These recaps are a gift! 🙏 Great battle, Hikaru!
RAR approved! Go HikRARu!
cheap exposure comments here we go again lol, just kidding, u do u
@@ReachByteBurst even if you're right, I still agree with the sentiment. I don't recall any other candidates doing this before. Id love for all of them to do something like This
@@ReachByteBurst wat
FIDE should require these recaps from all the players instead of the interview.
25 moves and still in preparation. Sheesh!
Another amazing game.
Basically if opponent also plays top engine moves you can even stay in prep till the endgames. Super GMs remember the complete top engine move branches
I play e4 and then I’m out of my prep and have entered ‘freestyle mode’
@@anderson7271 i feel you so muchh
@@anderson7271 Just like Duda
@@anderson7271 best prep
Props to Ding, for playing 25 moves into prep and not making a single freaking mistake.
Woa, it is true that in chess one must never underestimate an opponent, the match was so complex, well played.
Such a tough field and super impressive play from every single candidate!
I mean if you underestimate a player at the candidates there is something wrong with you...
@@svenpoletka5236 Well, there is one candidate that has seriously let themselves down.
@@thesnackbandit Does his name ryhme with Sally Reza Cantuja?
Nice to see Hikaru playing to win: second place = last place
He's going all out to give us the match of the century against Magnus
Monstrous prep, countered by monstrous defense!!
well said
Hikaru just got Ding on a bad day , or for Ding , a good day . Credit for fighting till the end but also bailing out at the right moment . Caruana and Carlsen both realised to their horror that when Ding is in a mood , he simply finds the best moves regardless of preparation and if you overpress , you lose . Best of luck for the remaining games Hikaru .
Yeah, after having a rough tournament naka unleashed hell similar to alireza did to naka the other day but ding liren reminds us why hes 2800 and holds the game. Must be upsetting to get 2 whites and draw them both when you feel like you might get a win on both of them.
Stfu
Ding has been underwhelming since beginning of comp. Nothing changed. Hiki just isn't Fabi/Nepo good
@@israeladeola6398 Do I smell some Salt?
@@israeladeola6398 your totally immensely wrong ding played very very well in this game he didn't get in hikarus traps nor anything while in the other games he blunders nor in other words does an innacuracy
@@israeladeola6398 what's your elo?
Real ones know the original title :
Dear youtube , sheesh, ding played perfectly
5:22 It’s the wooden shield! xQc really left his mark on chess. A recap like this could certainly be studied in the far future, leaving historians to go, “Huh?”
By then I'm sure wooden shield would at least be somewhat understood as a joke gambit
The wooden shield is not a gambit:)
He still calls pawns juicers
8 rounds to go, you can certainly do it!
No he can’t
He has already missed wins and lost
He will fail
@@bobdole7292 pathetic thinking it's over already, Hikaru has a winners mentality and is known for strong finishes. Don't give up hope Hikaru ☺️
@@georgeK963 I've been loving these recaps! He's incredible with the analysis on every angle. Hikaru will bounce back ez
@@bobdole7292 I would be be so certain. He has an uphill battle and the odds aren't looking great, but he has pulled crazier wins out of his hat before. In 8 rounds, it is absolutely possible that Fabi and Ian will falter a few times, and that Hikaru will pull off a couple extra wins
It is unlikely, but mathematically it is still possible. Never say never. Even if he can secure 2nd, if Magnus declines to defend, he could still play for the title.
Amazing play, I'm just completely blown away by your playing in this tournament. How you were able to prepare so extremely well while being a full time streamer is beyond me and shows a work ethic that I can't fathom.
It's unfortunate you had to face the strongest versions of multiple players this tournament but there's still so much chess to be played.
he clearly wasn't full time streamer for the past month
@BottomFragger
Ur level of ass-kissing and stupidity is beyond me. This guy plays chess for 30 years at top level and still u ask dumb questions. Hilarious and sad at the same time... U r blown by what ? 0 score so far ? Nakamura once was top contender, but never was really there and he gave up... Streaming made him refresh and take different approach so he is still where he deserves to be...near the top,but never at the top of classical chess. I dont really get ppl like u... Kissing ass, talking bullshit and praising ppl just to be what ? Look smarter talking about chess ? Get into the chess crew ? Get recognition ? Just stating stupid opinion ? God damnit... He doesnt understand how top level chess player plays fairly good chess.... This world is full of idiots...
