Funniest thing I’ve heard in a while: “Ok, that’s a nice ship.” Then Luke immediately says “what a piece of junk!” Lmao
Omgosh, that was so funny.. lol
Yeah that shit gave me a good laugh lol.
I laughed at that too it’s amazing!
Hell yeah I was like wait till you hear what Luke says about the falcon
The Millinum Falcon. It's like having a 454 Chevy engine in a beat up Gremilin body. Long live the Falcon.
OG Wakanobe ftw! I’m never calling him anything else ever again. Welcome to the dark side Leo!
Yeah I caught that too, I was mid toke on the bong and that made me cough so hard but it was darn funny.

@@tenacc912 I thought ACDC’s dirty deeds (and they’re done dirt cheap) was “Dirty deeds and the Thun-der Jeep” until I was like 19!
Wakanobe... Tyrone Wakanobe.
Much like you calling Tyrian Lannister ‘Tyrone’ please only call Obi-Wan ‘OG wakanobi!’ Can’t wait until I hear what you call Chubaka or Boba-Fett
haha Right off the bat. "They need to get better accuracy with these damn guns." Welcome to the meme, Leo.
And so it begins... For professional soldiers, they can't hit shit
I was always under the assumption that The Force protects them and that's why stormtroopers shots are very inaccurate. Like you don't control the entire known galaxy and your soldiers can't shoot for shit.
@BattleAngelFanThey are supposed to be accurate, but the plot armor is too strong. Now they are a joke, in latest SW movies and series they turned from average faceless army of evil into minions with guns.
@@MrJctii916 I think the in-universe explanation is that their armor and weapons are mass-produced crap, more of a intimidating uniform than anything else. The storm troopers at this point are just millions of basic conscripts from all around the galaxy rather than the genetically cloned troopers from the prequel era.
There’s a difference between storm troopers and clone troopers. Clone troopers were excellent shots and that’s who Obi-Wan worked with in the clone wars.
"2 robots out there making big decisions" the whole franchise in a nutshell. should have been the tag line
I'm glad you pointed that out. Loved it when he said it.
@@yottawatt HAHAAH! LOVED IT!
“ Can I use the force in anyway?” That’s what every kid back in the 70s would ask themselves and one reason why this franchise still is going strong to this day!
I think that's what everyone wonders after they see this movie.
The force is used every day, both good and bad. Not at the same level, but more real and more important. How will you use the force today? I choose to send positivity to all around me despite the dark forces in real life around us.
You can call "The Force", God's Will, the universe, plot shield etc. It's the main character of the entire franchise!
It's the same with x men etc im waiting to this day for my x gen to pop out or my letter from Hogwarts 😂
“What the hell, Wakanobi!?” 😂😂😂
Never change, Leo
I was dying when he said that 🤣
ObeeWakanobee! Leo is pure gold!
Waka waka waka!
Should be on a t-shirt.
Leo you said that so many times! Had me in tears when you said it three times in like two sentences lol
We must remember to have him watch SPACEBALLS after he finishes the original trilogy.
I can't wait for that!! He'll love it!
Yes!!!!!
Also Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Maybe save that for after the Prequel Trilogy though.
And The Family Guy SW specials.
And the Robot Chicken episodes. Those are funny as hell.
Obi-Wan sacrificed himself so that he could join his consciousness with what is called the living force. By doing so, he can be anywhere and everywhere at any moment. That is how he can keep communicating with Luke, and why he told Vader that he would become more powerful than he could ever imagine.
Yes and the jedi celebrate death, while the sith are afraid of dying
You know a character's iconic when absolutely everyone, even people who've never seen the movies, still say: "That's Darth Vader, of course I know who that is!" the moment he appears.
I've watch a number of reaction videos for first time Star Wars viewers lately. Every single one of them, without exception, recognized Vader on sight. He's a character who's bigger than the franchise.
His breathing alone can be recognized from even people who aren't fans of star wars.
Even in the Jedi Fallen Order game, seeing Darth Vader appear on screen for the first time was just fun and hype lol
I would say it's almost the same with R2D2 and C3P0
I read a comment not long ago saying there is a generation which was born with the knowledge that Darth Vader is Luke father and it's true :D I watched Star Wars for the first time when I was 16 and i knew it already since God know when
I was 10 in 1977 when this movie hit the theatres. I’ll tell ya, in my neighborhood in Los Angeles, this movie seemed to change the world. In just a couple of months, kids were coming to school on Halloween dressed up as their favorite Star Wars characters. It just got into everybody’s minds!
I was also living in LA (Hollywood specifically) in the late 70’s. After May 1977, it was nothing but Star Wars in are school and my neighborhood. Seeing the massive lines at Chinese Theater was unforgettable.
I was minus 1
"That's a nice ship, that's a nice ship"

