Great videos! Meticulous craftsmanship and talent. I have begun a woodwork evening course. I thought I was relatively good with tools, as I studied sculpture at Uni, but apparently my sawing was woeful! Watching your sawing technique I can see where I am going wrong! Totally agree with the marking gauge comment, the veritas looks superior to the community college variety!, thank you keep up the great work!
I need a video on how to get/keep my chisels as sharp as yours! I want mine to cut through wood like butter too haha. The dovetail remover is pretty handy! Good idea!

Sean, when putting the board in the vice to cut the tails, you can use the dovetail marker/guide against the vice to set the saw lines vertical. Although this is easier to see on video than write down!

5:41 I saw what you did there :-) Excellent video as always some great ideas and tips. Just finished designing my very first piece of furniture on paper, so this is a very will timed video, I'm going to need all the tips & tricks I can find in cutting the dovetails when I start building it.
Sean, great tips from start to finish. I think you are using an adjustable saw frame from Cooksongold. Are you using saw blades from them? I’ve bought some but they seem smaller than the blades I see in the video. Please could you say where you source your blades. Andrew
Sean, when you cut your tails after removing the tape, are you cutting right to the edge of the tape and are you chiseling them clean afterward? I ask because your joints are super tight.
Hi Scott, I aim to get the joint straight from the saw so yes I cut right on the edge. Sometimes the cut might not be perfect and you have to tweak the wall with a chisel. But its good practice and faster if you can get the joint direct from the saw.

Hey mate, thanks a lot! I'm thrilled the videos are helpful! To be honest I think I have only ever changed the blade once. I only use that fret saw for removing dovetail waste, so it doesn't get alot of abuse.
Cool! Love the pin board remover, didn’t know that one. Wondering... if you saw on both sides, isn’t it contradictory with sawing from the show face ? Another dilemma for me: I tried to make the invisible baseline by marking it after the tail transfer, BUT when using masking tape, I basically roll off the tape while gauging, which ruins my marking. Any tip on this besides skipping invisible baseline after transfer gauging ?
Hi mate, glad you liked the video. Yes I do agree, I just wanted to show alex's method for people that just want to focus on one angle. I always keep the show face toward me and saw both angles. So yes you cannot do both method together. With the invisible baseline, I should cover that in my next video, I going to walk through my whole dovetail cutting process.

I use the Rob Cosman sharpening method. There is a really good video on his channel on his sharpening process. Hope that helps mate!

Best tip…. Tape on the end grain of the pin board. I’ve not seen that one before. Second best tip …. Dovetail removal tool. Also never seen before

you have the end grain wrong side down, the cup should be up lol.
