As it is my favorite shounen series, I can’t in good faith offer an unbiased stance on its quality, even if there’s stuff I don’t like. However, if the online anticipation to 100YQ is anything, the fandom and the general public seem to like it well enough!

Fairy tails reputation to me wasn’t because the manga/anime was bad. I actually think it’s fantastic and it’s now my favorite anime next to one piece! It’s only because people who hate the series, people who were disappointed with it, (and people who didn’t understand it and complain anyway), dragged the series through the mud.
I cannot tell you how many times I was talking about ft and people trying to convince me it was the worst anime in the world or an abomination, or told me to watch “real anime”. I once got banned from a discord server for simply sharing why I love the series. I one watch a video of a guy defending fairy tail and he had RUclipsrs DM HIM PRIVATELY telling him to stop. It’s became such a trend to hate on ft, that people who haven’t even seen ft disuse to hate it out of fear for getting ostracized.
It sucks that this happened. Because fairy tail is genuinely an amazing series. It’s just whenever you mention it theirs always people aggressively telling you it sucks when it doesn’t

    This is gonna be long.
I know things are subjective and what not but honestly. After a lot of re reads. All I see is that these so called "flaws" is just mostly people's own ineptitude to pick up things, nitpicks, surface level understanding, misinformation, or making things up.
    1) 9:05 This one I actually agree on. But that doesn't mean it discards Lucy's development throughout the series. That's like saying you dropped One Piece or Bleach cause Nami Nami and Orihime use of the fanservice.
    2) 9:29 that's up to the viewers perfective. Which something you can say that to literally every shonen. Update: Just because it makes sense doesn't mean it's cheap.
    3) 10:00 I may not know any of that but if that's the case then why by are often by most of the community by example GMG are one of the most loved arcs?
    4) 10:40 - 11:00 The conception I hate the most. The whole "fRiENdsHIp" thing is that's only if you stray way/ignore and take everything out of context (Which is everything and I repeat, can be applied to every shonen), all the victories they had or whatever was explained. For example you listed Natsu with Laxus' lightning, I personally don't mind as it shows his development after the BOFT arc. But regardless of one's preferences are, it makes sense cause dragon slayers have duel elements. Plus it sounds like your referring to Hades which that ain't the reason why he went down. He was massively weakened thanks to the exceeds destroyer the heart of the ship, which is what's carrying him till now. Him getting up after being battered by LFD Natsu shows that. I got more fights for you if you'd or anyone wants me to explain them.
Conclusion: I don't want to sound like a elitist but at this point I think FT is not made for people who lack reading comprehension skills to be very real cause it's not that hard to notice. Is it above criticism? No, but most of these "issues" are real easy to dispute by anyone who knows the series more than the average viewer or something other shonens have. If you didn't pick it up and connect it's details, foreshowing or anything, then that's on you/the readers fault , not the writer cause there's a difference between criticism and bad faith(Which mostly I see. Trust me I know the series a lot more and they're really wrong) and it's mostly(Repeat after me mostly) not the stories job to carter to your expectations or make you like it's story, cause if your not willing to understand, then what is your reason for reading/watching it in the first place? DBZimran's dear Bleach haters video show that. If we were to apply this standard, then Bleach may as well be be bad cause Ichigo doesn't have a "I want to be [Insert title here]" goal or too many ass pulls with that falls off after soul society talk, Naruto bad cause it betrayed the hard work beats talent theme and Neji was right, and OP for having all the goofy character designs.
See what I did? It's easy to blow wrong or little things out of proportion. That's all I have to say. And since you mentioned Zeref, if you happen to know on RUclips or Twitter by a guy named Rax Razing, I recommend you talk to him about FT's context since he knows it *WAY* more. Precisely Zeref.
"dUmB fUN"/ "tUrN yOuR bRAin oFf" my ass🤡🤓. Just admit your retarded ass don't know how to read🤣.
    Thanks for reading my response.

