    Oro's remarkable progress over four years raises (for me anyway) an interesting question about the relationship among chess, math, and music. There are no literary prodigies--no one has written The Sound and the Fury at age ten--but there are many examples (e.g. Fisher, Ramanujan, Mozart) of early genius in chess, math, and music. I have read about pattern recognition in chess, which makes sense, but how many games has Oro played? Enough to allow him to "see" the right moves, or is his ability intuitive? Probably not a question of interest to most people, but how the brain works with these formal systems that are both rule-bound and creative seems endlessly interesting.

    • @epicchess2021
      @epicchess2021  18 дней назад +3

      yeah he's played an incredible amount since aged 6 when he got into it in lockdown plus modern sites like chesscom give him access to endless puzzles and strong players so it's super charged his talent it seems

    • @AnthonySouls
      @AnthonySouls 17 дней назад +7

      IMO, prodigies all share one this thing in common: They have fantastic memories and pattern recognition, which helps with abstract thinking. I think that's really what it comes down to, Memory. Math, music, chess, all takes great memory to be good at. A lot of these areas have a visual memory component. With literary areas, it's more creative, I think, and experience driven. Like, Grammar, spelling, sentence structure seems less objective than chess. Like, rules change and it's organic and contextual. Math is objective. There are clear cut rules. Music is math kind of intersect. Chess has a lot of pattern recognition and defined rules. So yeah, I think it just comes to memory. I was pretty good at chess and math when I was younger, but I'm trash now. Memory is trash, too, lol. I think my memory could only take me so far. My pattern recognition? Trash. There you go. There is my theory to throw into the mix.

    man, I just wanted to compliment you - unlike hundreds of other "social media chess celebrities" you are concise, rather explanatory, focusing on the important stuff, i could get most of it under 10 minutes, the crucial ideas and all
    other people are like "check those 10 important moves that you HAVE to know if you want to beat Carlus Magnussen" and proceed rambling for 30 minutes while going into countless digressions that are just impossible to understand and memorize in one sitting anyway so what's the point, not to mention they thin the soup with so much water of blah blah blah
    gee, it's like they want me to spend time watching them talk and show me ads, not really teach chess or share in amusement at master play
    jglad i have an extension to block channels entirely from search results, i can block out their stupid noise

    You should just call him "Chessi" just like Lionel Messi is only really called Messi, especially since Lionel isn't this kid's first name and one-word names are more powerful
