I wish I could find the college essay I wrote about Patroclus and Achilles back in like 2015 for my World Lit class; my teacher said lots of people thought they obviously had a relationship beyond the friendship depicted, and I got an A on the essay too xD. Years later, The Song of Achilles showed up in bookstores, and I couldn't have been happier to have taken the chance on buying it. God is that novel a masterpece, and I freaking cried at the end of it even though I knew it was going to end sad. Its growing popularity brings me happiness though, and if you somehow haven't heard of or read it yet, I highly recommend :)

The Song Of Achilles (WARNING: SPOILER ALERT) “Name one hero who was happy” “You can’t” He was sitting up now, leaning forward. “I can’t” “I know. They never let you be famous AND happy.” He lifted an eyebrow. “I’ll tell you a secret.” “Tell me.” I loved it when he was like this. “I’m going to be the first.” He took my palm and held it to his. “Swear it.” “Why me?” “Because you’re the reason. Swear it.” “I swear it.” _________________ My head drops back against the ground, and the last image i see is of Hector, leaning seriously over me, twisting his spear inside me as if he is stirring a pot. I am currently writing a greek themed siren story that does not have a happy ending. My siren's closest thing to a mate and their child is her best friends and they end up dying in her arms and right in front of her- these songs make it so much more heartbreaking when I think about the scene.
