Dead ass. Him. Tyrone. Gandorf. I have so many new memories to these movies/shows now
Lmao. "He's bald headed, so thats why he uses the helmet" that killed me
My earliest memory was from when I was 3 or 4 watching this movie with my dad on VHS. I was filled with wonder and excitement seeing Luke trip those giant walkers on Hoth. I'm 19 and Dad's been dead since I was 9, but every time I see this movie, I never forget the amazement I felt at 4 years old. If anyone read this, thanks.
I just lost my father at 51, he was 84. I cannot imagine your loss. Our memories are what make loss bearable.
@@JPMadden Stay strong & remember the good times & memories he provided. I lost my dad when he was 40 & I was 4. Every time I hear classical music, it reminds me of him teaching me to appreciate it.
When he said "Darth Vader gotta die, dude killed Luke's Dad" Just made me smile thinking about the end of this video :) You the GOAT Leo!
Yep, came to the comments to say just that. So glad that didn't get spoiled for him. Now to finish watching to see his face when he finds out!
You mean "Dark Vader"
I had to pause the video to tell my bro in law and sister. We're over here dying lmfao...
Waka nobi told him that
First time I've seen anyone flat out deny it.
"Go to earth, go bowling or something" had me dying
Grow up Vader 😠
I laughed so hard at all of his comments on Vader! “Dude, Darth Vader can FaceTime you and take you out!😂😂
No audio at the end is because of copyright it was fine when first uploaded not Leo's fault guys ✌️
I can’t believe I just watched almost 50 min of one of the best reactions to _The Empire Strikes Back_ I’ve ever seen only to have the big reveal cruelly muted for some 3 minutes … NNNOOOOOO!!! 🤦♂️ What a shame. 😔
Yeah I totally get why the movie soundtrack probably had to be muted for copyright issues but I wish he had kept his own commentary at least so we could hear the reaction to it and any thoughts afterwards. I'm sure there's a reason he chose to just mute it all but it sure was a bummer in an otherwise great reaction.
@@foilhattiest1 Ikr, totally agree with you both. I was left so unsatisfied with that, at least he should have unmute his own audio.
Guys, he didn't mute it, YT did.
Oh damn I guess someone on RUclips must have muted it in one of their manual checks then if the original upload had audio. I didn't even know they did that, that sucks :(
Cruelly
“Darth Vader can take you out through FaceTime.” Line of the reaction, and the day. Possibly the week, month, or year. 😂🤣😂🤣👌🏽👏🏽
It's been over 40 years since this movie was released, and it's STILL my favorite Star Wars movie.
I agree - next to Rogue One. That is an EXCEPTIONAL war picture...
bc its the best one
@@roberttruhn5067 best SW movie since the original 3
This was my favorite until Rogue One. My new list is R1, 5, 6, 4, 3.
It is a banger to be fair, but being a kid when the prequels came out (I know haha) 3 holds a special place for me. 3 then 5, 4, 6, 1, 2. for me anyways, 4, 6 are hard to very decide and often switch haha
As a star wars fan I can easily say watching you react to these films is one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. You are so innocent and genuine and enthusiastic with your reactions mixed with the fact that coming across a human who hasn’t seen these films makes the enjoyment 1,000 times more. I sincerely hope you are enjoying these films on your own merit.
The whole duel between Luke and Vader is a cinematic masterpiece in my opinion. It's so well constructed and filmed that none of the other Star Wars movies have been able to get even remotely close to that level. The feeling of the difference in their power is so evident in every shot, the way they make Vader look like he's towering over Luke in so many of the shots just gives the whole scene another layer of drama. The crazy thing is, it's not even like it's an amazingly choreographed fight or anything, just the cinematography is so well done that it's more like reading a book and letting your imagination run wild and fill in the gaps.
Each shot is like a beautiful painting with perfect composition. 🔥
I had a large poster as a kid of Vader reaching out to Luke in that scene. An unforgettable image.
There was no sound during that part of this reaction video!
I still see it, but couldn't hear it!
I was so pissed!
Anyone else have that problem?
@@kylaarmstrong-benjamin8066 yes! He might have done that for copyright reasons.
