    This is exactly what somebody should respect in a review, especially if you're buying, well... Anything over 50? Brutal honesty and transparency without any bias besides experience and knowledge on the subject. Dude didn't bash it just bc he has a nice direct drive setup but wasn't swayed by corporal endorsement/bribery.

I especially appreciated the advice on adjustments you can make on how Truforce responds to game audio. I bought one in advance of my XBox Series X. I’m sure its going to be good enough for using in between driving my real cars.

      @@LaurenceDusoswa this helped me figure out whether or not upgrade my g27 to the new one. Ive done some simple mods to mine and helped the pedals feel much better with some progressive springs i added. Plus your LUT file guide for AC really helped make my g27 feel precise. Too bad they didnt include the shifter in the bundle. That was a bad move by logitech especially while charging more than what they used to for more value.

    Hey Laurence, thanks for the review! Do you have any noise issues with TrueForce enabled games? This is my first wheel set after almost 15 years - I'm basically a noob on newer generation models. I know geared wheels make noise but I have makes so much noise that it is almost impossible to play during night. Is this normal? I didn't notice it first because I was playing with headphones on.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 года назад +4

      It can make lots of noise yeah. What I used to do is turn down the kerb effects as they made the most noise. If you want a quieter wheel, you need something that’s not gear driven :(

    Wow this is probably one of the most thorough reviews I've seen on this wheel! You explained true force better than most other channels!
    Currently this and the tmx pro are both $250 on US amazon.
    At this price point, what are the pros and cons of each wheel and which would you recommend and why?
    I'd love to see a review from you comparing the two!

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the feedback :) I haven’t spent time recently with the tmx and I’ve never had one for review so I don’t feel like my opinion carries much weight. The Logitech pedals are very good for the price point. The tmx uses belts as well as gears and is less noisy than the Logitech. I would still go with the Logitech but again, that’s just a high level opinion and the lack of a clutch on the tmx is a deal breaker for me. When it comes to the t300, the ffb is far better than the g923 but the t3pa pedals aren’t as good as the g923 pedals.

    • @taggerung890
      @taggerung890 4 года назад

      @@LaurenceDusoswa thanks for replying!
      I forgot to mention that the tmx pro comes with the tp3a pedals. I've heard that those are slightly better both in feel and control considering the fact that the tp3a is 10 bit (giving you more resolution when applying the pedals) do you know if logitech g923 pedals are still 8bit?
      My main hesitations with the logitech are
      1) loud clunkiness and notchiness might sound and feel too much like a toy, taking away from the immersion/ reduce the feel and your ability to control the car.
      I've driven my friends tmx wheel (15-20 mins so not that long) and I worry that the "smoothness" is something I'll miss / greatly notice by going with gear driven wheels.
      I guess I'm looking for something that has quick feed back, and something that I can use and immediately feel "yes this feels like a real car" kind of experience... Also I'm looking to use this with assetto corsa, project cars 2, and dirt rally so I don't know if they can take advantage of "true force" yet
      This was kind of alot, thanks in advance 😅

    Great review, clear, conscisce and answered my questions as virtually no one did a long term test on this. The launch price in the uk was £350 but has now reduced to £260. At this lower price point do you think this is a good first time entry level wheel and worth it over the g29 which is currently £180? I was thinking of combining this with the playseat challenge foldable cockpit. Thanks again for the great content.

But then after a couple of laps and races, I was in fact 4 seconds faster than on
      controller. The leather on the G29 feels better than the wheel in my car. The brake was not so good

    Great review mate!
    IMHO, i was hoping the 923 would be a loadcell brake, its a $2 part, every other G series wheel has an aftermarket loadcell, its high time this was factory-supplied.
    I was curious if they were going to belt drive the G next wheel, but, not to be. And a magnet paddle-shift bracket, simple aftermarket add-ons, from the factory would be fantastic and little effect to the price point, yet a step towards adding better feel.
    If those few things were in it, it would easily justify the price point hke.
    That being said, its a step up, and not backwards, so there's that.
    Is it enough to replace my G920 for competition use? not really.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад +2

      100% correct on all points dude. It would be relatively simple for sure. I just hope that they become a bit more active in sim racing. Surely they have to be working on other sim products too.

