Isn't that the villan from the Madagascar Penguin's movie?

Im not calling it that. Yall white folk have fun though
I think Dragon Age: Veilguard would be better than The Veilguard.
you dont like how "the dragon age the veilguard" sounds?
yep
@@AdibasWakfu it's clunky and convoluted
The “The” is just awkward
As long as we as a community call it "Dragon Age Veilguard" instead of "Dragon Age The Veilguard" I'll be okay with it lol
Im going to miss Dreadwolf just because its a badass name, but it did imply the whole game was entirely about Solas. Its not a terrible decision to change it, but the new name is a bit of a mouthful.
Of course it should be all about SOLAS. Inquisition was literally a set up for that. But thats what a century, between releases will do to common sense.
The pattern makes sense.
In DA Origins, we had the origins.
In DA Inquisition, we led the Inquisition.
In DA Veilguard, we run the Veilguard.
In DA2, we played that, too.
YAAAA DA:2 (best title)
DA2 was supposed to be DA: Exodus. So with that, Hawke is in exile. And it would keep with the DA:Vowel scheme (Origins, Awakening, Exodus, Inquisition)
😂😂😂
Dragon Age 2 (as the second one)
😬
Okay so this is starting to follow the normal formula of DA games. We'll probably have solas be a big part of the first half till our true big bad shows up.
My money’s on him slipping on an ice cube in the first five minutes and getting replaced by someone we’ve never heard of before
@@Michael5256-v6q oh shit solas was killed because of nugs but hey at least we found another mysterious elf Salos
Ughhhhh!!!!! After a Lifetime waiting, Solas whos Solas?
He’s gonna tear down the veil, die, and some eldritch horror is gonna take his place. Mark my fucking words
I just hope whoever their big bad is, they are done a lot better and get some more wins or at least look more competent than the last guy.
i think having "The" in there makes it much clunkier but i was also one of the people bothered by the lack of space in Dreadwolf, so its a lateral move imo
Dreadwolf is a name, a proper noun. Why tf would it be spaced
I think people will eventually just call it “Dragon Age Veilguard” but the “the” will always be awkward in writing ig. The acronym improvement does compensate a bit
@@WhenDevilsDuel It's been a two word "title" every time it has come up through the existing games. The only time it was a single compound word is when it became the subtitle for DA4. It was like the Dread Pirate Roberts. You wouldn't say Dreadpirate Roberts.
@@Liv-gs9yo nah it's different when it's a persons nickname, "The Dread Wolf" has a more literal meaning than "The Dreadwolf". Also this title argument is a hundred percent false btw. Origins, 2/exodus, and inquisition are all one word, let alone two conjoined words, wrong person to gaslight.
Oh you just mean 'in game'. My bad lmfao. There's a few ways to explain away subtitles and texts adding a space to be fair.
Veilguard sounds like some kind of lyrium based deodorant
I heard it was all the rage in Arlathan!😂
paused the video and had a giggle fit reading this
Dreadwolf being an anagram for Fadeworld was such a cool subtitle I’m gonna miss it :(
so true! it sounded so much cooler, in my opinion, than the veilguard too…
i didnt even know that
The name makes sense, but feels a bit too generic. "Dreadwolf" is kinda cool, and it didn't came out of nowhere.
I actually like Veilguard better. Dreadwolf kind of implied that Solas will be the main crux of the story, but we already know that there will be a different (and probably) bigger threat. My prediction is that the Veilguard will be the new (major? or shadowy?) organisation in the lore, created to uphold the veil, akin to the Inquisition in the previous title. Hence the name of the game.
They should have just waited on the name until they were sure tbh.
Honestly, given how some people have modded DA 2 to its original title of "Dragon Age Exodus," I'd say DA games having alternate titles fans will prefer instead is not without precedent.
The main thing that I'm not too keen on is the 3-person party/2 companions at a time, rather than 3. It's fine, but our group banter. :(
I can appreciate them saying it’s going to be single player only.