@@georgedizol452 I don't know about twitch he posts daily on RUclips
@@georgedizol452 But all other participants have been preparing for much more than 1 month...
Completely blown away? I mean, he's played well, but completely blown away? Maybe trying for some fanboy points lol?
SHEEEESH! Another great recap. Thanks legend and good luck in the next game💥🙌
Ding plays perfectly against preparations at the highest level! kudos🙌💯💯
2:44 Hikaru 'Much to my Horror' Nakamura... I think there's been a moment that provokes that reaction in every game he's played so far! Here's hoping that it'll only be his opponents who think that in future. Stay sharp, Hikaru!
I think we can all agree that it is truly a blessing to have someone who is one of the best chess players in the world be as down to earth and chill as Hikaru.
Amazing to see how a super GM recognizes structures in their games which can be obtained from different openings - like when Hikaru showcases how a similar position can occur from the open Spanish. Truly mindboggling how elite these athletes are
Incredible how you find the energy to do these really high qualitiy recaps right after the games. And fascinating to get these insides into your thoughts and incredible calculations during the game. Amazing, really. Thank you so much! And good luck for the rest of the turnament!
Not very often that we get deep post game break downs by the competitors themselves in any competitive arena. It really is great having a top player breakdown their own game.
You did amazing, Hikaru.. You can take the W in the next game for sure! Go, Hikaru!
Your Chess is amazing keep playing push yourself to the limits you can still do this GO HIKARU 💯😼💪🤟
Ur doing great, keep it up
This recap is too good, the position and variation that didnt appear on the game are all amazing. Have a good rest and more great games Hikaru.
It’s like having a personal friend in the candidates matches.
Best of luck in the remaining games!
Thanks Hikaru. When I was trying to learn chess I had to wait 3 months to get any chess news in Chess Life magazine. I would spend hours going over what analysis was in the magazine. I could never have imagined the best players in the world explaining their games like this. Love your channel.
Being a fan of you, i was switching youtube live feeds to see live analysis of your position. Wish you all the best, i started learning chess seeing your channel. It is literally amazing watching you contesting in tournaments..
Amazing job Hikaru. Winning the tournament is definitely not the whole world. As long as you always give us surprise and shining moments, you are the best in our hearts. Keep fighting!
Wow this is my favorite game of the candidates so far. Well played on both sides. How deadly ding’s passed pawn was was impressive
3rd favorite now?
i played chess when i was a child and started again in 2018. i watch a lot of yt contents and everytime i think i'm decent (i'm 1700 elo more or less) i realized how professionals players are completely on another planet. thanks for the recap!
Cool to see you playing such good chess on the biggest stage, keep it up!
now you know how alireza felt when you played perfect defense
You can still do it! 8 more rounds and We believe in you!💖
Well played Hikaru, Ding is in good form and you found the right time to draw after he found all the best moves.
so interesting to hear that even you prepare very well, it's not enough to push your opponent out of his comfort zone. Well played and thx for the instructive analysis. I keep watching all your recaps.
‘You never know what might happen’ - we’re all crossing our fingers for you Hikaru!
Incredible defense by Ding!
Ian being ahead isn't the end of the world cause you will get another bite at it, but dang if that is not a frustrating game. Off-beat line and he finds everything.
But it happens. Good shot and well played!
Keep it up!
I tried different styles depending on who video I was watching, but I see now ,your personal unique style can be there,as long as you have a game plan
This video just shows what absolute maniacs these super gm's are. Remembering all these lines, calculating every small move to the point they know its not working. Its so complex but astonishing to see.
This happened too in 2020 candidates ding vs caruana. Caruana played computer moves and ding played the perfect chess
Amazing insight! I loved the whole recap and the balanced way of explain any position (for example the comparison of open Spanish with one of the game positions). Thanks, It is a privilege having this recaps!
