Britannia was my go to certainly for bullion trading as it was designed to global standard in terms of purity and traded size. In terms of proofs nowadays charging so heavily over spot there is arguably less ability for the mint to not vary the design yet expect the large premiums. But then the effort to get truly iconic coin design whilst maintaining the sov original purpose of dependability and fungibility as old currency runs counterintuitive to doing that with the sovereign unless the occasion is spectacular. Thanks for the videos always look forward to them!

Why is it that the clear display case the Sovereigns come in are always damaged? Can't they get a small detail like that right at the mint?
Hi does anyone know if the royal mint are bringing out a 2021 bullion sovereign or is it only the proof ones
I always feel like the Royal mint have gotten the mintages the wrong way around with the sovereign and the half sovereign.
It just seems wrong to me that the smaller sovereign is more rare.🤔

Wow!! Those are beautiful coins. The five coin set is out of my price range. The three or four coin set is doable for me. If I buy them, they will actually be the first modern Sovereign purchase for me. I’m an old school Sovereign buyer, but these might just tempt me to change my ways. If I decide to send Sovereigns to you for conservation and grading, what would be a ballpark price for the entire process? ONLY .916 purity .. Unlike the Britannia which is .999 purity
The price of gold here in the UK is slowly on the way back down ... It was up to £1574 an ounce back in August 2020 .. It has fell back down to just £1317 an ounce (As of 14th Feb 2021)
What price do you think it will "Bottom out" at before starting to go back up .... I am predicting a low of £1170 an ounce... But that is just a guess.
I have £7k to invest BUT you have got to buy when the price is low ... Think I would rather have my investment in the form of Britannia's than Sovereigns ..I think they are just an average looking coin.
£7K buy's around 5 x One ounce gold Britannia coins at the moment (As of 14th Feb 2021) But I recon Gold will drop to around £1170 an ounce.. Which means I will be able to get around 6 x One ounce Britannia coins for my £7K.
Remember it is ALWAYS going to be gold bullion ..It is not like buying a car or a sheep phone that will be worthless in 5 Years time.
What price do you think I should buy at ???

Iv got my 2021 full sov, its a bog standard bullion coin and looks great.
I've also got some proof sets at bullion prices, they had red spots, cleaneded up with cotton buds and WD40.
I don't have this beanie baby mentality, mines more a value for money.
If you invest emotionally, parting with your assets becomes painful.
There are just way too many coins to keep up with let alone purchase; I will be sticking with the strike on the day sovereigns and The Great Engraver's series.
I like everything about the Sovereign except the association with the queen.

Average looking coin. Like you said, nothing special. It's like the gold eagle and gold buffalo, they don't produce any excitement except for the simple reason you're collecting more gold. There are many desirable coins out there with more eye appeal. You collect them b/c they are guaranteed by the mint. I think the high premiums will cause a drop in interest for sovereigns and others when the gold price inevitably falls to previous levels. But that's just my opinion. I could also be wrong and you could see the coins become wildly popular.
