Hikaru just got Ding on a bad day , or for Ding , a good day . Credit for fighting till the end but also bailing out at the right moment . Caruana and Carlsen both realised to their horror that when Ding is in a mood , he simply finds the best moves regardless of preparation and if you overpress , you lose . Best of luck for the remaining games Hikaru .

Small correction: there's been 14 players who've broken 2800, including Hikaru himself among them.

I came here to say these recaps are unique. Also, your current twitch channel trailer should be on preface. Those guys who made it don't get enough credit, it's so amazing. Should be the official trailer for the whole Candidated Tourney 2022!

Incredible how after his prep failed, Hikaru played into a worse position intentionally for winning chances… and then only made the draw at the last possible moment.
Also easy to take for granted Ding’s literally perfect play against very tricky prep. Fantastic game from both!

In the position at 11:16, Ding could play Qb4 instead of d2 and after the Rd1, Qe4 follows to protect the king. Here he could seize the initiative.
