    • @Expressionsvinyls

      Hi Stefan, it would depend on the machine that you use. With the Silhouette Cameo you would use Silhouette Studio which can be found at silhouetteamerica.com. It is a free program to download and try out. If you are using a Cricut then you would use Design Space which can be found at design.cricut.com. Each of those allow you to create things but they also wprk for importing your own artwork. Once it is set the way you would like it then you can send it to the machines to cut. Please let us know what additional questions. you may have.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  6 лет назад

      Hi Jamie, we recommend using Permanent Adhesive vinyl on mugs like this. (expressionsvinyl.com/permanent-adhesive-vinyl/) Make sure your surface is clean and then apply your vinyl. You will want to let it cure for 24-48 hours before using it. Basically after you have applied the vinyl, let it sit. When you go to wash it you will want to hand wash. Hopefully this helps.

    Hello there! This video pushed me into purchase of a oracal vinyl. I have a question, is there any difference between oracal 651 and 641? I know the firat one is gloasy and the second is matte, but what about adhesive on it? How about durability on a ceramic mug?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, they are basically the same it is just the look of them. The 651 Glossy is a bit tackier than the 641. They will last on a ceramic mug if prior to applying you clean the surface and then once applied allow the vinyl to cure. That just means to allow it to sit for 48 hours before trying to wash it. It is also recommended to hand wash them. Hopefully this helps.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад +2

      Hi, we do not. If you use permanent vinyl and you have cleaned your surface prior to applying as well as let your vinyl cure it should be good to use. Curing just means after you have applied it to the cup or glass that you let it sit for up to 48 hours without trying to wash it. That just gives the adhesive time to really work on the surface. We also recommend hand washing them. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

      It's personal preference. Epoxy is typically used on metal tumblers because the shape is easier to work with. I typically will just let my mugs cure (I'll try to use thicker fonts and bigger images so it will stay on better) and I haven't had any issues with it.

      Have you cleaned the surface prior to applying the vinyl? Also, there are some mugs with different types of surfaces that will not allow vinyl to adhere to them. Also, are you working with a mug or tumbler type cups.
      We recommend always handwashing when you do this as well. The adhesive on this vinyl is not designed to be put in a dishwasher with such high heat. It also will not withstand the heat of an oven, it just wasn't designed for that.

      Expressions Vinyl oh yes . Alcohol and I use cotton gloves in order to not leave fingerprint.
      It seems there are kinda two teams on this subject at here at me in Denmark some put it in the dishwasher with great result and no problem and the rest .. well vinyl is of even I used porcelain lacquer to seal it. Interesting subject as the vinyl us the same.
      Mugs are ordinary mugs in off white/white as I just bought these colours for the time being ☕️

    Do you think I should add mod podge or anything on top to secure it?

      Hi, you can and there are a lot of tutorials out there that do. We don't recommend it. If you prepare the cup and then allow it to cure (after placing the vinyl on it then let it sit for 24-48 hours) you should be fine. Also, we always recommend hand washing in luke warm water. Hopefully that helps.

      Try rubbing alcohol, GooGone, Goofoff, or other similar product. It happens to us all!

    Next time you doing an image that big, get a blow dryer or an heat gun, blow some warm air on it and it will be able to fit perfectly. Nice job you're doing though, great video.

      Hi, Thank You for your feedback. We were showing what could happens at times when you use a larger image like that vs a smaller one that has more give to move around. Those are great ideas.

    They aren’t any clear coat you can put so the vinyl won’t come off ???

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      There are different types out there that you can try if you would like. We recommend just applying the vinyl and allowing it to cure for the 24-48 hours before washing it. Different types of clear coats and things added on top of the vinyl could impact the adhesive. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
