I love this video so much! As a new White Mage, I seriously learned so many great tips and tricks from this. From macros to HUD set up, I feel a lot more efficient and organized now. Thank you for sharing this! This is the best WHM resource I've used so far.
Thank you sooo much! It was beginning to be such a pain cycling through hot bars depending on I was healing and dpsing. I am so glad I found this vid. You're a life savor... literally.
These controller guides are really great, I never would have thought about doing any of this this way. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this!
thank you so much for this guide! i only got into ff14 because it lets me play with a controller - i HATE kb+m controls so i was pretty happy to find high-level content is still doable in this game with a controller. i'm not familiar with mmo controls as a result of not playing a lot of them for that reason so this was super helpful in helping me set up my hotbars and macros.
Makes me nostalgic for my controller WHM. I switched to mouse/keyboard for SCH in HW and more or less haven't looked back. Still a very good guide, happy to see you making WHM content!
Should have some more WTM content coming out these next few weekends. :) I also enjoy SCH, but when you start thinking about comments, makes it super smooth. :)
An updated video for 5.05 would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is the easiest way to switch between the monster and the party members. I usually use Tab to target then "T" to switch between the target of my target and Cure III to heal the melee DPS, but I have a really tough time when there is a ranged DPS. Thoughts? Tips? Switching targeted allies nearest to farthest should really have a keybind.
I appreciate the effort put into this. Its a good guide for those interested in dungeon running. As far as DPSing, when using macros, it stops the ability precast while still on GCD. Do you have any parse runs using these? I have never actually used repose, so it is not even on my hotbar. I've noticed abilities that are not on primary hotbar, they don't get used. Divine Benison is a really important ability that should be used often. Its basically a shield for free to mitigate damage. over all is not beneficial especially on DoT, Because you could drop a DoT on an add that dies before it finishes, its wasting a CD. Something else I would mention, Asylum is a great ability. I have a macro for directly over me, and the original ability just for placing it. Often during raiding you will drop it somewhere for future use before someone is standing there. It does not rely on someone already standing there. Just wanted to add those thoughts for people interested in raiding as well.
Thanks for all the useful tips, but I still have a question: how to setup skills in your hotbar 3. I have tried to look it online, but couldnt find any information on it. It would be very helpful. Thanks.
It would be too much to type in here, but I've gone in and put some deep dives guides but you might find everything you need here - ruclips.net/video/vOFHeZxJOgo/видео.html
So, thanks for making the video and for sharing the info on how you've set up your hotbar(s) and macro layout(s). I'm coming back to XIV after a few years away and am trying to get comfortable with my level 42 WTM. As such, I have a question or so pertaining to the LB+RB and RB+LB bars and the macros within. Around 9:50 you mention the macro to turn your Protect into Cleric Stance and back again. I didn't see the other video you mentioned trying to put into the Description so I was wondering if you'd give me the exact scripting for the Macro's involved in that. Also, you didn't have a chance to go over the RB+LB menu which is where I'd expect you'd have things like sprinting, mounting, ect. but even if not I'd like to know your thoughts on that hotbars layout. As well as the actual Pet/Mount bar which I saw you gloss over in another video but a bit more in depth information on an updated video would be epic. And finally, since I'm leveling I don't have all the spells available to fill all the spaces however I do like the general layout and intend to use it as a template for when I hit 70, until then I'm expecting that (for the most part) my rotation won't change too drastically as I'm still keeping my core healing spells for my current level (42). That being said, though, is there any adjustments you'd suggest while I'm leveling (besides the obvious 'whatevers comfortable' because right now I'm basically retraining my muscle memory from the ground up so it's all equally comfortable). Thanks again for the video though, it's helped out a lot especially when remembering to consider macro use. I hope you can take the time to answer my question as that's the only thing missing to complete the info in my mind. Lastly, since this video is almost a year old are you going to be doing any updated WTM videos anytime soon to reflect the current version of the HUD Layout (changes to Status Effect(s) boxes, ect.) and any changes to skillset(s)?
These are really great questions and welcome back to the game. I'll see if I can't ether dig up that other information for you and post it, update this with a new video, or sync up with you on a live stream sometime... I'd invite you to check out our controller guide videos, if you watch the latest I posted the samurai you'll see more of those shared skills there, and I think the video is in a better format as well. Check the playlist for Controller guides to really get to the meat of the content. :) What server/datacenter are you playing on? We're on Aether and if you're in our data center, we can get you into the LS and even group up if you're having trouble. :)
Sure thing. I cover this in the getting started with the controller series, so you'll want to make use of the virtual mouse (L1 + R3) I'll see if I can find a link to the controller guides playlist for you, as those videos are in that playlist. :)
It is, but you'll have to set them up as different macros and use /pvpac :) - at least I think that's how I did it... It's been a while since I wrote a PvP macro, so give it a shot. :)
I was watching this and thinking to myself that makes no sense the way he has it set up but then I realized, the way my controller is set up probably wouldn't make sense to any one else. Love your videos bro, when are ya doing your thoughts on WHM?
Overall thoughts on the job should be next Sunday, I was trying to finish up the 101 guide for WTM today, but just don't have time so I'll push out the PvP 101 today, then the 101 next week along with the overall thoughts. :)
Thanks for the macro info I didn't know you could do target on circle target skills. How you remove macros error messages btw? I tried /macroerror off, /merror off but I think I'm using it wrong. Is it suppose to be in each macro or u just need to type it once to turn it off/on.
It's a little complicated, I think I show it in my getting started with the controller series, but to try and type it out for you here just for reference... System > Character Config > Chat Lot Settings > then find the general tab > then tab over to the third tab in filters > and turn off error messages. :) I hopefully didn't miss a step, that's off the top of my head, in the video I believe I show it, but I can't say which one specifically. :)
I know this is super old, but I'm just starting to learn this to fine tune my playstyle. How did you have your aeros macro'd together so they would work properly? Sorry for the dumb question.
Hii, I'm new to the game and I was wondering if there's a good "Cure" macro. I tried: /micon Cure /ac cure /ac cure /ac cure but it keeps curing me when I target the tank... So is there a proper cure macro or is it best without a macro?
So that macro reads... 1. Cure the target of my target. 2. or Cure my target 3. Lastly, Cure me. So if you are targeting the take it would try to cure whoever he is targeting. Otherwise, it should try to cure him. Depending on your latency it could be skipping the second line altogether and just curring you. I sometimes do these for my attack abilities so I don't have to target anything but the tank, but in this case I'd advice against using any kind of macro for this type of cure. *** You might not need curing, and thus you are overcurring which just uses MP and will still generate hate. But if you are set on this type of macro, I'd switch the first line and the second line. :)
Thank you for your video. English isn't my mother tongue. I want to paste exactly your confguration. You explain witch bar is number 3 but I didn't understand witch numbers you use for the other bars.
I've been uploading my updated guides over on Ginger Prime and going forward will also have the macros used to set them, so as soon as I finish with White Mage you'll find that over there. :)
@@Work2Game Thank you for your rapid answer. I'm playing for a month now. I'm quite noob. I've a White Mage at level 72. I play with mouse and keyboard. Do you suggest to use your configuration or to look for another configuration that is more suitable for mouse and keyboard use? At 9:42, you tell about another video. Where can I find it? I need to see it for the Raise macro and the other macros that you use in you extended cross hotbar.
One more question haha for macros under aero 5:17 you're saying if i copy and paste that onto mine if im focusing on the tank to constantly heal but i also wanna send out some dps i can also use aero and it will hit his target as well while im also healing him?
It's a bit hidden, but it's under character config > chat log > general tab > then the third tab from the next screen, and you can uncheck errors. I believe that's it. I think my getting started with the controller shows how to do it there. :)
If starts on the top and fails through until it gets to a line it can run. In this case though with Stormblood they upgraded the skills to somewhat do this automatically.
As a beginner, I'm petrified just to see it! (Esuna, pls) Seems like there are so many things to do and buttons to push as a healer =/ It feels like I will have trouble playing with a controller, specially in group. (just a thought)
I don't find that issue, but I do find that healing is the hardest role in the game at the moment... If interested in healing, check out my 101 guides to get you going, but if you still feel overwhelmed, it's cool too. No reason to play stressed out. :)
I only have some questions.. if he uses the controller.. how does he move it so smooth? and is able to move things around as well as have the left hotbar? I cant find that even on my default layout X3 and I cannot move my mouse and click on stuff with the controller as easily as this
If you check my controller guide playlist, I have new updated videos that step you through my setup and more on how to get the controller working with the character config... however if it's still giving you issues, come join me on stream sometime and I'll try to help. twitch.tv/work2game :)
Work To Game thanks! Just started ff14 and the controller layout you’ve shown made the game so much easier and efficient. Looking forward for the healer classes
Maybe it’s cause I still don’t understand many concepts... but for someone that’s trying to learn I feel you moved wayyyy to fast it would help if you actually showed things in action. :)
Not a bad idea... I usually don't do free to play games (not as a rule, just analyzing my library), but I'll see if I can't work it into my schedule. :)