    I respect your opinions, but:
I respectfully disagree that it takes 70 Chapters to get to the series' first big Arc. That Arc with Gray's backstory is a big Arc, setting up some important aspects of the series' story, as does the Phantom Lord Arc. Maybe big Arc is subjective, but Tower of Heaven's story progression is furthering story set up in the Galuna Island Arc. It's not as though one Arc is substantially longer either (Galuna Island is 22 Chapters and Tower of Heaven is 27). And heck, Mashima anticipated the Phantom Lord Arc like a big event and it set up important characters and concepts as well.
Also, you said that there's zero transition between Arcs, but then said that some Arcs have it. It can't be both. But also:
*The plot line with Grimoire Heart is built up for multiple Arcs, as is the set up that Laxus has issues with the current status quo of the Guild, the former culminating in an Arc that sets up the series' two major villains and a timeskip that sets up Arcs which mostly lead into each other til the final Arc.
*The Edolas Arc ties into multiple mysteries within the series that we saw build up to that point.
*The connecting story beats, while set up during Arcs, also play out in transitional periods in the story.
*Plot points from previous Arcs lead into the next Arc, such as Phantom Lord attacking at the time they do partially because many of the Guild's heavy hitters were on Galuna Island or most of the Arcs from Tenrou onwards (the Sun Village Arc is influenced by the Grand Magic Games Arc while setting up the Tartaros Arc, which sets up Avatar and that sets up Alvarez).
On the topic of the video, it kinda depends. Yes, some mainstream anime fans meme on the series. But some are interested in it's return. If you check it's sub, there's been quite a few posts like "I used to read this" or "I used to watch this" followed by "I wanna catch up to get prepared for the new series." This idea that some fans fell off because of complaints you can understand so "it's not gonna gappen" in regards to the series becoming this acclaimed, popular thing when the 100 Years Quest anime starts up is one I respectfully disagree with because people are trying to get into the series or catch up in anticipation for the new sequel. But again, these are my views and I respect if you or others disagree.

As for online reception, it’s definitely way better the it used to be. I remember from like 2016-2019 being a Fairy Tail fan was treated like a cardinal sin💀😭. Even though it still gets clowned on from time to time, in the past few years I’ve seen a lot of people recently getting into the series and liking it, and those who initially weren’t that fond of the series give it another chance and came out appreciating way more
Personally I have seen those who follow 100YQ manga and those who haven’t kept up with FT since the original series ended excited for 100YQ’s anime. So while general reception for FT isn’t 100% positive these days it’s way better than it was like 5-6 years ago

Overall, Fairy Tail is ok to meh in my opinion. While some of the hate it gets has good reason behind it I always feel like people harp on certain things that aren't really bad. One example is chapter 518 where people clowned that chapter so much over a very standard "I broke my body but I'll put everything into this final attack to beat the impossible" trope when there were other things actually wrong with that chapter and the one after it. Besides that I think fairy tail's strongest quality is that it has a very likeable cast and aside from fanservice the women get a lot of focus and development compared to some of it's contemporaries like Naruto or JJK.

Fairy Tail was one of the shows that actually got me into anime, since DBZ, Pokemon, Yugioh, were all on TV especially on Saturdays but like when I was recommended Fairy Tail I loved it especially S1. I missed the magic circles and how much the animation has changed in S2 but I didn't mind that much but the more it was getting to the final season after how it ended and like the Mavis and Zeref stuff plus everything kept going downhill and I hated the final season especially how the final fight ended and how rushed it was since Acnologia was pushed to the back until the last minute and everything felt rushed when he was supposed to be the main threat. I didn't consume anymore of his content after Fairy Tail especially when my friend who dropped Fairy Tail to read Eden Zero and then dropped that as well since the writing is the same when it comes to friendship. I mostly loved S1 Fairy Tail and thought it would remain like that, it was a fun adventure show and had heartfelt moments. I never really had a problem with anything and when I was looking forward for Lucy to do something or do more she got cucked especially in the tournament arc when she was winning for random bs like just WHY? And I remember seeing discussions of how Lucy's clothes never fell off when she was in her original outfit but after she switched it, now all her clothes always falls off and that's mostly what happens to her character, I really wanted Lucy to do more ngl especially when she got that op magic skill and the ONE time she uses it, she gets cucked.

Most of the video didn't even explain why you didn't like it or explain why it was bad.
I don't really get how the Oracion Seis were boring in anyway. They were great fights for our side like Erza vs Midnight, Gray dealing with Racer (movement vs stuck in one place). Lucy vs Angel (Freedom vs Oppression). We were learning about other magics too Hibiki giving her that spell won't be too far out of the question.
Edolas was about world building and we had a bunch of good fights like Gajeel vs Lily, Erza vs Erza, DSs vs the king, Lucy vs Byro. Mystogan was a great twist and expanded the world by connecting and understanding both worlds.
Tenrou is great and Natsu gaining LFD was expanding on dragon Slayer abilities. And we eventually see that with Acnologia being able to eat any type of magic.
The fights in the series are perfectly fine if you actually break them down. But to each their own

