How To Replace the Glove Box Lock in the Chevelle

  • The glove box lock was missing the trim cover, the key didn't work, and it wouldn't latch right. Other than that, though, it was fine... So I finally got around to replacing it with a new one.
    The specific lock model varies a little with different GM models, although this particular one works with pretty much all Camaro, Chevelle, El Camino, and Monte Carlo from the 70s. Regardless, the process is pretty much the same for all GM cars of this era.

    The top bar that latches the lock is adjustable and so is the bottom plastic hinge, both can be moved back/forward ..loosen the screws, adjust, and tighten.

      Yeah they were already as far as they would go.
