Nice review! I'm a Geissele trigger fan. Subbed you!.
Your support is greatly appreciated, thank you. Can't go wrong with Geissele.... Cheers
Hi, I grabbed your Geissele from J&k! Loving it as is. I’ll be changing some parts out as you did like the grip, but it’s amazing.
Truly is a small world and thanks for reaching out. I'm very happy that it's in good hands, please do keep me posted as how it's coming along. Absolutely love the Geissele SD and the URGI 14.5. J&K is pretty much family, truly good people to say the least! Just picked up the Daniel Defense ISR 300 Blackout from them, full review coming soon. Stay tuned... Cheers
Hey boss, popped over here from your other video, awesome review. And i see you did comment about the difference between closed tine and 4 prong. Duly noted
Thanks for checking it out bud, glad you liked the review. Rather it's the SD or the URGI, you can't go wrong with Geissele. Feel free to keep me posted as to how yours is coming along. Cheers
The Geissele BCG is amazing. It’s their own proprietary coating meant to be stronger and slicker than DLC coating and honestly any AR I buy or build, this is my new favorite BCG. Super well made and smooth
Appreciate the heads up bud. It's amazing comparing the Geissele BCG to the F1 Firearms DLC, BCG. Absolutely blows the mind how these coatings react to high round counts! Maybe I should do a comparison video? Both are well worth the money. How many rounds do you have through yours?
@@MyCalculatedRandomness I put about 1000 rounds through it already and the wear on it is virtually none. I only oiled it once since the initial oil and install and still running smooth
Nice...I was shocked seeing how easy it was to keep this BCG clean. Like you I've only lubed it once with 1k rounds and counting. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. I"ll be posting updates as the round count continues.
I second this. I also have about 1k rounds through my 11.5 super duty that come with their REBCG, it literally has no visible wear, cleans easily, and have had no malfunctions.
Couldn't be happier with this platform, currently looking into the 11.5 as we speak. Perfect addition to the collection!
what a beautiful gun. i can't wait to own one :)
I habe the ACOG 4x and Razor 1-10x and the ACOG is massively lighter and amazing to shoot at man sized targets out to 600m. It‘s light, fast, compact and intuitive. I‘m watching these videos to pick a second 14.5“ for my 1-10x because I don’t want to part with my ACOG mounted to a DD MFR13.5 with 14.5“ lightwright barrel that is just a joy to shoot and run and gun with. It’s super handy with a K suppressor, laser, Modlite and the TA31F
Completely agree and understand bud. Love my ACOG and it's by far the best 4x money can buy, as you said It‘s light, fast, compact and intuitive. It's been in Military use for over two decades and it's still being used today. Which 14.5 did you go with? I keep going back to Geissele...
I Have 2 Of These In 14.5 & Their 1 Of The 3 Finest & Robust. I Also Have 2 Wilson Combats In 14.5 As Well. With A Excellent Scope & Operator Behind It 682 Yards Is What I Can Reach Out To Often However The Weapon Itself Is Geared For CQB & Running & Gunning Is Where It Shines. Keep The Footage Coming. The Honesty Is Appreciated.
Appreciate the response, it seems we have very similar taste and you can't go wrong with Geissele or Wilson Combat. Having said that, 14.5 is geared for CQB yet very capable to 500 + Yards as well. As you mentioned an excellent scope and skilled operator is key! I'll definitely keep the footage coming along and if interested I recently posted my latest purchase "DANIEL DEFENSE, ISR 300 blackout, let me know what you think. Cheers
i run a 14.5 and an eotech vudu 1-6 with a 45 degree rmr (unity mount) and i love it
Nice!!! Sounds like a damn nice setup. Currently looking into the unity mounts as we speak. Update upload coming soon... Cheers
Nice content and Video. Thanks. Acog imo. Lvpo is a great option but too much weight and overall visual obstruction.
Completely agree. I've switched back to the Acog with the RMR. It's well know that there's a bit of learning curve with the top mounted RMR. But it's not a big deal with the proper training. I''ll have a video posted soon as to why I choose this setup over the LPVO. Stay tuned... Cheers
Nice setup!
Much appreciated bud! Do you have a similar setup?
