- Chicago Police responding to the friendly fire incident around 10PM Wednesday night 10/20/2021 at the Citgo off of Harlem Avenue in Lyons Illinois.

You know what sucked is when CPD asked surrounding suburbs for extra police help if they needed it, they all denied that request, but here you see a ton of Chicago Police responding outside their own jurisdiction
CPDs guys got shot not a suburb cop, that's why they rolled
Truth: CPD helicopter was following a murder suspect from Chicago into Lyons. The suspect vehicle stopped at a gas station in Lyons and police took down the vehicle when the suspect got back in it. There was a physical struggle with the suspect and one of the officers had an accidental discharge which hit two officers. Radio traffic was shots fired, two officers hit 10-1, 10-1, 10-78, etc. When there's a 10-1 any available responds. Chicago 8th District is literally 3 minutes away south of the gas station on Harlem.

You aint wrong, spoke to my buddy who was on scene. It was scary but calmed down quick. Couple hundred cops doing nothing at all once it was under control

And when they all get there, they stand around talking. Same here. Lots of cops responding and then on arrival they all stand around.
Ture but when it's not that way it's bad. Where I live we had one happen that turned into a six hour hunt with several further near shoots, police vehicles destroyed and more from the shooter. They where still pulling in further assistance from towns hours drive away when they finally got the suspect.
Unfortunately the suburbs assisted CPD all the time. But about 7 months ago CPD encoded their radio frequencies, so we can't hear if they have something close. CPD and the surrounding suburban police were angry about that. We are all blue.

CPD has over 1k officers on shift at a time
Yeah this is a Good Catch from CPD, its kind of something they dont hold the intersection for other units like CHPD, LAPD, and NYPD but every agency has its own policy of how they respond to calls.
CPD is more of a full tilt send agencies
officer down calls it is really hard to get officers to hold short and let others go ahead of them. Get there at all costs kind of response, especially for 2 down.