6:50 wow hikaru sure is fast with the mouse!
I think Naka will have the greatest come back ever in this tournament ❤
he'll have to win against ian and fabi in round 8 and 12, and not lose any of the game from round 7 to round 14, and hope that ian and fabi will get more draws than wins in the next 8 rounds
difficult task i'd say
It might still be a contender for top 3, which is a lot better than people were predicting.
Nope. It's a Nepo-Caruana show.
I think Ding was afected to the time change between spain and china in the first match the guy is a calculation chess beast... interesting that Hikaru was the attacker but suddenly Ding launches a deadly counter attack. Engine Evaluation: Hikaru 99.2% Ding 99.5% accuracy !!!!
Thanks again for the recap
Ding really looks different now
Yoooo! Hikaru's commitment for RUclips is phenomenal!! playing his biggest tournament of the year . He takes time out of his prep and makes us these amazing recaps. A salute to his dedication. I wish him beat of luck 🍀🍀🍀 for his game against duda.
Breath taking insight.
His prep was basically a whole game.
I'll say it again: UNBELIEVABLE that you are doing these daily recaps of your Candidates Tournament games. Absolutely awesome.
I'm rly glad Hikaru is taking winning the tourney rly srsly considering tactics like "oh Ian would win, so I should go for a win this round too if I still want a chance"
Love it
Too bad, it didn‘t work out. Thanks for the recap. You are a great guy. And i‘m rooting for you. Go get it, Tora! Hikaru for the win!
Amazing performance by both of you, beautiful game with so many tactics and tricks, an almost flawless spectacle.
Candidates are tough, there wasn't anything better you could of done other than randomly choose another 25 move preparation and hope Ding doesn't play perfectly with no room to breathe.
Good luck Hikaru and enjoy your 'rest' day! :)
by far Hikaru's best videos are his recaps, and not regular games. he shows lines so deep im starting to think he's even better in chess than i am
You are really humble. Credit goes where credit is due, you both did an amazing job. Hope some miracle happens in the other matches and you can bounce back.
We’re with you no matter what happens. I think I speak for anyone when I say I just wanna see good chess
Thank you, Hikaru. I'm watching the candidates live for the first time and really enjoying the games. As I'm pulling for you, it's really cool to get your insights after your games. The commentators are great, but your own annotations are obviously to be preferred. Thanks for the video.
Whoa... Opening, prep, 3 different lines at every moment, tournament strategy; behind the thinking in a world-class game. Master's lesson
So good to watch these Recaps!!!!!!!!! Many many Thanks for doing these Recaps inspite of having such a busy schedule.
Lovely recap! Rooting for you! You’re the best!
Just to clarify @ 12:35 Yes, at that point checkmate is unstoppable after the move pawn to f6 blocking the exit before taking with the queen, after that, the only moves available for black are sacrifices to stall.
I'm not a big fan of yours, but I find fascinating how quick you analyze a game like this and explain it like it was a 1st grade math. Also, I'm glad to hear you express your respect towards Ding. Now, I gotta be honest, what made me click on this video was the utter hilarious thumbnail, and it's even funnier since you both are asians. Well done, GM Hikaru.
its amazing how you played and same goes for ding. all of you are raising the bar a bit more higher with every new game
This is by far the most impressive prep I have seen in this tournament so far. Of course it was met with nearly perfect accuracy, but you should be proud of this one!
Another awesome recap. So very interesting to listen to the live commentary and then to hear your actual thinking (even if i can only follow small aspects of it :-) )
I have to study for my upcoming Uni entrance exam so I haven’t been able to follow as closely as I wanted to but I’ll still be cheering you on all the way, Hikaru. We all believe in you, You can do it!! ✊✊
What a battle. Thanks for the recap Hikaru. It’s incredible how talented all of the players are in this tournament.
for someone that is not active as he used to be hikaru still impresses
Sheeesh, what a great game! Grateful for the recap as always!
Your commentary, giving us insights into your thoughts, is _extremely_ helpful for our learning process.
