Now that I’ve gone through 60 general and very broad ideas on what some of the community would like to see, we can delve right into specific topics in future videos. Send me as many ideas as possible on what you’d like to see on the next hero for a chance to be featured in my future community spotlight video!

My Hero. A plethora of cosmetic options are always nice to have, but for me, those aren't most important for defining my Hero. I want reasons to care about the people around me. Survival of the village matters because its villagers have endeared themselves to me. I want a reason to go back because a cute musician in a tavern winked at me and made me blush. I want to get to know them.

If I talk to someone and they give me a quest I want different ways to solve the problem by class. For example, I talk to a merchant who wants to help me but his staff broke into 3 pieces, and his dog made off with them. If I can track and talk to animals I can get help from the dog. If the merchant's child overhears and remembers seeing the gem being dropped down a hole in a fairy ring, I can polymorph into a fairy and enter the hole. I want side quests to matter and be rewarded for exploration in meaningful ways.
Finally, to live has an 'I' in it. It means taking from my environment the basic needs for survival. Love, however, has an 'O' in it. It means giving of one's self unconditionally for others. I want my hero to be a lover.

I would love to have Carver/Bethany Hawk back as a party-member. Maybe as a romance option too.
It would be great to have one of these 2 characters back in the team, especially it would fit so good to the new story.
Having an ex-grey warden, -templer or -circle mage in your team could open you interesting options for the game and would make us more interested in replaying the game, wondering what would have happend if we have a grey warden Carver instead of Beth the circle mage.
Also who wouldnt want to have a relationship with Carver or Bethany. For me having them as siblings in DA2 was more a punishment🙈😂

I really want my hero to have the chance to be evil. All the heroes we've had have always been good and we never had really a choice. I want them to start off as a villain, not like evil exactly but just not good. Someone that nobody would expect. And people to hate them at first but slowly grow to love them. I don't want them to start off as pure or good. This character needs to be different, or at least we should have a choice whether our character starts off as good or bad.
Also being able to choose pronouns would be great. I do really want to see them meet the inquisitor and have the chance to clash with them and maybe even fight them.
I want there to be more than just two voices, kinda like in origins they would say things differently depending if they were wise, experienced, mystical, etc.
Also being able to help Solas, betraying the inquisitor, would be an option I would like to see. I just want more options that are HUGE and can affect the entirety of the game. So there would be more than just one big ending.
We usually have to do all the work with the companions, I want them to actually want to talk with the Protagonist. To prove themselves to them.
Also, I want to see them as a kid in the beginning, similar to Fable. To see how they got into the situation they're in. It would add so much more depth to the story, going further back than origins ever did.
I want Hawke to come back. Flemeth foreshadowed that they would live, so yeah. Hawke is very much alive.

Hey jack, thank you so much for the work you put into this!
      My suggestion is the following:
I would love to see Origin Stories again and my ideas are:
      - Qunari soltier (either rouge or warrior) who fights in the War against Tevinter. You are either in the position of a soltier (like Sten) or a spy (like Iron Bull)
      - Qunari mage (you are on the run from your home because you are a mage. Because of some talks you had with other Qunari rebels and maybe mage elves who where the children of former converted elven Qunari.
Or you could be a Qunari mage who switched sides but is constantly reminded that they are still a Qunari even though you work for the Imperium.
      - Crow (Human or Elven rouge with the access to the assassin class) You belong to the crows and your latest mission led you between the war fronds.
      - Imperial Noble (Human or Elven mage) As a human you will be respected along the imperium while as an Elf you have a rougher time but the story plays out the same.
      - Imperial Soldier (Human Warrior and rouge) You are not that much respected but have a god status still. More the middle ground.
      - Elven rebel (Elven warrior, rouge or mage) You fight for the freedom of your kin and as a mage you are even labeled as apostate.
      - Dwarvern merchants child (Dwarf warrior or rouge) Your parents where close friends of Varrics and when he hears that they where killed because of a lyrium order gone bloody he helps you out and invites you to join him and his party -> I like this one because it is not you who is inviting but the invited one to an existing party.
      - Grey Warden (Dwarvern, Human or ELven of any possible class) You where positioned at Weißhaupt and trained under Stroud who recruited you right before Adamant was attacked. (which would make him more important and the impact more similar to Alistair or Logain in loosing him in the Void).
Those are some ideas I have and all stories would lead into the ongoing war between the Quunari and the Tevinter and you between the parties. Varric, Cassandra and/ or Leliana (depending on who is divine) will help you out and ask you to join their cause. You are a random person they happen to meet and are replacable but you just happen to be there and since you have no place to go. (Your former fraction is either lost, has betrayed you or not reachable) So you join them to have a save place for now.

For the next hero: I'd really love it if they brought back the MC having real family members. DA2 had the Hawke family with tangible sibling dynamics and stuff like that, and I loved how in Origins each main character had some kind of family (I especially loved Cyrion, Shianni, and Soris for Tabris). In DAI the Inquisitor technically does have family, but they are vague mentions to "my clan", "my mercenary group", "my unnamed parents", but we never meet them or even hear their names, and it felt really disconnecting. The hero's families are such an awesome part of dragon age for me and I really hope they bring it back in DA4.

