I like how yone and yasuo are hyper carries but are complete bs champs
I'd love to see a video about anti-carries, things that win games by just making it real hard for the enemy to do their job, since they're distributed across a few different subclasses.
I never thought about any characters as anti-carries, but that sounds like such a good video idea

I felt the Hydreigon rant. How did they expect you to ever use it in game? Ghetsis had to have his be level 54 and 52 just so he could have it. Lance did this with Dragonite, but only in the Jhoto games because of the fucked leveling curve.

Irelia only needs 900g for her powerspike, and her 3 item core = vamp scepter, pickaxe, recurve bow (+625g)
It's hard to be a late game carry when most of the time the game ends before lategame
Thing is, hypercarries would be viable if your team naturally sacrificed themselves so you could become fed.
But in league, people don't do that
Olsen Fernandes If you play with friends it happens, because they know if you can carry them or not. In SoloQ, it does not work because people don't want to risk to basically guaranteed lose the game if the Hypercarry turns out to suck at the champ/macro/the game, whatever, you get the point
@@Wavinto Yes, it's sad that's the case.
The first MOBA I played was Vainglory and in it the "ADC/Hypercarry/Late game carry" were always given the highest priority. It didn't matter if you had to die for them, it didn't matter how much farm you had to give them. Your No. 1 goal was to keep them alive while killing the enemy carry.
Btw, the carries always carried since mechanics and positioning were as natural as breathing for them and unless the enemy had a good assasin/jungle/support, the carries would have free reign.
@@olsenfernandes3634 yes but the problem in lol is you just can't have 1 carry is to ez 1 champ to get perma cced and die and when he is the only one strong the whole team crumbles that is why most of the gold is split between the adc,top and mid
@@skelet8337 We did the raise the puppy style when 5v5 came out too.
We didn't have have any problems. But you just reminded me why.
In VG we had an item which we built 90% of the time called a "Reflex block".
It's basically a LoL Barrier spell that blocks CC. It has a 45s cooldown on its shortest Tier 3 item (Ageis).
The Tier 2 version had a 75s cooldown.(Standard Reflex Block)
Then there was the version support buy (Crucible), which basically gives all allies you see on your screen a reflex block when you activate it. It had a 90s cooldown.
So yeah, we could block CCs for 0.75s. So it was harder to CC someone who knows to use Reflex Block properly. (High Elo players could do that consistently)
Edit: It won't block CC if you've already been CC'd
Yeah those artillery mages sure at similar to air support, no other combat unit type, like say, oh, I don't know, artillery.
Nice one Vars lol.
Great video tho.
I'm stupid XD
@@VarsVerum what do you consider most assassin champs? Specifically Evelynn. Is she a hyper carry to you? Just curious and wanted to know your input cause it seems like most lower elo players dont seem to know how to play around her to where she can get can a few kills, get fed, and gank sufficiently. To add, like it also takes your laners to be noted of control wards and getting rid of those along with you too getting rid of them to prevent anyone spotting you and killing you on sight lmao but which it might be a lot to ask for when they have to worry about other things in laning phase. Not to mention her one shot capabilities are more so at or close to a full item build and unless you afk farm for 20 minutes you wont get that far unless the game goes on for awhile longer. I feel like she has no real cc except her ult kinda? And since she’s squish she has to peel off enemy champs one by one or has to protected. If an eve has to go in like a tank, something isnt right lmao she’s not like Kat or Talon where they have the capability of going in to proc off health BUT if most enemies are low and she can go in and ult…. Its just not as common to see that in game; but besides that i just wanted to see what you would think and if you would put her in the hyper carry category too cause imo shes really strong and her stealth is a great mechanic tool to have for skirmishes and teamfights, its just i think kind of hard for other players to set up scenarios around her to get her really fed and nasty so most eve players have to find the openings and the enemy they wanna kill for themselves and not really depend on their teammates unless ofc, you have a team where everyone is doing s good job!
Anyway vars, great vid and ty!! ❤️