One of My Most Fond Memories of childhood is going to the Drive-in opening weekend with My Sister and Her Boyfriend/Future Husband to watch this film... and then it actually became a cool tradition for the three of Us to go watch opening night whenever another Star Wars film would debut ... We went and watched every one until Episode III in 2005 when She had Cancer and wasn't well enough to go so I did what I could so She could still watch it and found a "friend" who knew some people who could "help" and got Me a bootleg copy of the film... it made Her pretty Happy that She was able to get to watch it and that's All that mattered...

Couldn't agree more, Tora! 😃👍❤️ Thank you, Leo!!
You did it. You finally did it! You’re going to love The Empire Strikes Back, Leo. Seriously. Can’t wait to see your reaction.
Fun fact, George Lucas had a rough outline of all 9 movies but decided to start with Episode 4 because he felt there was a good chance he would only be able to make one of them. Hence why it ends with what could be considered a finale, and also why it is the only movie released without a number attached to it.
Smoke brother. These movies can be trippy and fun. You’ll miss things but that’s why we watch movies again.
Back in 1977 we had never seen special effects like this before. George Lucas changed film as we knew it. I am so glad you started watching with the first released. No other way to do it. Episodes 4, 5, 6 and then 1, 2, 3. You’ll understand why as you go through them. Enjoy! I giggled every time you said Obi Wakenobi!
Disney changed the game. It should be watched by starting at Rouge 1 and then into release order.
Back in '77, I was the right age for this film (eleven). I've seen a few people get into this franchise at an older age, but being exposed to it early made such an impression on me. I'm STILL obsessed.
@@VadersRage I hear you. I was 5 when A New Hope came out. I was amazed at the visual effects at the time. It was like nothing else out there. My world was changed forever.

I was 19 when this came out. Theater was so crowded I had to sit on my boyfriend's lap. Didn't matter, my jaw was hanging open the whole movie. When the Millenium Falcon went to lightspeed somebody yelled, "He must have a four barrel on that thing!" Whole crowd lost it laughing. This was pre VHS tape, I went to see this film 12 times before it was finally out of the theaters, it stayed for weeks. Lines formed around blocks to get in.
I hope you enjoy these Leo. I hope the fans don't turn you off of the franchise. One of the best 👌🏼
No true fan will ever turn a newcomer off the Original Trilogy. It's sacred and untouchable. Prequels and mostly sequels are the contentious ones.
True fans watch everything
@@baron6797 Those aren't fans, those are simps. True fans know that there is some really great and some really disgustingly bad Star Wars out there.
@@baron6797 Ehhh, that mentality is what causes franchises to become lazy. The idea that "fans" will just mindlessly consume whatever they put out regardless of the quality. The original trilogy is the only one worth watching. Maybe episode 1 to look for the Darth Jar Jar hints.

"need to get better accuracy with these damn guns"
Wow, you could tell the empire can't aim immediately!
@12:00 “What’s up with his father?” I love it when this question is asked, since most of us already know the answer. 😁
"How are they going to continue the story?" Well the Empire still exists, blowing up the death Star is like sinking a battleship, it's a blow to the navy but there are other ships to take its place.
My thoughts: Honey, you have a big storm comin.
If a navy battleship could blow up an entire country
if you're going to compare it to our navy, then the death star is definitely more like an aircraft carrier with nukes and a railgun than it is a battleship.
We won the battle. The war continues.
"How are they going to continue the story?" is a rhetorical question. Any unwanted answer is a spoiler!