I agree with you its a great scene. But what makes the lightsaber fight work, is that they are using it as a traditional sword, such as hacking and slashing. In the heat of battle, all those dance moves so to speak go out the window. And I think that is why the prequels look too polished and too rehearsed. It doesn't feel real, it doesn't feel like survival. This scene without words let you know that Vader is physically imposing, and has the strength to fight you one handed. He let Luke know I'm just toying with you.
40:14 "You can't trust a black dude with good hair like that!" I'm so dead....🤣
Especially if he's drinking a Colt 45.

I just laughed out loud in my break room at this one

0:48 - "Screw you, Darth Vader. You smoked my boy, Luke Skywalker's, dad."
Me: **Squees like a girl** He still doesn't know!!
3:01 - Ya gotta be ready for it, G.
10:26 - You were making a comment so you missed it. Han said he was putting Luke into the tauntaun 'until I can get the shelter up.'
13:29 - Some of these details may not be as accurate since Disney started messing with the canon, but Luke was subjected to a bacta treatment. Bacta is a mix of chemical and fungal agents that is a major medical technology in the Star Wars galaxy. Though it can be applied topically for minor injuries (like Neosporin) it's mainly used like you see here. Immersion in a bacta tank causes accelerated physical responses to injury and can heal almost anything from severe burns and infections to gunshot wounds and broken limbs.
22:18 - Yes, it's because he's bald. It's not because of the hideous burns that cover over 90% of his body.
23:53 - Yoda was originally voiced by Frank Oz, the voice behind a fair number of Jim Henson's Muppets. The voice he uses for 'Hermit Yoda' is just a few degrees off of the voice he uses for Fozzie Bear.
31:15 - What Luke experienced in The Cave was a vision prompted by the heavy concentration of Dark Side energies inside. The vision was warning Luke that if he continued to allow himself to be driven by his anger, he would fall to the Dark Side just like Vader did.
31:55 - Remember, the Millennium Falcon is a smugglers vessel. One of the reasons it looks (and operates like) a piece of junk is that it's outfitted with some of the best black-market tech Han could get his hands on: tech that often wasn't designed to work together. Among the ship's upgrades is a greatly enhanced deflector system: one as powerful as that of a ship several times it's size.
46:23 - ruclips.net/video/jRB5YouHaYA/видео.html
49:20 - Your sound is still cutting out around the 50 minute mark. Unfortunately for this video, it was right at the most important part of the movie.
53:20 - Couldn't hear a sound from the movie or a word you said between the last time stamp and this one.
54:18 - Carbon Freezing is a technology used in the Star Wars galaxy to preserve produce, meats, and other products for transport across interstellar distances. Cloud City uses it to store Tibana Gas, it's main export, which is used to help focus and energize the shots from blaster weaponry. Although the technology theoretically could be used for cryogenic freezing, either it had never been tested or the equipment at Cloud City was not designed to be used on live creatures. That's why Vader tested it on Han first; to be sure that it would work on Luke.
Spot on! Excellent.
I assumed the sound cuts out to prevent copyright strike.
Arguably the most iconic twist in cinema history.
It's fun to watch children react to it.
First time I've seen anyone flat out deny it.
He said “Darth Vader don’t gotta touch you, he’ll take you out with a FaceTime” 😂
Lando is such a G, he spoke up to vader to try and save his friend and lived!! Yeah he did betray them but he had NO choice and trys his best to make sure they are looked after.
Biggest take away: Darth Vader is just a bald dude who needs an inhaler, and to pick up bowling for a hobby. 💯
Your reactions are absolutely priceless! I’m 68 & loved the Star War movies when they first came out. Watching them again through your eyes has me walking down memory lane & laughing out loud!
When Leia tells Han that she loves him, originally in the script Han said I love you too. Harrison Ford fought it because he did not think it fit the character of Han (which I agree), so they changed the dialogue to "I know" which IMO is perfect for the character..
it also fits because the last thing he wants to do is make Leia hurt more, just in case the Carbonite bath killed him.
@@UltimateGamerCC dude finally. So glad someone agrees with me. I've been saying this since 1980, and it was my first thought.
If he dies with those as his last words, she's crushed and mourning forever. By saying "I know", you're bringing her as much comfort as you possibly can in that moment. It's the most selfless thing he could do.
It just happens to have the side effect of looking like a badass, but that's Han for ya.
