Young Homeless Girl in Toronto Hit by a Train a Few Years after This Interview
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 сен 2011
- I met Terra in Toronto, Canada. An outreach nurse who had been helping her connected us. Terra is a wonderful, gorgeous 25 year-old woman who has lived on the streets for 5 months.
Terra tells a very real story about life on the streets. She doesn't like shelters because she was beat up in one, so she sleeps on the streets or in parks.
I hope Terra's story will stay in your heart and mind as it has with me. After this interview we took her to get some food. She is intelligent and funny, she just needs some extra love and compassion to change her life. The good news is the outreach nurse I was with is filled with that extra love and compassion and will do everything she can to find Terra some help.
Please support all health and medical outreach services in your community.
***Terra Gardner was hit by a train and killed while still homeless aptnnews.ca/2013/05/15/first-n...

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they’re on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as RUclips, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can’t ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation’s most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America’s homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.
I noticed she started to say “I want my life to change”, but stopped and switched it to “I want to change my life”. She deserved much better than this.
If at some point you can help someone do it , or at least try, I will too
@2high Campos what an ignorant way to look at things... i feel sorry for you that you live in that kind of mindstate. often times in peoples lives they CANNOT change alone and NEED the help of other people. we are all in this together and honestly to think that if you changed that you did it 'yourself' is ALWAYS ignorant. you cant do anything 'by yourself' by virtue of living on earth. everything you do will always be intricately interconnected with other peoples work, path, love and stories. nobody is ever alone no matter how alone they feel inside.
You can help a person just by offering them a job and a pair of working clothes.

There is an afterlife
I believe in heaven, so in my point of view it exists
Nobody knows if there is an afterlife. More importantly we should treat this life like it’s the only one we have and treat others with the same mindset. Everyone deserves to be loved and respected and to have an opportunity to be the best person they can be. Sadly, far too many never get that chance.
The way I see it, it can't be any worse than she had it here so it's probably and thankfully, miles better.
It’s pretty sad and scary that she was a witness in her friends murder trial, received death threats and was seen with 2 people at the time of her death. The police and DA should have protected her. They would barely give her 2 nights in a room when she was needed for a 5 day trial. The people that put her in danger and left her vulnerable should be held accountable.

The police in Toronto failed this young lady. She was a witness to a murder and the police forced her to testify and threatened to hold her in jail if she did not testify. She told the police that she was afraid to testify because testifying would put her safety at risk. They put her in a hotel room for two days and put her back out on the streets and refused to protect her. Her life was threatened multiple times on the streets and right before trial she mysteriously died from being hit by a train. @@jmb1666 It's impossible to be homeless and to sleep rough without having something to help you calm down. Why do you care if they have a substance addiction? It doesn't make them a bad person. I frequently give to homeless people in my area, knowing full well that most of them need drugs to endure the hell they have found themselves in. Imagine sleeping out in the cold, surrounded by trash, on the cement. They are good people, they are polite and do not hassle anyone, so I have no issue chipping them a ten dollar note. What they do to cope with economic circumstances is none of my business because I have enough empathy to know that I wouldn't last out there. We are all just trying to survive.

Being a parent isn’t an option if you choose to have sex without a condom then you better give every atom in your body to keep that kid healthy and safe, or else then what’s the point in bringing life into such a cruel world without helping them?
More like if you chose to actually follow through with pregnancy and child birth, you should take the responsibility of bringing a person into this world
If someone cant love a child they should terminate
Facts
Debbie Montague I agree 100%, not everyone is fit to be a parent and people need to realize that before getting pregnant. If you’re not meant for it just like don’t have a kid, I know there are circumstances that happens and such but your job as a parent is to keep that child safe because they didn’t ask to be put in the world and especially kids younger than like 10 have so much innocence. How could anyone mistreat children? It saddens me because kids bring so much light into the world. Now don’t get me wrong I’m not fit for motherhood nor will I have children but I doesn’t mean I resent them in anyway, I just know that I wouldn’t be the best parent so why bring a kid into the world to struggle ya know?