Darth Vader cut him down, and now he's more powerful than he could possibly imagine, as the starting small forward for the Toronto Raptors.
The Empire Strikes Back is even better. They'll explain "the force" better.
As for subtitles, they won't show what R2D2 or Chewbacca says. The only thing you missed by not having subtitles on is that Han Solo owes Jabba the Hutt money.
Yeah did Lucas remove Greedo's subtitles for the Bluray or something? I've only watched the Despecialized or VHS versions in a long, long time.
@@STOCKHOLM07 They aren't on by default. You have to manually select (alien only) subtitles.
@@STOCKHOLM07 yeah they were removed; it's fluctuated to showing them or not throughout the versions. they also used to have normalized alphabet but changed it to aurebesh as well. star wars has ping pong'd between star warsing it and making it friendlier to normal audiences.
Fun fact: Grand Moff Tarkin, the guy who blew up Alderaan, was played by Peter Cushing, who, in an interview, said the costumiers couldn't find the right boot size for him, since he had enormous feet, so he did most of his scenes in carpet slippers, asking George Lucas to "shoot him from the waist up." You can actually find some images if you google a bit.

_cannot wait_ for the next two.
Leo will forever be G-O-A-T-E-D🐐🐐
Yeah, Leo if you're watching this through RUclips or Amazon video they _always_ erase any onscreen text translations that were originally included in _every_ movie. So in this movie you missed all the translations of what the aliens were saying. Originally it had translations for what the guy in the bar Han shot was saying and for what Jabba, the big slug creature, was saying to Han.
"Is it a trilogy?" Well yes but no.
There was originally a trilogy.
Then three more prequels popped up.
Then there's a movie between those prequel movies and the one you just watched.
Then they made a sequel trilogy that takes place after the original trilogy.
There are also animated series, which aren't really "cartoons."
And finally there's two seasons of the Mandalorian so far, which is live action.
Sooooooooo there's A LOT. There were also some movies based on characters from the third movie in the original trilogy, and a Holiday Special, and ... yeah.
So this is a very deep well, but go precisely as far as you like. People are going to howl at you no matter which way you go with it.
basically watch it in that order
Yeah except the holiday special not sure he would like it or not hahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't forget the Young Obi-Wan Series, Ahsoka Tano Series, Boba Fett Series, the potential Knights of the old republic series, Darth Maul series (my personal wish) & whatever the hell Disney is going to make for Disney+ after spending billions to own the rights to Star Wars. I'm not complaining, but I'm just saying...
And everything is based on the books which is an entire other world that makes everything else better(or worse) or its own thing.
And the Ewok shows

_The Force_ is similar to telepathy and telekinesis with some other random stuff like healing, draining life energy, or astral projection
The biggest benefit it gives force sensitive creatures are premonitions - this is similar to super strong telepaths in comics that can glimpse potential futures - it can make them appear to have almost innate skills (flying, marksmanship, repairing, etc.), crazy luck, and something akin to a spider-sense
"force sensitive" is essentially psychic, or psychic enough to be taught how to access the force. i see the Force as "the immaterial realm of magic and psychic energy", like The Warp in warhammer. the more you learn about the force and attuning yourself to it, the "higher level spells/spell like abilities" you get access to.
That's the uses of it. The force itself is everything.

@@Jackietreehorn39 Rogue One is awesome. I just meant for the skywalker arc.
Fun fact:
Most of the actors, prior to the release of the movie, thought it was gonna bomb because of how strange it was and because of how low the budget actually was
This is also why some line deliveries sound a bit off, because they literally didn't have the money to do that many takes to begin with, resulting in many of the scenes being done on the first try (like the opening scene where the Stormtroopers storm the ship)
Bonus Fun Fact:
Mark Hamill was brought in to audition for the role of Luke after Robert Englund recommended it to him over a slice of cold pizza.
Who is that? Well you might know him for playing the SMALL role of FREDDY KRUEGER
This movie (and the other two) impacted me so much growing up. We couldn't afford a lot of the toys so we used to use sticks we found or those cardboard wrapping paper tubes as light sabers, haha! Good memories. 😁

In the original scene where Han refers to Jabba as a "wonderful human being", Jabba was actually played by a human. The scene was cut from the original cinema release in 1977, and then re-introduced in 1997 when they added a load of CGI.
Yeah it would be best if he just pretended that scene never happened... or imagine Han was talking to one of Jabba's goons, that would make a lot more sense in context of Jabba's character.
I think they should've kept it cut, it works better with Jabba being this mysterious figure until later revealed.
@@asbjrnmaus7666 Most of the "improvements" to the original trilogy only make it worse. Especially Vader's "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Jedi.
@@ny8956I agree, a little CGI touch up here and there is ok (explosions and removal of the blue hue around the spaceships etc.). But Lucas went nuts with it...