Good old Del Marva. Geissele makes solid stuff
Without a doubt Del Marva is my home away from home and Geissele is among the best to say the least! How often do you shoot at Del Marva? Happy New Years... Cheers
I liked the bcg so much I bought one for my bcm .
Congrats, It's well worth it bud.
Good review! I'm currently in the market for a 14.5" to 16" upper to pair with a DD lower I have sitting around. I plan to run it suppressed so 14.5" is preferred. I was looking at the Geissele super duty 14.5" and DDM4V7 16" upper. Any thoughts?
Much appreciated bud. Glad you enjoyed the review! In my opinion the ballistic advantage between the 14.5" and the 16" is minimal. Then again this will defenitley depend on your environment and overall mission-set. Having said that, for my environment/setup I decided to go with the 14.5" over the 16". With that being said for your setup I would go with the Geissele URGI 14.5" simply because it comes what the Surefire 4 Prong Flash Hider. Which in my option is one of the best out there next to the Surefire 3 Prong. To my knowledge the 14.5 " URGI also comes with DD CHF barrel as well. I have full review of the 14.5" URGI on the channel as well. Hope this helps bud. Cheers.....
the Geissele is a combat trigger, the other one is for range toys, u said it best, shoot them together on the same day theyre gonna feel different
Couldn't agree more bud. I test all my firearms side by side depending on the review before I provide any opinions or uploads. More content coming soon. Cheers
i got a super duty im taking deer hunting this year...great rifle...i get 1 moa all day with it. 16 inch but still...id like to get an urgi one day with the daniel defense barrel but i dont believe they make them anymore...does yours have the daniel defense barrel?
Congrats on the purchase! The SD is an amazing platform to say the least. How many rounds do you have through it thus far? In reference to the URGI (Near Clone) came with the DD CHF barrel and to be honest it shoots a tad bit softer then the the SD. Nonetheless you can't go wrong with either of the two. To my knowledge you can still find the URGI (Near Clone) 14.5. Unfortunately it might take some time with back orders and there's a good change the price point may increase as well. I'll have more SD and URGI content coming soon. Stay tuned. Cheers
You probably noticed the urg shooting flatter because of the heavier profile barrel vs the super duty
Excellent point, this is something I'll definitely look into. Much appreciated!
There weight is the same, but the URGI is government with more weight out front & less from chamber to gas block. Geissele Super Duty profile is more evenly contoured
The URG-I doesn’t have a heavier profile. It’s a government profile. The Super Duty has a much better even taper profile too it which imo is better.
Sure do the Leathern MUT. I thought it was cool but heavy. But then again if you don’t need to lug around extra tools that’s cool
It's an overall excellent daily tool. Never thought I'd use it as much as I do. Also finding new ways to incorporate it into the AR platforms. Do you have or are getting an Geissele SD?
How does it handle woth the full size suppressor? I'm conflicted on getting the rc2 or mini suppressor for my 14.5
This is something that I contemplated as well. Having said that the full size RC2 has worked out very well, with this exception. I decided to go back to the tried and true ACOG, due to the over all weight with the GEN 3 Razor 1-10. In doing so I have the ACOG set as far back as possible. This counters the additional RC2 weight perfectly and of course it also helps to mitigate the tight eight relief of the ACOG. Other than that it's a simple matter of training when it comes down to CQB, which in my opinion is not difficult when using the full size RC2 with the 14.5. Needless to say this platform has been tested on the field for many years. You can't go wrong with the proper training. I have some update uploads coming soon. Stay tuned... Merry Christmas and happy New Years bud. Cheers
good vid
Hello,
Could you inform me, according to which would be the best Ar15 between the Geissele automatics dutu 14,5 and the Daniel Defense M4A1?
I hesitate between the two and I can not decide to help me, please .
Merci beaucoup
Best regards.
From my experience the Geissele Automatics 14.5 pin and welded variants (Super Duty and the URGI) are a better value points for the money. Having said that I shoot both of them about the same, as they are both very accurate platforms. Hope this helps. Cheers
I don’t live in the US. How do these kinds of ranges work? Does everyone fire for 15 or 30 minutes and then you get 10 minutes of range cold time to inspect your targets and hang up new ones or how does it work?
