In this video, I will explain 4 main reasons as to why I felt like this season of Rainbow High wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be. Again, no hate to the writers!

The worst part for me was probably the way that both the Storm Twins and the Devious Twins characters' were dumbed down for the sake of the plot with the whole 'sabatoge arc'. I loved the creepy expressions, since it gave the Storm Twins a more Creepypasta-esque feel, and I love aestheticly creepy stuff like that, bit it gave neither set of twins any decent character development and I wish that them and their rivaley could have been more fleshed out. At the beginning, they both showed decent leadership skills and intelligence over their peers, but I hated seeing their characters just devolve into petty and almost idiotic sabatoge like that, especially since I fell in love with the Storm Twins' character designs right when I first saw them, and characters with such beautiful and unique designs deserve better writing in my opinion. And the arguments between both sets of twins could have been better if it had addressed the actual lore and backstory behind their rivalry alot more than just mentioning Twin Con. The Storm Twins were actually on an in-universe TV show called 'Wonder Models', as hinted at in Naomi's character bio, and with the Devious Twins being acting focuses, that could have played into the rivalry in a cohesive way as well. And the plot overall went on for way too long in my opinion.
Yeah I found it weird how the Storm twins showed their capabilities for good sabotaging in the beginning of the season but later their sabotages were dumbed down for plot. The cut thing was so dumb. I know they could have thought of better but the writers just didn't want that for them by the end of the season.
I wish they would’ve explored more of sunny and Lunas relationship and I don’t like how river broke up with Amaya for literally no reason she nothing wrong and I don’t like the way meline and ayesha did Sabrina again she did nothing wrong
Yeah River was a jerk, did he even ever apologize to Amaya? He probably did but it was prob a weak apology which is why it isn’t memorable to me
@@noneyabuisness6461 no I think he was going to but Amaya ignored him the closest we got to river and Amaya making up was when the auditorium had to be air out and they hugged each other but immediately after they were never seen together again
Exactly what I was saying to my sister. Especially the part about Luna and Sunny; why add tension like that and only make them interact like 2 times? It was just unnecessary build-up.
I agree with everything, but the Meline and Ayesha thing is probably because it’s just their character. Sabrina did mention they’ve kicked out like 7 other divas before her.
I wish that they would have fucused more on Pacific Coast and given them second outfits because why were they running around in their bathing suit the whole time?
Their dolls also disappointed me from it only being their swimwear😭
I felt like we got no real resolution between Ainsley and Avery (and Aiden) over Ainsley leaving for Shadow High. They just glossed over that and in the end Avery just was like "Okay, it is what it is, we'll miss you."

I hated how all of the shots of the auditorium with the cheering sounds during the competition scenes, LOOKED COMPLEATLY EMPTY!! eventho, as we just learned there are 60 CHARACTERS they could have used to fill at least a single shot of the crowd, like only sunny, Jade & Ruby were watching lol
“ Too many characters” finally someone said it, I couldn’t enjoy this season because there where to many characters I would really love to get to know the people who preformed But I feel like the writers are trying to hide some of the characters and replace with new ones, it feels like it’s messed up. Good thing is yeah they don’t always show the main 6/7 girls but still maybe they went too far with the characters?
Yes, it would be nice if they make each season about their origins, instead of introducing them all at once.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one confused by rainbow vision… I was so confused by how like the hosts were like voting on who should be the hosts? Anyway I just want season 4 to have seoul select so we can get more royal three dolls, they are phenomenal!!!
Also…why was Rainbow Vision _in_ Rainbow High? Wasn’t it hosted in Shadow High?😭