I’d add Vladimir to the list because of just how hard he scales and he provides no utility whatsoever. He also needs his team to play around him because he has no pressure in the early game and he needs his team to engage for him (unless he can flash onto a carry of course).
Edit: for all of you saying that he has a damage amp on his ult, I want to say that it’s kind of a “win-more” mechanic. By that I mean many people don’t know that he even has a damage amp and it’s not a mechanic that people play around like a Lissandra R, Malzahar R, or Azir R. You just drop it in a fight and it lets both yourself and your teammates do a bit more damage. Also for the slow on his W and E they’re both pretty bad because they’re both slows with low range that require large health costs. Azir, Yone, Aphelios and arguably even Vayne have better CC than Vladimir.
Totally agree!!!
he provides some utility with his ult being able to make those who get hit by it take 10% more damage from all sources.
Also, what about Karthus, Gangplank, and Yasuo? Idk if I would put Fiora there. She scales very hard for 1v1, but in team fight she is garbage. She is more like Jax, a split pusher, with maybe an even shittier team fight.
I see your point and agree with most of what you said but he technically has a tiny bit of utility since his R causes all enemies affected to take 10% more dmg from everyting and everyone his W also slows enemies by 40%.
I also agree with the fact that he needs a team but again as it was said in the video every champ needs some support when teamfighting. no champion (except maaaybe a fed yone) can just run at people and kill them with no counterplay, usually the best counterplay to a carry is CC but if your team has no CC well then that is more or less your fault since there are only 7 champs in the entire game that have no hard or even soft CC (those are Ezreal, Katarina, Master YI ,Lucian , Sivir, Nidalee and Kai'Sa (not counting items that provide CC like Serylda's on EZ.))
Vladimir obviously isnt a strong earlygame champ but that doesnt mean he cannot kill his lane opponent, a lvl7 vlad with hextech alternator and electrocute can probably oneshot any midlaner as long as he has an empovered Q and ignite to prevent them from healing up his burts.
And with the new season 11 items, protobelt is very strong on Vladimir since it gives 30% MS for 1,5 seconds combined with nimbus and the flat MS from cosmic drive he is pretty fast when get to "blow his load" on the enemy team (even more so if he runs ghost ignite as his sums)
@@empicamper Most mage hypercarries provide some utility. Azir with his knock back wall, Cassio with her ground and stun, Ryze with his root and teleportation.

Also, Vlad has an average of 48% win rate in URF so I guess it's not just me
Because like in a game where you get flamed for absolutely no reason, you get pressured to do something just to stop your teammates from flaming you all game.
you mean something like muting all of them ? :p
Be confident in your decision making and recognize when a teammate makes a good call or when they make a bad call
If they start flaming just mute them
Jungle role in low Elo in a nutshell .
@@sfglim5341 Pretty much this. If you put your feelings aside and look at things objectively, it usually isn't very hard to tell if something is a bad play or not. If they whine about shit because things aren't going their way, mute them or ignore them. If they're making a valid point(even if there's flame associated with it) use that to better your gameplay.
Honestly people flame for no reason.
You can fucking 1v9 and you'll still get flamed.
11:38 once, i was playing aram with 3 friends. we got a lulu, soraka, janna and nami. The random 5th player got darius.
Somehow we convinced him to go full lethality and damage, no health/armor/mr, while the other 4 went full support.
When darius engaged the enemy, his small healthbar would go to full to nearbly empty in a second, but then he would get like 3 times that healthbar in shields and heals.
The times he got killed, it was a disaster, we would have 5 deaths without killing any enemy
But when we managed to keep him alive, with so many movement/damage/attack speed buffs on him, he would melt the enemy team in seconds.
He got 3 pentakills in that game, and we won.
Thats not a hyper carry, thats only an assasin with so many buffers. A true carry can 1v9. Watch how medusa in Dota 2 can 1v9 if she is level 30 with 100 agility stats
@@axylrhodzbompal4018 Yeah, but carries in dota scale much better than the ones in lol.
Yi in his strongest patch could never 1v9 as well as a fed mordred, medusa or terrorblade
im surprised Vlad wasnt mentioned at all in this video, he scales so much and is the first champ i think of as a Hyper Carry
I think the difference between low and high elo and how hyper carries are played is particularly evident when you look at Fiora. In low elo, she's the 1v9 hyper carry, but in higher elo, the very same champion is delegated to a separate (yet crucial) role of sidelaner. Basically, the only hyper carries that are stronger in higher elos aren't even really hyper carries, just in lower elo.
Except yone viego and gwen conveniently
While yes gwen is a sideliner, shes also a teamfight hypercarry at all elos
Kayle is also pretty strong in pro play, or so I've heard
me: why teemo?
me 2 seconds later: WHY TEEMO?
No, seriously, why? He's a crappy champion that can't do anything.
He said hypercarries are champions who suck at carrying. So yeah, teemo fits
Try dealing with a fed teemo that puts shrooms in genuinely beneficial positions, constantly camps the enemy jungle, and can kill you in 3 autos at max attack speed
because you can play teemo in every way, even as an unconventional hyper carry. I envy you for not witnessing the hell that is a fed teemo tho
@@manu241019 Oh no, I've seen a fed Teemo. I've BEEN a fed Teemo. But he doesn't qualify because he is incapable of scaling properly into the late game.