Great question and welcome to the channel. There is no particular timeframe for the shooting or setup timeframe, if you need to the range to be cold "Meaning time to setup targets" you simply let the range officer know and they will stop the shooting session and everyone setups their targets etc thereafter. Hope this helps...
Id just get a primary arms with a griffen retical or eotech or aimpoint pro or something similar... the amount ud use anything in a magnified optic is negligable compared to red dot
Im debating on getting a urgi/ddm4v7/ suger weasel 13 or 16"/ or bcm/zev. And hinestly prob this or sugar weasel.. i kno il get hate but dont care
All amazing platforms to say the least, from my experience the Geissele Super Duty or URGI would be my preferred option. Feel free to keep me posted. Cheers...
I got the 16” SD and put the exact same stock and grip on it, great rifle and accurate and it feels like it’s over engineered to handle abuse, anyone considering getting this rifle can buy with confidence, just make sure it’s not one of the black oxide barreled ones that are still out there, make sure it has the mag phos coating and there’s still some with nitrided barrels still out there which is the one I got since Geissele doesn’t offer those barrels anymore. One of these days they’ll get 14.5 URGI near clone upper in stock, even though they use Geissele barrels now I still want one and I want to put it on an ADM4 lower.
Congrats on the 16 SD bud. Damn nice platform to say the least and thanks for the provided information. Fortunately I've yet to have any problems to report. Keep me posted if you do get a change to purchase the14.5 Near Clone, URGI. It's by far among my favorites to say the least. Cheers.....
Just picked up the URGI 14.5" upper this past holiday, The holiday started they weren't in stock, A few hours in i got a notification they had them, Couldn't pass it up @$990,Still waiting for it to get here they say up to 4 weeks. My other toy is a 14.5 BCM did i want two 14.5s no not really but like i said i could pass the sale up. I'll have to look for your URGi video. I'm not really liking the scope thing I went with a Eotect and a x3 & a x5 magnifier using the center mounts rather than having it hang off the side. That said the Eotect are fast asf your on target real quick....
Nice!!! Huge congrats on the URGI. That's one hell of a good deal bud. The're definitely getting harder to come by these days. Let me know what you think of the URGI upload. Did your URGI come with the Surefire four prong? I have the Eotech 3X magnifier on another platform and absolutely love it. Thousands of rounds later with no complaints.
@@MyCalculatedRandomness Hey, Yes on the 4 prong, Its coming directly from Geissele so its got all the goodies ..spring/ H1 buffer etc. everything they package in the sale, Looks like the just processed my Credit card so it should be here next week, I here ya on the price Right after the holiday sale they raised the regular price from $1250 to $1350 so i got in right under the wire, It's still gonna take me a minute to complete it, I have to build out the lower, I need optics, you know, it's gonna take another $1700 doing it all myself so i don't see it being done for 3 months or so, Unless i steal everything off the BCM. lol..
@@MyCalculatedRandomness i just looked a little closer at you page You've put together a nice collection over the years. 🙏🙏
Many congrats again bud. You got one hell of great deal! The URGI is by far my favorite build and the 4 prong is among my favorite flash hider as well. That said, thanks for keeping me posted. I"m looking forward to hearing how it's coming along. Cheers
Much appreciated. It's been a very expensive journey to say the least Lol! No regrets nonetheless...
Is this the black or Luna black ? I’m not sure which I should get
Luna Black, I don't think you can go wrong with either of the two. Feel free to keep me posted. Cheers
Hey bud, I hope this helps you choose an optic. I have the same rifle, same length. I have also used both the Razor Gen 3 1-10 and the Gen 2E 1-6 on it and I am sticking with the 2E. This was not the outcome that I expected, I fully planned on liking the 10x more. My 2E has the JM-1 BDC reticle.
However, the 1x performance of the 2E with the JM-1 reticle is faster for me. The biggest “issue” with the Gen 3 with the 1-10 range and FFP is that at 1x the reticle is so small it gets lost if it’s not lit bright. This never happens for me with the SFP 1-6. This would not be as big an issue on a gun where speed isn’t as critical, and mine will now live on a 18.5” POF Revolution 308. I suppose you could also mitigate the 1x issue with an offset or piggyback dot.
