I just want to know where native ARA support on Apple Silicon is? It's been 3-4 years of taking forever to use Melodyne and I hate it. And Rosetta sucks too.

I suspect it’s a deeper issue in the way the M chips work. I’m no computer expert but I imagine if it was a doable fix it would have been done already.
      It is frustrating for sure.

I don't know unfortunately. I feel like Melodyne ARA has always been a bit shakey on Logic for some reason. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the business relationship between Celemony and Avid or like Peter mentioned if it is just an inherent issue with ARA's compatibility with Apple Silicon. But it is a real shame.

@@sangstersoundsI did a bit of exploring to see what issues Apple silicon may be causing and found these points after searching using the Perplexity AI search app …
“Communication Method in Apple Silicon Architecture
      1. Sandboxing and Isolation:
In Apple Silicon Macs, there's a stricter separation between the host application (like Logic Pro) and plugins.
This is part of Apple's enhanced security model, where processes run in more isolated environments.
      2. Inter-Process Communication (IPC):
ARA requires deep integration and real-time communication between the host DAW and the plugin.
On Intel-based systems, this communication was more direct.
With Apple Silicon, the communication needs to happen across process boundaries, which is more complex.
      3. Shared Memory Access:
ARA often relies on shared memory access for efficient data exchange between the host and plugin.
The new architecture may restrict or change how this shared memory access works, requiring new implementation methods.
      4. API Compatibility:
The APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) used for ARA communication may need to be updated or reimplemented to work efficiently within the Apple Silicon architecture.
      5. Performance Considerations:
The new communication method needs to maintain the low-latency, high-performance requirements of audio processing.
Any additional overhead in the communication process could impact real-time audio performance.
      6. Security and Permissions:
The stricter security model of Apple Silicon may require new ways of handling permissions for plugins to access and modify audio data.”
I think what I glean from all that is that it is considerably more difficult to implement ARA on Apple silicon and would need a high level of cooperation between the companies and perhaps some major changes in the programs OR with the permissions required it might be all but impossible.
As I mentioned earlier I’m no computer expert but it does seem to me to be a direct compatibility issue in how ARA works and how Apple silicon works.

Wow! Awesome info. Thanks so much for sharing. It definitely seems like a compatibility issue. I also think the “increased security” protocols from Apple with Apple silicon is causing issues for lots of third party developers. Hopefully with time these issues will be sorted but with the rate of change in technology who knows…