I know this particularly happens to fairy tail but the whole Lucy getting the celestial spell from hibiki was not ploy convince
Because if I remember correctly,Karen was hibiki's girlfriend who was a celestial spirit mage also and he had the ability of archive which is pure information
If we consider that hibiki once dated a celestial mage, then is it surprising that he knew the spell in the first place?
This has been an issue I've seen with fairy tail in particular which is most times people don't read in context
Same applies to arcs or character victories or losses
Am not saying there isn't bs sometimes, but most complaints or questions have seen are answers in the same manga

Fairy Tail had 2 real problems.
    1. It became popular to shit on it.
    2. The anime had a break, this unfortunaly always ends up killing half of the fanbase. The other switches to manga and never returns to the anime.
The combination of these made it hard to defend the show, so it kind of fadet away. Adding fanservice like its onepiece on crack did not realy help it aswell.
The thing many ignore in all of this is that the story not just ends, but it ends in the same fashion the entire story went. No bullshit kaguyas or aliens out of nowehre. Just the goons up against some other goons. (all on max stats but ey) And thats unique if you ask me. The man stayed ture to his formula until the end. Some dislike that aswell but personaly thats why i love it.

  • @ultimateshadeofwar
    @ultimateshadeofwar 12 дней назад

So i will say this, i don't have a problem with the fan service... Because i think that it reached a point where even Mashima was like "Yeah, it's not interesting if you see it constantly but that's point of what im doing", which he does, through Natsu in a hot spring scene, where Lucy is in panic and Erza is on big sister actitud washing his back. And to be honest, i think that now days that kind of fan service is demonize, when it's just good old fun (I mean i like they characters, but they aren't real people, also the pin up contest it's just amazingly hilarious and good way to you know, woman proud of how they look, which i love that kind of actitud instead of the "How dare you look at me when im wearing revealing clothes").
The fights, i will be honest, i don't think Fairy Tail at any point left the okay level at it's best, with the exception of Jellal's, Erza and Natsu in the Heavenly Tower was a shot in the dark, like it happen, and then it was done.
And Lucy, to be honest, i don't have a problem, but then again i work myself backwards through Mashima's work, i read Eden Zero, then jump to Fairy Tail and now im beginning Rave Master (Can't wait to finish it to read Hero's, i don't expect much since it's a single volume crossover, but still i wonder how he does it). So my opinion may change, and i may come to dislike what was done to Lucy... But if you pay attention to Rebecca and Lucy, they also share a lot of traits, it could be argue that a bit of Rebecca has been Lucyffy... So i think it's more of a problem of how Mashima tend to write his stories through friendship, connections and the different types of love. Then a the characters beginning to transform into previous characters.

holding hands doing magic it was just a bit much I don't want to say it sucked the war I did have a lot of good moments that I do finally look back at but it just left this bitter taste in my mouth to the point I just dropped fairytale I think a few months after it ended and didn't look back when
fairytail 100 your quest came out I admit it was really good, and then it got to a certain point where it started to fall back into someone like the same tropes it had in the original manga that kind of turned people off but it still has good moments that kept some people

I think the reason why Fairy tail recieved so much hate is because it ran around the period when Big 3 were at their peak. So any discussion related to Fairy tail quickly turned into comparison and got shit on especially by the Big 3 fandom. It truly felt like the Big 3 fandom united in some ways for shitting on the common denominator which was fairy tail and they used it very effectively.
And if I'm being honest, Fairy tail didn't have a stong suit that distinguished themselves from the Big 3 which imo also contributed to the hate. The only thing that i remember for fairy tail was themes of friendship and i think One piece does a better job at that.

Few certain Series that Ended did lose its Popularity including a lot of Fans in the Process (like Bleach), but other Series that Ended still has its Fans and Popularity are still growing Strong today (like DBZ),
I never had the chance to see "Fairy Tail" all the way to the very End because of how I got Spoiled by a plethora of Annoying Haters that made Comments and Videos about it's "Divisive Ending."

I mean anime has a huge impact on the manga popularity/sales in the past (most westerns were only anime watchers), in the case of Bleach it had only the anime up to 2012 before it went 4 years without anime until the manga ended abruptly in 2016 (just when manga started getting really big) and then total of 10 years later got an anime adapting for the rest of the manga. Its why shows like DS and JJK blew up insanely fast in 2020 which was the best time for any anime or manga to air around (demon slayer manga got literally carried by the anime adaption).

