You gotta admire how prolific this guy's work is. Not only has he done traps for a random Cenetral American tribe, but for the ancient Egyptians, *and* some random pirates holed up in Astoria, Oregon? Can you imagine the frequent flyer miles?
And takeshi's castle after he retired
His great grand son made the Racoon mansion as well!
Reference from the Goonies and the Mummy?
When you love what you do, distance is only a small obstacle.
Hey he's a true professional
And he was right...we've been talking about those traps for years
arbknight12 sense fucking 2017 it will never stop
Except for Harnando apparently... he’s dead.
Especially the rolling boulder trap
Yeah how it was such an epic fail
So true 2020 XD
So was Nalumu still sitting in there when Indy came by? Or is it like a generational thing where they replace the spear guy when one kicks the bucket?
It was nalumu he’s like the grail night of this temple
In the Lost Ark, Indy found the secret room where Nalumu was sitting. Nalumu was a skeleton by the time Indy arrived so the trap didn't work.
They probably made it automatical.
@@leighbelk769 all this automation is taking jobs away from hard work spear thrusters! Smh
@@thesnakefromvrchat9014 it must have, that was the trap that killed Alfred Molina
He's both the most creative and least effective dungeon designer that ever lived.
NeutralObjections it was very effective. He even pointed out how there was no way Indy would have known 1. There was a giant boulder and should pack explosives and have someone wait outside 2. The exact weight of the statue God without picking it up first
actually it was effective. it killed the first guy that came into the place with that light trick remember.
To be fair, we only see those traps when Indiana is there and he always survives everything. There are usually a few skeletons in the traps which means they have racked up a kill count over the years. Success is relative.
Yea I´d hire him for my security system xD
me when im planning a dnd dungeon
Salt acid trap in Hamunaptra, Egypt (The Mummy, 1999)
Skeleton organ that made the floor collapse in Astoria, Oregon (The Goonies, 1985)
Damn this was A well thought out sketch lol
+1
Too bad he didn't design the saws, floor tiles and invisible bridge in that temple in Hatay...
"Yahhaha Spear through the face"
"It is a Devil's magic"
"No no no no, its just Nalumu over here" LOL
(So thats how those traps work)
lel
So that guy lived for more then a thousand years?
Impressive.
Do you know how much more effective home security systems would be of the intruders got a spear tohrough the face instead of a loud screaming noice..
@Afqwa true.. but a spear through the face would still be more effective, and the best part, no repeat offense. One spear to the face is enough for anyone.
@@JPLooney On top of that, a big spear is more intimidating than a tiny gun.
i like that boulder, that's a nice boulder.
It's not just a boulder... It's a rock!
That's shrek!
+Oliver Shepherd that's spongebob!
you guys are great.
It's not just any rock. It's Dwayne Johnson
One of Robot Chicken's best sketches.
Thechad201 by far the best in my opinion
LAW AND ORDER CHICKEN VERSION IS THE BEST
personally mines the nanny mcfee one
@@mohammedzain9663 A lot of their stuff is hit or miss. Honestly, this and Law and Order: Chicken are the best things they've ever done.
I like a bunch of their shorts like the scene with the kid and the animal toy. "The duck goes quack, the cow goes moo. Your mom goes lglgllll cause my ****s in her mouth" like 20 seconds to make me laugh forever.
You can't deny the architect's enthusiasm: _90% of his work is sales pitching to the client and yet he closes those deals, dammit!_
The architect did deliver everything he told the chief about and the traps did work as promised.
Chief: Is that a giant fucking boulder?
Worker: You bet your ass that's a giant fucking boulder.
Dak Lamerbusch
You're right that was the best part
+Starchild3215 Hence the title :)
Is that our GOD??? Just SITTING THERE???
PsyrenXY Seemingly seemingly. But the Altar has a weight trigger so if you take the idol down this goes and the whole place KABOOM!
+Nathaniel Rincon Ok, but what if someone were to swap out the idol with something of equal weight?
***** how are they gonna know how much it weighs with out picking it up? Have you ever guessed a jar of Jelly Beans?
Is that 1000 in there? 100,000? Nope probably way less 422 or something.
Nathaniel Rincon *gasp* Is that a GIANT FUCKING BOULDER?!?!?
***** You bet your ass that's a giant Fucking Boulder! It'll come rolling down and chase them!
LOL, loved the references to "The Mummy" and "The Goonies" at the end!
+Schone23666 Seti was no fool.
Bruh! Its obvious its a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)!!!
@@negasans9783 He's talking about when the guy mentioned Hamunraptra, Eygpt and Astoria, Oregon. Two obvious references to Mummy and Goonies respectively.
Which is even stupider considering this film came long before both of those.
@@thehydronater7628 when you take Robot Chicken seriously, rethink your life.
