Thank you for the very positive reaction to my latest, greatest musical obsession, the vastly underrated, SCARDUST!
There is hardly anything they couldn’t do, as you could tell from the talent they possess and the range and scope of this composition.
You’ve just scratched the surface with this ultra gifted, uber progressive outfit, and a deeper dive will not disappoint you. If you want full on Prog Metal I’d say try “Dials” or “Queen of Insanity” next, but you can’t go wrong with anything from them, they are TopShelf!

Scardust makes prog metal. Singer Noa is also a big Nightwish fan and one of the last students of their singer Floor Jansen. The band was almost completely replaced between the two albums. Noa also founded the metal choir Hellscore, which can also be heard and seen here. These make metal songs a capella:

The forerunner of the Hurdy Gurdy emerged in Spain in the 9th century. The Arabs brought string instruments to Europe during their conquest. During the reconquest, the Spaniards replaced the bow with a wheel. This made a permanent sound possible. From there it spreads in different variations throughout Europe. The most common variant today is a French one from the 18th century. In addition to the melody strings, it also has snare strings for the rhythm and drone strings for a permanent tone like a bagpipe. Patty can explain to you in more detail what you can do with it:
How EXACTLY does the hurdy gurdy work?
Patty herself became known with the pirate metal band Storm Seeker. When she became more successful solo than the band, she left the band. She's making Celtic Pop Folk today and her second album is coming out soon. There are numerous collaborations with her:

What a great surprise from you to make a reaction video to my new favorite (symphonic) progressive metal band from Israel with stellar musicians and a vocal beast Noa Gruman, who:
1. makes her own stage outfits
2. writes the lyrics & co-composes the songs with her friend Orr Didi, who just recently replaced the original bassist of the band. Orr is also blind, which makes his bass playing all the more amazing
3. has served her two year military service with the Israeli armed forces
4. conducts the Hellscore choir that has performed with bands like e.g. Therion, Ayreon & Amorphis
5. is a classically trained pianist & cellist, although she doesn't play these instruments with Scardust
6. has also been working with the Israeli opera as 1st soprano & also with Zubin Mehta
7. worked on her extreme vocals with Floor Jansen (Nightwish) for two years online and has over an octave wider range (i.e. 4,5 octaves) than Floor & e.g. Simone Simons (Epica), Tarja Turunen (ex Nightwish) & the late Whitney Houston.
P.S. Noa also co-produced and edited this music video & the song is the conceptual counterpart of Scardust - Huts (Official Music Video)
P.S.S. Noa's big sister was playing the violin on the right hand side of the male violinist & her younger sister was in the Hellscore choir wearing the only red dress.

I. knew this would blow you away and there is so much more to this band that it will short circuit your brain. They. did an entire Nightwish tribute concert a while back and all of the performances are on their channel. You have to check out Noa's accapella group Hellscore which is also the choir in this. They have done everything from a Nightwish medley to Metallica and more

The secret instrument the girl aka Patty Gurdy was playing is a Hurdy Gurdy (I don't know why it has such a silly name in english, in german it's called a Drehleier or Turn Lyre which fits more as a name). It's a string instrument from the european, medieval times dating back to the 15th century. To explain it very easy, you are turning a crank, which touches the strings, and with the keys you can modifiy the strings to vary the tonage to create a melody. Patty is a German musician and known to be an excellent singer and Hurdy Gurdy player, she is also a pioneer to bring the Hurdy Gurdy back to life and to combine it with metal music. She has worked with several great bands like D'artagnan or Alestorm. If you are interessted, i would suggest the latest collab with Alestorm - Voyage of the dead marauder.
Hello my young friend! Thank you for doing this one for me. This was actually released in 2020 and they couldn't get Patty to Isreal to record. Then a year later for the video and do the long awaited Patty Gurdy Scardust concert. I got to see it live stream. The Isreal fans were so infectious like we conquered covid! Lol The instrument is the Hurdy Gurdy. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what Noa can do with her voice. Orr Didi and Noa Gruman is the secrete sauce behind Scardust. Writing and arranging etc. That's her Accapella Metal Choir Hellscore. This is what got my Adrenaline up when I first heard this. In college in the 70s I loved 20th century classical techniques. Noa can go from the very harsh to the ultra high operatic. Along with the rock and jazz voices. Some bands effect me in many ways. My MLT calms my musical soul. Liliac fires me up, and Scardust gives me an Adrenaline rush. I absolutely loved the reaction my Medford brother. Sorry, Oldman rant! Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🍻🌹❤️🤘
