There is quite a lot to take on board, but once you've watched this hopefully you'll realise that installing concealed hinges is actually really straight forward.

After researching for days, yours was the first video/article I found where the thickness of door in relation to the cup hole is addressed. That, and every other detail you’ve gone over make this by far and away, the BEST instruction ever on the web!! Thank you so much!!

Charlie, your advice to do a trial fit of the hinges on scrap wood is INVALUABLE. Once done you can see how they work, and then work out, first whether you should change any of your measurements BEFORE you actually cut into your doors, and later how to adjust the doors. So much easier to do with the trial piece. Thank you so much for the tip, and to everybody about to fit hinges for the first time, follow Charlie’s tip...DO A TRIAL ON SCRAP WOOD FIRST!

Arguably the best RUclips video on this particular subject. I'm currently planning to make and fit a medium-sized door for a space underneath the stairs using concealed hinges (inset), and I've learnt so much thanks to this video. Great stuff.

Just wanted to say "thank you" for making this video. I consider myself pretty handy, but 100+ hours into a walnut cabinet build, I wasn't sure exactly where to drill. I had a pretty good idea, but wasn't sure until I saw your video. I also made a small prototype out of scraps to convince myself.

I am building a rather large buffet with three inset doors.
I plan to use these same hinges for the first time and have been quite nervous about screwing it up.
I like your suggestion about doing a mock-up and will try that.
Thank you for taking the time to painstakingly document your experience and trials and errors.
You have helped me more than you know and I am grateful.

Charlie - after 25 years in the house, my European hinges in the kitchen have succumbed to the abuse of 4 kids - so, I find myself needing to replace the hinges on 27 cabinet doors (well not all need it, but I'll take the opportunity to upgrade to soft-close hinges) - with many of them requiring repositioning to deal with damaged MDF around some of the cups. I've watched several RUclips videos & your video is by far the best - I now am not freaking out over where to find the best hinges w/ soft close, and all the work to install them without screwing up. Thank you for the really detailed video on how to do it - including walking through the brochure, using a jig and a mockup. My blood pressure is now quite a few points lower! Great job.

I was initially looking at your video of how to build your own circular saw guide track and stumbled on this excellent tutorial. Totally agree with the comment from Matt Anderson. Professional and comprehensive. I'm making my mock-up doors as I watch.

This video is SO helpful. I'm just about to build a cabinet to cover a boiler out of some old IKEA wardrobe parts I got for free. They originally had sliding doors so there were no holes cut for the concealed hinges. I was dreading doing all the maths to figure out where to drill the 35mm holes so this video will be my reference through the whole process. Thanks Charlie!!!

Funnily enough I've got a load of doors to hang for my wardrobe build, and I've just rewatched this vid to remind myself how to do it 🤣 I've bought no fewer than 3 template tools on the internet, including a Blum one and no-one of them have the holes in the right place so I'm afraid it's best to work it out yourself based on the hinges you've bought.

I've dabbled in installing these hinges for years. I've never known how much detail was available until watching your instructions. Thanks so much for your time and research. I'm now a lot wiser.

Thanks Cliff. I was exactly the same, but I kept seeing them on jobs I was working on, and decided I had to give it a go. With the massive scope for adjustment and soft close functionality (removing the need for door magnets etc), I don't think I'll be going back to flush/ other hinges!

Loved the video, don't get too conscious about the video length, if it does get long, just put notes in the video description about time a certain part was done. I enjoy watching the videos to learn all sorts of DIY tasks that you have shown, and would happily watch a longer one if more time was needed to explain something thoroughly. Excellent video as always. Thank you for the guides and especially thanks for telling us what tools you use!