I don't think Riot are destroying the game but I'm rather totally convinced, giving hypercarries self-sufficiency literally breaks the game ( bugs and shit like that ) along side destroying the ( already destroyed ) mental health of the player base. This is what we humans refer to as "Hell".

I'll argue against Fiora being a hypercarry (in your definition), as her teamfights are generally at best average. Yes in a 1v1 or even 1v2 she can basically win always, but fiora isnt really the 1v9 teamfightmonster you define hypercarries as.
I had a rly good fiora on my team a while back and i shoud say , she actually had really good team fight which i was rly surprised to see . She never died , not even in 1 v 5s...
Once she's itemized with her hydra and other items, a good Fiora feels unkillable in a 1v9 situation
fiora is insanly strong in teamfights, but really hard to pull off, if you are not one trick and wanna play fiora, just stick to split pushing
and another thing is that fiora is by no means weak in early
every single answer to my point is: i once saw a fed fiora 1v5.
yes. That happens. Yesterday 1v5ed the enemy team on renecton, Does that mean renecton is a hypercarry? no, i had 32 kills in 30 mins. every champ is broken when fed.
Fiora can teamfight when she is ahead, as she buys bruiser ish items that allow her to be very tanky and deal a lot of damage. but her overall strengh decreases significantly if there are more than one stun on the enemy team, as her survivability(life steal) only works if she deals damage.
Theoretically you can teamfight on yorick, but you have to be really proficient or get a lucky flank. the same is with fiora. Her cleanup is insane, but in a regular 5v5 she doesnt kill tanks quick enough, doesnt heal enough and cant reach the backline quick enough to be of any use.
@@RB-xc9wg just so you know, you just told me that champion that can deal over 80% enemy target maximum health as true dmg in close to 1-2 seconds can't kill tanks fast enough
and the thing is, fiora is not engage champion, if you engage with her, don't get surprised you get bursted down and killed
if you can wait for your engage, have mechanics to proc ultimate fast enough and can use your parry, then your fiora is nightmare for enemy team in teamfight, but things like this just don't happen in silver elo

And the game is unfun cuz some kiddo tryna carry with a master Yi, it's like dribbling through the whole enemy team alone in football.
Epic video, I love your voice, finally a RUclipsr that doesn't make me go deaf.
On that list, I would add Vladamir as a hypercarry as he's one of those champions who's kit revolves around only benefitting themselves, they are more of a champion that doesn't really do a whole lot of damage without a few items because of the way his kit is design, let alone that like vayne, have exceptionally good scaling and pose a massive threat in the late game. And more of these champions you listed can do the 1v9.
I aould also include Twitch into this list as well for pretty similar reasons to vayne.
Completely agree with you
Great video,200 years/10 i would personally like to see a video on infinite stacking and maybe a series were the wereabouts/pros and cons are layed out by role example:top has alot of split push and mostly frontliners but is decided from champ select
I absolutely love the faded out yone pic when you said no one can 1v5
6:26 I think you should separate Fiora, Gwen, Yone, Viego, and possibly Kai sa from the list. They don't require the three item minimum as you say, and can even be favored early in more than a few matchups. Yes they can 1v9, but they don't require the same amount of game time to come online. I would also put Jax in this category.
Agreed. The list might also be missing a few ADCs (Jinx and Twitch especially) and maybe some mages (Seraphine comes to mind). Yone and Yasuo probably have the strongest two-item powerspike in the game, so it seems odd to describe them here as requiring three to four items to succeed?