And maybe some save slots like in Breakpoint. I know it’s a divisive game and one a lot of people haven’t played but the outfit system for you and your teammates was good because it had like 4 or 5 save slots for armour so you could swap on the fly between snow gear, jungle, woodland, raid, recce ect. Without keep going back and re doing everyone’s kit again and again.

I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but when I was playing Mass Effect again, it dawned on my that one of Kaidan's idle animations is rubbing his forehead and that's due to the headaches he gets from his L2 implant. And I thought it would be cool if our protagonist had some physical personality traits and quirks of their own. Ones that fit with their race/class/background/etc. both in idle animations and cutscenes. Like a bored or playful rogue could flip a knife in their hand, or an aggressive personality type could shove something off a chair to make room to sit whereas a polite personality would've just picked it up to moved it, or if there was some trauma in our hero's past they might lock up a bit at the sight or sound of something that reminds them of it. Stuff like that which gives unique reactions and habits to our character depending on how we made them. I dunno, just thinking out loud so to speak =)
p.s. Still hoping we get a pet nug! xD

Yeah, anything to add to the immersion of the game and make it where the npcs aren't just waiting for you do to something but will do things on their own. Would love it if companions did their own thing while they are at the home base area (camp in DA: O, Skyhold/Haven in DA: I, the Normandy in ME 1-3) like maybe they go to the dining area and eat, if they are crafty then maybe they will be at some crafting station making things, or they might head to the forge and maintain and repair their weapons and armor. Such as using a stone wheel or a whetstone to sharpen their blade or sew up some hole in their clothing.

*ahem* *whips out power point slide*
I wanna get one moment where we get to play as the Inquisitor again. Like we cut to the Inquisitor mid story and see how they are drowned in stress and overworking themselves to stop Solas and having to be forced to attend high class parties to make appearances even if the Inquisition disbanded. Realistically they can't completely escape the eyes of the public. I'd rather see them in that state of complete exhaustion rather than disappear like the Warden and Hawke. They have the most power and shook up the world the most out of all protagonists. So instead of erasing them from existence they should embrace their position as bait and act as a distraction against Solas organisation while the new protagonist does the real work behind the scenes.
I want a scene where she (if romanced Solas) nearly encounters him in a masquerade like party while he's in disguise. Seeing him worried or shown a small moment of him seeking a slight glimse of her would break me. Also for one of his agents or the Forgotten ones to nearly kill her for the angst. I want him to show vulnerability.
I want the Warden to return in the back of a griffin with the remaining surviving pack behind them. And for them to tell the Wardens to get their shit together because I want them to matter again.
I want to play as a child of a high class Magister or a blood mage. This way we can directly aggravate Solas.
I want the Inquisitor and new protagonist to clash as playing as a new character can change how we treat older characters like how a majority of people argued with Morigan as the Inquisitor. If I was my Warden I would've given the Well of Sorrows to her unquestioned but as the Inquisitor I put up a fight and refused to give it to her. That's what I mean. I want a gameplay moment idea I heard from another youtuber (The closer looks video on the last of us 2 where they have 2 protagonists that we play as) where we fight as the Inquisitor with our protagonist and mid fight the camera swaps perspectives and our controls go to our new protagonist as now we're forced to fight our more experienced Inquisitor. Or we can pick who we want to fight as if you want to redeem Solas. It would be a jaw dropping camera sequence.
I also want cute romance moments where they show genuine interest in he player so that we are given a chance to customize them even more. Just like in the DA:O system of gifts I want it to be both ways cause that would be heartwarming if they remember the players interests. I also agree that we need more moments with the romance options.
I want more friendship bonding moments cause that wicked grace scene was a personal favourite but it was only a single moment with a few missing characters (I wanted to see Solas play against Josephine). Let us go out to drink with them or go hunting or explore ancient libraries or even attend festivals together.
I want a moment of complete defeat. That scene with the Inquisitor trudging through a snowstorm alone and injured after losing Haven was unforgettable. That scene where the Wardens get left behind to die and Alistair and the Warden are the only survivors? Iconic and gut wrenching. Hawke losing their mother and the Chantry exploding? Changed history. I want the new protagonist to lose their base of operations and for us to lose a location we worked hard to decorate and customize is gone. A near death experience for us. I want the angst.
Thank you for coming to my TedEd talk.

My wish for the MC in DA4: I know this might be asking a lot but maybe more voice actors/character voice choices? Maybe accents based on origins? Like if we are going to have the different origins (Crow, Warden, Tevinter & Executor/???) It would be cool if each origin had their own accents based on where they are from and maybe bring back the option to choose from at least two different feminine and masculine voices. If my crow character is from Antiva I want that sweet antivan accent.

    • @SeventhheavenDK
      @SeventhheavenDK 3 года назад +7

The problem with that is precisely that is too much, and if for some reason people would like to see DA4's protagonist in a future installment, the best thing to do is to keep the voice variable to a minimum. Otherwise imagine how many times the developers will have to record every scene the protagonist is in, one of the many reasons our Warden hasn't appeared again while with Hawke was easier.
Also, more personally, I would prefer the devs to put to use those resources into something more than waste them in hiring many voice actors for the main protagonist.

I'm late to the party but I'm dropping my idea here: I want the game to have unique quests and options depending on your choices, so it's replayable without being too boring because you just end up doing the same things. So Origin stories would already be great, but also more unique quests depending on who you are and what you decide. Perhaps even unique areas to explore, imagine also unique companions, that would be so cool. I always end up playing the game at least twice, usually because of DLCs and because I want to Romance someone in particulat, but I always have the urge to replay DA again and again, but it gets boring since I really already remember everything so well.