_"It seemed like it'd be one movie."_
Which was the original intent which is why, when this was released in 1977, the title was simply "Star Wars". No number or subtitle. It wasn't until this became a smash hit that George Lucas decided to make it the first of a trilogy, and that trilogy would be the middle set of a trilogy of trilogies. Thus the reason that this first movie released got the number "4", and the trilogy of prequel movies got numbers 1 - 3.
He actually had an outline for all 9 movies before the project was greenlit. Since no studio was interested in committing to a 9 movie epic, he picked the movie which had the most self-contained story and pitched that.
@@legionaireb correct, we only ever got 6 Lucas movies too, last 3 where Disney
@@theredpillneo2296 Lucas certainly did not need more money, so I wonder whether he sold the franchise to Disney thinking: "Everyone thinks I f**ked up Episodes 1-3. Just wait till they see how terrible the Disney episodes will be (Episode 8, at least)."
Are you telling me the original Star Wars 1st movie is gone?????????
A thing to know, about George Lucas, is that he was a drag racer, back in the day, but got in a terrible wreck. You can see, in the Death Star trench scene, near the end of this film, that the perspective changes to first person, as the camera dips into the trench. He's able, to bring that "in-the-vehicle", visceral feel, to the audience. Breathtaking, and innovative, this film changed all of movie making, and society in general was impacted, too.
First saw this movie at a drive-in theater in June 1977. The cool thing about it was that during the space scenes you couldn't tell where the drive-in screen ended and the starry sky began.

The thing to understand about R2 D2 and why they won't subtitle him: In most science fiction, space is a metaphor for the ocean, so anyone on a starship crew is really just a sailor, even the robots. However, on top of being a sailor, R2 is also a mechanic. It's no wonder they have to bleep out every damn word he says.
As a 27 year old who can't remember a time when I didn't already love Star Wars, and as a long time fan of the channel, this video made me smile and laugh more than anything else has in at least a month. Nothing better than watching someone enjoy one of my favorite movies. I think you went into it with the right mindset. Obi Wan is a highly trained/ skilled Jedi who is insanely powerful with “the force.” It is how he is able to control the minds of stormtroopers (when they let he and Luke through early on saying “these aren’t the droids you are looking for.” However for how powerful the force is for the good heart of kenobi, it is equally as powerful for bad guys such as Darth Vader. The same force which allowed the mind control allowed Darth to choke that one officer from across the room. So yeah the force is a powerful, and sometimes very Scary tool!

