I have one of these bad boys, and if you’re not gonna buy something like a fanatec FFB setup, this is your best bet.
Funnily enough, I only really play GT7 on it using a PS5. But the right sim bundled with the right wheel, it’s really nice to race with and true force functions really well.
In Britain, if you see one of these on sale for £ 240 - 270, and you’ve been looking for a beginners wheel for yourself, just go ahead and get it. You won’t be disappointed.
Don’t go and buy a PXN wheel or a £ 100 thrustmaster one. I owned a PXN V9 and not only did the website and app have spelling mistakes in it, it’s the crappiest wheel you can buy.

It is. The Logitech G29/G923 when used right is good. I'd recommend people not to follow/listen to negative comments about this wheel. At some point I would like to get a DD wheel, but I will continue using the G29 for older and arcade games on older consoles not supported by current DD wheels.

I just told a friend (Who is more into sim racing) I ordered the G923 and knew that there are better wheels. He was like cancel the order and get a Moza R5 because it is DD. I was like I want to at least start with this and see if I even want to invest more money and time. He was like they cost the same (They dont). I need a baseline to start with so IF I upgrade I will know what the lesser wheel felt like. Also I can return the the G923 within 90 days so I have plenty of time to mess around with it and see if I even want to get into sim racing.
He said he was not mad but seemed a little peeved I did not do what he wanted by cancelling my order. I did look up the Moza and it is sold out so I could not even get it anyways. Also I would not be able to return it like I can with the G923 (Got from Amazon as a renew aka refurbished item...90 days refund or exchange)

    Hi
My entry into Sim Racing was the Thrustmaster TX RW Leather Edition Wheel, TX (T300) servo base, & pedal set.
That served for a couple of years. Upgraded to Fanatec CSL DD, McLaren V2 wheel, & Thrustmaster TLCM pedal set with a brake mod.
For now, this is pretty satisfying. Though, I want to upgrade pedals sooner than later.

I'm currently running and modding a G923. So far I've wired in an external handbrake "V1" and actually just installed the kit to put my button box in front of my deep dish wheel and have been in contact with the seller from etsy.
Had a bit of an issue with the 3D printed paddles but he just sent me a new set I'm gonna try em out tomorrow.
This is my 2nd one in about a year, first one was used, this one was new, and I'm loving the modability of it. I will say, I do plan on upgrading to the $1400 Logitech Pro direct drive in the future, but for now I plan on modding the hell out of my 923 and keeping it as an extra setup.

One of the better reviews for this wheel that I've seen. I'm currently looking for a wheel for SIM racing, but my problem is that I'm a 70 year old man who's driven many different sports cars with manual transmissions on fast mountain roads since the 70's so I have certain expectations as far as feel and feedback is concerned from the steering and pedals. I also have a limited budget, so basically I'm between a hard place and a rock. So I guess my only options are to either settle and buy a G923 (US$280 new as of 2024) or look around for a good deal on a used Fanatec or other high end setup. I've been looking at Logitech's Pro steering wheel too, but it may be priced a little beyond what I can afford with pedals and shifter. Thanks for your honest review, especially on pointing out how an older and more experienced driver might feel about the G923 or any other beginner wheel.

A quality review as always, but what an uptick in production quality and editing - great stuff.
I used a G29 for many years, and it served me well. It's maybe not as durable as Logitech's older offerings, like the Driving Force GT, but it is a great starter wheel and can push you well into the future if you choose to stick with it. I reached my ultimate pace with it, and in a roundabout trickle-down way I wouldn't be in my current career in Esports' orbit without my G29 and what I was able to extract from it.
I'll also vouch for AXC. It's quality stuff, works perfectly, and I wouldn't go anywhere else if you need to freshen up your pedals. My G29's pedals were threadbare, with a non-functional clutch and a cheap potentiometer kit with some badly 3D-printed gears - I dropped in three AXC pots and a wiring harness, and they were good as new. I refurbished the pedals to hand my G29 down to my girlfriend's little brother and I can rest easy knowing that he'll be heel-toeing and trailbraking for a good long while, and will recommend the TrueBrake if he gets a rig and needs something harder.