Really cool video, I share the same idea as hypercarries on the botside got nerfed a lot not on the item side ( I feel like closing a kraken on almost every adc does his work) but most likely on the level side. Riot nerfed way too hard the exp of the bottom lane, which makes scaling way harder in a season where every item scales with stats (just watch kraken dealing more damage as you get more ad). And ads do get their powerspikes in the late game levels which they never achieve
I am very curious why Katarina didn't end up in this group. Full on dmg and only dmg is all she gives. She either does to little dmg to be meaningfull, or scores pentakills.
she was on the list, she is definitely a pentakill 1v9 champion but because she snowballs the early game, not because she outscales other champions like vladimir or kayle do.
As a kassadin main I agree, his level 16 isn't as strong anymore since enemy yone can go 0/16 and still one shot me late game because yes

I just wanted to let you know that your channel is my favorite. Not only as a basic and huge knowledge base, but as a whole. 👏
Thanks Robert! :D
Some of them are so frustrating to play against, because they do so much damage and are difficult to hit and shut down if they get 1 or 2 kills, but others basically do nothing
Yone is a mistake, I hate him even more than Pyke somehow.
When he said that no champ cant 1v5 all enemies simultaneously i thought about yone and then laughed when he faded in.
As a Kassadin player I honestly feel the only time he really lacks agency is pre-6 this season.

the champions themselves are fine, it's the mentality they create that's really unhealthy both for climbing and for the community. You get fed one game and get a million kills, so now every game in the future where you do nothing is not your fault, it's your team's fault for not giving you every single kill.
Please make a video about true damage, the pros and cons, why it is needed, how to mitigate it and such