In addition, I mainly shoot 75 grain Speer Gold Dot SP. I have chrono’d that load out of this barrel and entered the data into a ballistic calculator. I live in SW Florida so your environmental mileage may vary but for me, the drops at 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards are EXACTLY where the JM-1 BDC marks are. I use a 50-200 zero.
I feel that a 14.5” is the definition of do-it-all for ARs, so speed and simplicity are desirable all the time. The Razor Gen 2E gives me more speed at short range and less complexity at distance than the Gen 3. I get all of the information I want out of the scope and none of the noise I don’t want. It’s a match made in Heaven for the SD 14.5”.
Apologies for the delayed response and thank you very much for the detailed response bud, it's truly appreciated! With that being said you absolutely nailed it. I completely agree with everything you said. In my opinion the Gen 3, 1-10 is suited more for a 16 inch + (bench application) as the eye relief is mitigated after 8 power. In your case it's perfect for the 18.5" POF 308, which is a damn nice platform. In addition the 50-200 zero is spot on and I completely agree the 14.5" is the perfect one and done for my specifics needs/mission-set. Thanks again and feel free to keep me posted on how your spec is coming along. Stay tuned,,, more content coming soon. Cheers
Any FFP LPVO that requires illumination on 1x is just poor reticle design. The ATACR, and VCOG for example are excellent on 1x even without illumination.
However I generally believe the SFP is hard to beat for people that mostly use their LPVOs on 1x
@@MellowFellowOfYellow Completely agree bud. Aside from the weight you can't go wrong wit the VCOG and without a drought its non-illuminated 1x is amazing. Then again Trijicon has always been known for its glass clarity! SFP is also preferred for 1x. With that being said, the ACOG is still my primary as it's perfect for my mission set. Cheers....
@@MellowFellowOfYellowtotally agree. The reticle design of the Gen 3 Razor is in need of revision.
I just took my super duty out to the range today. Noticed it was smoking after only 60 rounds, Not shooting fast. Extremely accurate though.
Congrats on the range day. I'm pretty sure the smoke is due to the factory lubrication burning off. Which mine also had an extreme amount applied from the factory. Appreciate the heads up. What was the total round count for the day?
@@MyCalculatedRandomness oh wow that makes a lot of sense. Yes the upper was extremely lubricated, also explains the smell it had. Total count was around 100 rounds. Mane purpose of the day was zero the red dot and function of the upper. Will be going back shortly and putting it through a bit more.
@@Protectiveedgetraining Glad I could help clear some things up. All uppers or full assemblies should come wet (lubricated). Keep me posted on how it's coming along and have a great Christmas and New Year to come. Cheers..
@@MyCalculatedRandomness will do. Merry Christmas to you as well!!
I literally have box full of angled grips, switched to the K2+ grip
Can't go wrong with the K2+ grips. This has been my go too for many years now and I have no regrets! Which platform did you install it on?
What are the exact backup iron sights are you using here on your Geissele super duty?
@@davidhunter9974 Appreciate the question: Front sight is: Knight's Armament Folding Micro, Black, 25654. Rear sight is: Knight's Armament Folding Micro 600 Meter, Black, 25650. Hope this helps! Cheers

@@MyCalculatedRandomness You have a nice collection and I enjoy the content I will subscribe
@@davidhunter9974 Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words and support. Just purchased the SIG M18X and CZ Shadow 2 Compact, more content to come... Cheers
How much did the POI change when you added the suppressor on the super duty?
Great question. There was a very slight elevation adjustment when applying the RC2 and taking it off. Keep in mind this Point of Impact change was very minimal at 50 yards and could have been addressed by hold adjustments. Due to our schedule we didn't get a change to get accurate data when ranging out to a 100 yards. Having said that we will be back at the range soon to dial everything in. Are you looking into or have this type of setup? More content to come, stay tuned..... Cheers
@@MyCalculatedRandomness I'm looking into getting one and want to eventually suppress it. I was concerned it had a crush washer but it looks like it uses a spacer? Did you have any alignment issues with the RC2? I'd like to put a NX8 1-8 and shoot to distance so more data on the POA POI would be great.
