I disagree. I believe that our (I'm presuming you are also a British national) national anthem should be about our reigning monarch. Our head of state. Our identity. Whilst I still believe that rule Britannia should remain a national treasure.
123MrHurbert Well contrary to popular belief, God Save the Queen is just a national tradition, it isn't an "official" national anthem. It has never been proclaimed the national anthem by an Act of Parliament or a Royal Proclamation. (I love that about us, we don't even have a constitution) I am personally in favour of having Rule, Britannia as our national anthem, and having God save the Queen as our royal anthem. It fits so perfectly.
Whilst I was confused as to which song England sang at the Commonwealth games, when Britain has been represented at sporting events, as little as I watch them, I recall them singing God save the Queen. Which, at least for me, is enough for it to be "official". On an unrelated, yet mentioned topic, our constitution. Or lack there of. Whilst those high treasoning yankees across the pond don't take theirs in the highest respect, the lack of base rules we have is frightening. In fact, this is probably the last nail in the coffin for me not voting UKIP is that the European court of human rights is to thank for the right to protest in this country. By leaving the EU, there is no obligation for the Supreme court to for fill that right. Therefore, I wish we did have some base-level rules like those in a constitution to reassure basic, civilised society human rights. Although i do love the way that, "…Royal proclamation…" sounds.
123MrHurbert As British myself, I believe a national anthem should be for the people, not a symbol of one person. I'm not a royalist so God Save The Queen to me isn't a theme for the people.
I hope the British will not give up this glorious march to some (woke) thugs. Our Empires may have fought in the past but i still enjoy this brilliant march, I wish peace, prosperity and best to both our peoples. Greetings from Turkey! 🇹🇷🇬🇧

@@hoops51formerlyayyitsjj27He's right though. Our entire system of government and way of life was built by and upon the British monarchy and by extent, the UK.