    • @DaveMcRee
      @DaveMcRee 4 года назад +1

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Agreed mate, however, thinking about it, you can't really put a loadcell in a set of pedals, mostly designed to fit under a drivers desk, lounge room, as in, you cant put 60kg of foot pressure in a set of pedals not bolted down in a rig, so i guess, there's that, being their target market.
      In saying that, I've not used the last 2 sets of logi pedals as i run aftermarket ones, but have enjoyed their lineage of racing wheels for ther relative quality and price point
      leather rims, decent amount of buttons, metal wheel rim, goof stock mountings, easy mode setup, and across the board compatibility with various titles.
      but, hall effect sensors, again, just little quality parts make a minimal price point, or at least, relevant to its new price point.
      As you mentioned, Logi could easily make a handbrake for the rally/drift guys too, as the shifter example sets.
      I'm really impressed you gave an honest drive of this wheel and pedals and gave a good relative review compared to your other higher-end spec kit.
      I'd like to think they should take a look at what existing logi sim drivers are cheaply adding to their wheels and make that factory parts, and even at this new price point, makes it easily worth it.
      even if logi themselves made these things as standalone option addon products, as higher-end wheels and pedals sets do.
      Again, great review mate! thumbs up. :-)

      Oh For sure mate!.
      Consoles do have a valid place in the culture of racing games, even if its mario kart, we all know what that is, and usually in casual conversations you'll always find someone who knows what gran turismo or forza is, so we can thank the console market for keeping sim racers supplied with sim gear.
      There was a time when it was only logi who were making sim gear (for consoles), and we didn't have all the fantastic options we do today.
      My first 'racing' console was a wheel sequential shifter and a pedal set plugged into a then current 'Colecovision' Console and the game 'Turbo', in the very, very 80's lol.

    I'm done with Logitech myself.
    Started with a G25. Arguably their best iteration of the series, no real competition at the time. Gearbox broke quickly (but fixable). Died a noble death after ~7 years of use (lobsided steering thing and pedals spike...despite cleaning, the pedals ''broke'' after a day of use at best).
    Bought a G27. At the same time G910 keyboard, G502 mouse and G933 headset (back to those at end of post). G27 had pedal spike very early on and required cleaning every week (despite keeping them well covered). Wheel died starting with going lobsided then eventually stopped functioning alltogether. It lasted just over 2 years.
    Bought a G29. At least my G27 shifter worked (until that as good as died by not registering shifts). I actually liked the rubber thing in the pedals, of course nowhere near as good as load cells but much better than their old pedals. Sadly, the wheel lost it's centering and it was a few degrees off center after about a year of use.
    G933 started creaking after a few weeks of use. 2 of my friends had exactly the same issue. I moved country so couldn't get it replaced. Both my friends' replacements started to creak quickly, again. G910 whilst very nice, some of the key thingies broke off (they really are very thin). Recently, some keys are either not functioning or they recognize way too many clicks. Annoying. G502 no problems with and will buy the wireless replacement when needed.
    I've got mechanical sympathy, so it's not due to hard use or hitting things.
    The G923 is a sham. A rebranded G29 with a better spring.
    Bought a T300 RS with rubber mod which will arrive next week. Only for temporary use due to country I live in for the time being has bad internet and everythiing needs to be imported.

WHAT if you had invested your money in a wheel (that don't come cheap) that is compatible with an X-box but later in life you buy a PS, instead of the X-box.. Now your wheel is not usable on that console. Do YOU go to the extend of buying a 2nd wheel, just so you can play it on the PS?

      Every product, including your consoles, are to make money for a company. But the main reason for them being different is because they work differently, are branded differently and are subject to different licences. So if logitech for some reason lost the Xbox license, they could still sell the other. Or if a new console came along they could just roll out a new version.