    Great video again!
Something I always love doing in bioware games is making sure my character has some level of character development reflected through my choices in dialogue. As a broad example, in Mass Effect I would start off as a hard ass and go full into renegade but as my Shepard grows closer to the people around them they would slowly ease back and start making more compassionate decisions.
So essentially I would like to have options in dialogue that allow me to have clear character progression and growth so my character doesn't remain static and truly feels like a part of their story instead of just being the vessel that we view the story.

@@SeventhheavenDK exactly like I love creating a story like that. I find it difficult to do that on a first playthrough though and would love if in the next dragon age I could have that character progression tied closely with the main story and on my first playthrough if I'm lucky.
In inquisition it took me 3 playthroughs and trespasser before I found a storyline I was fully satisfied with, and it was the (seemingly?) fan favorite female Lavellan and Solas storyline. Trespasser is up there with my favorite bioware content BECAUSE I think the Lavellan/Solas conflict is so damn compelling as it directly affects and changes how a Dalish elf would view the world around them.
I would love compelling changes and conflict directly tied to my character like I got there in the next dragon age, and if they were able to make each character background (if they decide to do multiple origins and playable races again) just as compelling as the other that would be ideal, but I understand that is a tall order. I can already see a tevinter slave that sparks a rebellion but slowly falls into the same practices as their former masters being a fun character to play as. Interesting to see if there is enough freedom to choose "bad" choices that don't solidify a bad ending so that you can create the most interesting story and still have your character do something to redeem themselves after. Really creates that feeling of growth I strive to find in these character driven rpgs.
This was a long comment but nothing gets me more hype for something than this level of pure speculation and wishful thinking. I love it!

What I would want from the MC is clear consequences of their actions shown on their bodies from the story. If someone throws a knife at your companion and there's an option to get in the way to stop it, I'd want to see blood coming out of that wound as well as bandages around it later on and when the bandages come off, I want to see a scar after it's healed. I want to see burn scars if they mess with a gaatlok canon and it goes badly or gets burned by a mage.

They are often cast out to live with their elf parent in alienage. They are called elf-bloods. Alistair from DAO is an elf-blood as his parents are Fiona and king Maric. It was already mentioned, but advanced and diverse body sliders!! It's really frustrating to only have one body type per race/per sex. For the next hero, I wish for what many of us do: that their background has a much higher effect on their knowledge, combat style, perception etc. And of course that they would be more customizable, in terms of body type and hairstyles above all things. And please, PLEASE let them have an actual personality, purple Hawke was a good start but it needs to be more diverse and sophisticated in the next game!

Soo, first off Thank you very much for featuring me
And secondly, as for the new PC there is soo much I wish...
this is gonna be a long one...
    Character:
The balance with dragonage PCs has been pretty much always been between Role-play and Character, the warden being All Role-play (let's Face it most of their personality is head canon) and hawke being a well established character (this made Hawke relatively easy to implement in DAI, whilst the warden could only be possible through vastly expanding the DAKeep) The inquisitor is sort of the perfect balance between the two, which is good for cameos in future games, so this is likely going to be similar with the PC in DA4.
However, one way to add to that would be to make the origins affect the basic personality, for example if you had a former slave from Minrathous you are more likely to view the world like Fenris, whilst a Grey Warden has very strong Ideals about justice and such.
    Customization:
So as my canon inquisitor is a Knight enchanter always fighting at the front line she is getting more and more scars throughout the game, the Idea being to have something of a Geralt of Rivia appearance, so having the ability to add Scars and tattoos on the body is absolutely on my wish list, also I like the System to be a mixture of Fallout 4 (being able to select individual Scars, Features etc.) and DAI ( being able to freely move the scars)
As for armor I really like the Idea of DAI where the companions have their own clothing style (makes sense that Sera would never dress like Vivienne and vice versa) but for the Inquisitor that didn't work out so much for me, you basically end up always looking like the Inquisitor in the trailers, and because you already do I often just go with the helmet too. So for the PC it would be nice if you could sort of choose and maybe even change your outfit style, with certain ones being locked for certain origins (e.g. an antivan crow couldn't wear a Warden plate mail)
    What I don't want:
    A Qunari PC.
Unless it is well implemented a Qunari in Minrathous would not be able to walk a few metres without getting butchered, or constantly being asked questions
    The PC killing Solas
Don't get me wrong, I think solas *HAS* to die in DA4, but his death should be meaningful. I don't like Hawke in DAI saying "Corrypheus is MY responsibility" and then just going to Weisshaupt if they survived.
Say there is a *MASSIVE* boss battle against Solas in Wolf Form, I want the inquisitor to be a part of that and when he is defeated, The PC not just chopping his head off.
This should be a moment for the Inquisitor and Solas alone where...
    1. He dies in the inquisitors arms (friends)
    2. He dies in the inquisitors arms, giving her one last kiss (lovers)
    3. The inquisitor delivers the Final blow, killing Solas (enemies)
...depending on the choice in Trespasser

Honestly, if even half of these community wishes comes true, then we’re in for a truly outstanding Dragon Age game! I can’t contribute anything to the next video though because I’m massively conflicted about who I want to play as in DA4. Every Dragon Age game (except the very first play through) I played as a female human mage and I’m still unsure whether to stick to what I know or challenge myself with a different class or race. (I mean, Solas won’t be romancable, so that’s my incentive to be an elf practically gone 😜)

I would want the process of acquiring specializations to be lengthier and more interesting, and include at least some sort of training, ideally a whole quest or two centered around getting ready to, for example, become a full blown Templar. Players love to feel like they’ve really earned something, and unlocking a specialization they’ve had their eye on for a long time should feel rewarding.
Also, I would want these specializations to make our protagonists stand out in terms of both combat and narrative.

