I certainly agree with 'downfall' in the title. When this show first started, it was happy and fun, and sent positive messages. It's so negative now. It's all about rivalries, everyone arguing and don't even get me started on the way the girls are always against each other now. That's not the girls I started off watching! I don't even recognize these characters anymore. What a shame for a show that started off so much fun to end up like this, because I've checked out the most recent episodes and it's not even like show I remember anymore.
Honestly, Pacific Coast should have been the first half of the season; then, the second half should have been focused on the prep for Raindow Vision and the school rivalry. Rainbow Vision itself should have been a longer season that tied in plots from last one to make it sound. Like have Fin and Gabrielle's relationship, the rivalry, Ainsely’s transfer, River and Amaya’s breakup, and Sunny and Luna’s sibling plot in one season and leave just enough loose ends to wrap up the important plot in the next to give it more tension. As for Rainbow Vision, they need to give it more time and more fighting between competitors. These plots are built on rivalries, so have some acts have beef with another to create drama. Make the Divas and Neon Shadow aware of the twins cheating and have that be a source of conflict to raise the stakes! This could have been great if they just gave it some breathing room.
I think what really destroyed Rainbow High was that a lot of new and unnecessary characters were introduced. We didn't get to know the second judge. People are disappointed about the Royal Three winning. There are too many dolls coming out at the same time! The negativity between Rainbow High and Shadow High was a bit too far. Luna and Sunny/Ayesha and Robin could've talked to each other to resolve the problem. The most boring thing about the finals is that all three finalist groups were trios and that a school we know NOTHING ABOUT won. Episode 14 was good with The Assistant trying to get both pairs of twins to work together, that's the only piece of sabotaging that I actually enjoy. (Headcanoning that the assistant is a plot twist villain) The alliance was so good but I lost it when it separated so quickly. Honestly, if this was a movie this whole thing would've had more suspense and would've been more intriguing.
When they first had their web series up I truly thought it was going to be an actual like 20-25 minute long show. When they announced it'll be on Netflix I thought that was going to be the actual show but only to find out it's just the web series. I do wish the episodes were longer..
My problem with s3 is how messy the story is. S1, we focused on our OG girls and the runway project was the whole story arc of the season, with few mini storylines but still sticking to the core. S2 we have new characters and our OG girls are not seen together much. There wasn't a big season story arc but at least we still have our OG girls. S3, they just go wherever they want, whoever they want and then it leads to so many storylines that leave out a full arc. Rainbowvision was clearly the main arc but.... it was mostly performances, not much story. And when they did focus on the new characters, our OG girls are gone. They couldn't close off all the storylines they opened up, like what happened to Harper? Are Gabriella and Finn a thing? Are amaya and river back? Sunny & luna? The long break didn't help too. S3 should have just focused on Pacific coast and shadow high. Someone suggested that the costume ball should have been the big final event and, yeah that would have been fine. Then focus on rainbowvision s4 introducing the band characters. Now with s3 having so many stuff, Idk what s4 will do that can top s3? All I can think of is them going around the world or aliens but man. I still like rainbow high regardless of this. I just hope s4 would be better.
I bought the Storm Twins dolls literally two weeks after they released at full price because I fell in love with their character designs ever since they were first shown in the show without knowing that their characterization would not measure up to those amazing designs. I feel like both the Storm Twins and the Devious Twins started out with decent leadership skills and characterization, but with the 'sabatoge arc', it felt like watching their built up characterization just devolve into petty, idiotic at times, sabatoge. It was also annoying that the full backstory behind the Storm Twins' and the Devious Twins' rivalry was never explained in the show beyond one mention of 'Twin Con'. The way Avery and Aiden treated Ainsley transfering to Shadow High was also a bit cruel in my opinion. The twist with the Assistant also made him look very sus, and a bit too morally questionable in my opinion (seriously, what kind of person finds evil twins doing sabatoge admirable or attractive?!). And Sunny and Luna should have interacted a lot more than they did, because compared to how the other Twins were treated, they didn't get nearly enough screentime.
I agree with these points. I feel nostalgic for the original characters. I do hope that the newer characters get cameos in the next season just because they weren't showcased enough. Maybe they could be featured in a Karma or Violet mini episode for their channels.
Well after a few episodes season 3 stopped focusing on the mane characters and wasn’t even about them anymore. Then it just was so messy and confusing because it was all over the place it felt like a camera just moving around and you got a glimpse of what every student is doing with no context if you know what I mean. I think season 3 was a mess
The show is awful imo. I know I’m not their main demographic as in im older, but it’s just so poorly written imo. And who cares about all there competitions? It’s the same old song and dance (no pun intended lol) over and over again.
My hot take: nobody wants to listen to soulless corporate pop, and basing an entire season around it was a bad idea. It's like they can't let go of this DNA the series has inherited from the pooping unicorns.
I didn't watch the animated series til season 3 and decided to tune in on some eps. I knew some of it felt off. It is night and day watching the earlier episodes and how straightforward they were. Honestly this just goes into the fact that they shouldve waited a bit to release the Rainbow Vision dolls. It would've been better for collectors AND the series imo.
