Bully for you but that's a violation in most cities. Just seldom enforced. Car horns are warning devices & not for intimidation, impatience or scolding.
@Itz_Cyclone Gaming Which is why we use them, as a WARNING DEVICE to ensure drivers are aware we are proceeding through an intersection including against a red signal or potentially blocking traffic. You are correct.
Chicago fd your service and time and efforts are deeply appreciated thanks to everyone who responds keep them safe out there in the windy city of Chicago job well done you should be proud appreciate you guys terrific catches as usual way to go ! Joe
Nice capture. Glad I stopped by a few of those on my trip to Chicago earlier this year. The castle looking Station 98 is my favorite next to the water tower.
my brothers father in law retired from CFD, 30 years on the job. his name is Leo Kehoe. i think he was at Truck 3. Tim is his son in law, we both served as volunteers with Lyndon FD in Louisville KY. i know that Leo also worked as truck driver to support his family on his off days. i knew him personally. a great man. he went into fires with no air pack on one fire and almost died. they made a rescue that night.

I can remember going on a field trip to the Chicago Fire department Station in the 80s when I was with the South Bend Indiana Fire Department Explorer Post Good Times
I realize driving laws vary from state to state but it makes sense to me as a Californian that cross hatches painted on the street mean "don't stop here/do not block".
I'm from Quebec, Canada and it's the same, but the amount of people who seem to not know that is honestly mindboggling... I've seen some firetrucks literally push cars out of the way a few times because the people didn't seem to care 😐...
Ambulance is the most popular ones they have to go get somebody from somewhere and rush them to the hospital all these traffic block their ways sometimes make them slower
Yeah, it is Engine 18 in real life, but on TV with Chicago Fire, it is better known as Firehouse 51 home to Engine Company 51, Rescue Squad 3, Ambulance 61, Deputy District 2-2-6, and Truck Company 81.
Nice collection of Chicago fire appliances/apparatus mate, Chicago has always been my most favourite US fire department since the first Backdraft film. 🧑🏻👍🏻🚒
Recently stayed by this house in Chicago in a hotel several blocks down on Dearborn. Great place to stay for buffing; not so much for getting a good night's sleep! LOL
If you hear a siren, it's people coming like the cavalry to save people. We don't use sirens when people are dead. We call the ME. So be glad, if a bit annoyed, when you hear the cavalry's bugle. By the way, Chicago is on Lake Michigan, not Erie. Just joshing you.
@@posthumousc4913 Agreed but too much noise & people tune out, buds in, leave reality behind. I was taught years ago in EVOC to avoid continuous use of warning devices: sirens, air horns, profanity. We would run late at night without anything but emergency lights slowing to clear intersections. This is less practical in a city like Chicago but moderation is a virtue.
The captain of engine 42 told me to get on the Chicago fire department. I think I’ll stick with the small towns 😂 these big city guys are a different breed
I support the people that are in the fire department services and the police department and rescue and emt department services love and respect you all for your service that you do
The CFD are the best if I lived in Chicago and worked as a firefighter I will probably want to work at the fire station where backdraft was filmed or where Chicago fire was filmed
Has Q, uses electronic version, of the Q, that they have. Now we have Q’s, i use electronic siren, but not an Electronic version of the Q that i’m not using. This paragraph brought to you by the letter Q
Green & blue lights are more visible in various conditions so are being added all over. We hate to admit the Europeans were right about anything but EU standards keep showing up in US recommendations. Reflective chevrons on the back for instance. FDNY's newer apparatus have a blue light now.
I lived in Norwood Park in the 70s. The local station there still had the quarters above the truck garage with the brass fire pole. Saw a demo during a class field trip.
It is a snorkel paired with a rescue there used to be snorkel squad and normal squads due to budget cuts and no staffing they combine them to be two-piece squads
Visited the water tower house in 1986, Great bunch of guys, They arranged for the Hendricson Morita to come to the station and I was given a tour of downtown in it. Even got a chopper ride from midway.
It’s less of an engine and more a snorkel, and yes the crew of squad 1 is split between that and 1a, so they always respond together, or else they’d only have half a crew
The fact that nobody follows the rule of don't stop in the painted area in front of the station... even though the stop line and the word stop is painted before the bay doors...
0:25 Yeah that's the engineer driving Truck 3 Blasting the horn like this... "Hey, ladder truck, come in through, move over please. I said move over, headed to an emergency. Aye, what part of 'move over' Don't you understand, get the fuck outta the way!!!"
It was built in 1904 to match Potter Palmer's Castle, in those days there were no bridges in the area and North Lake Shore Drive was a settlement for the super wealthy.
The reason why i stay away from big citys cuz if i stay like only 1 day ill be up all day THANKS TO THE FIRES THAT HAPPEN THERES RARELY A SINGAL MEDICAL
The last part with the 2 Apparatus Returning To Quarters was a good "rap up" scene, the fact the CFD Ambulance was also Responding at the same time was a good way of showing Fire Departments are never truly "Off Duty" their just "Off The Clock", same with Law Enforcement.

You got the firehouse of Chicago Fire as well, nice one mate 🧑🏻👍🏻
Truck 81, Ambulance 61. Man down for unknown causes. South Blue Island and West 13th.
Shame you never saw captain Casey, LT Severide or any of the other 51 crew😂😂 but awesome work keep it up

We cannot block any special vehicles such as police ambulance or fire departments when there are in a real emergency

It's a busy downtown area and you would NOT believe how many SUPER important people there are that need to get down to the next intersection.
Nice video and nice looking apparatus, and really love those new e one ladder trucks ..👊🙌🏼🚨🔥🚒
The way they lay on the horn is just something so angry about it I love it
yep, but you'd think the crew would stop at the 🚦 and wait for it to turn green (like everyone else)

ladder 3 was once a 2002 pierce dash 100 rearmount ladder truck
Every siren has its own Errie sound And it gets to me everytime once I hear it knowing so many people died in the city Especially with the Ambulance
Sirens are good sounds. People can be hurt in silence. Sirens are the sounds of people coming to help.

I just went to a Chicago station today I saw truck 3 and engine 42
Hello, i'm truck driver in Belgium :) Thanks for your job for this vidéo I love :) It's my dream to come to Chicago
Cool seeing the train horn 1:15
Love the last clip. Ambulance gets a call. Squad gets the priority of backing into their bay first though 🤣
Love how the guys @4:18 in the Squad ladder truck nodded at you! Love the video!
Just what we needed man
The person blocking the box in the first one is the bane of my existence
Hold on, you stayed in the hotel across the street?! Dang! Hotels downtown are EXPENSIVE.
The firehouse that engine 18 came out of looks very familiar on a TV show based on the fire department in Chicago
Yes Chicago fire was filmed partially out of that firehouse in the early seasons
0:26 truck 3 and engine 42 got blocked
The captain of engine 42 told me to get on the Chicago fire department. I think I’ll stick with the small towns 😂 these big city guys are a different breed

Epic fd vehicles but every one of them got A siren lol. Even the chief car 😅
Bad city but omg i wasn't expecting a train horn on that rescue squad love the rotobeam lights

Amazing Catches
That’s unusual to see a fire engine or truck have blue lights to the front
Depends on the part of the country, Midwestern states tend to have blue lights as well as reds on their rigs.
Not as unusual as you think.

The fact that nobody follows the rule of don't stop in the painted area in front of the station... even though the stop line and the word stop is painted before the bay doors...