I 100% agree that the Inquisitor should be semi-playable ONLY DURING CUSTOM WORLD STATES. People playing DA4 for the first time won't necessarily care/won't understand. But if I can't get on my knees, in tears, pleading in front of Solas for him to come home, or to join him, or something meaningful for that romance I'm gonna flip a table. The depth of the Inquisitor NEEDS to be considered during what I've been calling "The Confrontation."

And can we please do away with the glowing rings around all the aoe spells, some subtle lighting/shade variations and ethereal auras would do much better. Healing spells and entropy/other schools of magic being brought back would be awesome. AND MORE DRAGONS

I would love for our character to have some personal history with those characters. For DA4, since the new MC is supposed to be "Someone he'll never see coming" I hope it's a spy of his (maybe even an ancient elf) that decides to break ranks and switch over to one of the four factions the trailers reveal. But since I don't want the MC's race locked in, I also DON'T wish this, LOL. So, for the sake of keeping race options available, what if the MC is actually a spirit that gains flesh/decides to take a flesh form, just as Cole did? Or heck how about a Fog Warrior, Avvar, or Chasind?

  • @chargers0001

My list would be as follows.
    1. More diverse hairstyle lengths maybe curly or wavy hair if possible. Better eyebrows please! I don't expect sims 4 level but not every class needs short hair for practicality.
    2. Closure with Solas and the inquisitor if main romance. I managed to utilize in DLC the full romance with Solas and not be in a relationship with him. Then alternating scenes and end up marrying Cullen which couldn't be done before. What if there was jealousy with Cullen and Solas after? What if Solas tries to kill Cullen and you have to stop him?
    3. I would love some underwater scenes or battles like in Witcher 3. The riding on a boat or ship idea sounds awesome as well if underwater scenes are off the table.
    4. I would definitely pay for a black emporium, added clothes/accessories, pet companion bundle like DA 2, and if needed to pay for additional character creation details like hairs. Bring on the brilliant DLC!
    5. I would love the inquisitor to be more than to make a cameo but to be imported from DA3 from Dragon Age Keep as a party member. If it must be a cameo please let it be fully fleshed out. The inquisitor as a character means so much to me that closure in DA 4 is essential.
    6. I would like to see more romance options like the dwarf or female elf option since a female elf romance besides the inquisitor with Solas was not possible.
    7. I loved in DA2 that you had to build yourself up from nothing as a hero with Hawke. That struggle is something I can really relate to and enjoy taking my character from rags to riches and having a mansion isn't too shabby either. But a place to rest and enjoy companion company is wonderful too.
    8. I would enjoy future companion characters asking more questions about the hero for us to answer.
    9. I really hope they keep the warrior, mage, and rogue classes for each race where possible. Arcane warrior abilities making a comeback would be epic!
    10. Last but not least, less random fetch quests and more side quests related to the story or to companions would be huge.

I really want our next hero to have a family (blood related or found family) that we can visit, get to know and spend time with. It would make the new protagonist feel more real and grounded to me if they have people who love and care about them and who we'd would want to actively protect. Its be nice if we could help them out throughout the game too. These family members would also be a great way for us to see how regular people are treated by the country. You could get a glimpse of a slave's life in Tevinter, a peasant's life in Rivain, a merchants life in Antiva, etc, through these family members. I really liked how in DA2, we got to hear what it was like and how hard it was living as an apostate/with a family of apostates through Bethany and Carver. It was the siblings conversations with Hawke or their banter with other party members that painted a picture of what the life of an apostate was like.
The new protagonist's family could also serve the purpose of giving the protagonist a reason to remain unknown and anonymous. If we draw too much attention to ourselves or become too well known, our family could become the targets of our enemies. Remaining incognito in order to escape the notice of The Dread Wolf is a bit weak as far a reasons go. Remaining incognito so as to not drag your family into harm's way is a much stronger reason IMO, especially when the stakes are so high.

I'd love it if the Hero can have a real chance getting possessed.
The Veil is tearing, magic is returning, Bioware now has lore friendly ways to make the protagonist - no matter the class - vulnerable to this. It's not just cool but also important for helping us experience people's fear of magic and spirit/demon. It also gives the Hero a personal stake with regards to Solas' plan: Do you resent him for your possession (or at least vulnerability to it) or are you grateful for the new power? Maybe implement a meter measuring how vulnerable one is to total possession? Maybe part of the backstory customisation is "choose your own spirit/demon" :P
Could even provide justification for interesting (new) classes (like the Spirit Guardian warrior from DAA, Spirit Healer from DAO and Anders in DA2, or some Spirit enhanced rogue class).