5:38 Her last dying wish was for her family to love her more than they do. This was the real problem of her life, and it started in the home. Parents please love your children better, you put them here and it’s your duty to love them unconditionally.
Well said. It doesn't make sense to have kids and not put in 100percent in being there emotionally, financially and actually be there as a guide and friend. It doesn't mean as a parent one should spoil their kids no, if you bring kids into this world it's your burden in life to see you do the very best for them and that also means preparing them mentally for the harshness of this world.
her family is probably the root of all but what makes me real sad is this lack of humanity we all suffer... we pass through them and ignore all poor people.. let's try to have a different view of our world.. peace!
Fuck the current generation of parents (60-70’s) they’re all dickheads
@vi.is.roadkill Opossum I think love is always enough.. you've probably didn't get the real meaning of it, I hope you find! : )
vi.is.roadkill Opossum who said the girl in the video is on drugs? She’s only homeless. I think you’re referring to yourself, and I think you should stop casting your negativity onto people who only mean well. Love is always enough, people result to addictions because they want to rid themselves of all their anxieties because they lack true self love and confidence that comes from a good home. She didn’t have one, and if she did, none of this would’ve happened to her. Children between 12-18 do drugs as a way to get acceptance from others knowing it’s bad, yet if you came from a home that was heavily built on love and acceptance knowing your parents expect more from you, you’d stay away from these things. It ALWAYS starts in the home, and love is ALWAYS enough.
I hope she's in a much better place now. Rest in peace Terra

@@mireyacortez2845 Dude, what the fuck? That's so insensitive...
Mireya Cortez excuse me-
I have nothing in fridge,my bed is a few blankets on floor, but at least i have internet and a roof, im counting my blessings n that fills me with gratitude.
this is very sad to watch, I'm the same race as her, and I can see myself in her small dark eyes full of fear
I'm glad she is free now, I can't imagine how terrifying her last moments were
this channel is really getting to me, all the loss, sorrow and suffering.
She's doesn't have to worry about anything now 😢RIP..

Brianna Willam no❤️
Brianna Willam smoking doesn’t make someone a bad person
Parents probably saw this video when she died and heard how she said that she wished they loved her more.
We can only hope ♥️
They probably didn’t even know
Is so sad, she knew what was wrong with her she had so much light in her
GBE Smokes oh that’s really sad
This comment made me weep
I highly recommend everyone to read the news article attached in the description. It’s heart breaking... she deserves justice.
5:26 made me tear up, you can see that small glimpse of hope in her eyes. rest in eternal peace terra
I just read the news article from the link. she was a witness for a murder trail and was threatened. timing does seem fishy she might have been murdered but police might think it's not important since she was homeless lady. sad.
Tampatec To think there was a dark story behind it... In the end no one really cared about her enough to get the police to take action.
Oh my...that really is suspicious.
williss11 The actions taken by police are normally not beneficial to the homeless. Most homeless people fear the police even though they have committed no crime. In any decent Society the only people who should fear the police are actual criminals but that is not the reality.
Mike Smith I'm black and I fear of the police
xoxo_mya 11 you should fear Democrats more
She had family and they chose to neglect her instead of help her support herself. Shame on them.
It’s intergenerational trauma it’s inevitable
I’m sure she’s burned every one of her family members to end up where she’s at. Gets old helping someone over and over and all they do is steal from and take advantage of your kindness.
It's not always The family fault. She admitted being DRUNK and STUPID. If anything she struggled too get back on track.
That's the case with 9/10 homeless under 30
@@RaptorJesus420- She needed help. She has likely been victimized since she was a young teen or even child.
'My family to love me more than they do right now.'
RIP
You seem like you had a kind soul
She seemed like such a kind soul, like most of the people featured in these videos. They don't deserve any of this.
poor girl would’ve had her whole life in front of her if her parents genuinely cared about her :/
Parents?!?!? This is a product of a greedy society .... can’t really blame the parents they too where possible in a rut because this USA and the greedy people of this world don’t know how to share.
NAggA 913 no excuse. If they couldn’t be good parents they shouldn’t of had kids period.
Bruce Lee what kind of homeless person would make up a story...they wouldn’t get anything out of it.
Bruce Lee dude you need a hug
Bruce Lee bruh get ur ass out of here, ur getting pressed over a COMMENT.
There is actually a website dedicated to tribute her. The saddest part was when I saw a baby picture of her. It hurt me cos as a child you have endless possibilities of how your live would be or end. I don't think she thought of being homeless, or dying that way. This whole thing actually makes me sad. Not just sad. It actually hurts me.