Lmao I'm not sure if it was intentional, but it's funny that the fact that Kayle gets more wings as she levels up and hydreigon gets more heads as they level up line up so well
oh I see
@@N12015 this man gets it
I'd argue Kayle is a utility hyper carry.
Although she probably has a weaker early game than most of the champs listed like Gwen, Yone etc, she can keep her teammates alive from assassins or from being picked and her W is comparable to a Soraka heal with an 80% MS buff, which is very useful to your team. She can buff your team like a support does while doing insane damage as a hyper carry.
don't forget that q slows down and reduces armor and mr. If she didn't need so much exp and gold, it would be great as a support.
I feel like if you use your r on anyone other than yourself you throw
@@larbi253 True, most people dont use it properly
playing Azir with a team that doesn't play around him almost impossible without his ultimate and a corridor to protect him.
That seems accurate.
Rarely feels like how my laning phase goes with Fiora doesn't matter so much. At one point I was literally only winning games where I lost lanes and losing games where I won lane...
Enchanters need to get all of their items removed, players jailed and abilities removed. Then hyper carries will be fun and more playable.
I'll never get tired of vars backhandedly or subtly hating yone
Is it possible to add the track names to the video information/description in the future? I find myself liking a lot of the tracks, but I have to hunt/hope someone mentions it in the comments and dig through pages.
What do you mean this video is 3 years old already? I swear it showed up on my youtube notification yesterday.
At this point I really have no idea why supports exist anymore. Let's just all be broken tank dmg dealers and that's it
so sett/pantheon support ? :3
@@echo8545 yeah. That kind of "support" *winky face*
vayne is literally just ranged master yi
Ranged Fiora, but better
I know you specifically mentioned that some people might consider certain other champs being hyper carries but I'm surprised vlad wasn't mentioned. A vlad with even a few kills early feels so horrific to play against as he sinks into a pool and one shots everyone with AoE.
question: if you guys would have to guess into which category of video would Karma appear which one would it be?
why no one plays?
perfectly designed?
Teemo? He's gonna provide a lot of utility, even if he's 12 levels down.
Hypercarries needs to be gone on moba games.
Not a fun concept of a character type since;
1.For allies, it basically having a sure weak lane for laning phase and possibly giving up early objectives.
2.For enemies, its having a time limit before having 75% chance to lose due a hypercarry in late game.
3.For audiences, having to watch an esports match where half of it are just farm simulator.
There's already objectives that gives out huge leads like RH and Elder, its unnecessary for hypercarry champ to exist in a MOBA game where they can single handedly kill everyone, its a team game.
So... It has clear weakness and strengths... And just because something is boring to watch doesn't make it bad, i guess?
-There a bunch of grind related games, especially rpg, but this doesn't means that they should get ride of them-
Slow down/Speed up the game pace so this way the hypercarries can't/can grow isn't a team work? Also, despite the hypercarries being known as 1v9 machines, they are better with the help of their teammates than without them...
Wait hyper carries can be shut down totally by focusing them early lmao
People saying you can kill them early and its a clear weakness,I doubt a player with some iq will let themselves be killed early when their champ is a scaling one.
Its just a matter of them playing tower defense while waiting for jgl.
@@arntry8072 it’s easy to abuse people who sit under tower all day...
Let’s take top as an example, it’s sett against nasus.
Nasus knows he’s not gonna win so he plays tower defence. Problem is the wave is always pushed to his side, goood thing is since jg always starts bot most times, sett can slow push the wave into the turret get a 3 minute cheat recall come back to lane with a starter item. Problem is when u have that much lane Dominance, as long as u know where the enemy jungle is you can control the wave. If enemy Jung is bot u can slow push the wave now so by the time he comes top side the wave is pushing back to your tower. Or if jg is already top side and u just noticed, you can just shove the wave and back up to the tower. More over sett’s jungle will have lane prio so he can do whatever he wants in top side enemy jungle. Punish their jungler. So now it’s essentially 2 people that are getting punished because one lane couldn’t hold prio. By the time leaning phase ends, nasus will be stupid low on CS and gold. No matter how much of a scaling champ u are, if you’re against someone with an item advantage. More likely than not ur gonna loose. Considering how much prio sett will have. It’s easy as cake for him to roam and have a lot of global pressure. At this point there’s no way for nasus to get back no matter how much he scales.
This can apply to any lane. Even jg. This is why scaling champs like nasus, yi rarely ever see competetive play. It’s very easy to punish them and shut them down from early on.
@@lemon5501 interestingly enough this applies even more in dota where you can kill your own minions to deny the enemy
And less in smite where you get passive gold from minion kills and can clear the wave in 1-2 abilities on every character
Is there going to be a video about catchers? I think theyre an really interesting class
I think that the defining traits for hyper carries are that they are splitpushers.
You should've added tryndamere
I am an EUW Kass one trick, and smurf a lot, consistently reaching diamond and peaking in masters, and at least in terms of Kassadin I disagree. You don't need to literally 1v5 a teamfight to win, you need macro, that's what makes them seem coinflip to a lot of lower elo players, they don't have macro, and end up taking every team fight. There does come a point that playing a hyper carry isn't as rewarding as other champions I do agree with that, but below high diamond, no. You just need to learn macro.
ADC feels so useless when the game is decided before you have a chance to come online.
I understand you
Lane bullies next plz love to hear your thoughts on gangplank!! Thanks for the content my liege
Great video and I loved the hydreigon rant.
I hate Ghetsis >:(
@@VarsVerum his soundtrack is cool though ;)
"No champion in LoL is capable of taking on all 5 members of the enemy team simultaneously alone within reasonable constraints"
Irelia would like to know your location.
The only true hypercarries are : Twitch , vayne , kog , kayle and of course master yi. These dudes will take over the game late. Kassadin is not a hyper carry , its an assassinb with insane scale. Ryze the same. Viego yone , yasuo and fiora are fighters.
The Pokémon rant hit me on a deeper level, why did they have to do my boy hydreigon like that
I love this video. There is absolutely 0 bias, 0 mindless hating on any champion. It's all factual and observant. Love it.
Except Yone.
Well.. He does deserve it ngl, and this is coming from a yone otp.
Hey what's the background song being played? (I wanna add it to my spotify :) )
btw bro i at bronze should i play like hyper carries or top lane champs like wukong/malphite
id add fiddlesticks because of his 1v5 potential and constantly being a threat when a team fight breaks out because if you don't know his location it can turn very quickly.
I think one trait most hypercarries have is that they are very difficult to build against. Most of them bring mixed damage and %health damage (vayne, kog, gwen, yi), and those that don't probably just have obscene amounts of damage (kayle, kass, kindred).
And maybe a then vs now series, you can for example compare the ADC role 5 hears ago vs now
If you talk about balance nightmares, will aurelion sol be in there? Kinda think he deserves to be put in something like that.
As usual, an informative and to-the-point video 👏
I agree to most of the points that you have put forth.
But I strongly disagree to your point that Teemo is a hyper carry 😂
As a Teemo main, I know for a fact that a fed Teemo's shrooms are scary.
But if the enemy team gets control wards and oracle lens, Teemo becomes a useless champion, irrespective of him being fed or not.
But rest of the champions that you have mentioned are textbook Hyper-carries 💣💥
Awesome video, keep up with the good content 😘
I've gotta query you classing Teemo as a hypercarry - sure he get a lot of shrooms at level 16+ but he's more of a hyper anti-carry then, isn't he? He's entirely defensive at that point, like Heimer.
He's defensive but like also does a shit ton of damage