To me that means they hopefully won’t waste updates on multiplayer/ live action services.
Honestly i really like the new name, having it reflect the hero rather than the villain which makes sense
I can see why they did the name change, and i can agree - Dreadwolf, as cool as that is, means Inquisitor, and they have stated on record many times that each game is supposed to be a new pc and new focal point.
That being said, i know i wasn't ready to give up on my Hawke's story and we saw how that went, I'm definitely dreading (ha) how there going to write off the inquisitor in DAV.
That's a concern of mine too. I hope the inquisiter or at least the advisors or something is in it
I preferred Dreadwolf but hey whatever. Although the name kinda hints that my hope of the veil actually falling won't happen *sigh*. Also them dropping gameplay the day before my birthday is a great present haha
It's gonna fall. Then we fight the real villains, being the Evanuris. And then we'll probably repair the veil.
Happy birthday!
@@christinefarrell6438 Thank You!
I definitely think they should’ve just went with “Dragon Age: Veilguard”rather than “The Veilguard”.
The name just seems awkward, especially when you consider that “Dragon Age: Inquisition”, the other game referencing the important organization of the game, does not have a “The” despite it being referred to as “The Inquisition” in-game.
Still not too late BioWare. Just saying 😂
Anyway, I’m so excited for this. I’m gonna be honest, I started playing this series when I was 8 years old with Dragon Age: Origins. Way too young, but it got me hooked on the RPG genre ever since. Been a long time since middle school when Dragon Age Inquisition came out. I just graduated college!
It’ll be quite a moment legally buying the newest Dragon Age game with my own grown-up money.
I never liked Dreadwolf as a title, but i do wish they'd of dropped the "the" from the new one- then id be 💯 down
Party size is probably about balance. I don’t mind the name change, I’m just excited for the 15 minutes of gameplay!
I like the idea behind the name change but Dreadwolf is such a badass name its hard to make is better
Eh, I preferred Dreadwolf (and the “The” feels very clunky), but I’m glad we have news
I’ve always kinda felt like Solas wasn’t going to be the main villain of the game. The more news we get, the more it seems that is the case
The Veilguard sounds cool to me. It sounds like a faction born from the Inquisition.
But what if I don’t want to guard the Veil?
I appreciate how factual and concise your news updates are compared to everyone else milking the hell out of a tweet. :D
Guess it’s officially time to play another marathon of the Dragon Age games to prepare myself for DA:V. (I refuse to acknowledge the The)
a pause action wheel to choose abilities? kind of like mass effect? i'm a little worried about that. i want things more towards the turn-based end of the spectrum than the real time end, when it comes to rpg's i like to plan things out. i don't want to have to hold down a button or stick while i'm planning my attacks :(
While I originally preferred it without the 'The', I saw someone mention without 'The' then DA V could look like the 5th Dragon Age
I miss dad I wonder when he’ll be back with the milk
Not thrilled about the reduced party size. Love the larger party sizes in games like Pillars of Eternity. Hopefully a mod'll come along to fix it back to the usual 4.
Antivan Crows, Warden, Risen Gods Deciples (perhaps), Mages, Templars, Dalish, Karta.
I guess the Thedas calls trailer gives some clues and voices for those companions.
Really worried about the change to the party composition, 4 just always seemed like the perfect number, not too many and not too few. It makes me wonder why they're making auch a drastic change
At least Veilguard makes some sense. Seems like they're trying to take focus off of Solas and put it more onto the main character/companions. While I am sad that we'll only have 2 companions it may make it easier to strategize with the new wheel system. I am SUPER excited to hear exactly who the new factions are though!
You mean 7
@@WhenDevilsDuel There will be 7 companions total, but you're only allowed to take 2 with you unlike in the previous games where you could take up to 3.
@@MrsLAnderson24 yea I caught on when it was already too late, my b
Dreadwolf was a pretty cool name, imo.