I Aldo resonate a lot with Fairy Tail since well. As a kid Life didnt treat me very well, neither as a teen. But I was the most harsh on myself having a lot of trauma to deal with. But Fairy Tail was and is alongside some games, my comfort zone.
I have learnt not long ago to appreciate things as they are, to understand others better, beyond the pain they may cause because each person has their circumstamces.
And I'm doing way better now, but this show drived me forward in an age I only Saw darkness growing, and now where the Sun shines I dont forget where I come from.
Still got traumas and doubts, confusion to deal with, social skills to practice. But I can see a way now. A path to follow. Where before I had no purpose.
And in a way it's thanks to how Fairy Tail taught me as a kid to treat family.
Not allways it's gonna be fine, arguments can happen, and hurtful things can be said. But in the end of the day, they love me, and I love them, and none of us actually mean any harm to each other.
And we know It, as much as we may hurt each other at times, we got each others back, we care for each others happiness
As a kid I honestly didnt see anyone as a teacher. Or someone to look up to.
So in a way this fictional worlds raised me with a certain morals.
My parents also, they are one of the reasons I'm Who I'm today. I just felt like I was being abandoned for a while from them, as I thought they were not doing anything and minimizing my issues in an age I was bullied, and pushed aside. Not acknowledging they were trying, they just couldnt fully understand.
They tried to be there they just didnt know how to deal with the situation.
I'm sorry for the trauma dump, but it kinda has to do with the series from my perspective, since as I watched the show alongside my brothers we started to stand for each other more commonly and connecting more.
We felt like we were accepted and safe while watching the show.
And today. I'm still learning and being better.

@@Ghoulastre wow thank you for sharing your experiences and how deeply connected you feel with ft. It's amazing how a series can provide so much comfort and be a source of strength and hope, especially during tough times.I somotimes think that i am the only person that put so much value into this show, connecting emotionally, having so much going on my heart. Hearing your side of the story I realized that I'm not alone.
From my perspective, this show is so meaningful to me because it reminds me of my childhood days, which I miss and where I was happier. As time passed and the responsibilities life imposed increased, the burden on my shoulders grew, leading to a more obsessive way of thinking about the past. This nostalgia is particularly significant because the show evokes these feelings for me more than anything else. As I mentioned, when I think of ft, it brings back memories from that time rather than just the anime itself. Even though I didn't have the happiest childhood and the difficulties, especially family-relative problems, when i had to experience people can do horrible things to their relative, sisters, brothers at that young age, seemed never-ending, the series reminds Me of the happiness from those difficult times, the innocence of childhood.
Thinking about these things can be painful because those times are in the past and it's impossible to go back. I think the nostalgia the series evokes has become a bit heavy for me, but that doesn't stop me from loving it. My issue isn't with the series itself, but with the past. That's why, no matter how valuable the series is to me, I feel guilty when I see its new state and realizing im not satisfied even though its me absolute childhood. These feelings strengthen my attachment to my old memories even more. Nevertheless, I cannot deny the emotional support and empowerment the series has given me. I'm going through a bit of a depressive period right now, even though I am on the path to healing. Nevertheless, I can see the impact of the series on my thoughts.
I also appreciate your honesty about the struggles you faced and its ok to share them i also go through some things so its not a problem and how the show, played a role in your healing and growth. Even though there are still challenges to face, it sounds like you have a much clearer sense of direction and purpose now. Thank you for taking the time and for maintaining such a valuable conversation. It`s rare to find one to share some deep things for a person

First impressions they were good I watched FT when I was 15 in highschool,, dropped the anime during the dragon arc cuz I had problems with the Grand magic game arc. But finished the manga cuz I was already invested, wanted to see it end and I didn't have anything else to do as a teachers aid in HS to waiting for my gf to get out of class when I was in college. Ultimately I hated it.

I still love fairytail ops and ost .I enjoy fanservices ,character, goofy comedy scenes and the world building but the fight and power system is busted,i cannot take villians and fight scenes seriously. Natsu angry .one shot .bye bye end.
    Edit:
I cannot take the Final season: 2 main villians seriously.
Final 2 villians :Zeref and acnologia.
Fairy tail was good when it was grounded and they had to actually train to get strong.
The way white zeref and acnologia got defeated has to be the most dissapointing fight and wasted potential in the entire animeverse.
Acnologia was hyped up by the whole fanbase in same level as Shanks and Madara.
He got defeated so fast like some side character.
Fairy tail was good when character arcs were actually fighting with logical power up . (Instead of this is the power of burning rage of guild trope.)
I hate to say this but Even with all the bad reputation of a fandom.
All for One and Shigaraki awakening fight has more impact and are better written villians than Acnologia .