What I want from the next hero, A detailed background with multiple options per hero and have those origins change events throughout the game, maybe even entire plotlines become harder/easier depending on your life before. Have your characters history shape events in the story and have solutions to problems available depending on that life. A few examples: As a mage you could start in Tevinter or instead you could be a grey warden in the Anderfells. As a Qunari you could be part of the Qun, A Tal Vashoth or even the worlds tallest Antivan Crow. The trailers have put an emphasis on "the kind of person they'll never see coming" and "this is your story" so I would love to see our heros story before they are put on a collision course with the dread wolf.

I want a faction based origin story, like when you start the game you chose your race/class but the faction you choose is what really defines your character.
Like a Qunari crow, an Elf slave rebel, Dwarf Inquisition spy, but you could easily mix and match any combo, and so your character may or may not have knowledge about their race but they 100% have knowledge of one of the factions. Also, a Qunari with an Antivan accent would be hilarious and awesome.
Would make for really unique character building if done right.

I know you asked for hero, but I still really want to be able to write my ideas down and I missed when you originally asked for what we wanted; so I'm gonna write them here- (I think I might have written about these elsewhere as well but idk)
So, what I want from DA4:
    1. More reactions from the quests- meaning that there was a visible change that came as a result of quests we finish. For instance, with requisitions it felt like we were tossing items into a void and just getting power back; I wish that instead they would go give materials for tents then tents appear and more people show up and then we gain power bc we have more soldiers. I want the items I collect for quests and all the rings and lovenotes I returned to make a visual difference in the game, like I get rid of a beast that is destroying the city and then builders appear and look to be repairing it and there is a little dialogue about it. I loved when you would clear / claim a keep and soldiers would populate it; it was so fulfilling.
    2. I want the gameplay to be less grindy, as I think many others do. Personally, I felt like the landmarks, astranafsdifnsis, shards, AND mosaics was really grindy, if it was just one or two of them it wouldn't have been that bad, but all 4 kinda sucked and I never really used the treasure the astraiumsfdas gave. Also, just like with my comment above, I wish there was a more visual / story development from completing those quests. Nothing happens when you find all the landmarks in a region, but even a short cutscene or something idk could be a nice reward. Or if the mosaic pieces you found showed up in the skyhold on the wall and you could see the progress you made.
    3. I wish there was more interaction with the world around you, like I wish you could scale a wall or cliff; climbing (to me at least) was so frustrating in DAI (and it could just be me), but I wish the climbing system was better and you could climb in ways other than jumping or running / walking up it. I also kinda want to be able to swim if there are lakes and maybe even to climb trees (although this is a low priority).
    4. I agree with everything people said abut spacing out romance, more in-depth interactions, rivalry, etc.. I often felt as though if I didn't get the exact right answer then I wouldn't be able to progress (if that makes sense?)
    5. I felt as though there were a lot of "hidden bars" in DAI (again this could just be me; I am new to rpgs), but I was never sure what my friendship levels were, I wasn't sure what my relationships with other places were like either, idk it just felt like I couldn't tell where I stood most the time. (again, this could just be me)
    6. For the hero, I want pretty much the same as everyone else: a better backstory, more customizable options, more grey areas and a moral compass (idk) type thing , I kinda wish more effort went into learning new skills and magic, etc etc ...
    Ok thank you,

First of all I'm so happy to see new content from you, I've missed it very much, and I hope you're feeling a bit better now.
Regarding the question, I'd expand more on what I said in the previous community poll (Having origins that matter):
First of all, I'm a diehard fan of the origin system introduced in DA:O, since it was so well implemented there, and gave a big replayability value to the game. The main thing this should contain are what your character knows, how characters in Thedas aproach you, and maybe meeting characters later in the game from your origin story. DA:O did really good implementing this feature with cleverly guiding through you most of the origins' location making confrontations regarding the main character's origin inevitable, having returning characters that have some closer connection to you, and usually give them some kind of closure. I'd really like to see theese features return in the next game, and i'd love if they even expanded more on this, for example universally having different attitudes towards your character based on your race/class (eg.: in Tevinter the majority of elves are slaves, and mages have higher status than most, so they shouldn't be approached the same way by anyone in Tevinter.) although I can see this being a nightmare to implement. Having insight into your characters own culture that make some dialogues progress differently is also a huge thing I'd be happy to see.
In conclusin if theese features are well implemented, that could give such vastly different experience playing through the game, and give the opportunity to search and compare some moments in theese separate playtroughs, that would make replaying the game exceptionally fun, and worth the invested time.

One possible origin story I would like to see for the next protag is a soporatti general in the Tevinter army. I have never played as a tank in Dragon Age for any of my previous protags, so this time I'm eager to try out a protag who is up-close, personal, and in the thick of it. So I will likely play a warrior, unless BioWare makes a 4th class, then I will play as that and make it as much of a tank as possible. Then I would have a protag from each class across all four games.

I desperately want for race/class to affect gameplay. Like perks, special abilities (something along the lines of what Bethesda did in Skyrim) or even disadvantages ( like a city elf not sharing information with a human noble or a human/dwarven noble being able to easily persuade other nobles whilst it would be very hard/ almost impossible for other race+ class combos). Or, for example, you start out with a class- race specific combo codex entries that will *only* be available to that specific class race combo and these codex entries are to be mandatory to read. ( Community have a profound understanding of lore and it will not seem out of place for an elf to ask about Mythal)
Also, I want a dwarven/ qunari wife, blood and healing magic back, shapeshifting back, cameos ( even via letters or something) of playable characters/ companions from previous games.
UPD: I WANT MORE DWARVEN LORE!!