I saw this movie as a teenager (1977 some 44 years ago, yes that's how old this film is :O ) when it was originally released at Leicester Square Theatre in London, UK. It was totally unique to me and just the first scene alone had the floor and seats rumbling and everyone in awe. The rest is history. Incredible memories as we really didn't know what to expect. You are in for one heck of a ride ;)
its one thing to know the cultural impact of certain media
its another to hear the experiences from people that were there day 1
thanks for sharing bro
“They better get better accuracy with those guns”
Fans: ummm yea about that….🤣🤣🤣
This brings me back to 1977 and seeing this in the theater. Your reaction was pure joy!
I was so excited to see this upload. I really got into Star Wars this year. I watched them when I was a kid and a lot of it went over my head. I hope you fall down the rabbit hole like I did so I can watch everything with you. The look on your face whenever something happened was the best 😂😂. I love how you pointed out that their aim was shit right off the hop. OG Wan Kenobi had me on the floor 😂. Can’t wait to see the next one!
- *PRISONERS (2013)*
- *TRUE ROMANCE (1993)*
- *THE TOWN (2010)*
- *PRIMAL FEAR (1991)*
Primal Fear is amazing. That was Edward Norton's best performance, imo.
It was 1996 though. Not '91.
It makes me so happy to see you have fun! Leo: "So, what's up with his dad?!?" - Me: "You will know soon... Very soon..."
That poor innocent child of summer:) soon, he will know that winter is coming... wait. Wrong video. Lol
As a white-as-the-driven-snow 90's kid, it's almost absurd to me that an adult human being can be so in the dark about Star Wars but damn don't I love it!
It's such a rare treat to get honest to goodness first impressions of Star Wars! Looking forward to Empore Strikes Back!
I'm an 80's kid and have never watched this till now. My brother's were obsessed with all these movies. I was just never into them.
Kudos! Experiencing a re-watch through your eyes is much fun!
Ah, brother man, thank you. I've seen this movie so many times, it's almost too familiar, and I really enjoyed seeing this with you. I appreciate seeing this through your eyes. One of the things I like about you is you always get into the characters and the human side of the story. That shows that you're a very empathetic person. Like when Major Payne made you cry, because you were caught up with Tiger getting his big day and win. I had a bunch of videos to watch tonight and I saved this reaction for last because I knew it was the best video on my feed tonight. If you thought LOTR fans were hardcore, you haven't seen anything yet. Lol. Don't let anyone ruin your experience. If you like you can consider me your Star Wars friendly guru. I grew up with Star Wars and it's a place I keep coming back to. I love me some good Star Wars. Thank you for starting with the original films. It's the best way to come into these. The next film, EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, is my favorite of the trilogy. Then you got RETURN OF THE JEDI. Then I assume you'll go to the prequels, EPISODES I-III. Then SOLO(meh) followed by ROGUE ONE that will bring you back full circle. The those last 3 movies. But to us true SW heads, such as myself, the complete timeline is Episodes I and II, CLONE WARS MICRO series vol 1, THE CLONE WARS seasons 1-7, CLONE WARS MICRO series vol 2, Episode III, THE BAD BATCH season 1(so far), REBELS seasons 1-4, SOLO, ROGUE ONE, Episodes IV-VI, MANDALORIAN Season 1 & 2 (so far). Then those other 3. But if you just stick to the films, I get it. No worries from me. I'll never give you a hard time on these. Star Wars is for everyone. There's something there for everyone to like. But if you feel up to the task, the shows will give much more depth to the SW universe. I probably know too much of already. I still have a bunch of comics and books to read to get to more of this universe. I think you're in for a great time either way. I've bent your ear enough for one post. Lol.
Watching it in release order gives you the intended feeling. There are things in episode 1, 2 and 3 that reference things from episode 4, 5, and 6. The story unfolds in a particular way.
The in-between stories you can probably watch in any order once you finish all 6. If you feel like it.
The newest 3 definitely aren't great, but you should watch them anyway, if you want. People hate them for good reason, but i like for people to find out why organically, because you also get to see the cool stuff. Despite all the valid criticism, they're a fun cinematic ride at least.
Then, onto the PARODIES. Weird Al, Robot Chicken, Bad Lip Reading and Auralnauts. 😂💖
Don’t forget Thumb Wars.
Don't forget Mel Brook's Space Balls.
Dude The Empire Strikes Back is one of the Best Sequels ever.
What did you call him? OG One enobe LOL!!!!! Dude you got me crying laughing. My dad took me to see this opening weekend at the theater back in the 70s. So glad you liked it man :D
I'm so happy to see you watch this for the first time! I felt your reaction like most of is fans on a nostalgic level.
Love these movies!!
The film was nominated for 10 Oscars including Best Picture but won for:
Best Visual Effects
Best Sound Editing
Best Sound Mixing
Best Original Score
Best Film Editing
Best Production Design
Best Costume Design