Personally for me this was my 3rd or 4th anime that I started watching. I started in late elementary school and early middle school which was before Grand Magic Games came out. Now as I was a youngling I will say my tolerance for cliches and all of that was very high. Having grown up reading classical literature like Dickens and Tolkien my literature comprehension was higher than other people my age. Now I will say FT is one of my favorite animes of all time. Part nostalgia and part just loving character stories.
My thoughts on a few points you brought up.
    1) Yes the fan service is annoying and honestly made me not like the anime as much the manga as it was more pronounced and prolonged in the anime.
    2) The fights can seem cheap but we can make that argument about almost every other shounen. Now you can kind of explain most of why things are possible in fights like dragon slayers can eat other elements for example if they kind of come from the same elemental tree. Take lightning. If we use avatar the last air bender logic you can assume that lightning is a form of fire and wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for natsu to eat and use it as a source of power. Other explanations come from how Gajeel becomes a dark steel dragonslayer in the GMG. Also this is further expanded with Acnologia who can eat all magic. Dragonslayers can consume other elements they just suffer extreme backlash and depending on how compatible the elements are determines the effectiveness. Often these "cheap" ends to fights is expanding on the magic system and how different magics react to each other. Rufus vs. Gray showcases how some magic require thoughts and others are just feeling and intuition. How complex magic doesn't always trump simple magic. Also I will say as a child I didn't think as to why things were possible or if it made sense I just liked seeing our heroes win which made when they lost even more impactful. Heck I'm kinda surprised at how many people died in this show...
    3) For me what makes Fairy Tail's fights great is what they represent symbolically and emotionally. Characters represent ideas and concepts which tends to be overlooked by people just chalking it up to the "power of friendship". Now there are some fights where I wish they were more well thought out but overall I don't mind them. Most arcs make me cry during the ending fights because of what they tend to represent. Natsu defeating Jellal set Erza free from a part of her Trauma and helped her move on. However this doesn't magically go away as she is confronted time and time again with his face, him losing his memories, taking the blame for him when fighting Kagura, and when she's tortured her trauma resurfaces which is just a beautiful and realistic depiction of trauma. The fight where she fights with Kagura and Jellal confronting all of her past demons. Gray on the island lets go of his guilt and regret. Gray fighting Ultear and how she comes to terms with how she was used and her perception of her mother was wrong. Erza fighting herself in Edolas is a great showcase of nature vs nurture.
I find FT's foreshadowing just beautiful and I loved coming up with theories and seeing how everything tied together in the end. For a made up on the go story there are very few plot holes. Most characters in the world are complex and often I find myself sympathizing with who we are supposed to see as the enemy. Jellal, Midnight, Cobra, Zeref, and so many others. Most characters have a well thought out backstory which explains their actions and convictions. Zeref is the most heartbreaking to see as I often related to him in my angsty teenage years. Losing friends thinking I was the problem and therefore proceeding to self sabotage and distance myself from others and my emotions. (smaller scale than his problems obviously)
I'm older now and have rewatched the anime and reread the manga and I do certainly find a lot of problems but they are pretty miniscule and complaints I often make about every other shounen I come across. One of the things I've found very vexing is how people will just ignore how a show needs to grow. Many of my friends watch the first arc and drop it. Yes it starts out simple but as it goes on it explores those simple things and make them deeper and more nuanced. Struggles of immortality and struggling between what is lawfully right and what is morally right.
People shit on this show because they refuse to look further and refuse to see any other opinion. I respect it may not be your personal preference but it is not by any means a "bad" show.

I will always love Fairy Tail, I love its world/ characters and story. I like that the fights are short, one of my issues with Naruto and DBZ was the fights were far too long to a point where I stopped caring about what was going on. In my opinion Mashima does “filler” very well I always find the ones in FT entertaining like the FT race and the search for Frotch, and the play performance episodes for example, they’re just a lot of fun and gives an extra bit of life to the characters. And I like the fan service. The magic system I liked, for the majority of the fights it had a rock paper scissors feel to it that I enjoyed, certain magics are better suited against others.

ngl, Fairy Tail did make me almost throw my chair.
and that happened at the end of edolas where they retconned Lissana......... like really? Come on! and that was only made worse by the fact that she was still just a side character, a character that was supposed to be important to Natsu only to not be treated as such.