Idea #2: Building on the idea of a main character who is a "nobody" (not the chosen one), I think it would be cool to have the hero's default to be that they are also inexperienced in combat and therefore have part of the story be that your companions train you in x-skills. It would be more of a story aspect than combat, although I do love progressively getting stronger. P.S. love this community type of video

I want a hero that is reactive to the world. That means that if they are a crow, they should know about the underground and make use of it. If they are a mage they should comment on the fade and the like. Maybe they have stolen stuff from a particular noble house before. They should comment on new places (or rather there should be options that let them comment about new/old places). Going back to the crow example, you could have an option to comment about a noble house where you have committed an assassination, or an option to comment about the possible ways to enter that house, or mention a different crow did an assassination here.

From what I have understood there are going to be factions, I'd like if depending on your race and class in each faction If you start in the faction if you have different openings, jobs, kinda like in origins, make the character unique instead of always being the herald you could be the orphan from kings street or the knee breaker from the cartel, slave to mage type thing, make it a really dynamic story and actually bring back choice instead of the illusion of choice

Huh, I didn't think my comment would make it into the video since there were so many. Really cool, and thanks for spotlighting it! :)
I'd love to see our PC's have proper introductions with a fleshed out prologue that explains how they came to become part of the efforts against Solas. This way we can make decisions about who our character is and what connections they have outside of the Inquisition/Not-Inquisition(?). Including backgrounds to pick from would be nice, but really I don't mind just having 1 unique start per race and an additional for mages. We are supposed to be starting as a nobody, right? Some examples could be a Tal-Vashoth who refused to kill innocents in one of the raids against Tevinter, a Human or Elven slave, a Human or Elven slave that showed magical talent and have been taken under the wing of their master, or a casteless Dwarf that was exiled to the surface with nothing but the clothes on their back. Instead of a uniform start like we had in Inquisition & DA2, each character would essentially hit the restart button on their lives that would allow us as a player to decide who they get to be from that point forward while still having an acknowledgeable and playable background that leads us into the main plot.
Sorry that this was a little long. :)

I want companions to do more outside of combat. Like maybe when exploring a city a companion might wonder off and talk to someone or do something. Then, when you want to head off you can start to leave the area and the companions will follow and/or you can go collect them from their spots. I also want this to be dynamic so that maybe Varric (using him since he is so recognizable) will talk about his books to a crowd but the next time you go to that city maybe someone in the crowd bought his books since then and wants to discuss something they read with him. Maybe, combat might happen due to your companions. A thief companion might steal from some merchant one time. They will then brag about this shiny trinket they stole to you a while later. The next time you visit that city the merchant will confront you with hired thugs but only if the thief companion in your party. If the thief companion is not in your party and you talk to that merchant, maybe the merchant will comment that a thief stole from them. Maybe even give a description of your thief party member and you can then talk to the thief later on about the merchant.

For the next Hero: I'd like to have neutral choices. My heroes usually struggle because they see the "big picture", instead of a world divided in black and white. Maybe you can profit from both sides and you can change the source of the conflict, instead of picking sides.

Keep in mind that if you have Carver or Bethany in the game they will be middle aged at this point. I would be cool with having them in the game but depending on what year this takes place it will be at least 946 and they will probably be in the late 30’s minimum.

I think the next main character customization slides should have more range. Not only more hair styles, though we definitely need more really long hair fantasy styles, but also more color sliders for different parts of the eyes for more unique eyes and maybe the ability to use sliders to effect the highlights and shades of the main characters hair color so that the colors are more dynamic. Real hair has different shades and sometimes a mixture of colors naturally and should be added. If you enjoy playing older characters it would be nice to be able to decide how much grey or white is in their hair and beards or other mixes of hair color combinations. Maybe even different streaks like Rouge's white streak from the X Men series.

I hope that we as a player will get to decide that the new hero is truly an ordinary person who coincidentally stumbles upon Varric and gets swallowed into the world's various conflicts. As fun and as epic as it can be, I'm tired of seeing the "chosen one" trope reused in a lot of narratives and I want a hero who is utterly riddled with flaws-and maybe even disadvantages (for example, they could suck at fighting or magic, or maybe they're battling from a red lyrium addiction, or perhaps they just have really low self-esteem). It would be so incredibly cathartic to watch my hero grow and I think it would lead to some really valuable companion interactions who could offer support and help, which would be interesting to see since in Inquisition we were the ones who were always offering the help. I want there to be a way to redeem *our* hero from their flaws and difficult backstory and be accepted into a new family of companions.
    Love your videos Jack!

I dunno if BioWare writers are up to this challenge, but for a game with Dragon Age where the political factions are a key part of the narrative, it would be a real achievement if they could do something like Disco Elysium does with the "thought cabinet" and its multiple alternatives for developing on the ideological progression for the protagonist.

I would like to see for the new MC to have a family (or someone else that is important to them) just like Hawke did in DA2. In my opinion the Inquisitor felt really bland as a character from the start because of this. You started the game with nothing and you only interacted with your origin/family through some war room quests that were limited to text only. You were basically alone on this world. I loved the way Hawke was shaped by their family and I honestly felt the most immeresed in the story as a character, as it made you feel more like a normal person than just a superhuman that only lives to save the world.