ICONIC MOVIE LINE. Right up there with "Here's lookin' at you, kid."
didn't Harrison even improvise that line? after "i love you too" didn't sound right on the next shot he unprompted said "I know" instead and they kept it as they all thought it fit Han better.
It's a shame he hated the character and wanted him to stay dead after Empire.
“OG-Walkanobie” lmfao love you, Leo
This is the first film I remember seeing in the cinema, I had just turned 5, my older brother was 9 and my parents took us and my oldest brother to see this as part of my older brother’s birthday celebrations…I don’t remember much of watching the film (being a 5 year old girl, it probably wasn’t of much interest to me) but I remember arriving in the theatre and being in awe of red velvet chairs, warm creamy gold walls (though thinking about it, it was probably just that they were nicotine stained) and the red velvet curtains trimmed in gold silk, cinema’s were very beautiful places back then and far more theatre like than the modern ones…I suppose that’s to be expected, seeing as how back then most of the cinemas had been built before 1939 (in the U.K. anyway) and had no doubt been designed by people who grew up before cinema was really a thing.
I was 5 too🙌. What I remember is the opening crawl, very loud and then….. my father carrying me out😂 I had fallen asleep 😳. There is only 1 other time I fell asleep during a Star Wars movie (after countless watches), but let’s keep this fun and not talk about the sequels 😉
You know the reaction to Vader being Luke's father is genuine because of denial. Asking people, that originally saw it when it came out, how they reacted, a lot of them said they didn't believe Vader, they thought Vader was lying to Luke.
Yes, so many of us thought it was a trick.
Yeah that’s the reason they had yoda clarify in episode 6, many believed Vader was lying
Yup, me too. I was so sure that Vader was lying. I mean how can you trust someone so evil to tell the truth, right?
My favorite movie of all time. It is difficult to find someone in this day and age that doesn't know the big reveal at the end, so I enjoyed your genuine reaction to it.
Back when you stood in line to see a movie. Star Wars was so big. When Empire Strikes Back came out it was huge. My dad and I went to see it at a local mall theater that had 3 screens. They had all 3 playing ESB. We waited in a line that stretched all through the mall and outside. We waited 3 hours in line to get in. Packed theaters nationwide. I am not sure there was ever another movie release like it. This was decades before all of the mega sized theaters, much less instant download releases. A movie ticket when i was a kid was like 6 bucks. You could eat, see the movie, hit the arcade on a 20 dollar bill for all day fun!!! Now?? To all of us that grew up during this period. We were lucky
I missed out on that kind of experience. Now every time I go to the cinema with my dad he always makes a point of telling me what it was like back when he was a child.
I didn't wait in line at all for the first movie, since the critics had said it sucked .. 🤔🤣
I was a youngster in a line like the one you described... the mall theater... line through and out of the mall! There was only one other movie craze at the theater like it that I can remember (EVERY Lord of the Rings movie) but it was slightly different. That was a new era of movie theater... so agree'd on your point of mega sized theaters. But MAN these were the days!!
I still remember walking out of the theater after the first screening. Folks in line asking questions, I just told them that they had to wait to see it for themselves.
Then we waited for a couple more years to see how it all worked out. Those were the days.
My town had a single screen and the line went around the block.
Bummer about the audio missing for the biggest moments near the end of the film. Seems like in the comments people were hearing it for a time. Not sure if it was censored for music copyright or to avoid spoilers during the big twist reveal moments.
Avoid spoilers from a 41 y/o movie? Lol
THAT is why The Empire Strikes Back is the best of all in this saga!! From start to end, a roller-coaster of a good time. Big battle on Hoth, Han and the gang being pursued by Darth and the boys, and finally Luke loosing a hand AND finding out who his daddy is! The asteroid scene alone, sold me on the flick. Keep going, Mr. Video! Return of the Jedi, is your next stop.
"Darth Vader can FaceTime you and take you OUT!" 😂 lol you right!

A lot of people didn’t believe back in the day. I still remember reading a newspaper article before the release of ROTJ mentioning finding out if Vader was telling the truth or not was one of the big draws to the 3rd movie.

Just two minutes in, and the Rebels are confused with the Empire, the movie's title is misremembered, and Obi-Wan is called OG Wakanobi.
This is where the fun begins.
