    The BSOD is due to an 'upgrade' to a kernal driver. The update is from Crowdstrike.
    It appears that the wrong file was used in the update. This might not be correct - news is still coming in. We know Microsoft approved the update and it has been tested extensively so suspicion has focused on the version number. Someone sent a beta version to Mircosoft who passed it on.
    Millions of machines have been affected in including big servers. Banks, airports and others have shut down.
    One trick that may work is repeated reboots of tye machine. Up to 15 may be required. A patch has been issued but because its a kernal bug the machines have to be fixed manually. This is going to take time

      @@epicchess2021 Another method I have come across is to reboot the machine in Safe mode and delete a particular file and then reboot the machine again.
      Safe mode in Windows is a minimal kernal version that allows one to do things such s access the file system. Most users will never have used it. This is probably a Good Thing. You can damage your machine if you don't know what you are doing.
      This method does require at least two reboots of the machine and as far as I understand cannot be automated. In short i this method is sued its going to take a LONG time to do the thousands if not millions of machines affected.
      If you do want to try this please make sure you know what you are doing first.

      All you have to do is Boot to an external USB and delete the Crowd strike files in the sys directory. Multiple reboots should not ever fix this. I don't know what you're talking about there. Sometimes you can do command prompt. With F8 but I believe USB is the best way to go. Virtual machines Running on Esxi of course are easier, Just attach to the vhd and delete the crowd strike files. It should really take less than 5 minutes. Of course that's 5 minutes per machine.

    • @davidmitchell3881
      @davidmitchell3881 2 месяца назад

      @@forgeteverythingyouknow5413 the reboot suggestion apparently came from Microsoft. I cannot speak to whether it works or not as i thankfully have not had this problem. I remember installing an early version of Internet Explorer. It nearly killed my machine. Multiple reboots - and i do mean multiple reboots - got it working again. I have no idea how this worked. I presume it had something to do with the registry - i knew nothing about the registry back then. Im guessing Microsoft might know something about the effects of reboots on the machine - at least a lot more than i do.
      Of course if you were sensible you would have a Real Operating system on your machine 😀

    Using a VPN to leave this comment because I just watched Fabiano’s beyond-hilarious 9-move humiliation of Alireza. I’m begging you to make a video out of that game. You have to. The best part is when Fabiano starts laughing before Alireza even resigns. I honestly wonder how long Fabi had that opening in his pocket. I assume he just came up with it in the recent past because playing it is so irresistible. That being said, maybe Fabiano had an ax to grind with the Ayatollah-fleeing, fashionable Frenchman and sat on that opening until they faced off. It’s not often that actual chess play makes me laugh (that’s something I rely on your analysis for), but that game brought the chuckles out. Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed at *just* gameplay before. If Fabiano gets disgraced in the worst imaginable scandal, he’ll still be a legend for styling on Alireza like that. That was legacy-defining.