When the film was released the cast thought it was gonna be a box office disappointment, but became a huge hit, making $770 million dollars at the box office against a $13 million dollar budget. Critics called "a rousing space opera" with elements of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, which were the inspiration for the movie.
Which were *SOME* of the inspirations for the movie. There were several others.
You’re by far one of my favorite people on RUclips and your reactions are the best…and Now you’re watching my absolute favorite movies of all time!!!! I’m so excited to watch you turn into a super fan….
I'm glad you enjoyed the story! Watching it as a kid was amazing but seeing that your reaction was similar to mine was heartwarming. I'm really looking forward to this series, I'll be there to have fun with you:)
Im a die hard Star Wars head since birth! Glad you’re coming around to these movies!!
3PO called R2 a glop of grease, imagine if he's a sarcastic guinea with his beeps and boops
Man, I wasn't born until 1980, so I couldn't appreciate these movies until the mid 80's, but even then these were the coolest movies around. We didn't have a VCR so I had to catch them when they came on TV. Eventually I got the trilogy on VHS in the early 90's and I watched the hell outta them. Obviously they're not perfect, but man, what a cool adventure!
Leo: what's he mean?what's up with his father?😆
You just took every Star Wars fan back to our childhood years. May The Force Be With You.
Yo I’m hype you’re getting into Star Wars. Doing it right episode 4-6 and then 1-3. 🤙🏿😎🤙🏿😎🤙🏿😎
R2D2 is so smart because he has over 10-20 years of experience in droid life from war to infiltration without getting a single memory-wipe by then :P
he went through the clone wars all the way up until that point in particular so he has seen some shit
"They need to get better accuracy with these dam guns." You've stumbled upon the ongoing joke that troopers can't hit anything with their blasters.
Your life is forever changed now Leo! I don't even remember how old I was the first time I saw this movie but it was probably before I could walk lol. This OG trilogy is as legendary as it gets
I still use Obi wan’s saying to this day, “who’s more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows?”
8:30 ive actually been to the location of the homestead…back in 2008, it’s on some salt flats in a North African country called TUNISIA…any time the films shot stuff on location for this planet - Tatooine - it was largely done in this country.
There is no actual pit at the edge of the crater where Luke watches the twin suns set, it’s just a raised ring, the underground section is in a hotel a fair way away (been there too) but the group I was with, we stood and watched the sunset from that EXACT SPOT.
All the scenes in the canyon with artoo captured by jawas, meeting old Ben, and the bluff they are standing on when Ben gives his line about mos Easley are all the same canyon, and it’s still pretty much the same
Groups of about ten of us spent a fortnight going to all the recorded locations used for the films
You, and those that went on that adventure, win most fanatic Star Wars extremists of the decade.
I hope you all traveled single file, to hide your numbers, and avoided stepping in bantha poodoo.
How are the salt flats possible on a round earth?
@@matthewpohlman considering the sheer size of earth, the perception of such a curve is nigh on impossible…salt “flats” is simply what they are called, and such locations, due to the lack of hills etc…their flatness…are one of the few places where you can actually SEE that curve on ground level…
@@trayolphia5756 You are pretty funny. You can believe in a spinning ball hurtling around the sun and through 'outer space' if you would like. You are free to practice any religion you please. However, you may want to check with your high priest, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, on your facts. He claims that you cannot SEE any curvature from extremely high elevations, let alone at ground level as you claim. He also claims the earth is pear-shaped.
yo some of tatooine is Death Valley in California, mostly shots with rock formations. (i thought including the scene with jawas catching R2z) but ive never been to Tunisia, or Death Valley. just google maped it before.
17:06 That day, Tarkin was amazed to discover that when Vader was saying "As you wish," what he meant was, "I love you."
😆
Your reactions always make my day or night better. I feel like your a real life friend and I'm actually watching and experiencing these movies with you. Thank you man, you da man! I will be doing your patreon as soon as I have money to. Keep up the awesome content my dude! Oh and Obi Wan Kenobi will forever be known as Wakanobi to me now, thank you for that lol
"That was lit" 😍 Leo, you've taken your first step into a larger world 😁 I know all you guys have to go on are the extra super special editions 😢😢😢
OG Wanna Nobie may be the best alternative name I’ve ever heard.
It's important to remember that "Star Wars: A New Hope" hit theaters in 1977. That was only one short year after the Apple 1 kit computer became available.
SD Cards? What is that? Programs were held on audio tape, punch cards, or paper tape.
This is the kind of fiction that drives technology.
It is amazing watching someone who doesn't seem to know anything about it, experience Star Wars for the first time.
Almost like they are getting to see it opening night.