OG Wakanobi? Sounds like the most Gansta Yakuza Boss in the entire galaxy.😂
And that's why most of us insisted that you start with Episode IV, V and VI, because of that big reveal. When this first came out in 1980, that line Vader said was one of the biggest plot twists in cinema history. Had you started with the prequel trilogy (I, II and III), which came out in the late 90's, the shock value would have been spoiled. Glad we got to see your reaction!
Also, the correct order starts with 4 anyway. This is all Luke's story anyway.
It is the Luke, Leia, Han saga. Prequels are prequels.

LIVING for this series! “Don’t take it so personal” killed me, the Skywalker family needs you in their ear to calm them down.
The twist at the end is one of cinema's best. It was a game changer at the time. Just like these films. I love seeing someone totally foreign to Star Wars and see them fall in love with the films. Star Wars is a deep mine if you really want to dig. It's goes way beyond a mere 11 films. Thanks man, for letting us see this movie through your eyes. Keep up the good work. I'll see you when you bring Return of the Jedi. Also, Lando is different. He's the smoothest man in the galaxy. Intergalacticly known. Also also, Mark Hamill (Luke) has played his share of villains. He was Chucky in the Child's Play remake and he is the best Joker in animated form, he's done the job for over 20 years. He's probably the best Joker there is and we've had some great ones. Later brother.
I am 50 now and I remember being 9 years old going to see this with my brother who was 12 at the time. My mom dropped us off at the theater to watch this. We were both star wars nuts and was so excited. I remember so clear when the lights dimmed and this intro came on. It was so loud and I felt like I was about to be blasted to the moon with excitement. Digging in to the hot buttered popcorn, red vine licorice with both ends bit off and used it as a straw for my coke. Crazy a little over 40 years and that was a flashback like it was yesterday.
I'm slightly older. I love that you mentioned the Red Vines used as straws. I haven't thought about that in a long time. Remember now, no drinking soda, after eating Pop Rocks. I'll now go reminisce about my Tetherball skill and my beloved Big Wheel.😊♡
Saw it when I was 8 at the theater, and those drones still creep me out. That noise they make is so off putting its perfect. The sound effects are what bring it home for me and elevate this franchise.
Love love using red vines as a straw!!
I don't even have that memory and yours felt like my own. Thanks
I know I saw this in the theater, or maybe even a drive in since it was 1980, I was almost 5. I only remember the walkers, maybe the ice cave monster. My mother made me go visit my bio father who was a stranger to me, in another state for a month. He was very into sci fi and fantasy. That month was very traumatizing for me.
Interesting fact in case no one else has mentioned it. During that scene in Hoth where he was hanging in the cave after he was captured by the white monster, you said he looked beat up. The scars on Luke's face were real. Mark Hamill was in a serious accident before they filmed that movie.
...a year and a half earlier.
Yeah, they had to do a lot of reconstructive surgery to his face after the car accident too. If you compare Luke's face from the last film to this one, he looks really different.

Here is some trivia for you. Mark Hamill had been in a near fatal car accident in January 1977 before the 1st movie "A New Hope" even hit the theaters, the damage to his face was severe and changed it's basic structure and left permanent scaring, they had to take cartilage from his ear to repair his nose. On the planet Hoth they used that 1st scene with the Wampa attack to explain why his face looked so different from the 1st movie.
Speaking to Gossip Magazine in 1978 for the release of "Corvette Summer," which was released between "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back," Hamill spoke about the accident.
"What happened was that I was on the wrong freeway," Hamill said. "I was way out in the sticks somewhere and there were no cars and no traffic, thank God. I was going about 65-70 mph... I was speeding, going too fast... and what happened, I think, was that I tried to negotiate an off-ramp and lost control, tumbled over, and went off the road. I fractured my nose and my cheek."

That was my favorite arcade game. Empire’s strikes back you got to fly the mission against the giant walkers. You shot the cable, then when they are down, you shoot the exposed neck and boom.
The craziest thing about the Vader twist is that ,up until the release of the movie , outside of George Lucas(along with a few key members of his writting and editing staff), Mark Hamill and James Earl Jones ( the voice of Vader); NOBODY knew about it!
George Lucas even went out of his way to print fake versions of the script for the actors that had Vader say: "Obi-wan killed your father" .
This was also given to Hamill himself , who was only told the real twist minutes before the shooting of the scene, making his reaction somewhat genuine.