I am going to be straight up honest here, I think MGA Entertainment’s doll media is actually pretty weak, especially when you compare it to Mattel’s doll media. I would say most of the early Barbie movies still hold up(despite the aged animation)in terms of writing. Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse is still comedy gold, and I even find that the My Scene webisodes/movies have a chill, nice vibe to its’ media.
Even though I love the Bratz characters and find the cartoon/movies entertaining, they were never really well written or of true quality(the music still slaps, though).
I believe a big reason both Monster High and Ever After High were successful was how character-based the cartoon/movies were and how well written they were, as well as the dolls(thanks to the diaries they came with, creating a connection with the consumer rather than just simply being a pretty doll). Another thing was that they never tried to fit in too many characters in one go, they had balance when it came to screen time(having webisodes focus on individual characters or a small group of them, or switching in and out characters in their movies instead of trying to give all of them spotlight together).
This is where I feel Rainbow High fails at. Although the designs are good and the dolls are of high quality, the show has never really gone deep into who these characters are, it is all very surface level and shallow with no fleshed out characterizations/personalities. You could argue that it does not need to be anything deep or serious(this show is meant to market fashion dolls, after all). But MH and EAH definitely set a high bar for doll media, creating complex characters and storylines viewers can truly relate to, something to truly say beyond “Buy our toys!”(Which was the case for toy lines back then, especially the 80s, but not good enough anymore for a modern toy line).
I think Rainbow Vision should have been a movie, maybe RH’s first special to create hype and interest to engage the audience, rather than prolonging the story over all these past few months. It is clear the Rainbow High cartoon does not know what it wants to be or what direction it wants to go in. The characters are all just there, lumped in together with no true purpose. Even now, the doll line is still releasing new characters, but I have seen fans already complaining that it is too much and that they want to see more development first in the established cast. Only time will tell if they really improve in the future.

This season was all over the place. It lost it’s story line and was super confusing. The music was great but we all knew that the k pop group was going to win. They didn’t give anyone a chance. I thought the Kingsley boys were the best tbh. I feel like it was more about introducing new characters and dolls and pushing the products then anything. I feel like I haven’t liked these new characters as much cause we don’t see them grow as characters. That’s why I fell in love with rainbow high to begin with. I have a huge attachment to series 1 core girls cause we have got to know them the most. Just my personal opinion.
In my opinion it completely stopped focusing on the mane characters in season 3 it was all so random and there were just loads of characters we have never seen or heard of that just randomly are like yup we are here and it felt like there was just a camera moving around a school and you get little snippets of people doing stuff
At this point they are so close to being actual animated doll commercials. Too many characters introduced and contributing very little to the mediocre storyline they got going on. Very disappointing for those who just watch the cartoon and don’t actually buy the dolls.
It felt like the writers were just coming up with stuff of the spot and I miss the main girls sm 🥺
I'm agree with you. I was very hyped by the first webisodes about Shadow High and the Rainbow vision competition until this episode with the workshops. I understand the series needed a little breath before the REAL competition. But then the You Tube channel really taked its time to post the webisodes and - like you said - people were more interested by Monster High new contents than the Rainbow Vision.
I liked the Rainbow Vision episodes but for the finals, I wasn't involved anymore (expect for the drama with Sabrina which I exepected the end we had)... And Wenesday, when the final webisode came out inexplicably, I thought I had a hallucination watching it: The Royal Three's performance looked so weird to me, they won the competion... just like that and many subplots weren't resolved well (aka Sunny and Luna's rivality) while some were good (the A's, Sabrina). The twins war was enjoying as Amaya and River break up... was just stupid. (Gurl, this man had break with you just because he had a bad day and you're go back to him like that? You've right to be angry after him! Keep on hit him with your fashion boots!!!)
I think this Season 3 just during too long in order to keep the hype...
I think they need to make their episodes longer.

Unofficial 5th reason, but by me: No bronze medal showdown before Royal Three. BTW, it would have been between Meena Fleur (with a new song) and Sabrina St. Cloud (My Heart Wants To Be A Star). After in the case no matter who wins or ties, Royal Three sing 'Spotlight' (in English with Korean). After that you decide the winner.
1. Outcome one: Royal Three wins, next Rainbow Vision is held Seoul Select, with the playoffs/finals in both Seoul Select and either South Korea's national stadium, or the real life KBS TV studios.
2. Or...Neon Shadow wins and Heather Grayson gets super happy and hugs the band in triumph.

I feel like the show is a dud. It had so much potential they set up so many pieces it’s almost like the beginning of each story/ plot line was written by someone else completely and then finished off by other people. Like something isn’t right and maybe in the future we’ll find out why. But I have a feeling there had to be production issues because nothing seems to add up or finish or even make sense. It’s actually why I get confused when people are so heavily into the RH brand and not just the dolls because the rest of the brand seems to lack so much depth. Like we haven’t seen anything from ANY of the characters lmfao it’s so ambiguous
I wish the Costume Ball with the characters special longer because Eliza was my favorite doll and now they dissapear poof and they're gone
I would of rather waited on rainbow vision, and isntead taken episodes that lead up to it, like keeping shadow high calling out the bias, and then the rest is setting up for this so called big competition. Then it would of let us see more time to:
- learn about Sunny and Madison's relationship
- why Rainbow Vision is a big deal and flesh out why it was weird rainbow high hosted and won continuously
- all the pre planning of rainbow vision way before the actual event like the chosing of hosts, actual judges, ect things like that to raise up tension between schools
- getting to learn about the literal series 4 dolls. Which where completely pushed aside.
- we'd then get to see more development of why Ainsley left then just she's struggling in one episode. We'd see she's more into the way shadow high functions and it's aesthetic, and get why she transferred.

