write a hilarious body-swap comedy about the real horrors a man would face if he was body swapped into a female body, which would of course star Jennifer Lawrence as the suddenly-a-woman and Emma Stone as his platonic best friend who helps him through it (there are no love interests, screw that) and then once that success gives us a platform we can use our connections to grow a full scale political revolution led by Adam Conover. That's kind of a lot of tonal shift though, so maybe it's a series of fan-fics.
