My original hinges for (half over lay cabinets) have some type of riser to attach the door to the inside of my cabinets. How will I know which hinges to buy with this riser?
Thanks for sharing. Could you explain a little more about the hinges in the corner 5:30, the "monster"one? I wanna replace them but it is very difficult to get them; from what I see in this video that cabinet is frameles but the one I have is face frame cabinet, what can I do? Thanks again.
Great video! I have an old 1950s kitchen with flappy book hinges. I took my doors off almost 5 weeks ago because I wanted to change the hinges and give them a fresh lick of paint but I just didn’t know which hinges to get 😕 I need inset hinges! Wish I found this video sooner. Thank you! 🥳
Thanks for the full explanation! I was about to order some half overlay hinges thinking those were the correct ones for a vanity I'm building. You saved me time and money! 😁
how to differentiate between half and full by looking at the hinge? i was told full will have sharp cut while the half will have a curve near the bend area.
😱😱😱😱 OK YOU GOT MY SUB! I have checked out your page and it’s like I hit the handyman jackpot hahahaha. No more waiting around for the bloody landlord... time to start sending him some bills thanks to Bill!! 😂😂😂
Great video! By chance you can explain more or make another video how last two hinges work as I will have corner need to install two cabinet doors like you showed in the video? Or what options we can have when install cabinet doors in the corner? Many thanks !
That was terrible, i mean the basics was covered BUT the door wasn’t even aligned with the door it shared the cabinet with….that would eat at me as a home owner.
I don't know if you're still looking at comments on this video but I'm wondering if there is a hinge for what I need. My bathroom vanity could use new doors. The vanity itself has something like a cabinet front surface for two inches around all sides. The current hinges are your old-fashioned hinge. The doors are smaller than the front surface of the cabinet and the pin of the hinge is visible on the outside edge of the doors. I'd like to replace the doors but I'd prefer if it were possible for the doors to cover the front surface of the cabinet. The cabinet is next to a wall so the opening door can't exceed the width of the cabinet. Is there a hinge that mounts on a parallel surface that would have the same effect as a full overlay hinge?
Gday Bill XLNT explanation ! I'll be using 25mm thick mdf for cabinet doors being fit onto a cabinet carcass constructed from 33mm melamine (Got the melamine for free and repurposed it). My question is considering Im using thick cabinet doors on thick cabinet carcass. Does the same rule apply being just to use a full overlay hinge no matter what thickness material is being used
Thanks for the easy to understand video and explaining different type of hinges. I just figured out I bought the wrong hinge. Was scratching my head why the cupboard wont close properly. Saved me from calling someone in. Much appreciated.
Hey Bill. Finally starting to understand these buggers. Thanks. Two of my hinges on the top door of a split door on a corner pantry (split for height, as the double-height door goes diagonally across the corner area) are broken. One on the pantry itself and another on the door side. I went to get the door side of the hinge off, but the brackets have a physical protrusion that prevents the screws from being undone. Can you give advice on how to get these off so I can replace the bracket??? Thanks!
Great video with genuine enthusiasm. My question, is there any adjustments on each of the hinges? I remember trying re fit one that had fallen off and found it difficult to put back on. From memory there was an adjustment area on the hinge?
Thank you! The documentation from some manufactures on their hinges are terrible. I wasn't confident I'd selected the right hinge for a corner cupboard until I watched this.
Thank you. I am not handy at all and have relied on a person who I over pay to help me and I finally looked at the cabinet door that continues to fall off after he fixes it. I asked him what it would take to fix it for good and he said the hard way is very expensive and very hard to find so he would always take our money and get the door up but I looked at it finally and did a search and alot of things popped up. We arent asking for this to be a perfect match but I was pretty bummed that we have been treated that way. We fell into his sad story that he needs work and is injured and sometimes he really helped but lately he would end up taking 5 hours to hang a picture. Thank you Bill for your educational info. These old school con men must hate people who actually help. You have now empowered me thanks Bill
8 Minutes and I got the BEST explanation of what the hell I need to do. Thanks bud
One of the best videoThank you very much Bill for your information and you time god bless you 🙏👍👍
Very efficient, precise, and bullshit-free. Simply a man who knows exactly what he is talking about. Thank u very much.
Enjoyed the hinge-based enthusiasm. Always easier to watch an expert with passion, whatever the subject matter. Thanks Bill
Your a star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I can finally determine what hinges i need to fit. 10 0ut of 10.
Thank you,
You’re welcome 👍
This is really helpful, but what about the radius of the holes in the hinges? Does this need to be taken into consideration?

3:26, I think the door is insert hinge.
Thanks for the clear explanation. Great video.
You’re welcome 👍
Super, I salute you.
thanks for this, just what I needed
saved my day.. thanks
lower the door to align
Much appreciated
Ran into this problem a couple of years back and my answer to it was take the door and hinges off and leave em off, we can't all be as you man!
Everything is easy once you know how to do it 👍👍👍
@@billshowto Very true but when in doubt bin the problem lol.
Awesome Bill. Thanks, mate. You are spot on. The top of the door that you put on is sitting a tiny bit higher than the left hand door.
The hinges still needed to be slightly adjusted to line up 100% 👍👍
Billshowto yes sir. Was hoping you would show us. I have learnt that now from assembling heaps of wardrobes lately.
thanks Bill, how do I know whether it's 105 or 94?
Generally Both will be fine 👍
@@billshowto thank you, it works
Woodprix is a good solution for every woodworker.
Legend.. Great explain.. Thank you!