      Also so it’s possible to drift? I feel like it turn slower than the belt driven is that true? Like in terms of wheel rotation with the g923 vs belt driven I feel like it rotates slower I’m watching people with belt driven and when driving it’s moving very fast

    Crazy how in this video he talks about how bad the price is and the competition is laughing. TM had a similar launch to the T248. Today I bought a G923 on eBay for $300. Which is about the average price of a used G29. And $200 less than the T300.

      Yeah it seems it's pretty easy now to find a deal. When I released this video, the product was only just out and there were no bargains.

    Hello friend! I'm trying to use it in Win 8.1 but is not recognizable. Not in G.Hub nor in Gaming Software. In Device manager appears as an error of driver install. Anyway I search all the NET and trying diverse counsels found out-there but not solution for me. I can't play this thing. (I want to use it in American Truck Simulator. Seems this garbage is too complicated and far too expensive for what it is!!! I will send it back right now!!! Any counsel for me to buy another good simple Plug&Play wheel for my game, please???? (Euro Truck and American Truck Simulators).

    I still don't get why don't they release a new shifter with a sequential mode, like on the G25...
    I bought my G29 set with the shifter for ~200-220€ on sale. I have plans to upgrade, but it will be a gear driven system.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 года назад

      They don’t seem to see value in sequential or handbrakes unfortunately...

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Also not in load cell or belt driven wheels, they only do minimal changes on their entry level wheel. There is no upgrade path on Logitech unfortunately. Their device is reliable, I would love to see more advanced simracing stuff from them.

    I cant stress enough how big a change that spring upgrade is. If you have a previous wheel, get that progressive pitch spring.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад

      Yeah it’s massive. I wonder if Logitech will be selling it on its own. It’s should slot straight into the older pedals

      Sure, but I’d be surprised if they will sell it on their own. Other companies may sell similar though

      @@LaurenceDusoswa i have the g29, got it like a month ago and if the progressive spring is avalibe i wanna try it, but i really really like the rubber brakes on the g29, for rallying ita very good but for formula type of races well not so much but i can make sensitivity settings

    Anyone think the G29 pedals are better with a rig though? Because you'll be able to press as hard as you want, as intended without the pedal base slipping across the floor?
    If I'm correct, the reason for the progressive spring in the brake pedal this time round was due to the consumer feedback from the G29 brake rubber stop pedal. Being the pedal base slipping across floors as a result of having to involve more pressure when applying the brake, due to the rubber stop (which I think with a rig it gives a more realistic breaking experience my theory is) in the G29 model. The progressive spring with the new model just provides a lighter resistance as I can only guess statistically most users have the pedal bases on their floors which means less chance of the pedal base sliding or moving across the floor or carpet or whatever, maybe?
    Therefore, as I have a rig to securely bolt the pedal base to, I propose maybe using the G29 pedal set with the G923 wheel for a more optimum experience if you have a rig ? Or do you think the progressive spring is just simply better, thoughts please?

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  2 года назад +1

      All pedals are better when they can’t move, and for me, a bit of progressive weight in the pedal is important

      @@LaurenceDusoswa @A Tribe Called Cars Cool, I just brought the G923 so shall happily embrace the progressive spring version, in good haste kind sir as well I may add!
      Although I would love the thrustmaster TG 2, but it's slightly more than double the price of the G923. But I'm just a bin man budget sim racer anyway, when compared to today's standards.

    Is it worth upgrading from a G29/G920?
    No, that's why Logitech got the backslash. If they only increased the power by 50% or more, this could have been a meaningful upgrade.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 года назад

      Probably not worth upgrading as such, no. They did have the opportunity to make it something that people would love to upgrade to.

  • @4567chuck
    @4567chuck 3 года назад +1

    The main problem is you can’t upgrade this well if I buy a thrust master I can always upgrade piece by piece

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  3 года назад +1

      On PC you can upgrade whatever you like. Pedals, shifters, etc are all USB so you can mix and match whatever you like.