So close to DAVE... So close
BAHAHAHAHA
"Debbie"
"*Dave"
"Dave"- The Penguins of Madagascar
@keirangray902 Ah yes, Dragon Age: Penguins, the most anticipated dragon age instalment to date!
Just pronouse it DA V. "Davie".
The world is on fire: I sleep
Ghil Dirthalen posts new videos: I WAKE.
I guess the name change is... Ok - don't feel too strongly either way.
Could work well enough as a way to focus attention on the party rather than Solas, especially if he's not the only god-tier character we'll meet.
Somewhat hopeful for the product, despite myself.
I feel a bit like Hawkeye in Endgame with the whole "don't give me hope" thing, have to say 🤣
I'm not too keen on the name change, but I completely understand why they did it. I'm looking forward to the full reveal next week and, overall, I'm just excited to have a new Dragon Age game after 10 years of waiting.
I'm not super sure about how I feel about this! I was SO used to it being called Dreadwolf that this seems just... either really worrying or really great!
To me it's only worrying - Likely means major overhauls way closer to what we hope was anything remotely close to actual release.
It’s going to be great! They’ve known for awhile they were going to use a different name. Changing it today, days before the big reveal, has generated tons of buzz… it was a smart move.
@@GOTHICforLIFE1 There were no overhauls. They just change the name to better represent the game, BioWare confirm this in IGN article.
My guess for possible companion factions in DAtV (like I preferred DAD, but it's not the worst) is a Tevinter (seeing as we already got a Magister, I'm kind of hoping for representation of the Imperial Chantry), Mortalitasi, Kal-Sharok dwarf, Grey Warden, Antivan Crow, one of those Rivaini treasure hunters, and someone from the Qun.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if one was a Dalish (or even Arlathan) elf. Keep eyes on that Mortalitasi and elf y'all, they'll probably stab us in the back
clergry from the Imperial Chantry would make a great companion! good for both new and long-time fans for Lore
@@happythoughts4553 Yes exactly! And they could make a good parallel with our southern Chantry companions such as Leliana
Good gods, 4yo? It was just a few months ago you were announcing you were pregnant. What is this chronomancy?
IKR!!!
Solas has made you... forget
Damn! Your child is 4 now! Thats crazy i remember binging your content when i replayed Dragon Age you baby was just being born!
Congrats I hope your family is healthy and well.
'The Veilguard' sounds like a new type of power-rangers.
first W in a while form bioware with these announcements
I like how Mark Darrah has a video on his channel specifically about naming your game and troubles of changing it. I'm sure Bioware was wary of doing it
Mass Effect meets God of War. Oh sorry forgot this is Dragon Age and we have 7 NPC on our team and we only can use 2 when we go out. As for the New Name I'm fine with it.
I want a mortalitasi companion. The new name, Veilguard, sounds nice.
I keep shortening it to DA:TV which makes me think "Dragon Age (Taylor's Version)". Apparently Solas is in his Reputation Era.
I think Dreadwolf was a better name, I'm surprised they went through with changing it so late. Also the change of name makes me worried about the focus of the story.
Saw the news this morning and have been sporadically checking your page ever since! I can feel the dragon age focused parts of my brain reawakening. This is a great format: let's us get the news with some additional context we might have missed and lets you get out a video quickly enough to appease the algorithm gods!
I'm not incredibly invested in the future of the franchise after nearly a decade since Inquisition and so many painfully mid tie-in comics since, but I am still vaguely disappointed at the implication of 'Veilguard' meaning the Veil won't be coming down; I was kinda looking forward to the idea of the whole setting getting a bit of a reboot wildly altering dynamics around magic. Oh well
Glad of the name change. I feel like it was too focused on Solas. So excited to play this!!!!
I was exited about it being focused on solas, but I agree to an extent I think naming it after the main badguy is a little weird
personally, i think Dreadwolf was a better name, it rolls of the tongue better and is simply more impactful, but I guess veilguard will grow on me.
Dayton Access Television
I’m really excited for that 15 minutes of gameplay.