With the release of shadow bringers I would find an update of this video very helpful. Still such a great guide though keep up the good work!

Just started FFXIV as a White Mage and found this guide super helpful! Thank you so much.
Welcome to FFXIV and to the white mage, I’m glad I could help and let me know if you have any other questions :)
These controller guides are really great, I never would have thought about doing any of this this way. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this!
Thanks Scott... :)
Happy to help, and glad these seem to help or inspire others. :)

Awesome ty. Can't wait for the macro for cross abilities. I didn't know you could do that.
The video is already out, I'd check some of our videos from June... If I can find the link, I'll update this comment. :)

just the stone and aero macros make me a much better healer than before xD no more too focused on dps-ing ;p

ruclips.net/video/OzvjhSBCGG8/видео.html here is the playlist... Look for the three that focus on the different areas of the controller itself. :)
So helpful, love it! I couldn't see your raise macro - could you please write it up?
Dude, it's ASYLUM. As in "Insane Asylum". NOT AH-LEE-SEE-UM.
Thanks for the help :)
I can’t seem to get the target macro work or the target of my target macro work
awesome thank you! :O
Thanks, Aero, glad you enjoyed and hope you have fun! :)

Well the good news here is that you shouldn’t need that anymore because Aeros upgrade when they can, which is nice IMO. I have updated guides now :)
Did any of the things talked about in this video change up until now? 5.0?
We are updating all the jobs for 80. Just taking time to get them leveled and feel we know enough to make and edit the videos.

Yes, I believe so. :)
Meaning you can stay targeted on him, you’d still need to cast a healing spell. This allows you to attach his target :)
but at the cost of some dps loss though right? i guess it doesnt matter so much as a healing class since the main point is healing haha
What macro do you have under your raise?
I set my macro up for Aero t tt but I get an error sound when I use it is there a way to turn it off?

It's "Aero" not "Aerio"... You say it right numerous times but say it wrong regardless, hurts my soul.
Sorry about that, I bounce back and forward and reading how you wrote it only makes it worse. Does it sound more like arrow or air?
Hi there, knowing that you. guys. enjoy mmorpgs and shooters, why dont you play Warframe, give it a try i think you are gonna like and enjoy the game.