Things started strong but I think will all the doll releases and so many plots thrown in and never finished really ruined it for the older fans who love the dolls as collectors. If kids can find joy in this season then that is good at least, but can anyone confirm if any kid liked this season beyond the catchy songs? I really feel so bad for Pacific Coast and everyone else in Shadow High who did not get any chance to shine as they should have. I will be positive here and hope that next season will go back to plot points in this season and cover them. I hope you have a great weekend and catch up on some quality content Peachy.
when I watched Rainbow High on RUclips (I first watched it on Netflix), I was shocked to see that the Colours Go Pow performance was a separate music video of its own and not part of an episode like the Netflix run. So the answer to your question concerning the music videos is yes. Yes, they could have scrapped the time for music performances. Another thing I would like to add to this point is that while most of the songs were shortened to fir the episode, 'Click Click@ had its whole run time in the episode. If they shortened the 'Click Click' performance, we could have had time dedicated to seeing Glitch get over her stage fright. If we want Shadow High to stay, we better start praying (or hoping if you are not from any religions) they have a separate show. That's what I've been doing.
Did it really fail it's sole purpose was to sell dolls. I hope they get rid of the whole music performances they take away from the storyline. It would be OK if episode is a half hour but each episode is only seven minutes.
Another thing is that they showed a lot of problematic content for a kid's show. 1. Why on earth do we have 2 sets of a lot of girls crushing on ONE GUY?! 2. Why are high school seniors (17 - 18 year-olds) crushing on freshmen (14 - 15-year-olds)?! As a 17 -18-year-old myself, I can say that those freshmen will look like babies to me. Absolutely NOTHING in common. That is a power imbalance waiting to happen. We already have enough media that glamourise relationships that are grooming. We did not need Rainbow High to join in. 3. River and Amaya. The older audience can infer from their staircase interaction that they did not get back together and were only worried about each other's health due to the fog incident. However, it's just as you said: if you don't look for the hints, you will not see them. The hint here is that after hugging, they shifted away from each other awkwardly. I'm not saying that children are dumb. rather they are very observant. If they see a girl who was mistreated by her boyfriend suddenly share a hug with said boyfriend, they will translate it as them getting back together. Most kids may interpret this as it is okay to just get back together with someone who hurt you. 4. We never see the 2 sets of twins pay for the bad thing they did. I also feel like they downplayed the severity of that fog sabotage. As someone who knows people with asthma and other respiratory people, I feel annoyed at how no one received punishment for creating such a health hazard (even if it was fictional). This is why we need more representation. They could have a character with respiratory problems and just show them in a little tidbit how they handle their condition. This can teach other kids to be considerate and help kids with respiratory issues feel seen. As someone whose interactions were significantly affected by what I watched and read, these types of inconsiderate tropes annoy me. People usually think that children's media should not take much effort because "kids are too dumb to care" but it's the other way around. Children are information sponges so if you show them something toxic, they will assimilate and internalise it. Therefore, more care should be taken for children-targeted scripts. Season 1 had a lot of moral lessons that were written in a very engaging way but season 3 was just a mess.
So many missed opportunities that was so disappointing with this season No interaction between Sunny and Luna No interaction with Robin Sterling with her sister either Who’s the head mistress of Shadow High? We never saw the main 6 SH students minus Natasha in their second outfit The masquerade costume episode was a big let down and failed our expectations How did the A’s make up so fast after the drama? Amaya and River breaking up was such a forced drama and out of place in this season Did Glitch ever reveal who she made a record deal with after turning down Coco? We also never had the chance to listen to Harper Dune’s full song 😂 So so many things left unexplained and definitely lots of plot holes in this season.
Glitch got a redesign in the show as well. She will most likely not have all of her awesome hair accessories and chains on the doll design, that is such a shame :/ And yes this whole season is a terrible mess! Maybe they switched a new director?
Season 3 isn't memorable. I have how the Twins fight and sabotage each others. Too bad we don't get more interaction between Sunny and Luna. We have also three pairs of twin to compare. Wished Rainbow High is more into slice-of-life instead of competitive drama. I want more interaction between Delilah and Sabrina. S3 need more episodes.
Despite owning many dolls, I have never watched the show and I feel unqualified to discuss this lol. I have been going off some of the lore I read from the wiki, and after watching this I realize somehow I have accidentally created a story 100x better than the real one haha. Also what speed are the clips in?
And I know it's not a problem more of a realization there are three sets of identical girls twins are the Kingsley boys bothers most of the boy at rainbow high the school look the same can't we a set of identical boy twins or have Shanelle Onyx and the other shadow high boy be the fraternal twins that would be cool
I think the whole RainbowVision arc should've been a musical movie or something that would be released after Season 3. We get songs, we know the characters of Pacific Coast, Shadow High, and Series 4 by now(If Season 3 wasn't all about the RainbowVision arc and instead focused on the students of each school. Also I feel Pacific Coast should've been introduced in Season 2 since that season felt pretty short with just 15 episodes I think), and we are introduced to the trio group of bands. I feel that would've been fine and we wouldn't get so many plot holes, lack of character development, and a season with no context whatsoever.
Anyway, with all the issues that exist in the season, SHOUT OUT TO Sabrina x Delilah (there are so many ship names). Not only are they the only arc that got respect and a conclusion, but they are also on the official album cover. As for as I'm confirmed, that means they're cannon.
At this point the show just isn't about fleshing out characters or having a proper story, it's solely just to sell dolls. Which I get is the point of the show anyway, but still disappointing to see :/

Rainbow-vision arc could’ve been a movie instead. Normally, when a doll line gets successful, animated movies follow soon after.
I think we should've gotten an episode 9f Pacific Coast every other week to show us what the girls did there and how Gabriella and Finn got together
That would have been better.