Thank you so much!
Yeah, cant do much more when the dude just played solidly every move
This was great play from both of you, glad to see you still on top! I can't wait to see what's prepared for tomorrow!
Wow this channel is gold! Thank u so much Naka
Take a shot everytime you hear "much to my horror" in these recaps
staying strong wait for the right time to pounce
Wow thank you for taking time out to do these recaps they are truly amazing
You say you don't care but in chess this is as good as it gets well apart from being world champion
And you sir are in the mix
Thank you for letting us be apart of your journey
Very well played by you both. But....For me it is fantastic to hear you say, I was keeping an eye on the other games and with Jan looking like a looming win you was determined to keep pieces on and play for the win. In such a huge tournament against the world number 2 that is courage. Good on you Hikaru, loving your play, your attitude and your skill. Good luck next round!
Gm Hikaru. Really Complimented Gm Ding in his yt title. That must be an impressive game!
Awesome commentary analysis. Love to watch these after every game. Best of luck, Hikaru. Sounds crazy, but I think someday you'll be the champ. Go get 'em!
I am a huge Agadmator and Gothamchess fan.But after watching Hikaru's analysis I am actually understanding more about the game on a deep level rather than just enjoying.Huge respect
- Finds time whilst being the world’s top chess streamer to qualify and prepare for the Candidates’ Tournament.
- Prepares and executes an absolutely tortuous 25-move opening that forces one of only two players ever to break 2800 to use all his strength to make a draw.
- Immediately makes more video content about the match for all of us.
Incredible.
Small correction: there's been 14 players who've broken 2800, including Hikaru himself among them.
@@georgebrantley776 Sorry, quite right, I got overexcited. That’ll teach me not to drunk post.
you can do it Hikaru - great prep and thank you taking your time for us and sharing your thoughts, really unlucky both Ian and Nepo got freewins today...
Ian and nepo are the same person
Fabi and Caruana
Excellent Hikaru. Great. I really enjoy what you are doing. You are the best.
The scary thing is Ding has been down since Nepo lost, this might be the game that boost his confidence
Good fight Hikaru! All the best! I am rooting for you!
I came here to say these recaps are unique. Also, your current twitch channel trailer should be on preface. Those guys who made it don't get enough credit, it's so amazing. Should be the official trailer for the whole Candidated Tourney 2022!
Disfruta de tu día de descanso en Madrid y buena suerte en la siguiente ronda.¡Gran trabajo hoy consiguiendo medio punto contra Ding!
It was a joy to watch this live. Thanks for offering this recap
loved the speed to get the time edge. wish it had worked out! more chances to come!
Phenomenal mindset, great inspiration, love it!
Ding: *plays perfectly
Hikaru: "Disappointing".
Gosh, I'm just amazed by the class of hikaru and ding, far out!
Very cool breakdown, Hikaru. GL in the coming rounds.
His pronunciation of giuoco is amazing
It's jo-co
Jo like In joy
Co like in coconut
Thank you Hikaru to take the time to analyze with us your amazing games, you are a great champion.
bro the prep was ridiculous keep it up
Your phrase "much to my horror" always gets me. New negative catch phrase.
Incredible how after his prep failed, Hikaru played into a worse position intentionally for winning chances… and then only made the draw at the last possible moment.
Also easy to take for granted Ding’s literally perfect play against very tricky prep. Fantastic game from both!
First video I've watched of yours. Really enjoyed it.
Hikaru out here playing bareknuckle chess and getting right back home to give chipper, fulsome overviews. SHEEEEEEESH
So amazing how many different lines you can find from any given position
He explains in a way that I can actually understand. Hikaru is the best. You can still win.
In the position at 11:16, Ding could play Qb4 instead of d2 and after the Rd1, Qe4 follows to protect the king. Here he could seize the initiative.
Much love and respect Hikaru ! hope you win the event
I really hope you win, incredible content. its nice to see the possibilities from all angles. i enjoy the stuff where you meme the fuck out of people but you got to the where you are by being a genius chess player. cant wait to see the finish