Agreed, I honestly liked Lisanna with Natsu more than Lucy but they tossed her aside the min she came back pissed me tf off. And because they brought her back the only character who actually had a canon death to get retconned showed they didnt have the guts to kill anyone off the show at all, many attempts at emotional moments such as Gajeel and Juvia with their deaths only for them to come back moments later cuz why not.

My first impression was that this is aight, then the magic kept expanding, and more characters got introduced, including the goat Laxus and Erza, one of the best, too, with a great backstory but then the closer we got to the final arc it got real funky not in a good way either but 100 year quest been awesome though.

My problems with fairy tail is that it has a lot of good ideas but doesn't execute them well. It has great characters, world, magic system, powers, premise of arcs but doesn't know what to do with them. When it comes to execution of the plot it fails.
Another problem is outside the the grand magic games the fight arent memorable nor do they have any choreogrphy, they are easily forgotten. If you asked people what their favourite fights they would not add fairy tail.
Another issue is that each arc usually doesnt have a payoff. Mashima does a good job at getting you excited for an arc but fails to give you the satisfaction of that arc, Grand magic games is the exception. Like the got me exicted the most might have been the arc where they fight zerefs country, Ithought it was going to be one of the best arcs but nope, it was a dissapointment.
Another issue is every villain will be a good guy next arc, like every single one of them out of nowhere.
bs conviniences apear all the time that make no sense.

Then pay attention cause it ain't that difficult to understand.
The good guy thing is something that every shonen has(Though they didn't befriend every body and there's Tartaros) Another is about the fights(Aside from choreography since that's fair) cause the community loved Erza vs Azuma and Gray vs Silver. If you didn't invest enough and have a bias against the series by wanting to write off every in your mind as bad, then that's a you problem.

Honestly 100 years quest is a fun manga and the anime looks good enough, I think Fairy Tail's problem comes from both the creator and the people against it: Fairy Tail hate online became extremely common because "LOL memes" which meant a lot of people who could like Fairy Tail did not; Mashima did not help with his approach to how the series ended, with the ending to me that felt as "I'm doing Eden's Zero now, so I might as well wrap this up quick", that plus the repetition of people not being able to die (I still think Makarov should have died by the end) really made Fairy Tail's ending a bit lackluster than what it should have been

I really enjoyed the show until Tenrou island, the arc had some highs but it started showing the type of power ups I've grown to hate mixed with very little character development. That arc could've built on Natsu as a character, his fight against Gildarts showed a lot of potential for what natsu might come up against. And the ending with how Erza got dominated to suddenly winning made me start to dislike her character. She was great but the plot armor and breach of getting powerups with no repercussions just blows. After that it just repeated over and over with no change and some fights getting skipped.

    • @zippo71111

And to the point of poweups, yes there was some bs since early on but the early stages of the anime and manga felt more comedic and fresh. Sooner or later you want to see some progression. Erza winning against someone who should be at least equal in strength while blind , deaf etc is just horrible. Has to be the worst thing I've ever seen in a fight, turning it into a comedy fight with happy saying it's because she's Erza was straight up S tier trash. I did pressure through the manga*, there were some moments i enjoyed but at that point it was just to witness the conclusion.

I think the biggest Problem for Fairytails popularity was the Long gap between the 2014 Anime and the Final Season. I know alot of people who loved Fairytail, but stoped watching it at the end of Tartaros and never picked it up again. And when that Final season hit there where just other, better looking shonen Anime around than.
Fairytail has some of the coolest ideas in shonen: how Both timeskip, especially the first, was handled. How Zeref as the main villain was setup, almost like a mythological figure or messiah. And also Edolas, its such a cool Arc, gives Wendy and Gajeel more stuff to do and triple hokou lives rent free in my heart

First time I had trouble with fairy tails story was the 7 years time skip after tenrou, which was so random and basically insignificant for the story. But at that point it was too late to stop. One thing that REALLY disappointed me is when he killed off and brought back makarov. Like just stay dead, the drama of it was perfect. And obvioulsly the lack of confession between nalu. Overall I thought the final season wasnt as whack as some people claim(although the acnologia fight was better than that against the alvarez guys).

I don't think og naruto fans are reading Boruto it has to be new fans because they don't even know how some of the mechanics of the world works that just highlights the lack of knowledge of the series in general, and tbh Boruto has completely ruined the Naruto story.