Funny that the chief wanted the snakes, that would have been super effective against Indy.
well, that's the joke exactly
well im pretty sure those snakes would have been dead after 1000 years.
snakes can reproduce
Kyle Crisci one problem food
not the ones in the room with the arc somehow
Damn that worker is enthusiastic xD
+Keen Trasborg i wish i was that enthusiastic about my job.
I'd be enthusiastic as well... since the alternative would probably be sacrificed to the "gods" in some rather painful method.
They're parodying a contractor. They ALWAYS use enthusiasm and (attempted) charisma to get you to look past their constant fuck ups. Seriously I had a guy who acted exactly like this who did my kitchen and he put on this act every single time they did something outside of the plan.
I'd be pretty damn enthusiastic if my job was designing booby traps to protect artifacts
He's the charismatic foreman who upsells and convinces the client to approve upgrades. Build it bigger, better, the crew gets paid more.
This is literally the process by which every dungeon in DnD gets made.
Fucking for real lmao
Acererak gives him a lot of business
There are no ramps for handicapped adventurers tho
This might be one of my favorite Robot Chicken bits ever. It's everything you want in a show like this: modern, analytical, and nerdy as hell.
"is that our god just sitting there without any protection?!! holy sh*t man!!"
My favorite part.
god!?
Why would a god even need protection? Lol
Seemingly Seemingly Seemingly but the altar has a weight trigger
It's a God, it doesn't need protection
Just imagine temples and dungeons in Zelda games were made by them.
I assumed they were already designing them.
+Ryoku Hyuga i want to know the asshole who designed the water temples.
+Alex Reznov
Me too. (Sharpens pitchfork) Anybody got a match? Need to light my torch.
+Ryoku Hyuga dude lol last time i saw you i gave you a rational reason why lesbian relationships on mlp would be ok... good times. hell if these guys made zelda traps i think gannon would never have to worry about link again.
+edge maverick but would have to sell his castle due to financial issusesm
I saw this film in a theater on opening weekend in 1981. All I knew was that Spielberg had directed it and it was some kind of adventure film. To say I was blown away by the opening would be an understatement. I remember thinking, “This is what most movies would use as their grand finale.”
True story: My wife was out of town, so I took my two little girls to see it. Heh. In the actual grand finale, when faces started to melt, I reached around each of them and covered their eyes. The older one, Jacqui age 5, kept trying (unsuccessfully) to pull my hand down. After the movie, she let me know that she was mad at me for having done that. So when my wife got back into town, all four of us went to see us together, and I let Jacqui watch the faces melt and head explode. After the movie, she said to me in a quiet voice, “I wish you had covered up my eyes again.” 🤣👍❤️
Very wholesome story
This is why this show is near comedy perfection, it blends nostalgia, nerdy fandom and parody into one. Comedic genius.
Best. Architect. Ever.
Lucas Liso BAE = Best Architect Ever
I would hire him
Better than the Empire
I like the idea of this one guy travelling around the world, booby trapping tombs and crypts. One Eyed Willie swears by the guy, Seti and the Thugee love the dude.
I wanna hire this guy.
HeavyMetalHindu same
I would love to see him design more things
Nalumu must have a lot of patience
+Dvd imension (David Alanis) maybe he was*determined*
(undertale referrnce)
Dvd imension Maybe he passed the job on to his descendants.
Probably drank from the Holy Grail
Nalumo the 15th
He's friends with the knight guarding the holy grail.
"Who's gonna think of that in advance!?"
Indiana Jones: We're about to end this mans whole career.
It’s because they were talking about it for years
"Is that a giant f#@! Boulder!?"
"You bet your ass that's a giant f#@! Boulder!"
That's easily my favorite part xD
This is such a funny sketch. I almost died laughing at their reaction to Hernando finally falling in the pit. Also love how they just barely catch the word when the bleep something out.
So that's who made the skeleton organ trap...
Jeff The Theorist I wounder how it works
Lol! The goonies!
Don't forget the salt acid trap. Though now I wonder if he did the flooding chamber from the second movie...
I wondered how it'd be effective since if it ever worked the whole place would be useless afterwards.
I wonder if he had to sub contract the job in the Israeli temple for the Holy Grail, due to his schedule being so full.
lets be clear, he didn't say people would be talking about ALL the traps for years. He was talking about the rolling boulder trap. Watch it again and listen to what he says. People will be talking about THIS one for years
Dude...who cares? lol
@@Marquis-Sade it's a funny point. That's how people talk about the opening to raiders. It's all about the boulder.
I care Mr 2015. I care.

one of the workers doing the boulder is using a wood saw.
