You know… if done right Monopoly could be a hit tv series. The pieces could represent characters and Mr. Monopoly himself is the banker and main villain.
I’d set it in the roaring 20s with 3 Main characters based on the most popular pieces.
Examples:
Dog- a German named Terry (the dog is a terrier of some kind.) and the dog is his pet.
Car- a car dealership owner named either Otto or Carlisle who drives the model of the car that is also the piece.
Iron- a middle aged woman named Ira who runs a laundry joint.
The way I would have the story play out is that they get a letter of inheritance from “uncle Pennybags” to meet them at a certain address for the chance of a lifetime. Pennybags has gotten a bit bored after winning the Betting Wars of the 1900s and 1910s. So he wants to add some competition to spice up the city. So he give them a bit of starting cash, pays off their debts, and teaches them how to play the game of business. But in reality, Pennybags want to remove the last holdouts from they city and have the new kids on the block in his pocket. When they refuse he strikes. So together they have to beat Pennybags at his own game while also securing their place at the top. Who will win the game of Monopoly?

The older ones do not have that card included.
Then again getting the card and pay that amount outweights the risk of having other players get houses.
Since even on the oldest version you must first have 4 houses for 1 round, before you can buy/build a Hotel.
I once won a game with only the cheap side of the board. I just bought all the houses so no one could build a house or hotel at the rich streets.
@@dgerdi I found that strategy online, listed as "How to win every Monopoly games, and ensure no one wants to play Monopoly anymore." That second part was actually the main draw. It was a site for advanced boardgaming fans. The goal was to get people to accept your suggestions for a different game.
I would spend my inheritance to watch these if they were real movies.
