Thank you so much for posting this. I wanted to tell you how to scale the gauges since you commented that the Grade gauge is too large for your liking. I literally just figured it out. Great tutorial! Thanks! To all of you using VIRB Edit on Windows 10 machines. On some PCs, you can encounter a problem with importing video files. I had the following problem on one of my PCs, but it was not the case on my other PC, so I guess it depends on a specific PC setup or hardware. I haven't figured out what exactly causes the problem, so maybe you can switch to a different PC as I did and hopefully, you'll save some time. Here it is: The latest version 5.4.3 of VIRB Edit has some trouble with importing all video files. The import goes through, but in a window where the preview should show up, there is a message saying something like: "Some portions of the video are corrupt... trim away the corrupt portion of the clip or remove it completely". It is a constant message on all videos I tried to import to VIRB Edit. I used different capturing devices and the result is the same. All videos I tried played correctly in Windows Player, just in VIRB Edit 5.4.3 software all those didn't want to play or even preview. The solution is to install version 5.1.2 instead of 5.4.3 VIRB Edit 5.1.2 imports and plays all videos correctly, you can get it from here garmin-virb-edit.software.informer.com/5.1/
Solid work dude, thanks for sharing. Syncing in VIRB is such a pain in the ass. Especially considering you can't combine clips and need to sync for every 17 min clip. Super dumb...FYI for anyone interested: Sometimes the sound gets unmatched when you drop the exported mp4 file w/ overlays back into Premiere Pro CS6 but if you just change the extension from ".mp4" to ".mov" it solves the problem.
This is a great video. Thanks for putting this together. I just found a cheap action cam and I'm going to try this out. Love your videos, your channel and your enthusiasm for the sport.
Many thanks for this video, Sir Dude! I'm following all the steps, syncing the video to a ppppprecise point on the map, adding the desired gauges, but they're static! I go through the whole synced video, cadence, speed, hr stay the same. Hhalp!
Hidemybell mount!. GPS, Camera, and bell all in one. Camera mounts midway on mount, not directly under GPS on the end. Slick stuff, check it out. I use a shimano camera just b/c its small and light. Even though its 2 buttons are annoying. Also means i have to stitch/convert my videos with MM before i can go into virb and overlay. Good video sir. -U10
Dude, awesome tutorial! I'm just starting to edit my own cycling videos so you're way more experienced at this than I am. But one little tip that I've found useful is to first combine all of your footage in Premier (or any other video editor) and export as a single clip before you import into VIRB. This way you only have to sync up the data once. Then, I'll apply the gauges I want and export that out of VIRB. Finally, I'll import that clip back into Premier for extra editing. I'm trying to figure out how I can sync up the data but then export the gauges out of VIRB with a green BG so I can use them as a layer on my video in Premier. Haven't figured that one out yet.
Damn VC, I just did an overlay to one of my rides and it was a breeze with your help and video. I'll be riding more with my video recorder. I just wish you would use VIRB for your editing as well. I added music but couldn't figure it our how to truncate it or just add a few sec of the song. Anyway bruh, kudos to you on this video, you nailed it.
Super video mate. This answers my question on the jitter or motion from the K-Edge mount I'm using. I'm going to see if my hero black came with the mount. I'm pretty sure it didn't! I'll be looking later! :) Cheers from the Giro Gran Fondo in Ireland.
have you tried to export the multiple go pro clips to make one mp4 file then pull up the new single clip mp4 file and then you only have to sync one clip.
18:46 Watched this video a while ago, just started to make my own videos. Came back for reference after exporting. Wish I had remembered this! 1080 @ 60fps a 67 minute video was 241,597 files and almost 11 GIGS!

Tyler, thank you for putting this out there. I was searching all over the WEB for this functionality. I'm working on my first video just to get the hang of it, and it seems to be working fine on my PC. It is not the best software, but it does the job. Also, in case you had not stumbled on this, you can get old Mac and PC versions from www.gawisp.com/perry/virb/. For the size of the little cyclist you have to go to appearance to change the size. For the go pro video size it’s not 16-17minutes limitation it’s a 4Gb file size limitation. You can first join all the video then add the full video to virb then you will have to sync only once :)

Yes, but I found it gets hard to export. Now what I do is just load an hour long blue screen, add the metrics, then key out the blue in adobe
TBH that makes more sense.