For me, RV is a great storyline but they rushed it. If only they just used season 3 for Pacific coast high télé reality show and discovering some RH celebrities then season 4 for the fight between Shadow High and Rainbow High students and FINALLY Season 5 being Rainbow Vision it would have been amazing

Well I use to watch rainbow high everytime but when rainbow vision came I stopped watching the show because it was boreding to watch it
I think that season 2 was kinda awkward I fell out of focus on the series but season 3 I kinda got back into it

I think a lot of people are mistaking pacing issues with hiatus which are not the same thing. If they didn't had a hiatus the flow of the season is actually quite ok, maybe a bit slow in the begining but not bad. The hiatus were probably due to some issue with the animation studio or tight schedules which happen in a lot of productions, specially outsourced ones. Being a professional animator I know how stressful bigger productions can be and the more characters and musical scenes you have to animate the longer it takes to finish (the first season for example was way more simple with only the main 7 girls appearing for most of the episodes).
Rainbow High is a simple series writting wise but I do think it got better with this season. It obviously doesn't have Mattel's writting quality for the early years of Monster High, much less the really good writting quality of Ever After High but it's fine for a kids brand. Most of the musics were actually quite good and some of them could have been real songs.

I agree that the pacing could have been better once the competition started. There were too many new characters and little time devoted to giving them equal focus. For example, Mila Berrymore (burgundy) and Lila Yamamoto barely got enough screen time or speaking roles compared to Coco and Delilah. And what's with that scene of Ash and Nicole trying to break down a door? Were they locked in by the De'Vious twins? Or were they trying to get the Storm twins out? I agree that we should have gotten 2-3 episodes devoted to Bella and her classmates going to PCH and getting to know those new characters. Then we could see a blooming romance between Gab and Finn. Then transition to Shadow High and the competition. Perhaps this time, shove the original 6 characters into the background and give them a few speaking roles, but let the newer characters shine: for example let Mila do the reporting on Rainbow Vision, let Lila Yamamoto working on the art design, let Jewel be in charge of their costumes, etc. Even give some of the other Shadow High students more involvement. Let us see Luna giving Sunny the cold shoulders and Sunny feeling bummed about it. Overall, I still love season 3, but it could have been better executed.
I was kinda shocked The Royal Three won when we didn’t even see them perform their song until the last episode, where they won in the end either way! I thought we were voting based on who’s performance we liked more and a lot of the last 3 finalists performance played when the voting was over!

I didn't like the royal three song, but I loved neon shadow! I was disappointed. I kinda hoped that they make a series for pacific cost, and the other schools like a transfer for sunny to Korea or Japan

Luna also calls Sunny her “evil twin.” It’s just them having opposing personalities and not understanding one another. I do feel they should have done more with them.
Ainsley transferring schools to better pursue her art is actually a really valid thing. Throughout season 2 we saw her cracking and crumbling and it was clear Rainbow High was no longer the place for her. Some artists move across the world to find a better fit, Ainsley is just going across the street. And as for the public announcement, the Storm twins forced her into it for dramatic effect.
As far as the series 4 characters go, I do think Delilah and Coco were necessary to the story, as we didn’t have a creative writing or an agent character introduced yet. Meena is my third choice as she was actually a competitor. But I agree that we didn’t need to introduce the other three.
I think it was cute that each of the Madison twins think the other is evil.
And honestly, knowing Rainbow High these side stories are never gonna be seen again🥲. I don’t think Ainsley’s reasoning was ‘dumb’. Tbh as someone in an art school it totally makes sense
I’m hoping that they continue some of the side stories next season bc if it’s one thing I hate it’s how a story is started but never finished. Also I also was mad confused with the Rainbow Vision plot bc there was so much going on but yet they explained so little and that kinda upset me. There was so much potential for the season and it was wasted. So if anything they next season they should go into the backgrounds of characters.
I was also mad confused about the amount contestants that were there bc each had like 5 contestants and then like 3 from rainbow high made it to the semifinals. I was hoping they would do like
15 -> 10 -> 7 -> 5 -> 3
( For the amount of contestants )
then the winner… I think it would’ve been cool if the winners gave an extra performance to celebrate their win or somethin.
The voting really seemed out of place too. Bc ppl are more likely to vote for their school. But if you think about it seems like there were a lot of celebs competing like, The Royal Three or The Kingsley Boys. So it’s more likely they would get the higher vote. And the fact the eliminated rainbow high for a last minute change is crazy. I personally think it should’ve been that as long as that band or person performs they should be able to compete. Ex ( Sabrina performing for the Divas last minute, even though she is performing alone she is still performing for their band )