For the next hero, I would really love to see more struggle and maybe even a personal vendetta against Solas. Like how every possible origin for the Hero of Ferelden was tragic in a way, but some were directly connected to the blight, other characters, or events that came up in the story. I want to feel like the the protagonist is part of this world and connected to it. I also want some possible origins to be more directly concerned with Solas than others. Like an elven protagonist having a personal grudge because of something Solas did that effected them directly.
I also agree, I think we need an Infinity War style defeat at Solas' hands in DA4. We had something like that in origins with Ostagar. I think Haven in Inquisition was supposed to be like that, but it wasn't quite the same. I want Solas to utterly crush us at some point and we have to rebuild and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to beat him.

I want the new protagonist to be more ordinary if they're from a commoner background and not to be the world's greatest hero all the time. Let them get badly wounded sometimes or be full of self doubt about their decisions, especially when those decisions effect other people. Instead of a hero I want a person with failings, think about Antivan Crows, they're assassins not heroes. I'm excited about the idea of playing an Executor, but only if we get to learn about their motives and background.

45 at around 17:40 makes SUCH a good point. maybe thats why ive always liked the da2 romances the best? they like...grow with you. their stories are intertwined with yours. not even in just a romance angle, but the friendships and rivalries too. in inquisition you could just blaze right through characters stories and then youd just have to hope for fun banter to get your interaction fix later on. it was kind of....lackluster. i really hope da4 has things w companions better paced out.

The next "hero" needs the chance to not be a hero. I remember in Dragon Age 2 you really could seem like a bad person with your interactions with your companions, with the Arishok, what you did with Isabella and Anders. Just more mean/bad guy stuff
EX. Give the player(hero) the chance to agree with Solas to help him maybe even join him.

Something I'd really like to see, even if I know it's impossible, is a game with 2 main protagonists, a double narration. I am really interested with playing a new protagonist, but I also would love to see the story from the inquisitor's point of view, knowing how much he/she is involved in the plot. It would be amazing to have, for example, two options when starting the game : playing as the inquisitor, or playing as a new character. It would be a sort of double game in one. 🙃
Or, for those who have played Heavy Rain or Detroit: Become Human, a narrative style like this would be great too. It would be so interesting to have different parts of the game played with the two different protagonists.

For the next hero: I'd love to see Origin Story's come back in an even better way than in DAO. I'd love to see an almost completely opposite story to Inquisition. What I mean by that is that in Inquisition you got pushed into being "The Herald of Andraste". You where seen almost as a saint, a messenger from the Maker. In DA4 I'd love to see the protagonist portrayed as a villain in the early parts of the game. All of the origin story's could all lead to some kind of situation where you have to make some kind of difficult decision where there is really no "right" answer. This would mean that when people criticise you for your decision later on that you'd really feel the impact of their words and doubt your own decision. Rather than just being falsely accused of something that you just didn't do like in the beginning of DAO.
This would also mean that deep relationships with companions could be a lot more impactful. If you for example romanced someone or befriended them and told them about this decision that you made that you regretted (or didn't regret) they could then use that as ammunition if you had some kind of argument after breaking up/falling out. I think this would make you as the main protagonist feel more real and less like some perfect person that was born yesterday and never made any mistakes in their life. Similar to how in DAO your Origin story's would effect the game later on, they could add a moment in the later parts of the game where you have to make a similar decision where again there won't really be a "right" or "wrong" and the people you've told your history to will either understand and sympathise with you or critisise you if they have offered advice that you have ignored or something along those lines. This will all obviously depend on the personality of the character that you romanced or befriended as well as whether you expressed that you regretted your decision or not and then whether you decided to do the same thing again or change your decision.
A cool thing they could do if they done something like this as well is some sort of mission similar to the Tower of Magi or a more in depth version of the Gauntlet of Andraste where you get to see all the things your companions regretted and they get to see your history as well.

What I want to see is family. I want my MC to have a life before joining the fight against Solas. I want them to have a family that I can grow attached to like the Couslands from DAO (like one of the first things possible when getting to Ostagar is asking about Fergus (and he comes back at the end of the story)). For me, the best part of DA2 was spending time with the Hawke family (mostly Bethany). It's was so easy to get attached to Bethany and Carver that I loved bringing them on missions (so much so that I brought Bethany into the deep roads without Anders during my first playthrough (biggest mistake ever)) I even loved poking at Carver to see how annoyed I could make him at any given moment. Anyway, I want my MC to have something to fight for beyond the whole act of saving the world. I want them to have parents or siblings that they strive to protect. I'd even love to see them having past lovers that be brought up in the story (like how the city elf origin was supposed to get married). Basically, I just want my MC to have a reason to fight beyond saving the world. To me that's too broad a topic, I mean it's important but it's not the most important thing in life. Don't get me wrong I love connecting with companions but I also love a good family dynamic.