You seem confused, Hunter, so I'll kindly explain what you're seeing here. These "action figures" are not actually alive, but they are being moved around by unseen people to give the *illusion* of life. This is a tool for storytelling, or medium, called *"animation."* Specifically, it is *stop-motion*, a technique that predates the hand-drawn animation that Disney is known for. It is highly underused these days because of all the work that it requires, but it is storytelling nonetheless. *Storytelling* is the act of relaying a series of events for entertainment purposes. Therefore, it requires plot, characterization, consistency, and logic so that we thinking individuals can be invested and not get bored with it.
To summarize... we're no longer cavemen watching dancing shadows. Our brains have expanded, so we need to think about what we're looking at, because denying analysis essentially makes us dumber.
Hmmmm, maybe he's just pretending to be busy.
looks like the hunter became the hunted :D
It's a boulder saw
Thank GOD they got the boulder. It tied the whole thing together, we've been talking about it for years, we love the boulder!
Lol I always wondered how the light activated the spears - the ancient Peruvians developed light-sensitive materials or something?
Nalumu always hits his mark. Always
+valinor how does it stay not-activated at night?
Dan DCC91
I might also wonder how those bamboo constructions managed to stay intact for hundreds of years XD
valinor Or how the artifact stayed squeaky clean after all those years. I mean, wouldn't it get super dusty?
Dan DCC91
Or how the whole place was rigged to fall apart. I love how in so many adventure movies, the underground city or tomb or whatever collapses at the end because someone trips over a switch or leans on a lever. Or sets their bag full of gold on one, like in The Mummy. Kind of dangerous to have the self-destruct button just randomly placed somewhere!
Looking back on this sketch, I think this is one of the more light hearted sketches (minus the dead worker) from the show in terms of it not being mean spirited or dark. It feels more like someone who really loved Raiders Of The Lost Ark, but was more interested in knowing how and why the Bobby traps were created. Not to mention it ends on a good note foreshadowing how these traps will be talked about for generations to come^w^.
Both dudes must have been pissed when Indy made it out of there.
They were, I checked their Facebook time from time, and I see status updates about him
But at least Indy did not take the idol back with him thanks to *cough cough* Belloq.
A truly great trap is its own reward
They’re just watching from the afterlife with the priest just screaming
Boss: you fucking idiot! I told you this would happen!
Decades later I finally know how that spear light trap works.
"Is that our god?! Just sitting there with no protection there or anything?! Holy shit! Man!"
That got me good.
"You bet your ass that's a giant fucking boulder!" LOL That made my day!
I love how chill the one guy is about having a bunch of giant spiders on his back
+RampantSarcasm Because back then people weren't such p*ssies around spiders. Hell, they probably ate them.
I love the dungeon designer's enthusiasm. 😂
this is a really well written bit for stop action barbie doll animation. such a great show.
1:13 this guy just went from shouting devil's magic to mechanical engineering in like 30seconds thank you for this ted talk
I guess he snapped cuz of the darts
I'll be real; I was paying more attention to his legs at this part. It's so funny.
Still one of the best skits.
2:04 always gets me😂😂😂
Darts?!! 200!!! 200 dart poisons!!! And 200 dart mechanisms too??? All I wanted were snakes!!!
b-b-but check this out!
And is that our GOD?! JUST SITTING THERE?! WITH NO PROTECTION OR ANYTHING?! HOLY SHIT MAN!
hang on hang on! Seemingly seemingly! But the alter has a weight mechanism so if you take the idol the pedestal goes down then the entire place goes KABOOM!!!!!
(Damn, man, save some fun for the rest of us. You must be really popular and fun at parties, everyone must worship you for your almighty opinions on humor. Anyway I'm just gonna continue the thing.)
Okay, but what if someone were to swap out the idol with something of equal weight?
How would you know how heavy something is without picking it up?
Like have you guessed how many jellybeans are in a jar?
“Is there 1000 in there or maybe 100,000, nope probably way less like 122 or something”
“People will be taking about this for years!”
You know...he was right XD
"You bet your ass that' a giant f***ing boulder!"
Gets me everytime. X'D
Anyone else love the mad tarantella the chief does when freaks out about the darts?
It's honestly a magnificent work. I heard a guy saying that the real treasure was the dungeon itself, because even after 100s of years of no maintenance, the traps still WORKED.
I love how the chieftain's legs move when he's angry.
I like how at 1:39 he does a full walk up and down the stairs 😂😂
I love the energy of these old robot chicken videos
Y'know the snakes would've work, since Indy is scared of them.
+Eddie "JaggSauce" Gluskin Not being scared of them doesn't make you a fool. Not being wary of them and careful around them makes you a fool.
+Princesoulger Who thinks that far in advance?
+Princesoulger That's the joke, it's irony.
+Princesoulger the trick is to keep the snakes feed and have enough ratio of females to males so that they can keep their population genetically viable
He didn't know that
After watching the first two Indiana Jones movies on a sleepless night I really appreciate this one.
I like how they're sawing and hammering a boulder.