I don’t like that we can only take two companions instead of three 🙃 rather limits things because of class, plus less banter since there’s only really a back and forth possibility.
Bye DAD, hello DAt V.
Popping a comment in here because I just wanted to say thank you for all the content you post. I haven't kept up with much to do with Dragon Age at all since that first trailer in your trailer breakdown playlist so I've had so much to catch up on. I've loved the lore and theory videos and after I finished with them I moved on to the new game related stuff. It's been so fun and interesting listening to your views and perspectives and has given me so much to think about the games. I'm looking forward to all your coverage this stream will bring! Thank you again
8 months ago I forgot this channel existed, but now we've never been so back.
So you're like a dog? You lack object permanence?
Changing the name makes sense on every front. That being said, all I can think of when I hear "Veilguard" is "Lionguard" from the Lion King series so that'll take a minute to get used to
I am hopeful but concerned and I miss Dreadwolf name it fit better
Finally beat Trespasser earlier today to finish my series playthrough. Right now, any news is good news for me
Sooooo excited!! Waiting for the game release😊
2 companions? Action wheel? Sounds like Dragon Age 4: The Mass Effect 5 Beta.
I really hope we don't have to run around and close breaches in the veil.... one of the strengths of the DA series is each game is so different.
Love new videos from you, however long they happen to be
I'm intensely curious about if/how BG3 impacted the development or marketing of the game...
I like the new name. I liked Dreadwolf but The Veilguard is also pretty badass. I dont mind the "the" in the title, it makes sense to be there and i think makes it sound stronger. Dragon Age Veilguard just doesnt sound right to me.
Man I want this to be good but hopes are not high 😢
The reason for the name change was that someone looked at the acronym and the fact that Solas is your main enemy and made a very wise tweak.
I'm excited for this! I like the new name too, I'm on board.
thank you so much for your captioning!! Veilguard is vastly preferable to Dragon Age: that one guy from last time
Dread Wolf is a much cooler name, stands out. But whatever, as long as the story & gameplay is great then us fans can get behind it!
The name change is growing on me (but I will also be ignoring that 'the')
I'm intrigued by the drop from 3 party members to 2. Feels very Mass Effect. I am kinda sad that it'll mean less 3way banter, but here's hoping the duo system does give us more party banter because in theory it'd be easier to write for pairs than trios anyway.
As for factions, here's my take:
1. Grey Warden is all but confirmed from that leaked gameplay at Weisshaupt
2. Bound to have an Antian Crow in there
3. Someone hailing from Tevinter, be they mage, or I feel more likely is an uprising slave. More party drama that way.
4. Going off some of the short stories from Tevinter Nights, we might have a Lord of Fortune
5. Some sort of Qunari. Or perhaps a Fog Warrior
6. Need us a dwarf in the mix, especially after the revalations of The Descent DLC
7. Someone from Nevarra, perhaps even a Mortalitasi?
Check the comics. All the major factions are showcased in there. The comics seem to be specifically tailored to let you meet them.
@@flooferdoofer I need to do a full dive across all the content in preparation for DA:V. Games, novels, comics, the works. I read the comics but it's been a while XD roll on Tuesday reaveal!
Well I didn't guess Veil Jumper but after the latest reveal I'm a little chuffed that I wasn't far off XD
Oooooff- had they chose to reveal the gameplay a day earlier on the 10th, it would've coincided with Tuen Ng Dragon Boat Festival. :/
Questionable quality is my middle name!!! Love it!!!!
Well I'll have a nice birthday present from Bioware with this first look at DA:V
The "the" feels pretty superfluous and I wish it wasn't there but I also keep calling it vanguard instead of Veilguard. I dunno it's just the name so it's not a massive deal to me but it's just weird.
I want one companion to represent Antiva! Maybe as an Antivan crow or somehow connected to Josephine's family trading empire.