What I want for the next game: I just wanna romance Varric, that's literally it, I always try my best to be best friends with him
Next hero: I would love the option to do something in the customisation where you give them a basic personality "stoic, funny, kind" stuff like that just so they feel like your character straight from the beginning instead of having to build it up throughout the game with their start personality playing into how the react to different scenarios and how the other characters react to them

I want there to be another broodmother like section where the whole area is creepy and all you can hear is muttering that soon becomes more clear as you get closer to the source. The whole chant the dwarf woman said about the broodmother really made everything so much more creepier. Since, without the chant and meeting the woman; the broodmother would just be some random boss not the horror story that it is.
I want there to be choices in the game where you have no idea if you made the so called "good" choice. Like the choice in the Witcher 3 where you get to decide if a village of people, including any children, will die or if a small group of orphan children will die. I want the choices to be in such a gray area that even after several play throughs you still have no idea which choice was the better option like the Witcher 3 choice I mentioned above.

I caught this video several weeks late, but I’ll go ahead and contribute a few ideas just for the sake of it.
    1)
While I understand that DAO's origin stories primarily existed to introduce players to the world of Thedas for the first time, it got a bit old for the Inquisitor to always have the same fixed background determined by their race -- humans always being wealthy Trevelyans, elves always being Lavellan, etc. To that end, I think a worthy and logical compromise would be something similar to what Mass Effect 1 did -- that is, choosing a backstory for your character in the creation screen.
If I'm playing as an elven mage, let me choose between starting as a clanless apostate, a Keeper's apprentice, or a former circle mage. Let dwarven players choose between being surface-born or thaig-dwellers. Let Qunari choose between being born into or outside of the Qun.
This would greatly increase replayability through the types of unique interactions and relationships your character could have depending on their chosen background.
    2)
Though this one might be more logistically complicated, the ability to robustly shape my character’s personality through dialogue would be a dream come true.
We all know about the dialogue wheels in Dragon Age II and Inquisition, but the set personalities of Hawke and the Inquisitor are still very apparent regardless of which line you actually choose. And while Inquisition occasionally let you choose different dialogue "tones" (angry, sad, anxious, etc.), this was still quite simplistic.
I'd love to see a more diverse range of dialogue choices which each reflect a distinct personality trait -- bold vs cautious, cerebral vs emotional, private vs outgoing, confident vs awkward, world-wise vs naïve, etcetera. (I obviously don't mean that ALL of those should be available in every interaction, just the ones that would be situation-appropriate.) And I'd like for the options I choose to gradually influence my character's overall personality in the long run, kind of like in DA2 but with more nuance.
I'll use romance dialogue as an example. Instead of having only a single “flirt” dialogue to choose from, you'd have a choice between flirting options that are more awkward, subtle, playful or confident. And each available romance option would prefer one approach over the others, adding more strategy and depth to the romance mechanic.
This would go a long way toward making my character truly feel like "mine", and making every new playthrough of the game feel like a genuinely one-of-a-kind experience.
    3)
I'm hoping to see a greater emphasis on specializations that hasn't really been seen since Origins. Instead of being limited to having just one or two specializations, I'd like to find new specializations while traveling through the world, learn new ones from other characters, or unlock unique ones through story choices (like blood magic in Origins).

For the next hero, I know it might be difficult to implement but I think it would be cool to have mixed race options to play as such as half human/elf, half human/dwarf etc. I know that the human trait is the dominant in these cases and that's why people like Alistair and Kieran look fully human, but I loved how they added more elven features to Feynriel in DA2 and would love to see this type of detail in DA4.

I'm not too sure if this has actually been mentioned before, but something I am strongly hoping for is party banter that actually involves our protagonist, as in the casual conversations with companions, that they'd usually just have with each other, whilst just travelling around. This would be a great way to add immersion and see how your relationship with companions develop depending on actions also how your general personality is forming (humorous, aggressive, kind, as I feel these are the main categories the MC tends to fall in), not to mention the party banter between you and your potential love interest would make me positively melt, not just conversations that involve other people asking about your romance and then you making a small comment like in DAI, but your love interest talking directly to you and then you actually responding and conversing with them e.g, LI : "please stop jumping from high spaces and giving me a heart attack" MC : "Aww are you worried about me?", also maybe you'd even involve yourself in another conversation that brings up you or something that relates to you, for example if someone were to talk about their dislike of mages to another mage companion and your character were a mage, you could actually give your input or even respectfully remind the one who brings it up that you could happily turn them into a flaming pile of ash if they don't shut up, there were a lot of missed opportunities with this in DAI (Sera disrespecting dead elves to Solas, Sera saying "it's bad enough that you people do it at all" to Dorian in regards to magic, Iron Bulls views on Tal Vashoth with Solas etc...). DA2 I felt definitely involved this type of stuff the most especially in the Legacy DLC, but it still wasn't as much as I'd have hoped. Overall anything that brings more personality to our character and more insight into relationships and political views would be amazing and I feel MC involved party banter would be a great approach, it seems definitely possible but dependant upon how many voice options our character has and pronouns.
TL;DR the MC being part of the party banter would be great.

Honestly as exciting as a new protagonist might be with possible previously unseen backgrounds, I would be very happy if I could just be my Lavellan again, she's my favourite of the bunch at this point, and I enjoyed Sera's romance route so much that of my 12 playthroughs I've gone for her in 10 of them. And she really grows as a person inbetween DA:I and Tresspasser, so yeah, being Inquisitor again would be grand.
But since we're talking about new character possibilities, I would love to play as a former elven slave with magical talents from Minrathous, especially if their "master" was someone in a postion of great power, but actually from Dorian's resistance and treated you an equal behind closed doors, but for the sake of appearances would treat you horribly in front of their guests and this would fuel some personal drama.