Okay, how much does this cost ?
They're indigenous spiders. They're FREEEEEE !
A classic sketch. I can never get over "Is that a giant f*cking BOULDER??" "You bet your ass that's a giant f*cking boulder!"
Lmaoooo
And people have been talking about it for years.
Also, really have to pay respect to Breckin Meyer, he is absolutely brilliant as a voice actor. Right next to Eddie Murphy
So he did all those awesome traps, he was right they have been talking about it for YEARS.
DJ Moon Knight hahaha... yeah, no, that didn't happen...
also sorry for the late reply...
Nathaniel Rincon lol you have a good sense of humor
DJ Moon Knight Thanks, same to you,
The guy using a wood saw to carve the boulder made this completely unbelievable.
There just needs to be a series like "what we do in the shadows" and have it with super villians or bad guys talking to workers doing stuff like this.
Is it bad if I recognised the Acid Trap (The Mummy TotDE) and the Skeleton Organ (The Goonies)?
Hell no, it ain't.
OH HAAALL NO
Straw I was wondering what the acid trap was a reference to.
oh thanks man i've been trying to figure out what references those were lol
It wasn't from Dragon Emperor, the original Mummy from 1999 was the one with the salt acid trap (He even said "Hamunaptra Egypt". Not China) Jeez, don't you remember? Where the workers are prying open the slab and they all get sprayed?
This is so good. Thank you to everyone that put this together.
Dude, that boulder really tied the room together...
"Guys! We got the boulder"
"YEAH"
Just noticed the builder on the right is using a saw to cut the boulder. Lmao!
This is why you never hire your tomb/temple/treasury/labyrinth guys on a time&materials contract.
This is the most clever Robot Chicken clip ive seen.
"The boulder ties it all together" - best line of the clip
It is so nice to see a clip that shows the amazing amount of engineering and construction management that goes into the design of trap laden tombs and temples.
I know, right?
Sooo... this is how Sen's Fortress from Dark Souls was built.
TyrStark such a fun house
That makes WAY too much sense...do you think the snake men and living statues cost extra, or was everything a bundled package?
You BET YOUR ASS THATS GIANT FUCKING BOULDER
He's a better dungeon master than Todd Howard.
Man...I caught every single reference in that skit.
I never realized I was that much of a nerd.
That doesn't mean you're a nerd. It means that you are awesome for getting the references.
Yeah, anyone can get the references, they're all from public movies
And pretty iconic and well known ones. I mean, who HASN'T seen The Mummy or The Goonies?
Umm. I haven’t seen the mummy or goonies
I shall now go get the giant fucking boulder
2:30 HA! he's talking about the trap from The Mummy lol
Sean Cooper And the one from Goonies
I just caught this scene... who could hate this show it’s so clever and fun ;)
Everyone needs a guy with this personality in their business.
And he wasn't wrong we are still talking about this.
And this guy is what all dungeon architects should strive to be
Agreed
Where do I hire this guy to do a home security system for me. My man cave must have only the best defenses.
Your right M'aiq!
At least now we know how it all came about.
2:02 pretend this in crash bandicoot
Leader: papu papu
Workers: tribes
Miners: also tribes
Idol: gem
The man with the saw by the BOULDER is the best part of this skit 😂😂😂😂😂 had me weak!
"Whos going to think of THAT in advance?!" I mean you guys clearly did lol.
1:22 the left doll’s though 😂😂😂
Hahaha! Love the Mummy and the Goonies references near the end of the video.
It's not just a boulder...IT'S A ROCK!!!
Nalumu was waiting his whole life to use that spear and he missed
0:40
I don't get it. When saying that Hernando was stupid, why does he say "his sister knew a guy..." Is he suggesting the sister had a guy whack him in the head to make him stupid? It just makes no sense.
Also, only while replaying the clip did I notice the guy changing the "__ days without accident" sign.
Nathan Casebolt
Ah, thank you! That connotation didn't follow from his voice tone, so thanks for explaining it.
this is one of those rare times where robot chicken has something clever to point out ontop of being funny
This is my most favorite Robot Chicken clip of all time.
1:27 Crazy movement.
This clip is straight up hilarious! 🤣
1:13, 1:23 200?... the way he moves tho 😂
I’ve always wanted to know the history of this. Thank you robot chicken.
One of my favorite Robot Chicken skits!
This guy's Gran son...
Became the DeathStar engineer
"People will be talking about this for YEARS!"
Ain't that the truth!
I don't normally find Robot Chicken all that funny but this is pretty damn good. Easily their best sketch.
look up the go go gachat one
I like how the changes to "0 days without an accident."
Now THAT is a man who is passionate about his job
This guy would make a great dungeon master: you know the players are gonna get through it, but it'll be entertaining and they'll talk about it for years
Agreed
This was more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be.