Hamill was then forced to keep it a secret until the premiere, at which point Harrison Ford turned to him while they were STILL in the theatre and said : "Hey ,kid, you never told ME that..."
Something Hamill has made fun of MERCILESSLY in interviews LMAO
Bonus fun fact:
The scene with Luke and Yoda was done with Hamill and the voice of Yoda not even being in the same room.
Meaning Hamill had to do that scene with JUST the puppet and the script
TOP NOTCH ACTING!
Yeah but you have to admit, a far bigger surprise was when Dark Helmet says, "I Am Your Father's Brother's Nephew's Cousin's Former Roommate!"
James Earl Jones initially didn’t believe it either when he first read the script
"Vader, go bowling or something" - made my day! :D

“the empire fights back” i love u brah🤣 u funny when u not even trying keep on doing ya thang g👍🏽
Leo said, "He split that animal's guts open to keep Luke warm." Pretty funny, Leo! And that tauntaun was DEAD, not passed out. LOL. Han said he was just sticking Luke in there to keep him warm while he built the shelter. So they must've had some kinda tent to keep warm for the night.
Mark Hammil was in a serious car accident before this film and needed plastic surgery on his face which is why he looks different and why they wrote the wampa scene from the start to explain it.
You have chosen....wisely. Got your order right
when the audio went out i was like "NOooOooOOoooooOOOOo"
"He can breathe under water too?"
R2 - a robot: ....
I'm just amazed Leo managed to avoid the Darth Vader spoiler at the end of the movie for decades, it's the kind of thing that even non Star Wars fans know. The surprise makes it so much better.
You mean dark Vader...
@@j.garcia6206 no it's Darth Vader. Are you joking?
Why is that part silent in the video? I tried it on my Xbox and phone. Of all the scenes...
@@meatball5336 It worked fine before but youtube has a copyright content filter that processes videos and automatically mutes parts it thinks might be violating copyright rules. This takes a while to kick in so initially you'll hear the sound fine after it's first uploaded then days later it will be muted. It sucks.
@@mistert800 Oooh ok. I was wondering why others heard it but I didn't. That explains it. I appreciate the explanation. 👍
Every second of this movie and this reaction are gold
The best scene "No, I am your father" Always have goosebump to that scene
"Darth Vader need to get a damn inhaler or something..." lolololol
I’m a big Star Wars fan and seeing your reactions just puts a smile on my face
I hope you enjoyed that my young Jedi. I saw it in 1980 with my girlfriend (now my wife of 40+ years). Yes Vader IS Lukes father, many more twists to come. In my day for about $30 we would get a dime bag of weed, go to the movie WITH snacks and have a little left foe McDonalds after the movie. AHHH good times...
I WILL NOT give you any spoilers, just watch them in release order and enjoy.
Seeing someone enjoy this movie for the first time like this makes my heart so happy.
This was great dude haha. Your reactions are priceless. Especially to classics like this.
Leo, this is one of the best reactions I’ve seen to this movie. I’m saving this one. Your remarks on Lando had me howling.
THE BEST STAR WARS MOVIE
One of my least favorite ones
@@lukerose384 really? I have never heard a Star Wars fan say that about ESB
Star Wars (aka New Hope) and Empire are honestly the only two really good Star Wars movies. Empire being the superior.
On the visual effects in case it hasnt been noted, for Leo: George and his team had to invent the efftects. The ships are hand made models. They founded a company called ILM (industrial light and magic) and its still a top effects company in the industry. Execs and engineers went on to start an entire family tree of companies that with many of them being household names (Adobe is one).
It's absolutely bonkers that one film started all of that.
I wish they had left in a deleted scene when the group escapes the storm troopers at the beginning. One of the doorways was blocked off because one of those yeti-with-horns wampas had broken in. C-3P0 tore a warning off the door, cue some storm troopers opening the door looking for good guys... HUGE white claw reaches out and drags a trooper inside.
The scene in the cave was an illusion created by the dark side of the Force. Yoda told to go in there because it was a test. He was supposed to face Vader without fear and anger.
That illusion of Vader wouldn't have hurt Luke, despite how real it looked. But Luke failed the test.
Imagine if Luke stopped and asked "Vader" questions, he could've had a whole-ass conversation with his shadow.