Well we pretty much know for sure there's a Grey warden, an antivan Crow, and probably someone from the inquisition- maybe harding? As for the others not sure lots of possibilities
Like the new name better. I like that the game has its main focus on the protagonists and that their story connects into an overreaching arc that spans through several releases of the game… but that the game itself as its own focus.
Dreadwolf is much more a direct continuation from where we were left of after Trespasser dlc and Tevinter Nights book.
Veilguard hints/promises that the player will go into and experience a perspective that can be played as a stand alone while those that have played the older games (as well as those new that are curious about the larger world and larger story arc) have things to latch on to.
I'm not sure about the "The", but I like the sound of Veilguard. I was a bit taken aback at first, but ultimately I love the spirit behind the name change. This "you and your companions - not your enemies - are the heart of this new experience" line sold me on it completely. Companions are my favorite aspect of Bioware games, and I'm excited and hopeful about the direction Bioware has taken with DAVE.
DAtV = weird, but DAV looks like we skipped to the 5th game (V as roman numeral for 5)
I rather like the name. Like, it's to the point: You are working to guard the veil from Solas and probably end up having to go up against an Old God and maybe even one of the other Elven Gods too.
I don't mind the new name, but late stage changes makes me worry about the quality we're gonna get.
Hi Ghil I enjoy you Videos since a Long Time and I am Happy you are back. I Love the bioware games since Jade Empire came Out. They inspired me to become a 3D Artist and I thought maybe If you want I can make some new Video Backgrounds or do you want to use D4 Backgrounds. I thought maybe ITS a cool learning Project for me and I want to get more into the Community
Thank goodness. Veilguard sounds much more fitting, since it is our job to prevent the Veil from collapsing, which is explicitly Solas' goal. Dreadwolf just sounds... not as intimidating as the devs think. Also, that makes the new abbreviation for the game DAV, which is infinitely superior to DAD.
The person in marketing who insisted on the "The" in the title was clearly on red lyrium at the time.
a lot of us, me included, will be at work and therefore unable to attend the premier of the Gameplay Showcase on the 11th, sooooo...could you pretty-please-with-a-dozen-cherries-on-top document what these surprises are in the pre-stream RUclips chat? ;-;
The biggest confirmation for is that we will have companions. I was worried we wouldn't with the popularity of FFXVI and the leaked DAD gameplay that looked like God of War.
Maybe I've just been waiting so long that any news gets me excited.
Thats why they changed the name, they added a more evil more powerful villain then solas at the last minute lol
For one that I will miss Dreadwolf because the new game implies that it will be a out in the open game and I am a slut for stealth based gameplay and that the game is not solely about Solas, as I am an eternal Citizen of Sollavelan Hell.
I'm looking forward to aeeing what they've done! Bit disappointed abiut only being able to bring 2 companions but pwrhaps it'll make more sense when actually playing.
PS It's gonna be great to lose myself in the lore and theiries again, especially with you posting!
I hope the other big bad theyre talking about is the Darkspawn, maybe the last Blight is upon us.
I'm on team Solas... destroy the veil, and give the elves their magic and immortality back
If the romours are true this game will be nothing like a DA, only 2 companions in group, you can only control ur character, battle system like GoW/Mass Effect and Im sure conversations and RPG things are gonna be a joke.
RIP for Bioware
Yea big time. Not the biggest surprise but still depressing all the same
I don't mind the new game, and the The has caused tonnes of memes on Reddit already. From you, I would really love your thoughts on theories on the name and what the 7 factions would be. I personally think Solas will become an ally towards the end of the game because of the bigger baddie.
“I repeat, it is no longer DAD, it is DAV” was probably a lot funnier than it should have been.
I wish BioWare would make DragonAge & MassEffect MMOs along the lines of ESO. That would be AWESOME.
Only two companions? I think of all the things they said that is the thing actually bothering me. Three was such a nice number, why reduce it :(
I refuse, DAD was the best name a game ever had
I don’t mind the title change. Although I would be looking forward to Veilguard instead of Dread Wolf sometime in March 2025.