I have a few thoughts i want to pitch in
personally, I hc the maddison twins as having them being evil twins of each other as a little inside joke that maybe soured a little as they went to different schools.
Also, the tiny cut wasn't the storm twins intention, the fabric was just too well made or something (and this is cannon) for them to do worse, and thats why they instead stirred up drama that lead to Sabrina being kicked out
And why was Ramona Barnes a judge? And why did we never see anything about Shadow High's headmistress?

I actually agree with all of this. But what set me off the most was when Ainsley left for Shadow High.
It was completely out of the blue and it was for a really dumb reason.
Like in the end where they all made up and said that they “didn’t work well together in the same place” or whatever.
I immediately thought BS cause during the whole series. The A’s only fought once, just one time and it was between Ainsley and Avery.
Ainsley leaving Rainbow High just made no sense to me.
To clear the elephant in the room, WHY DIDNT LUNA AND SUNNY GET AN EPISODE TO TALK TO EACH OTHER?! It failed me and pissed me the hell off. Girl Sabrina, Rainbow Divas, and Glitch carried this season with Avery dealing with the stress. Idk personally the Royal Three’s song didn’t click for me except the third verse which both SH and RH forgets. Plus we should’ve been on season 4 for gods sake I wanted to see everyone’s costume and see an actual costume ball
I don’t know. I really wanted to see them interact or find out more of a reason why Luna decided to go to Shadow High
MGA just bought an animation studio maybe they’ll hire better writers now

They bought the animation studio that did the Rainbow High and their other brands animations so the studio could focus on only their shows.
Actually, I rewatched the series and it said that the Host Competitions only were held at the Shadow High.
Yet the hallways were rainbow high. Should have changed it throughout the season. Hugest animation error ever.
@@princessseraphina8990 It wasn’t an animation error. The HOST COMPETITION was held at Shadow High. The actual Rainbow Vision competition was still held at Rainbow High, as it is their event.
Have you noticed, that all characters who performed in Rainbow Vision sang songs about themselves? Like, are there really no other topics to write songs about? It is sad to think, that it may be because of the current hype for individualism. Or - let's be honest - egocentrism.

I think they should have focused on one thing only instead on taking lots of unnecessary junk and putting it into one season.

I love this season, but yeah, It got some problems
I have speculation that the writers actually HAD plans. They had plans to explore all the side stories they had for the season but the producers seemed to focus more on the introduction of the new dolls. The last good introduction for the new line was Mila Berrymore but she wasn't even explored enough even though there could have been a plotline about her photos. Then they had to promote the Neon Shadow band, the Kpop dolls, the Halloween special dolls, etc and that's where it ultimately fell for me. It honestly seemed like the writers didn't have a choice. Heck, they probably skipped the Gabriela and Finn story was because Finn's doll got discontinued along with the rest of Pacific Coast High.
At this point, MGA should just focus on creating full movies, cut them into episodes for an entire season, and just let audiences buy their dolls anyway. Mattel with Barbie at least had THAT confidence in their brand
What a shame that this would've been epic like the L.O.L OMG Remix line. A doll line based on pop culture and celebrities references is a potential idea but the mess up storyline and the delay of new episodes make it such a flop

There are several things for this season that I wish they would have done like
I wish they would do more pacific high episodes cuz the first episode kind of got me like oh I want to see the next episode but there's really only one episode.
2). Explored more into sunny and Luna's relationship because we know that they're twins and we've never seen them together except one time and they were actually even together
3). Have the rainbow divas say fuck you to Sabrina Sabrina is the most talented diva and I feel like the other two shoved her aside and that's not right.
They can go back to Pacific Coast and finish that storyline out