Great minds think alike, you're going to love this platform. In reference to your question: There were no alignment issues when applying the RC2. It's quick attach system works extremely well. Having said that, there is slight learning curve if you've never used this system before. You'll feel the RC2 lock into place after a few revolutions. With ratcheting the RC2 into its locking position thereafter. As far as the POI is concern, It really depends on windage, bullet grain (55, 77 etc) and of course the shooters skillset. In my opinion the 1-8 is an excellent choice (Depending out the distance) of course. Hope this helped. Cheers...
@@MyCalculatedRandomness Thank you
@@kyleguillot8199 No problem at all bud!
What would you choose between the Geissele Super Duty Rifle, 14.5" 5.56 or the Daniel’s defense m4A1 r3 14.5” 5.56 looking to get one of the 2 I think they’re bolth awesome and not worried about the price please let me know. I’m gonna run the vortex razor 1-10 HD gen3 and may or may not run a SOCOM556 MINI2 SUPPRESSOR
Excellent question bud. Let me start off by saying both of these platforms are amazing to say the least and you can't go wrong with either one. With that being said, If I had to choose one over the other I would choose the Geissele SD 14.5 for the following reasons: (1) Being that both platforms are pinned and welded I would choose the SD because of its muzzle compatibility to the Surefire RC2 Surpressor (2) The SD comes with a better trigger "SSA-E X with Lightning Bow® trigger" over the DD mil spec trigger (3) Even tho I love the DD R3 rail, I would still choose the SD M-Lock rail for my particular setup. (4) The SD is more for the money with the same quality in my opinion. It's also not worthy, that this is my current opinion which could change as the round count continues on the SD. But from my experience of experience of people that I trust in the field, this is my current opinion. Hope this helps. Stay tuned for more updates....
I love my Geisselle you’re very correct about more for the money litteraly needs no modifications just accessories I put a tan green dot holosun 510 with a unity riser magpul k2+ and a Daniel defense missed color so looks sweet on the tan color scheme of the geissele waiting on primary arms to restock the Surefire 640 dual fuel in the tan color and that’s it for. Or maybe a suppressor one day
Is the 14.5 considered a SBR?
No, the muzzle device is pin & welded
I echo the response below, make sure when looking at a 14.5 or 13.7 (Example, NOVESKE) that it's pin and welded with a total length of 16 inches.
@@MyCalculatedRandomness So technically, the Geissele Super Duty 14.5" rifle is 16" with the muzzle device. I'm just making sure before making the purchase. thank you very much.
@@jaocastillo3776 No problem, This is correct the Geissele Super Duty 14.5 Pin & Welded has a total length of 16 inches and is not an SBR 🤛👍
What is that mount
Great question and my apologies for the delayed response. Tis is a Badger Ordnance, Condition One Modular Mount, 34-mm-1-70-lower-1-3-height. No complaints thus far! Amazing mount to say the least. More content coming soon. Cheers....

14.5 or 16?
Pin and welded 14.5. Thinking about getting the 16 inch for an SPR setup but I havent decided as of yet. Which do you prefer?
How many rounds did that have when making this video?
06:24 Roughly 400 rounds, which took place in one range setting. Currently I have I've ran 1k rounds + with no problems to report. Stay tuned, I'll be posting updates as the round count continues.
@@MyCalculatedRandomness I have an 11.5 in superduty with 3000 plus or minus likely plus and I’ve had a few hiccups here and there, failure to go into battery, failure to lock back, after cleaning though improved
Appreciate the insight bud. Were you shooting reloads? Steel or brass? Cleaning and keep the SD lubricating will definitely help. I only run Non-Reloads and Brass through my setups. So far no problems to report.
@@mexicangator I have 2.5k rounds through my 11.5 right now. Not a single issue. Might be because I clean it after every range session. I love it

Try not to “slap” your trigger pull so much- focus on slow steady squeeze
I absolutely agree, It’s something that I’m aware of and has been addressed. Shooting multiple platforms with various types of triggers all in the same day has been a challenge when it comes to trigger control. Nonetheless it’s something that i’m continuously working on. What’s your preferred trigger type? Flat, Curved, Two Stage etc? Cheers…