The brake pedal really lets it down but is quite easily sorted. I quite like mine but when I jumped on a fanatec setup it's night and day. You won't get faster on a better wheel necessarily but your consistency certainly will. I couldn't believe how much easier lapping was on the fanatec I tried. I would say though, I don't remember which fanatec wheel I was on but, the logitechs buttons (apart from shifters) felt loads better than the pricer fanatec.

@@blastofo there's a rubber stopper in it that makes it way too stiff by default, like you can barely even reach 100% and it's super inconsistent. Removing that rubber makes it tons better but then it reaches 100% input in-game before actually being physically pressed all the way in. So for me I'm using the clutch pedal to brake instead, it was difficult to get used to because it's so light and has little travel but it works.

I love jumping on ACC and doing the LFM daily races, normally in the top 10 and quite often get podium finshes. Ive played on the DD wheels and to be honest im not any quicker than with my G923 which is much better than what these youtube reviews make out. I did try out my friend’s Fanatec DD Pro 8nm and that was amazing! But it’s more than 4 times the price of my Logitech wheel set. I will hopefully upgrade one day, but for now I’m having a blast. I’m much slower around tracks using the wheel than I was using a remote control, but I am improving bit by bit. I’m an older player, so my reflexes aren’t what they use to be - LOL

To be brutally honest it's a cheap plastic toy but I've grown to love it for what it is. 300 euros may sound like a lot to spend, but considering that it's a wheel base, rim, pedals and desk clamp all in one with no need to think about anything else, it's honestly a great package. And yes, you will still have tons of fun with it and you can still be fast with it on a sim and have great races. I've just ordered my first DD wheel and the amount of tiny details and technicalities to consider was just immense. I'm sure it will be worth it in the end, but the simplicity is something I'll miss about the G29 for sure.

I just got into sim racing and I chose the G923. Being new, it's obvious I am not experienced with other wheels, but so far I am really enjoying my G923. I think the build quality and feel are great for the price. I think the Force Feedback is pretty good, though that varies with games. GT7 has good feedback, but ACC has really great feedback. My biggest complaint is the brake pedal. It feels way too stiff for me. While I am getting a bit more used to it, I still may search for a mod. I've heard people switch the clutch and brake pedal springs (I'm thinking about this) or people buying the aftermarket mod that was advertised at the beginning of this video (also thinking about this). I bought a nice Playseat Logitech simrig, so this wheel is mounted very well on it, and I am having a blast. I wanted to make sure I would fall for the sport of sim racing before buying expensive wheels. Plus, I ended up with 2 of them! haha I wanted to be able to swap the wheel out between PS5 (GT7) and Xbox (Forza) and see what platform I enjoyed better before going with an expensive wheel.

My argument for this wheel, which I’m thinking about purchasing is that I just want to wheel and anything cheaper than this one is utterly terrible or doesn’t have any force feedback. The way I want force feedback is informational, cheaper wheels with no force feedback, or terrible force feedback, don’t give me any more information than a controller. I don’t care if the force feedback is weak as long as it’s decently accurate. Racing is my goal not immersion. I will get enough of that from my VR headset lol.

Although there's not a huge difference between belt driven and direct drive, gear driven wheelbases are awful. They sound like they're breaking, all the time it's in use, avoid like the plague. I would say that it's probably worth spending a little more for an entry level direct drive system from Cammus, Fanatec or Moza, even if you decide sim racing isn't for you, it'll be easier to sell a direct drive system. I would buy a belt drive especially if you can get a ready to go system at a good price.

I've just started playing with a G29, and I feel like I have to press the accelerator a bit too much before anything happens? Subtle touches on the pedal doesn't have any effect, and it's really impacting my game after playing with the controller for years. I guess maybe I just need to get used to it🤷🏼‍♂ It doesn't really feel realistic though, that bit.

To indicate the revs - I'm guessing.

In ETS-2 (latest version) I can't find any setting to control the LEDs there either.
