This video is so much better then your older ones. Way more professional and actually teaches people something. Good work fellas. Btw I'm an 80 1HDT guy and i didn't hear any bad words about them haha
Good to see everyone getting dirty and not just letting Dan do all the work. Not that I really mind, it means that Dan gets more screen time and I get to stare at him for longer.
Hey lads great video and helped me out! Just curious you mentioned the spring underneath that changes the rear breaking when you lift the vehicle. What's that spring called and how to you adjust it according to the lift?
Hey guys, nice video. I got a rare GU SD33 made in Spain from the transition from the 160 (as it's called here) and the next generation 260. I don't know if I have a rear LSD or not. I lift the rear axle and spin one wheel and the other one spins in the other direction. But, what if I just habe the wrong oil? Any idea to check what diff I have?
Great video boys keep em coming...very knowledgeable..i watch all your episodes. Love it.. Now about Toyotas, the most reliable cars built world wide..even in America where Rams and Chevs are built.. The Toyota Tundra and Tacoma are still the highest selling after the Ford F150. Rams and Silvarado in America have a shit resale value compared to Toyota.. Just saying haha
Thanks Michael! yes well James wants to get a chopped 3500 RAM from the USA for parts for a new Patrol build! from the sounds of it they don't seem super expensive!
Hey mate this was a rippa vid very helpful cause my 1995 gq ute is getting front and rear diff lockers atm, done a few things to gq’s but never done diff oil haha how far below the fill plug do you recommend?
@@lennypersin3574 The rear Diff needs specific LSD oil, but as the front doesn't have a LSD you just use differential oil as it doesn't need to be Limited Slip differential oil!
I wish u guys could help me with my Patrol in Germany.. but u are damn far away! I really love my y61- but unfortunately something is constantly broken! Now I got problems with a rumbling rear axle.. Best wishes from Hamburg
well you could tack weld a nut onto it and ratchet it off, Or you can use a torch to heat the bolt up and remove it. or could try pump it out though the filler plug (not as ideal tho)
Just a little suggestion make sure your fill bolt comes out before taking drain plug out
Thomas Blanch I agree
Great tip mate!
Dan the Man has some good knowledge and tips. Great vid like the banter keep em coming please.
Thanks Jack! We love making them!!

do a detailed video on how to adjust the proportioning valve please =P
Should ALWAYS crack the filler to make sure you able to fill it before you drain it.
yeah definitely good advice! better to check then to be stuck without any oil in her haha!

Thanks but what was the reading of odometer?and did you replace the oil before or it is first time?!
Didn’t realise Dan could turn so red like ever 😂
Only just discovered this Channel and for the most part I fucking love the videos, but my god James has literally no fucking idea and it shows 🤣🤣🤣
How do you fix the rear brake proportional valve? I have a 6inch lift in my gq
You can buy or make a plate that lifts the lever to its original position 👍
Cheers legend
jordan mc carragher
Just cut it off
So extend the plate 6" of you have a 6" lift?
11:01 Ayyyeee😂
Yeah boys!! 😂👌

you fill it basically until its coming out the fill plug!
Aren’t you supposed to undo the fill plug first?
What’s the reason for the different oils to the front and back?
Love the vids lads
front diff had a locker, the rear had a limited.
Yep Joel nailed it! cheers boys!
Thanks boys. So if my cars just standard at the front should I use the same oil as the rear?
@@lennypersin3574 The rear Diff needs specific LSD oil, but as the front doesn't have a LSD you just use differential oil as it doesn't need to be Limited Slip differential oil!
Sweet thanks. So 80w-90 gearbox & differential oil would be suitable for front diff?
i own a zd30 with a nice leaking transmission XD
sick video btw !
😂 oh love it 👌 cheers Darb!
1998 GQ? Didn’t they replace the GQ with the GU in 1997? Not that it matters lol just wandering if I’m wrong now
What did it cost for all the oils and filters
Uncle Steveo filters were $130
$90 for diffs
Engine was something like $140 with coolent
And gearbox and transfer case were around $100
The patrol takes so much oil!!!!
haha best patrick service video every safty thongs are de best

How do I know when the diff is full or at the correct level?
When it reaches the height of the filler plug
Nice, I learnt some shit out of that.
Cheers Gary!! more to come!