@@LL-ip5mm train accident i think
Oh my heart 😭 She still had so much fight, and good intent in her. I was a mess hearing how she wants to get educated to help others even before she has made it out of the struggle herself! I didnt realize there was an accident til after watching the interview and reading the description . R.I.P to an obviously good soul.
Rest in Peace Terra, may you find peace and the love you needed in the afterlife and /or the next life.
She would have been 34 if she was alive.
sober, and with a better life. :( I hope she had time to experience being sober and going to school as she said and help people who were just like her. Damn this sucks man. >
It’s crazy she would have been my moms age which means she could have had a whole family
33-34
She is died too early, in the sadness and in the pain, the moral pain and in the physique pain, hurt by a train, she has screamed very hard at the moment when the train hurt her, now her spirit is near to Jesus but really too early
She's so fragile here, so candid... I am crying for her today, I wish I could have helped her. Thank you for giving these people a moment, and to us too.
Just imagine how many bad things multiplied when she became homeless. Everyday probably weighed her heart down even more 💔
There's loads of homeless people just like her that you can go help right now
Killer Germ you too bud

indigenous lives matter ✊🏾
I know this all too well lmao
I thought America treated immagirant and indigenous people badly but the racism there is just as bad, if not, worse.
This beautiful woman is an example of how humanity is so ducked up! I pray that today is a better day and you are experiencing the best side of humanity xo
I didn't see she has passed on! Sending u love in heaven xo
Wow ... . . . Its always the innocent people who get hurt the most. My heart hurts for this person. ... her soul deserves a place high in heaven. To pure for this world.
This girl was so mature and humble, let her soul Rest In Peace

She died thinking no one cared or knew she even died, little did she know how many people supporting her!
@Darth Vader ssshhh
Did you not watch the video. Her family didn’t care, and her community didn’t either. We’re supporting her now that we’ve seen this, after she has already passed. Dead support is as good as no support. She needed that when she was here and alive. She deserved way better! RIH

Just found this video by now, almost ten years later. I feel so sorry for her, really do.
God wanted to take her to relieve her from pain. I m so sad that humanity didn't help her. Rest in peace beautiful girl. You are an angel now.
Her face is like a book. Telling stories that is deep hidden inside. A story that is too painful to share. A story nobody ever knew. A story of a lonely girl who the world has abandoned. A story all about sadness. But I pray, may you rest in peace beautiful angel.
amen.well said Zairul. rest in peace dear angel.
Zairul Salim very poetic I agree with you. Rest in peace
This is true
Zairul Salim its the alcohol. If she stopped drinking, she could still be with us, but yeah r.i.p
draco malfoy She got hit by a train...
Only 25 years old. This young lady deserved so much more. This poor woman passed away thinking nobody loved her. People wrote on her FaceBook page how they miss her but if they were good friends, they would’ve gave her a place to stay. This world is so messed up.
Pple..will always praise u..when u dead..but when u alive...u are all alone...this world is full of fake pple.
Amen.
The world isn't messed up, if you really think about it, she chose her path. She could've not drank alcohol and not committed crimes. She could've stayed clean, went to school, did the right thing... Its much harder to do the right thing than it is to do the latter... Even if you grow up in a shitty household, you still have a choice at the end of the day and most people choose to be a shitty person just because they grew up in a shitty environment. Just proving that determinism is right and that none of us have free will...
zendokai You are a sick human. Such a horribly warped sense of things. I think it’s all projection though. You so desperately don’t want to end up being this way you just reject completely that perhaps there’s more to it than choice. Well it’s not all choice. Suffer something traumatic, lose your family, lose your job, begun suffering from a mental illness and maybe a medical condition. Those things aren’t a choice. But if they should happen to you then you could find yourself there too someday. And you know it. Deep down you know it and you hate it.
zendokai thinks he knows as much as God
Omg I’m watching this in 2021, I couldn’t stop crying I saw my sisters in her and I wanted to reach out and hug and give her so much love. The world is cruel but she is in a better place. Even though I have never met her I can’t help but hold her image in my heart. Thank you terra for being strong and compassionate when others chose to be hurtful. May you Rest In Peace beautiful soul.
This just breaks your heart ❤. All anyone needs is unconditional love 💕, it’s the building blocks of your life , you can’t live without it. If you’re loved one give up on you eventually you give up on yourself. Getting out of that vicious cycle on your own is incredibly difficult. Rest in peace, to young to have passed away, ❤❤❤
It's sad watching this knowing she died after! 😢
Omg it's u!

At least she is not suffering any more.
